Chapter 13: Oracion Seis

Perfectly matched stomps echoed across the forest, as an army of clean white and jade green approached closer and closer. Their numbers, easily surpassing hundreds of heads. Their eyes scanning what's before them in a disciplined manner, longing to put the next criminal in sight behind bars. Still, a certain blindingly white clad individual would really appreciate it, if this oozing animosity wouldn't be directed towards him.

Zoro didn't even need to turn around to feel their dislike towards him. Their gazes where practically drilling holes into his back. Tensing up, each time he moved as much as a finger. Whatever it might be that sparked their ire, Zoro couldn't give a rat's ass about it. He had bigger problems.

It's a hot day, the time was noon and his thick clothes where not helping with anything. The mask, sticking to his face like tape was giving him no liberties in the comfort department and let's not forget the biggest issue. Does he really need to wear this contrived outfit?

He knew why, but couldn't he get a more personalized getup or at least one that wasn't apparently three sizes too large? It was already hard enough for him not to trip on the fabric sliding on the ground and having the tenth person step on it was another level of annoying he rather not deal with right now.

Speaking of annoyances, his swords confiscated by four-eyes to ensure safety was high on this list, too. What irked Zoro more however was not that they have them, but that four-eyes somehow managed to take them without him noticing. This was impressive but worrying. Was it this easy to just take his weapons now or was there some complicated mambo magic spell at work? Whatever it was, Zoro will have to watch out for that in the future.

"We're almost there." Four-eyes spoke up, feeling Zoro's impatience and irritation rising.

A giant vibrant forest could be seen from afar, stretching in all directions wherever your eyes would land. Something interesting did caught Zoro's eye however and Lahar noticed it, too. It was hard to identify from this distance, but it appeared something was hovering over the sea of trees.

"What's the Christina doing there?" Four-eyes has taken out his binoculars, while worry made itself known. "They weren't supposed to- "

No sooner did the words leave his mouth, the flying craft exploded. Just like that.

"Idiots." Lahar was more annoyed than angry, before he acted. "Company one through seven go ahead and take your position, eight and nine you with me. Contact Doranbalt and tell him the guilds acted on their own accord and got jumped. When everybody is in position activate the barrier on my signal. Maintain audio-silence until I give the word."

His soldiers, like a well-oiled machine saluted in unison before the bigger half of the army sprinted ahead faster than Zoro expected. Some strange markings did glow on their outfits, but they disappeared just as fast.

"Blank." The captain addressed Zoro, before tossing him his abducted swords back into his chest. "We will send you ahead. Brace yourself for a hard landing."

'What?'

Before Zoro could even ask, blue markings shone brightly under his feet and a pillar of earth launched him high into the air, straight towards the forest center.

"Good luck." Was all Lahar said, before the man made his way towards the remaining army in a disciplined hurry.

The squeaky doors opened, giving Brain a clear view of his latest guest. The young man was still chained to the chair, but it was not hard to imagine what horrors have befallen his former student in the last five days since he last has seen him.

The latest treatment had his legs pierced by several long but thin iron needles, gently caressing his most active nerves without needlessly severing them. The blood from his wrist has already dried, tainted the chain in its dull scarlet color. Evidence of his struggle to free himself from them. Unsuccessfully of course. All this while forced to remain conscious to everything around him with all those drugs flooding his body, just to make Jellal the tiniest bit more cooperative.

Of course, Brain did it only after masterfully disabling all of the council best precautions inside Jellal's valuable head. Which ultimately amounted to nothing. Brain was the one that designed them after all before he jumped ships and the council didn't even bother to change it. They were cockier than he remembered or more likely, they where unable to come up with a better system that surpassed his knowledge.

On another topic, Brain was impressed with Jellal's mental fortitude. It took a lot of skill to deny both Angel and Cobra access into his mind. Brain couldn't say they hadn't tried at all, but there was still a lot of untapped potential for improvement if his elite pawns couldn't break a half-dead man under this big timeframe.

On the fifth day Brain switched out Angel for Hoteye, as the former had an important mission to attend to. The latter was still a little stingy. His lack of payment from Jellal's side being the primary reason. So, the money loving pawn was quick on the uptake and chose a rather unorthodox method, breaking Jellal's femur. Repeatedly. Then healing it each time and telling Jellal that his debt just increased tenfold, until he revealed Nirvana's position.

Walking towards the seemingly broken, but still strong-willed wizard, Brain gently pressed his staff to lift Jellal's head. The moment their eyes met Jellal regained the fire in his eyes, before spitting towards his tormentor. Or at least he tried to. The young man had so little energy left, he didn't even register how his saliva ran down across his lower jaw. It was pitiful.

"So, you still resist me." Brain was oddly calm. "I will give you one last chance. Give me- "

This time a wet sensation ran down Brain's face.

'Your weakened state was a faint to lure me into a false sense of security?' Brain could only chuckle at Jellal's tenacity.

"So be it. Hoteye! Gather the rest. It's time to move out. Let's give our dear guest a reunion that might be a little bit more convincing."

Later in a flash of green, they all disappeared.

"Why am I part of this?!" Cried out Lucy for the heavens to hear, running behind her team just trying to catch up.

Why did Master Makarov decide to send her of all people? She was bearably able to keep up with her teammates on foot, so how was she supposed to help them fight one of the most dangerous dark guilds in existence!

Sure, Lucy was part of a few adventures that could be considered on the same level as this, but somewhere needs to be a line. Can she not just remain at home and worry about her rent instead of being trusted to fight one of the biggest crime organizations in the country?! But there was no use. She was chosen and what the Master says must be done. Even if Natsu tends to ignore it and just do his own thing instead, but she was better than that.

For a moment, a giant shadow was looming over them, catching the attention of everyone, while giving Lucy the opportunity she needed to catch up and see what has caught their gaze and now hers as well.

The Magical Bomber Christina was a remarkable sight as it beautifully soared through the sky like a fairy; a deadly one at that. It had war ready weapons capable of changing the tide of any battle, while its slick and stylish design were ideal to catch the attention of everyone in its area. Boosting the moral of its allies, while its enemies feared to have its guns pointed at them. It was truly the pride and joy of Blue Pegasus. Just seeing it made Lucy much more confident in their alliance's success.

So, it was a giant blow to everyone when the so menacing, but cute Christina just exploded. Crashed down into the forest, followed by another ear-deafening explosion.

One of their greatest assets, taken down just like that. Then as if that wasn't enough a green swirling void appeared before them, with seven distinctive individuals standing in their way.

"Oracion Seis!" Lucy cried out, but no one paid attention to it. It was obvious to see that Oracion Seis was before them, but among their numbers one individual stood out, trying to avert his eyes in shame.

"JELLAL!" Natsu was on fire, ready to rush in without a thought, if it wasn't for Erza's iron gauntlet stopping him.

Gray was equally agitated as were most of the alliance members. Itching for a fight but restraining themselves just enough. It was unwise to rush into battle based on emotion alone. Lucy however wished she could avert her eyes from Jellal's beaten state.

The image of him just a few weeks ago depicted as a ravishing, shining, and full of live young handsome man was still fresh in her mind. It was unsettling seeing how he was not only covered in blood with vicious wounds covering most of his body but that he had also lost one of his arms. Just imagining herself in this situation made her skin crawl, but the young celestial mage just could not avert her gaze from him. It was just so awfully sad.

Yes, she perfectly knew about all the atrocities committed by him, and Jellal might have deserved all this pain. Yet… seeing any person beaten and massacred to this degree, no matter what they have done, was a sight someone with her moral compass couldn't be truly happy about.

"We saw through your plans." The feathery clad woman spoke up, playfully wiggling her finger at them.

"We already got Jura and Ichiya!" Added the floating spirits that appeared around her. Boasting their impressive feat.

"What!?" This was another big blow. In the span of three minutes their side have lost two of their strongest assets… and Ichiya.

"Jellal, are you prepared to lose something dear to you?" said Brain, shifting his gaze towards Erza.

"Don't you- ", With a smack of Brain's staff, Jellal got silenced, before Brain utter a quick 'do it' to his guild.

It all happened so fast. The moment the enemies rushed towards them, Natsu already got out of Erza's grasp and together with Gray, being for once on the same brainwave, met them head on. Then they got demolished, alongside their allies in the matter of seconds.

Lucy had no idea how it happened. She couldn't really pay attention to the fight around her when she got suddenly attacked by her own damn self. Her copy actively preventing her from summoning her spirits and the constant whipping to her hands were starting to create some nasty bruises. Another hit brought Lucy finally to the ground and as if to spite her, she got stepped on her back.

Lucy would have escaped from that, if she did not just see Erza getting bitten by a terrifying massive snake. Her scream and writhing on the ground being a clear indicator that it was more serious than it seemed.

"ERZA!"

A lot of people screamed her name at the same time, but the one that surprise Lucy the most was Jellal. Longing to burst out at any moment yet forced to only watch thanks to his bindings.

This momentary distraction on the battlefield was enough for everyone to get a nasty cheap shot, making them fall to the ground, unable to dodge what was about to come.

"Trash. You should all disappear." said Brain, before he readied a massive swirling spell above his head. Ready to devour the rest of the alliance members, who could only look in terror.

"STOP IT! BRAIN!"

"Are you finally ready to fulfill my wish?"

Jellal was clenching his teeth, before he let his head down. "Yes, I am. Just... Just save her life…please!"

The massive void above Brain disappeared. "That's better. Let's get going."

"Wait, what about Erza! If you don't save her life, I won't help you!"

"Surely you realize. You're in no bargaining position, my dear Jellal. Her life rests entirely in your hands now. The faster you show the way. The faster she gets the antidote." Brain glance to his side as a blur appeared beside him. Then a small smirk appeared.

"Let me go! Carla, help me!" Wendy struggled to break free from Racer's grasp.

"This will be our insurance and your ticket for Erza's cure." Brain send Jellal a knowing glance, who in return just glared at him.

"LEAVE WENDY ALONE!" Natsu was already closing in on them, ready to jump in their face and bring them to the ground.

"Die." A greenish-yellow swirling void was hurled at Natsu faster than he could have predicted.

He was done for if a wall didn't conveniently appear before him to take the hit. When the view cleared Oracion Seis had disappeared and with them Wendy.

"Damn!" Clenching his fist Natsu pounded the earth in frustration before anyone could really process what they just allowed to happen right before their eyes.

"Two-Sword-Style: Dragons Gale." Casually sending a gust of air to catch his fall, Zoro landed gently as the falling leaves of a dying tree, while blasting away whatever was beneath him.

"Bastard." Was the only comment leaving his mouth, as the thought of strangling four-eyes looked more and more appealing.

Taking a big step to the right, Zoro kicked a big iron pot to the side. Spilling the rest of the still hot meal onto the already sullied ground. When the dust settled down Zoro just realized he crashed right into a camp of some twenty people or so, all dressed in the same red colored pajamas wizards tend to wear. All sharing the same dumbfounded expression of shock. The silence was ever-growing, as they kept their gazes fixated on Zoro.

'I'm sorry for spilling your meal. I didn't mean it.' Was what he wanted to say but couldn't.

Speaking was prohibited unless he wanted to risk the missions goal. Instead, Zoro bowed slightly forward with the hope of avoiding any conflict, before walking towards a random direction with an outstretched arm to show he had to go.

Surprisingly, the group were good sports about it. Not appearing angry in the slightest or even trying to stop Zoro from leaving and face the consequences of his actions.

'How nice of them. They might be even great drinking buddies. Next time-' Zoro thoughts were abruptly cut when a snake two times his size lunged at him from above, forcing Zoro to jump out of the way and then try to slice the scaly animal in two.

Luckily for the snake, someone else tried to get the jump on Zoro, but this sneak attack got masterly averted, when Zoro just parried the purple-colored slash with his sword and send a kick at his attacker.

It missed.

Instead, the spiky haired young man with the massive snake now kuja-wrapped around him sidestepped the slash with minimal effort. Giving Zoro a cocky grin, the kind of logia users had when they believed themselves untouchable.

"Impressive, and here I thought I could make quick work of you, even though you are Blank." The kuja-wannabe said, while cocking his head to the side." Still, what a bold move launching yourself to us. If I hadn't heard you coming, you might have succeeded in whatever you tried doing. Sadly, you are facing me now, and let me tell you, no one has ever won against me one-on-one. Not even a Blank."

He then turned his head towards the group of people behind Zoro.

"Sir Cobra!" One said, before he jerked back when Cobra yelled.

"You cowards! You where thinking of letting a government-dog do as she pleases! I can only imagine what Master Brain would think of you when he finds out about this betrayal."

This off-hand comment rallied up the troops like a lightning-strike, plastering on everyone the definition of determination. Then with a battle cry they rushed towards Zoro, shooting some unimpressive magic beams and what not at him. A sigh escaped Zoro's lips, before he held his right blade at an angle.

"You are not going to injure them?" The kuja-man startled Zoro somewhat with that comment, but it did not break his concentration when he unleashed his mercy.

One dragon shock later, Zoro and Cobra were facing each other alone.

'Did he see into the future? That's going to be annoying.' Zoro cracked his neck, before he readied his blades.

"You think I can see into the future? That's sweet, but I have something much better than that." Cobra declared, before he lunged at Zoro with a furry of swipes. None of them hitting him, as Cobra lacked the speed to penetrate Zoro's swordplay. Despite it the young man didn't seem discouraged, even when Zoro send a devastating swing right towards Cobra's mid section.

"I can hear it." With that cocky comment the Kuja-man jumped over the slash at the last moment and send a kick of his to meet Zoro's face. Then Cobra was forced to abandon his attack, just bearably avoiding a one-legged life. Cobra broke out in cold sweat.

'So that's it.' Zoro chuckled inside his head; now aware Cobra was listening. 'And here I thought you would be an annoying snake to deal with.'

"What do you-?" Another swing almost took Cobra's head of, if Cubelios didn't tug him back at the last moment and together they jumped into the tree behind them.

Instead of an answer Zoro just lunged at him with a whirlwind of slashes, right after cutting down the tree with a ranged slice. Cobra was bearably avoiding the barrage. One attack after another was evaded, but the storm of flashing white was picking up speed faster than Cobra could get used to, narrowing down his window of safety with each swing. Then the first grazes tore his black shirt open, out of which blood started to slowly gush out from his small wounds. Clearly shocking the snake-enthusiast.

It's not as if Cobra wasn't returning his own slashes back, but against someone like Zoro who could see the next attack coming it didn't mean much. Eventually Cobra caught a glimpse of Zoro's mind predicting his own poison induced move. A clear change in tactics was in order, so the young man jumped back for some much-needed distance.

"You bitch!" Growled Cobra, while tearing his sleeves off and transforming his arms into scaly reptilian like claws. "Using a similar technic as me. I don't know if I should be pissed or take that as a compliment, but you are going down. Now you will face the – Shit. CUBELIOS!"

Jumping high, the snake around Cobra suddenly grew a pair of wings, allowing him to completely dodge the fire beam coming from their side.

Zoro meanwhile just looked at it. Then the flames surrounded him.

"FIRE DRAGON ROAR!" Unleashing a powerful roar of flames Natsu quickly ended the fight against Erigor, who despite his type advantage couldn't do anything but shield himself from the sea of fire.

The wind barrier around Erigor was getting thinner and the heat was surely unbearable for the Reaper. Only by some miracle did the attack stop just as the last ounce of magic left his body, overwhelmed by the shear amount of progress Natsu made since they last met.

Speaking of Natsu, he was pissed and in a hurry. He had no time to play with small fries. Erza's and Wendy's lives where at stake after all. Any amount of delay is one he might regret later.

"Haven't you overdone it a little?" said Gray, while eying the destruction behind Natsu, that even split in two the longer you watched it go.

"I don't have time to waste! The faster we get them, the better!" Natsu walked towards the panting Erigor and picked him up by the collar.

It was a good thing that Erigor didn't open his eyes. The intensity emitted from Natsu's gaze could have melted steal bars, but before the dragon slayer could ask any questions, a certain smell entered his nose. Causing him to drop his prey and forget completely about him.

Gray noticed Natsu's change in demeanor and leveled his gaze where his guildmate was looking.

"What are you doofuses looking at?!" Carla vented, before she saw it, too.

There, where Natsu just burned off part of the forest were one… no two people. The first was standing in the center of the carnage, whereas the second was flying with an unmistakable eye-catching large purple snake wrapped around him. It was clear who it was, and it didn't take long for the group to dash towards them. Natsu of course taking the lead with Happy trying to catch up.

"THERE YOU ARE YOU BASTARD!" After a long sprint Natsu launched himself towards Cobra, while preparing a nasty right hook from below.

"Get lost you fly!" A clawed hand grabbed Natsu in time, before tossing him to the ground hard.

"Natsu!" Worried for his partner, Happy rushed to check on him.

Natsu of course was unbothered by the fall and stood up just as quick, yet before he could complain, he notices a blinding white robe fluttering right next to him.

The person who wore it was hard to identify, with all those layers of clothes, a silver mask and all, but something else stood out. The smell… It felt incredibly familiar, but not quite the same. It was as if Erza herself was standing right next to him… well an Erza that had just gotten into a drinking contest with Cana that is. This stench of alcohol was not easy to miss.

"What's a Blank doing here?!" Gray, being the master observer he is, was taken back by the sight.

"Blank what now?" Natsu genuinely didn't remember.

"Of course, you would forget." Gray just shook his head. "In short, they work for the council, but why would one be here?!"

"…" The blank in question remained silent, just observing the flying snake bastard who was being incredibly considerate by letting them talk.

"Whatever. This doesn't concern us." Gray was prepared to leave." Let the Blank handle him, Natsu."

"Not going to happen." Natsu cracked his knuckles. "I will take this fight from now on!"

"What are you talking about? We need to find Wendy and stop them from getting Nirvana!" Intervened Carla hovering over their heads.

"Easy," A mad grin formed on Natsu. "I need to kick his ass for what he has done to Erza."

"That's hardly the time for such childish games!" Carla was scoffing with anger.

"Relax." Said Natsu. "If my guess is correct Blanky is overqualified for this fight. I'm just relieving the guy from an inconvenience so that he can bust the skull of their Master and rescue Wendy. You can do that right?"

Natsu got a nod in return.

"Nice! Hey Happy!"

"Yes?"

"I will need your help partner. Two against one is just not fair. You in?" A fist extended was waiting for an answer.

"Aye, sir." Fist bumping into each other, the duo was ready for some ass kicking.

Gray could only scratch his head at this typical flame-brained behavior. "Do what you want, just kick the guy's ass! Blank, lets go! We don't have much time!"

The white clad fighter was about to leave when Natsu suddenly stopped him.

"Wait a sec! I got a quick question."

Annoyance could be felt from the way the guy in question turned around, with one hand positioned lazy on top of his swords, but in reach. Probably wondering what the issue was.

"You got any light by chance? I'm a little low on energy right now and I could really use one."

"You idiot! How did you expect to – "Any amount of complaint was snuffed out when Gray saw Natsu slurp fire from the Blank's magic sword the same way one would eat Cotton Candy on a festival.

"Thanks man! Now I'm all fired up!" Smashing his fist together again, both Natsu and Happy were now truly ready to give Cobra the fight of his life. The Blank meanwhile just looked at his blade in a hypnotic manner. Clearly not sure what he just saw happen before him.

"Whatever. Let Natsu handle it!" With that Gray, Carla, and the mysterious shining Blank made their way forward, leaving Natsu and Cobra alone.

"I'll have to thank you!" Cobra said while licking his sharp fingers. "It was getting frustrating fighting that girl. You will make for a nice punching bag for a change."

"You wish. I have not once lost against another Dragonslayer! When this fight ends you will tell me all about your dragon and what happened to him."

Cobra just chuckled. "You will be severely disappointed what I'm going to say, but sure. I will tell you all about my dragon."

"We are surrounded." Brain announced to his pawns, while creating a visual representation of the entire forest. "The council has us completely surrounded and it will be tough to get out of this encirclement, if the fourth really is responsible as Cobra claimed. Angel, did that man not have any intel about this!"

In a response Angel pulled out a golden key." Nothing. Once Gemini successfully transforms all that person knows, it will also know. Want me to ask again?"

"No. That won't be necessary. It will not change anything. Instead, we should focus on Nirvana. With its power we can without issue take on Lahar's army and seeing how far they have come to stop us it would only be fair to make proper use of them as we see fit."

"So, what's the plan?" Angel asked, while pocketing her key,

"You and Hoteye will take charge of the lesser guilds and stop anyone from getting near us. When Cobra disposes of the intruder he will join you. That said, on the off-chance one of you gets beaten I will wake Midnight as a precaution."

Hearing this most of the members shivered at the thought. Racer even increased his grip on Wendy unconsciously. The young girl tried her best not to break out in tears the entire time, yet each sob that would have come was muted by Brain's Solid Script: Silence spell. Its letters covering her mouth in a greenish color.

"Racer, you stay with me. Our freelancer here would probably want the fastest man around to be available when he fulfills his job. Isn't that right, Jellal?!" Facing his former student, Jellal could only grit his teeth, while impatiently waiting for this emergency meeting to be over." Now, everything clear?"

Everyone nodded, before they dispersed, not needing Brains command to be dismissed.

"Damn, where do we need to go?" asked Gray, while running through the forest aimlessly.

Since they split up with Natsu and Happy, Gray's group didn't meet any of the lesser dark guilds to interrogate them. It was frustrating and the longer they needed to rescue Wendy, the worse Erza's condition is going to get.

Suddenly the bushes before them where moving. Gray in an act of reflex clasped his hands together and send a volley of ice. Instead of some dark schmucks, his attack got shattered by a similar volley of ice, but themed around birds.

"Gray you idiot!" Lyon complained while Jura and the Sherry appeared behind him from the bushes.

"You startled me. Anyway, nothing happened. So, how's your side? Got anything?"

"Sadly not." Jura took charge of the conversation, before Lyon could complain again." We took out a few lesser guilds, but none of them were able to be of any use."

"Damn. By the way, Jura. Do you have any idea why a Blank might be here? Aren't they usually with an army from the council?"

"You have met a Blank?! Here?!" Jura was surprised.

"Well, yeah. He was fighting one of Oracion Seis when we met him. Don't you see hi- "To Gray's great shock, the moment he turned around the white clad Blank you couldn't miss from a thousand meters away just disappeared without Gray or Carla noticing.

"That's unbelievable! How unreliable!" Carla summed it up pretty nicely.

Venting a bit about their lost companion none of them where prepared when beneath each of them a hard pillar of earth suddenly emerged, protecting them from the muddy splash they would have fallen prey to if Jura didn't act on time.

From the thick trees a bulking mass of thick orange hair appeared, with eyes sharply scanning its opponents. Then another wave of mud was shot towards them, which was again diverted by Jura and his magic.

"I will hold him off." Jura declared." It seems their main force has split up, so you go and retrieve Miss Wendy."

"Okay." Gray and the rest run ahead, but Lyon remained for a little longer.

"Can you handle him?"

Jura just smirked before he let his magic loose. "Who do you think I am Lyon! If I can't defeat a dark mage as strong as him, I would tarnish the good name of the Wizard Saints.! So don't worry about me. Your mission is to rescue Miss Wendy and once this is done you will see, how the tides of this battle will turn once we released the furry of the Fairy Queen."

Taking his word for it Lyon nodded, before he made his way to the rest.

"Oh, my~. What a moving speech. "Said Hoteye in a rather boorish tone." I think you are underestimating me here. Angel already beat you without issue so how can you think of defeating me?"

"I was just taken off guard. You will see that what happened before was just a rookie mistake."

Ignoring Jura's empty words, Hoteye opened his book, while taking an extensive quick look inside. "Hmmm… How about 100 million Jewels and I will get easy on you?"

"Huh?"

"For another 100 I will make it look like you almost won? Deal?"

"No deal!" Without another word, Jura rushed towards Hoteye with a dozen of pillars at his sides.

"The cocky always regret not spending money after they lost." Clasping his book shut Hoteye prepared for the battle that was to come.

A little later then I wanted, but what's a guy gonna do if he can't make it in time.
Chapter 13 was a chapter that had I think a lot of different versions of it (ignoring the times I lost my notes on it more then I want to admit).

So how did you like this change of events? I found it comedical how the alliance got beaten so quickly at the start and Brain didn't kill them when he had the chance to do it, so I hope my take is good enough with them just wanting to convince Jellal to help them and then just disappear after it, not needing to waste more time with the alliance.

Overall, I like this chapter a lot, even if the cannon arc is ok at best for me personally so I hope I will not rush it needlessly.

Btw in just a few days we hit the first anniversary of this fic. What a long time it has been and how long I will need to write before I cover everything I want. For reference I have maybe written about 15% of the story I have in mind… isn't that scary?! That means 5 more years if my schedule stays the same as now….

Either way I wish you a good time.

Till next time and don't let the world crumble around you.
