The young maiden slowly opens her eyes to see pitch blackness, as always.

However, some cold air hits her skin which shivers her spine.

She then hears footsteps coming before she pretends to sleep thinking that she is imprisoned.

"I know you're awake. It's okay, you're not imprisoned."

The voice of a middle-aged woman spoke.

Leaving no choice, the young maiden gets up from bed.

"How are you feeling?"

Asked Valka.

"Cold, and dizzy."

Said the maiden.

"Here, have some herb tea."

Valka said handing her a cup of tea.

"Thank you."

The maiden replied carefully taking the tea and drinking it.

"Tell me, what happened to you that led you shipwrecked?"

Asked Valka.

"I... escaped..."

"From?"

"Marriage..."

"Who did it?"

"Jorgenson..."

Valka gasped upon hearing the family name.

"What's your name, dear?"

Valka asked.

"Astrid, Astrid Hofferson."

Answered the maiden.

"So, you're the daughter of Ingrid Hofferson."

Astrid is surprised to hear it.

"You knew my mother?"

"I do. She's my friend."

"Wait. Are you... Valka Haddock?"

"Indeed."

Astrid went shocked.

"But, how?! Everyone believes that you're dead, alongside your son and the chief!"

The maiden exclaimed.

"It's a long story. But for now, you need rest."

Valka said as she lays Astrid down back on the bed.

Astrid sighs.

"Okay."

She said.

"Call me when you need me."

Valka lastly spoke before leaving the cave room.

Astrid was left confused about her surroundings.

It is indeed cold in the room she is in, so her guess is that this place is covered in glaciers.

"I wonder what's out there?"

"She's from Berk?"

Stoick asks while he and Valka are feeding the baby dragons.

"Aye. She is engaged to your brother's lad."

Valka said.

"What happened?"

He asked.

"I haven't asked her about it. I'm quite concerned about her parents."

She said giving a fish to one of the dragons.

"Something had happened to them?"

"Maybe, I'm not sure."

From a clear view, Hiccup watches his parents talking about the new girl.

He heard about Berk from them stating that it was a place for Dragon Slayers, but he never thought about interacting with a Viking from there aside from his parents.

He decided to meet the blind Viking at the cave.

"Who's there?"

Astrid asked upon hearing some human echo from the distance.

"Don't worry, I meant no harm because I'm her son."

Hiccup said entering her cave.

"What brings you here?"

She asked while Hiccup sits by the foot of the bed.

"I just want to know what Berk looks like from your point of view. I've heard a lot of it through my parents, but I wanted to know more."

His explanation made Astrid curious.

She never gets to interact with someone like him talking about her home.

So, she decided to give him a chance.

So, she told him her story.

She was a Villager from the Isle of Berk, and she is supposed to become one of her fellow Vikings when she comes of age.

Her life there is about killing or being killed as Berk is on a war against dragons for three centuries.

However, tragedy struck her entire family.

Her mother was poisoned and passed away, her uncle perished by the Flightmare, and her dad didn't come back after the voyage to dragon island.

To make matters worse, during a storm, she permanently lost her sight because of the lightning strike in front of her upon exiting the burning barn.

In the end, she became "a damsel in distress" as what her people call her.

The reason she fled her home is that she was engaged to the "heir" of Berk, Snotlout.

She hates him very much from the very start, and an arranged marriage always takes the whole cake.

As much as she managed to flee, a huge storm broke into the ocean and tried to drown her.

Luckily, she managed to wash up at the home of the long-lost Haddock family.

"This is gonna take a while."

Hiccup said after listening to Astrid's story.

"So do I."

Astrid said.

Hiccup looks outside to see that the light of the glaciers is getting dark.

"I better get going for dinner. Perhaps my mum would come by to bring you food."

He said dusting himself as he stood up and went to leave.

"You're Hiccup, right? Son of Stoick the Vast?"

Astrid asked.

"I am."

He answered before leaving.

He soon spotted his dragon watching from a distance.

"You know that it's creepy, bud."

Hiccup said in Dragonese.

"I'm just waiting for you."

Toothless replied.
