Kya flicked a lighter to a strong-smelling, hand-rolled lilyweed blunt. She barely got a drag before it found itself out of Kya's mouth and into the mouth of Lin Beifong.

"I need it more than you, don't say a word." Lin cheekily mumbled.

"Are you kidding me? What happened to following the law?" Kya was in disbelief at her friend's actions.

"Thought stoners would read the newest law. It was passed as legal a few days ago." Lin took a greedy drag. "Besides, I'm off the clock since I have to come to this Gala as a guest." Lin shot a mischievous look at Kya's stunned face.

"Let me check your back one more time before you put this." Kya said after collecting her thoughts. She had laid out the outfits she and Lin would wear for the gala; it was almost like old times.

Lin sat down in her robe while Kya checked her back. After Kya was done checking Lin's back, she decided to tend to the earthbenders hair and makeup. Lin closed her eyes as she tried to control her inner desire to destroy herself from becoming too loud as the brush softly ran through her hair. When finished her hair and makeup, Kya helped her into her very tight gown.

After Lin's dress was finally zipped up, Kya started a conversation pulling her from her thoughts.

"I'm surprised you're into that Hibiki."

"Why?"

"Because of his beliefs, he hates cops. That he is pro Zhu Li and Varrick."

"And what if I agreed with him? Not entirely, but he has the right idea, and I don't think having a decent life is a radical idea."

"You surprise me, Chief Beifong. I expected you to lean closer to Raiko," Kya teased her while she rummaged through the closet, looking through Lin's shoes.

"I'm not that much of a Beifong, just the bad attitude." Lin jested, dreading what Kya would pick for her to wear with the skin-tight gown. They all reminded her of Tarrlok, and his love for the finer things. As much as letting Kya dress her was nerve-wracking, it was comforting as well. It reminded Lin of vacation In the Fire Nation, where Izumi had decided Lin was better than all the finest dolls in the fire nation and chose to dress her up instead. The Fire Princess had always commandeered her for the whole visit, despite Toph wanting to train Lin.

"And you live the cozy life. What would you know?" Kya's statement brought Lin out of her thoughts.

"I see the results of it every day," Lin never mentioned not keeping her inheritance or spending time on the city streets.

"Besides, do you need to eat a tart to know it's sweet?" Lin's tone darkened.

"No." Kya wondered if she had offended Lin.

"Do you have to eat trash and live in tough conditions to know it's not as nice as a hot plate of food?" Lin almost sounded like she was scolding Kya like a school teacher.

"Obviously not, sorry. I didn't realize that you were so passionate about it; you made me think of my mom for a second." Kya flushed. She always knew Lin cared. Even if you couldn't tell by looking at her. She had such high walls with barbed wires. Kya thought back to what they found out earlier about Lin's disappearance. She wonders how she had managed to be that strong, to hold something so dark for decades on her own.

"I could never be her. That's too big of a compliment. Besides, I am my mom at this rate. Also you are one to talk, your ass literally belongs to Izumi, you even have a small tattoo of a dragon with her characters over it." Lin shook her head as she decided to change the subject away from why she may be involved with Hibiki.

Kya nudged the younger woman after that comment, "you never did let us pressure you into one."

"Yeah," she suddenly darkened, thinking about a small scar on the small of her back and how she didn't even know they put it there until the last time she and Tenzin were together. He couldn't even look at her while he did her for what she knew was the last time. But he did ask when she got that strange scar.

Su had been waiting for an eternity while everyone else was getting ready for the Gala. She didn't care about the day-to-day workings of Republic City. She just looked forward to having nice drinks, live music, and looking excellent. She and Korra had finished getting ready first.

Korra wore a blue gown that Asami had designed for her. It complimented Korra's bust and body type with a lovely empire silhouette. She let Asami style her hair more modern aesthetic and put light blush. Korra hated it but trusted her partner's judgment. She did love the dress and its lightness spinning around like a child. Su maternally teased Korra a bit while they waited.

The guys showed up except for Mako. He would gather Lin and Kya and the three would meet the rest at the Gala. Su always wondered if there was more going on between Lin and Tenzin's remaining siblings, and how messy that would be.

Opal cuddled into Bolin's arms, who sang her endless praise about her in her deep yellow gown. It was an on-trend slack and flowy chiffon dropped waist gown with modest adornments, and red drop earrings and flats flattered her dancer-like figure.

Tenzin stood alongside Su with Pema and the children. They wore more traditional robes, much to Meelo and Bumi's disappointment. Korra ignored everyone when Asami came out. She looked stunning as usual, but she was dressed even more elegantly. Her dress was similar to Opal's, but only in the fashionable dropped waist; however, Asami had far more intricate adornments. The skirts were even more detailed and her gown had a lower neckline showing off her bust. The dropped waistline accentuated Asami's willowy body. She looked like a mover star.

"Everyone looks so good," Asami chirped.

"I look like a stuffy old monk," Bumi complained. Tenzin took a deep breath.

"We will have fun. We might get some medals or something too." Asami said, ignoring the obvious; nobody wanted Raikos reelection.

The group then traveled to the venue, arriving as many others were. They waited outside for the missing three to join them.

Korra commented how she hoped it would be a fun night. The Avatar hoped she might try one of those pretty drinks she was sure were cocktails and slow dance with Asami. Bolin was excited to dance all night long.

"I wonder where Kya and Mako are. Are they going to pull the 'fashionably late card' because it's so out of style?" Bumi announced.

"Hold your horses Bumi. I had to pee." Kya said as she walked up. She wore a tuxedo in water tribe styling. It was more elaborate than usual, her lengthy hair loose and curled. It was a mixture of a flower child and an ice prince. Kya felt a bit bad. It had so much fur. it looked familiar, but Tenzin couldn't place it. He wondered what stunt his sister decided to pull this time as he caught a strong and familiar smell.

Pema covered Tenzin's eyes which confused him. Mako then announced that they could head in now as they were all set.

"Say anything, and you won't have to worry about what happens next." Tenzin heard a bitter voice, the reason Pema covered her husband's eyes.

"Wow, Chief, so this is what Kya-" Lin pulled a Kuvira move; she slapped a piece of metal over Bumi's mouth.

Su decided not to help her sister by offering her a light green tulle shawl. She couldn't believe Kya got Lin to wear this dress. Su loved it and had to see it through. Nobody commented out of fear. The gown was backless and had a low neckline, while tight across her midsection. It was forest green and jeweled to the utmost level. Her dress also complimented her figure, how ample her bust and hips were compared to her waist. She crossed her arms over her dress, feeling nude. The only dignity Lin felt was in her muscles and tone. Kya had even put makeup on the Chief, a full face with a red lip. It took a moment for people to notice Kya had mostly covered her scars.

"Makeovers are fun, so fun." Kya walked over to the Avatar and painted her lips, saying she might as well. Kya had had a few lychee wine glasses before arriving and already felt them. Bumi managed to get the metal off, and Lin bent it back on her wrist. He smelled a hint of lilyweed on both of them and scoffed.

"I can't believe you two didn't even invite me," Bumi whined, noting that none other than the Chief of Police was staring into space.

"Oh, Bumi, don't worry, it wasn't planned. Did you know it's legal now, though?!" Kya gushed.

Bumi made an expression that brought Lin out of her daze. She started laughing at what Bumi said, leaving Team Avatar wondering if they had just stepped into another universe.

Lin approached Bumi and patted his cheek.

"Sucks you missed your only chance. Now let's get this shit show over with."

Korra looked to Asami for approval of the new lip color

"You look beautiful, Korra." Asami told her, pulling her into her arms.

They walked into the venue, where the music was blaring. Varrick was entertaining people, as he came with his wife, and talking freely about how amazing Zhu Li and her leadership would be with stuffy politicians.

Bolin, upon seeing Varrick, ran over to his buddy; Opal sighed, typical Bolin. Eventually, her boyfriend returned to ask her for a dance, the jazz music playing in the background.

Su schmoozed and had a few drinks and dances. It was odd to her that the President was late to his own party; what poor manners he had. She watched Kya dancing around and talking with the kids, while Bumi and Varrick seemed to be at the epicenter of the shenanigans brainstorming new inventions. Mako kept busy with them, and Tenzin kept active with his youngest children and Pema's conversation.

After he finished speaking with Varrick, Bumi complained for a while because he was bored. He pouted heavily before grabbing the bottle of wine off the table and keeping it captive from the others trying to get drunk. Bumi decided to stop them further by drinking right from the bottle. Lin simply just found another bottle instead of whining like Kya.

"We should play a drinking game." Kya suggested. Kya was surprised with Lin. She was still acting like her typical self, despite how much she had already drunk at her house. Bumi expected that he would be able to outdrink Lin but realized he was sorely mistaken.

"You know we aren't supposed to drink Bumi." Tenzin chided, reminding Bumi that he was now an airbender.

"I am a grown man and will do whatever I decide to do. Also I'm an airbender, not a monk. Didn't dad teach you those are not the same thing? And you can't force me to follow that, I never did the stuff you need for that." Lin tuned out their fight and drank the wine like it was juice. She was too intoxicated and high to notice society's elite staring at her exposed decolletage.

"Bumi is right, you are not his boss, and he isn't a monk, not that Bumi could be in the first place." Kya joked.

"Oh, now you side with me, yet you wouldn't share your joint?"

"Seriously? I'm trying to help you, and you focus on that?" Kya scoffed.

"You two are so embarrassing. Really." Pema rubbed Tenzin's shoulder because he needed to relax.

"Relax, Ten, this gala is for us. Besides, what would we do without Bumi? Oh, He's so big and strong." Lin jokingly rubbed Bumi's shoulders. She was feeling nice and relaxed in that moment.

Korra snickered over all of their antics, "And they thought we were bad?"

Eventually, as more men began to come into the party, their eyes naturally fell on Lin and her more scandalous gown, which was the opposite of what was seen in the papers. Lin and her jolly mood vanished into one of the room's corners when people began to leer and invade her space. Her buzz fizzled as quickly as it group decided not to anger Lin and leave her alone as they could tell that she looked uncomfortable and cold.

Lin managed to find a quiet corner to sit and glare, with Bumi bringing Lin drinks and occasional friendly flirtation, but she tended to shoo Bumi away. The glares that had protected her from more than just passing compliments, lost their edge when the free-spirited man was there. Saikan stood around with her for a while, but he was guarding the party. Lin wished she could be doing that; her back was healed and felt almost new. Kya even said there were no scars which explained why she had to wear the dress she picked. All it did was invite people to look down into her cleavage.

Lin watched a girl approach Mako, through her seismic sense. Lin wanted to tell him to enjoy himself; that he deserved to let loose and be his age. He didn't require her encouragement though, as he left to slow dance with the girl.

Kya was laughing with a lady around her age, who she found out was widowed. Kya was already planning her escape with the woman from the party to a karaoke place up the street deciding she was her new best friend. Kya had to keep telling Su to let Lin be - that if she wanted to be volatile and miserable, fine, they had at least tried.

Su, instead, decided to monitor Bolin to ensure that his hands stayed where they belonged. Opal had to airbend her mom away playfully, reminding her that she was an adult. Su cheerily reminded her she would always be her baby.

Raiko finally arrived with Buttercup on his arm. He greeted some guests and then began the dreaded speeches. He reminded them of Varrick's criminal history, and that he would be the first man if Zhu Li was voted in; That Varrick was a man who instigated war and treason, and that Zhu Li was nothing more than an enabler. He told the gala that Republic City would not be safe with them in office. Varrick attempted to interrupt him at every turn. It added fuel to Raiko's smear campaign because only now did Zhu Li present herself as a hero. Raiko sid she didn't speak for herself either Bolin stood up, hands in the air as Raiko reminded people Varrick hired triads and blew up a building which Varrick reminded everyone was his.

Raiko heatedly reminded the room of the alleged President kidnapping, and that Varrik had profited off the war between the Northern and Southern Water Tribes;, only having interest had been expanding Varrick's wealth.

A drunk Korra sat next to Asami. "Heello, their bea-tefuil, how about you go on a dance with me when this boring guy finishes." Korra said, hitting on Asami like she isn't her girlfriend. Asami flushed at Korra's words. "You like that hm? You can sit on my lap." Korra said as a response to the team avatar laughing at drunk loud Korra. Asami decided to sit on her lap, kissing her sweet idiot. Mako sighed, still not used to seeing the two women as a couple.

"Okay, how about some music. Alright, for the heroes of Republic City. REPUBLIC CITY!" Raiko said. There were some loud cheers from the crows, especially Bolin fans, and an intoxicated Korra.

She may be the strongest person in the room, but she was drunk after her first sips of mixed drinks. She dragged Asami to the dance floor when the music started. Asami held her, thinking this was hilarious. They were unashamed, and it made some of the other older folks in the room whisper.

The young Team Avatar danced to the sultry jazz music, that is until Bolin noticed something. He first stopped Korra and Asami, then his brother, and pointed. Kya and Su, who had been talking together, followed his pointing which made Kya run to grab her brothers, knowing that it would be good.

Tenzin had been dancing with Ikki, but he stopped at Kya's approach. Ikki decided to run off to bother Jinora and Kai, with Meelo following. When he walked over to the small group, he felt Kya put an arm around him. They watched as President Raiko approached Lin, causing Tenzin to smile. 'This should be good.' He thought.

The President had something behind his back. Despite Lin's glare, he continued to walk towards her.

"Chief Beifong, you look..." Not only did he stutter, but he also paused for a bit too long. He was taken aback as she was sitting. It felt like he was staring down her dress which only angered her more. She glared upwards in his direction as Raiko adjusted his glasses.

"If only we could hear what he is saying," Bolin grinned. Opal elbowed him; she felt terrible they kept making Lin uncomfortable

Lin could feel them watching her interaction with the President.

"I think Raiko has a crush on her," Asami said.

"You look so beautiful, Lin." He finally said, fighting his urge to reach out and touch her hair. It framed her face and complimented her looks so perfectly in his opinion.

"Gee, I haven't heard that at all." Lin crossed her arms, a small smile on her face. "Thank you." It was the first time she had said it the whole night.

"I got you something, Lin." He said before pulling out the most beautiful bouquet. It was made up of some of the rarest flowers the four nations had to offer; it was stunning - or at least Lin remembers those types of flowers being stunning, and could picture it in her mind. Lin was both amused and worried. Nobody had dared to bring her flowers before. She smirked at his sweet gesture, finally understanding why he was mysterious over the phone last night.

Tenzin had to hold in laughter, as he watched the scene from afar; he knew something nobody else knew. Lin sneezed.

"Don't be alarmed. I told Buttercup it was because you stayed by my side and saved my life twice." He said.

"I don't need flowers for being your hero," Lin teased, flirting a bit.

Her eyes started to turn pink and water. Raiko looked surprised, but thought she was getting emotional over the flowers. "I got them because I think I'm in love. I still hope you will dance with me even though you said no on the phone."

Nothing was sweeter than the first time someone admitted to loving you. Lin felt touched as she sneezed again. That ravenous bottomless longing she felt all the time was silent

"After the scene you made, you would have to confess if you did that. I'm going to dance with Bumi to distract people. They're watching us now." Lin replied, rejecting his offer. Raiko felt saddened.

"It was a sweet gesture, but give tho;se to Buttercup instead. I wasn't joking when I said I was allergic to flowers." The back of Lins's throat couldn't take it much more. It itched and felt tight, and she was sneezing more and more. Raiko decided to leave their hushed conversation feeling slightly better because Lin assured him it was a sweet gesture and she would see him tonight.

"Oooh, rejected!" Korra yelled, and Raiko shot her a nasty look. They all laughed. Tenzin admitted that he was surprised that she hadn't bent at him. "She's allergic to all flowers."

"Really? I had no idea!" Su said.

Bumi decided to approach Lin, who stood up as the music began for a new song. They talked for a few minutes. Lin laughed and flirted a bit before asking

"Bumi, will you dance with me?" It was so sudden that she had to repeat herself before he caught onto what she had asked.

He looked at her with her light smile, and returned it. "I wouldn't turn down the most beautiful woman in the building." He said smoothly. Lin rolled her eyes; the flattery was unnecessary. They danced skin to skin for all to watch. Lin couldn't help but think about how strong Bumi's arms were around her.

Hibiki and his band entered onto the stage to begin their first set. Lin looked up at the stage, as she could feel him smiling down at her. k. They stopped dancing when Hibiki began speaking.

"You all know I called my mom. Tell her I've been wrong about Republic City. All this time, I've been telling her...an interesting city devoid of any true natural beauty and personality. And now that I've met you...I know that's not true. I am dedicating this new song to the beautiful Lin Beifong. Hit it, guys." The band began playing. Lin's blood ran cold at the stares she could feel on her; she had never felt so tense. Bumi talked in her ear while Hibiki sang, and she liked it despite all the tension and the whispers. Lin flushed as Hibiki spilled his heart out with a cocky smile.

Meanwhile, he was ruining Raiko's day. Raiko felt so possessive of Lin, even as he sat with Buttercup beside didn't want to believe that two older men could beat him out. Lin had been entangled with him first. Though he couldn't deny that they looked terrific together. She glimmered while Hibiki's song played. He didn't notice that Lin had begun to listen to the tsungi horn.

As she returned to dancing with Bumi, she remembered something. Tarrlok had played the instrument.

His eyes fixed on Lin as Bumi boldly put his hand under her buttock. Everyone started, wondering when the Chief would kill him, if they were secretly an item, or if she was with Hibiki?

Lin ignored the stares, despite being able to feel their questions on her skin - questioning if she is in a relationship with one of the three men. She preferred it this way, keeping her options open. It helped her to feel in control; it felt like the only way to protect the little she had left. Despite her thoughts that her affection for Raiko was blossoming, Hibiki had written a song for her and was singing it for the world to know; and she had to admit that she liked him a lot more than Raiko.

When it came to relationships, she was wary to let anyone close. Her love life had made her want to do things that would push people away. Her past lovers had all hurt her for one reason or another. That it would be like when he had said he loved her for around twenty years and then dated a barely legal girl as he did. It had made her realize that she was old and unworthy. Now, she still couldn't help but fear that the attention she had now, was just a joke.

She noticed the familiar feel of one of the musicians and she tried to focus on him. She struggled to make out the tsungi horn player, his ice-blue eyes, dark skin, three braids, and cold glare. She wondered if it was just her poor eyes seeing someone that was no longer there, or if her other senses were correct in what she was feeling.

Hibiki frowned as he noticed Lin's attention was on his tsungi player. But he was on stage and understood that Lin had been through some things in her past, and that she needed time...

"Bumi," Lin said. Something felt off, like it was Tarrlok, but also not him. She hoped she didn't imagine this, that her other senses weren't failing her as her eyes had. Bumi slid his hand up, thinking she was getting mad."No, you're fine. Please take a look at that tsungi horn player, spin me and look at the band." Bumi obeyed, eyes focused on the band. Lin laid her head on his shoulder and whispered, "do you see what I see?" Bumi looked at the musicians allowing his hand to travel. He realized what she was talking about was him. He was spying on them.

"Positive, we have to alert others." Bumi turned to Lin again, worried about her dress exposing her, but it never happened. Bumi stealthily danced Lin toward the current Team Avatar before looking at Tenzin. His face was red with fury, but Bumi ignored that.

"Do you know who is spying on us from the band?" Bumi asked Asami.

"What?!" Asami asked, hushed.

"It's Tarrlok on the tsungi horn," Lin replied quietly, before nudging Bumi away, eyes fixed like a cat.

Lin held onto Bumi as they swayed together, attempting to look natural and not frazzled by Tarrlok being in the same place after many years. All the feelings she had regarding Tarrlok flooded back; they radiated in ripples as she thought about what to do next.

"We have got to make a distraction after I tell Mako to be in the hall towards the bathroom and alert Saikan." Lin finally mumbled.

"What's the plan, Chief?" Bumi noticed something intense in her eyes. He didn't say anything about it, instead focusing on the plan.

"He will try and follow us. We need to sneak off to the bathroom, where Mako can ambush him. If the target has his bending back," ideally, the avatar would notice they were gone. Lin steeled herself, dancing more ridiculously than she already was. She ignored how bizarre she'd been all week. This would not come quickly, but she had to make it seem like she and Bumi were leaving the Gala.

She knew it would work if it were Tarlok. If it wasn't, she figured Korra was hatching a plan.

Bumi and Lin moved around the dance floor, getting near Saikan and warning him and Mako about what was going on. The music turned to a more drum beat tune, and Bumi took a deep breath as he felt many eyes on his back. Bumi began leading Lin into a dance, trying to draw the people's eyes upon them. He was surprised but relieved that Lin managed to use the element of surprise to draw their eyes.

Lin danced to shock the crew who watched in the background. Bumi set the mood, and Lin matched it. She isolated her hips and chest as she adjusted to the beats and shimmied. Lin moved like a wave, her feet like a spiral; her command over every body part. Her only annoyance was that Kya picked a dress that restricted her feet. She flowed with the music, matching his energy. She sang along to the song with Bumi, who was doing flips trying to outshine her, because he could not handle being upstaged.

Mako and Saikan went to their planned positions. Mako went around the corner from where the bathroom would be and Saikan settled by the door to follow him, should Tarlok leave. The claps from the crowd were loud on the beat; Bumi kept getting very close, but neither flinched when their noses skimmed. He flowed much like she did, until he spun her and drew her near as the song finished. Lin could feel Tarrlok's eyes on her as she leaned by the door, hand on her cocked hips.

"Well, that was fun. I think I will freshen up in the lady's room." Lin noted with her seismic sense that the target was listening; so she put on the character facade like Lin had when she did undercover jobs.

"Good idea." Bumi followed Lin, who was starting to walk off. He put his arms around her. They left everyone else to wonder if that was staged or if they would do something scandalous over a toilet.

The crew watched as the target looked around, and when the band returned to the stage, but he did not. He left the hall, being careful not to have anyone notice as people began to talk amongst themselves.

Raiko was starting to give a speech again about the service of everyone who had aided Republic City during the Kuvira situation.

Saikan waited a few minutes before heading out. The Team Avatar decided to wait for a few moments before following Saikan, realizing this was the plan to get Tarrlok away from civilians.

Tarrlok just wanted to explain to her. He still cared for her, only ever getting to tell her once. He had been desperate to defend the city, but instead, he twisted it into precisely what was erroneous, blinded by the seeds of his father's hatred. He wanted to protect her, and it was always about not losing her like he lost his during his whole life. He was so foolishly worried about Tenzin, his envy over the Air Master's hold in her life and how he stood between them. He spent four years figuring out what to say and removing from trying to end his life. He had sworn to never blood bend again, but he had lost control, and that shame washed over him like a sinister tale. He stumbled down the hall, following Lins's voice. He wished that she wasn't entertaining the loud man.

Mako noticed the Chief head into the bathroom with Bumi, and that Tarrlok limped behind. He decided to strike from behind, knocking the man out. Saikan ran over quickly, handcuffing Tarrlok while the rest of Team Avatar stood behind them both.

"That was a relatively simple plan." Asami smiled, glad this wasn't such a pain.

"Where did the other two go?" Kya asked, she hoped that they didn't go into the bathroom.

"The bathroom," Mako told Kya.

" Let's get the dynamic dancing duo," Su said, grinning.

Lin brought her face closer to Bumi's. Her hands were cupping his face in seconds, and her lips were on his. It was rushed at first, but then she slowed, keeping at a pleasant even pace for him to quickly follow. She was passionate but not suddenly felt her tongue slip into his mouth. The breath escaped his lungs as Lin lightly continued to kiss him, feeling warm as they parted, her lips still hovering over his. Lin had acted before the thought came into her head; the confusing emotions commanded her.

Both were breathing heavily. Lin wrapped her legs around his waist as she sat on the sink and Bumi closed the final gap between them with another kiss, eyes closed, tasting the drinks and smoke on her tongue, deepening the kiss. Bumi put his hands in her hair, massaging her scalp as their light kisses progressed to more heated and enthusiastic ones.

Her hands traveled his body as Bumi began kissing her neck. He lifted her surprisingly soft body from the sink, and pressed her against the wall. She made a quiet noise as he admired the straps of her dress with his mouth.

Neither heard the door open.

Everyone entered the men's room to find them in that position. They didn't break apart until Bumi sat Lin back onto the sink, his back protesting holding her against the wall, but before they could get further, they heard a throat clear. They turned to find their siblings, Team Avatar, and Saikhan in the bathroom with them. Tenzin's face was flush with outrage as the others gathered.

The air was awkward. Lin pulled out a cigarette from the cups of her dress, noticing Tarrlok slumped in the corner, seeing him through the marble countertop.

"Good, you got him. I didn't even have to tell the rest of you the plan." Lin said, unwrapping her legs from Bumi's waist as she found a match, striking it against the stone wall to light the paper.

"Great job, team." Bumi decided it was his turn to speak.

Lin crossed her legs and took a puff from her cigarette.

"They always said when you are undercover, when in doubt, push your chest out. Who knew it would work so smoothly." Lin chucked dry.

"Alright, now let's get him to the station to interrogate him." Lin held a hand out and Bumi helped her down. Meanwhile, Su smirked at Bumi's face, which was smeared with red lipstick. Lin walked past them to Saikhan and Mako, giving the orders. She returned to her usual demeanor, as she turned to ask her sister for her shawl since they would be going to the station.

"Only if you dance with my girls one day." Su replied with lit-up eyes, unsure who her sister was anymore. If only she knew that Lin didn't know either.

" I don't know how well I could do that stuff you do." Lin responded, looking pensive.

"Fine, but I want you to try." Su handed her sister the shawl.

She used it to cover up a bit more. Lin thought about how silly she would look before whispering, "besides, my reputation's trash now, don't think it will matter." She pretended to check her face in a small compact, only actually able to make out some colors and blurry shapes, having a better day for her eyesight, despite not being able to see much still.

"I think you enchanted them." Kya announced darkly. She looked over at Tenzin, and could see his resentment; it was dreadful to see, since he was the one that left Lin.

Tenzin looked at Bumi, who tried to walk off, feeling his sibling's scathing glare. Bumi didn't mean for anything to happen, but he felt relieved that he had been dressed as an old monk.

"How did you pull it off, Chief?" Saikan asked.

"I've been on the force for so long, or do you mean to tell me you haven't picked up on any tricks too Sai?" Lin pouted flirtatiously, as she decided to slip back into character. She missed this part of her job.

"I, see. Undercover jobs and better acting skills than any of those mover stars." He replied.

"Ha, I am a little old lady." She huffed as she leaned against the wall.

"Aside from Su, you're the youngest of the original Team Avatar's children. Besides, I would still take you to dinner and a play." Saikan said.

"I'm game, but only if you pick a hairdo. I do like bald men, you know" Lin winked before walking off to get a bison, leaving as Saikhan looked at the others, confused, before they all left.

"Time for some answers." Korra said, sobering up. Feeling relieved the plan is clear for now.
