【64 - A Quartet Conflict? Battle of Star-Crossed Rivals!】
Peaks and dips of sand. A still sea of pale-yellow waves.
"Isn't it magnificent!" Jayden exclaimed and ran to the window-band of the flying saucer. Heidi and Kanoa slowly followed, peering out at the landscape. "2.3 million square kilometers, there's no other place like this on the planet."
Tsukumo didn't bother staring like the rest of them. Instead he and Engyo worked on the controls, studying screens and data. M-006 was piloting the ship between them. The last two members of their team had remained at the chateau.
Kanoa had difficulty seeing beauty in anything since his beloved's death. Everything seemed pointless without her. Heidi felt a strange curiosity at knowing she was once again visiting a place she'd only seen in photos and textbooks. The desert - a habitat like no other.
"What's that?" Kanoa pointed and Jayden immediately wedged into him, peering below.
"Good eye. That is a nomadic tribe travelling downwind." Jayden explained.
Heidi squinted, thinking she could make out camels before they were gone from sight.
"...our associate will arrive at the rendezvous point a day after us." Engyo was saying.
"This the mysterious ally we keep hearing about?" Heidi asked.
"Indeed."
"And it's not the water chosen?"
"I'm afraid not…"
"What's with them?" Heidi said, aggravated. She made her way back to her seat. "They warn me about Narciel, free me from the detention center, publically expose Urobach for making the atom bomb, help you guys rescue me and Kanoa, and warn everyone about the tsunami. And yet… why aren't they here with us?"
At Heidi's question they went quiet.
"I've asked myself the same thing, Heidi." Engyo confessed. "But usually the water chosen can only be reached when they want to be." There was another pause as everyone considered this. "In lighter news, when we reach our stop there's something there that's sure to make you happy. I guarantee it."
Heidi was even more curious, but she let it remain a surprise.
The sun was setting when they arrived. A navigation system may not have been necessary, as they landed by a massive tomb half-buried in the sand. Tent tarps fluttered as the bronze saucer turned and lowered. A jolt then stop.
Beep. "We have reached our destination!" M-006 declared, a closed-eyed smiley displayed on his screen-face.
The door opened and ramp lowered. It was surprisingly cool.
There were a team of excavators in khaki hats and pants, looking over from their supplies and stretcher-chairs. A woman broke away from the others. It was hard to see with the orange sun behind her, but she ran up and wrapped Heidi in a tight embrace.
"Summer?" Heidi spoke in bewilderment.
"Oh Heidiii…" She sniffled tears, her thick black hair getting in the way. "I haven't seen you since our video chat. That feels like years ago!"
"Summer…" Tears welled up in Heidi's eyes and she hugged the woman back. "Us Hirazumi girls are bad at keeping in touch but are there for each other when we need it." She recited. "I missed you…"
The newcomers and team alike were able to stare fondly at the reunion.
Then Tsukumo stretched his arm over his head "Okay. We better get the camo tarp out and cover the ship."
They all stepped off the ramp.
An hour later it was dark and the others were around a campfire. The two Hirazumi sisters had climbed up the roof of the temple's mouth, they sat overlooking the fire and the desert, facing away from the billowing wind as it tossed sand against their backs. The night was shockingly cool. Summer explained that while the sun beat down relentlessly in the day, at night the heat quickly escaped without any vegetation to retain it. The stars were beautiful and illuminated the desert with a faint surreality.
"I actually forgot you were out here." Heidi confessed.
"You forgot I left for the desert to go on a Duel Masters archeological dig?"
"Yeah," Heidi said then laughed.
"You saw me off at the train station. Even then you didn't want me to go. I made you promise to try harder at school. Still can't help feeling like this whole 'chosen' business was just an excuse to get out of that." She lightly punched Heidi's arm.
"It was more like I moved schools, then the school got destroyed. So it's not my fault."
Finally Heidi could catch-up with family. They spoke long into the night, in this mystical environment, only going to sleep when their eyes were too heavy to resist any longer.
There was a plan to get into Solvus.
Naturally Summer's excavation team knew their plight, and they used connections to strike up a deal with a shipping company. While Solvus provided much oil and gold to the rest of Augus, it also traded for materials it couldn't grow in its arid territory. A few multi-million dollar companies transported goods there in metal storage containers. One of their higher-ups agreed to look the other way for a sum. They would hide in a crate for ten hours as they illegally crossed the border, then bust themselves out at midnight.
The next morning a huge carrier truck with big wheels crossed the desert to their location. Ready for pick-up. They were all gathered together.
Summer held Heidi in another tight embrace "…I hate that I can't go with you."
"I know." Heidi patted her sister's back then tried to pull away but she wouldn't let go.
"Not even I thought twice about going to Solvus! Even though it's close and the richest city in the world! They execute people there! What if you get caught? I don't want to let you go…"
Engyo stepped over "Heidi and Kanoa are still chosens. Even Solvus state wouldn't go so far as to execute the heroes of our planet. At any event, it's best you stay with your crew while M-006 stays with our ship."
"We're prepared, don't you worry about it." Jayden assured her, still eager.
Only then did Summer finally let go.
"You all ready?" The trucker hung out his window to call.
Heidi, Kanoa, Tsukumo, Jayden and Engyo were carrying backpacks with them. They'd changed into tunics – not their simple ones but garbs of fine threading, material that slightly shimmered. These would ensure they blended in with Solvus's populace. They set off and waved to the others, crossing hot sand in flat shoes. They needed to climb laddering to get into the big carrier truck. Once boarded it drove off.
In an hour they reached an airport stop-over point. Solvus wouldn't let airships fly over, so big companies flew their cargo to these bases to be moved by huge carrier trucks like the one that drove them.
The five were let into the perimeter and the building. The Chief of Staff walked them right to their storage crate then took the envelope of bills from Jayden. He was counting it as he turned away, wishing them luck. The doors were closed and they were bolted inside.
Engyo turned on a florescent light so they could see. Jayden was already unravelling his sleeping bag, opening a book and getting comfortable.
Kanoa sat cross-legged in the corner. Heidi joined him, leaning against the metal interior.
"You think you'll be able to sense out Venus?" She asked.
"I was able to sense out you on the island." He said. "Us chosens have a connection. I believe I'll be able to find Sinan."
Nobody talked much. Jayden read his book. Tsukumo and Engyo went over details, scrolling through electronic touch-pads. Kanoa started meditating. Heidi was flicking over the small epipen in her hand. After they'd decided on kidnapping Sinan, Jayden had procured these. They contained a paralytic toxin that could render someone immobile for up to four hours.
One of their other companions had proposed that Sinan may only be getting puppeteered by his wealthy and influential father. If they succeeded in kidnapping him, they'd know soon enough.
Heidi stopped her daydreaming and joined Kanoa in meditation.
All the good her healing work had done her, undone in a day of fighting and bloodshed. She tried once more to focus on the parts of tension in her body. She couldn't even get a fix on herself anymore. It was all a mess. She quietened her mind, but once again the experience wasn't satisfactory. That point of bliss was out of reach…
When the crate shuddered they knew they were being moved. Some hours later they were lifted by crane, the floor tilting and everyone trying to keep steady. After they were set down things got quiet. Now all they had to do was wait for midnight.
When it was almost time they huddled together in a circle.
"Solvus has a curfew-" Engyo explained.
"Really? Even adults have curfews in Solvus?" Heidi interrupted.
"Yes." Tsukumo scolded. "Now shush."
"Civilians aren't allowed on the streets after ten o'clock and before four o'clock. But our best chance of getting out is at night. We just have to make sure none of the enforcers – the city guard – notice us. They'll stun first and ask questions later. Nobody is to stay back for me if I fall behind, understood?"
"You should've left this mission to us…" Tsukumo said to his mentor with concern.
"I couldn't let underage kids do this alone. No, I had to be here to guide you."
They put on black rubber suits for sneaking, on top of their daytime clothes. Engyo used a welding torch to bust the lock from the inside. The warehouse was huge - they were the second row of crates from the ground so climbed out one-by-one, dropping down onto concrete. No security guards in sight. They raced along, sticking close to the sides and looking for a way out.
The entryway was wide and open. They peered out and saw other warehouses and a tall fence but still no guards. They ran between buildings to the edge of the perimeter. Then once more Engyo used the welding torch to burn through a manhole to outside.
Beyond was a street. Even in the dark they could see how different it was to a regular city. It was orderly with not a speck out of place. On the next block they could see a street-cleaner machine making its rounds. Once they were out Engyo leaned the loose piece onto the fence, hoping it'd stay unnoticed until sunrise. Giant skyscrapers were in sight, crystal and lit up like casinos.
"You said enforcers do regular street patrols at all hours?" Tsukumo asked his mentor.
"That's correct."
"Then we better move."
It seemed they'd been lucky so far, but nobody wanted to say the words and jinx them.
They hurried along to an alleyway. It was wet; recently cleaned with a pressure-hose. There they remained out of sight behind a dumpster. They peered at all the night-workers who passed by every half-hour. The street cleaners wore white hazmat suits, sometimes with bulky equipment on their backs or driving cleaning vehicles. The enforcers wore light-grey uniforms with bulky firearms hanging against their chests. Nobody seemed to be running about looking for anyone, so maybe nothing had gone noticed after all. Then the sky finally brightened and traffic started to go by.
Their Trojan infiltration had been a success.
They stripped off their rubber suits and bagged them. As soon as they saw pedestrians they left the alleyway and joined them, stretching their stiff muscles.
"Let's find a place and we'll see if you two can feel out the other chosen." Engyo said.
The wealth of everyone wasn't extravagant. It was the finer details that subtly indicated value. The textures, colors and design. From jewelry to suits to inlaid gemstones. Even public transport workers were dressed like chauffeurs.
At a gleaming granite monument by orderly trees they found a small crowd getting on their knees and bowing over. A gold hoop at the top encapsulated the sunrise. It was the first of the daily prayers and worship that Solvus demanded, so to blend in they had no choice but to join and do as they did. Everyone else had mats. Some of those bowing with them were enforcers, their guns laid down beside them. Everyone looked entirely reverent. Kanoa stopped peering at them and closed his eyes. This would be as good a time as any to try reaching out to Venus.
It took thirty minutes.
After already spending so much time in cramped quarters, then hiding in precarious places, this was painful. But after the first ten minutes Kanoa was able to feel out a direction, even if Sinan seemed far away. After another ten minutes Kanoa got a better feel on Sinan's emotions. He could see Venus in his mind's eye, giving a bird-cry that seemed both curious and friendly. Please don't tip Sinan off. Kanoa tried communicating to her. This won't work if Sinan knows we're coming... When the praying was over everyone stood matter-of-factly, rolling up their mats and heading off for their daily duties. Kanoa's knees were sore, and the others surrounded him, shaking their legs also.
"Did you find him?" Tsukumo asked.
"Yes. And we need to hurry, Sinan is about to be on the move."
It took half of Kanoa's concentration to not lose where he'd pin-pointed Sinan in his mind. After realizing public transport was free they boarded various different busses, Kanoa telling them when to get off and change direction. They were two streets away from him when a BOOM led to loud gasping and brought traffic to a halt.
They jumped out of their seats.
"Let us out." Kanoa demanded the driver and he pressed a button, the doors hissed open.
Kanoa jogged down the road to where an enormous boulder had flattened the front-half of a limousine. He slowed with eyes wide. Did it fall from the sky? It looked completely out of place, not a chunk off some building but a grey egg-shaped rock over fifteen feet tall.
The backdoor was kicked open and out crawled a boy, looking banged up.
"Sinan..." Kanoa murmured.
"Sinan!" Heidi yelled and ran over.
Kanoa followed and they stopped a few feet from their fellow chosen. Someone appeared behind them.
"You two, huh?" There was a smile in the mystery girl's voice. Suddenly everything burned black.
Heidi only had a brief second to recognize the cold as Urobach's teleporting power before she was spat out on a roof, followed by Kanoa then Sinan. On their hands and knees, the three of them looked up as Amira appeared standing in front of them.
"This cannot be..." Kanoa muttered.
"Where am I?" Sinan demanded and was ignored.
Heidi stood, registering Amira's new clothes and make-up. She adjusted to the situation.
"Kettou da! You and I have a score to settle!"
"Yoshi. It's been a while, Heidi..."
The two former chosens and former friends stepped backwards to make room. Amira was smirking while Heidi glared. The boys cleared out the way. Kanoa watched on nervously from behind his comrade. Mirroring him, Sinan stood behind Amira, uncertain but brows furrowed as he observed.
Four chosens together - their quintet almost but not quite complete.
As tables appeared the girls stepped up.
A burgundy sphere appeared between them, crackling with energy. The next second it expanded, swallowing all four of them and trapping them within a field littered with black stars. Four gold tablets with ancient inscriptions were at each corner of their match. Whatever this new field was it felt vastly beyond the power of their phoenixes.
"I made this deck especially for you, Heidi. I knew we'd duel one day." Amira stated.
"I get it now." Heidi said. "The chosen we lost was you. Running from your destiny is one thing, but joining up with the people trying to take over the world? That's low!" She slammed her deck down, shields appearing with a low fizzle.
"...it couldn't be helped."
"Couldn't be-!?"
"After I left you that day when we finally escaped the Coal Province, I thought that somehow you or the military would find me again." Her winged eyes lowered as her shields also deployed. "But the lieutenants did. And the rest is history."
"They forced you?" Heidi demanded.
"At first. But don't you see that this is our only shot of getting out alive? Why else do you think Pluto chose me, and Venus chose Sinan?"
Kanoa stepped forward "You're not Pluto's chosen anymore. I can sense that your link with him is broken. But I can also sense… that you're holding Mars!" He pointed and the others gasped.
"He can sense that?" Sinan murmured in surprise.
Amira recovered "Way to spoil the surprise… You really have honed your connection to your phoenix better than the rest of us. Probably just as much as the water chosen."
Heidi found her voice "You have Mars!? He isn't lost!? How could you possibly have him!?" Her shouts got increasingly louder.
Amira took the initiative and charged fire-water.
Heidi wasn't going to let it drop "Amira! Hand him over right now!"
"Maybe if you beat me."
With a growl she pulled aggressively from her deck then charged fire-nature.
Amira summoned "Atsuto, Duel Hero Strategist!" A suited man in a cape leapt out, holding a lollipop. He gave their opponent a wink and gleaming smile. "I draw two then discard two." Amira tossed Cebu Shuteron and Rumbrag. "Turn end."
"I cast Mendelssohn!" Heidi yelled, adding Bolshack Dogiragon and Glenmalt Final to her mana.
"I summon Dolmark-2, Shadow Warrior!" A demonic purple robot joined her other creature, both on 2000.
"A distas. Is she using dispectors?" Heidi murmured to herself. "That mana she played was fire. I don't think there are any fire-water-dark dispectors yet. Her strategy probably has something to do with this field we're trapped in… but I've never seen it before."
"She has a hyperspatial zone too." Sinan pointed out. "It must be a very adaptive deck."
"Be careful, Heidi!" Kanoa warned. "I have a bad feeling…"
They all had a bad feeling, but Kanoa seemed to be implying something more.
"Alright Amira, get ready because I'm never letting you get away again!" Heidi declared as she drew "I cast Duelist Charger!" Three cards shone red as they floated off her deck. "Bolshack Dragon goes to my hand, Ryusei the Earth and Glenmalt "Head" go to the bottom of my deck!" That left her with six mana, it was all she could do at the moment.
"To be honest I expected rush, but I suppose we've both evolved beyond that. I summon Onimoel-2, Warrior and end!" A card reminiscent of one Heidi used to have joined her other creatures.
Kanoa's eyes widened "I see! Darkness is allied with both fire and water. You're not the type to use dark-fire, but the added fire in this deck is supposed to represent the mark Heidi left on you while you were together!"
"Are you seriously trying armchair psychology on me?" Amira asked.
"I know I'm right!" Kanoa persisted. "Heidi said you sucked hope from her when you were together. But she also inspired you with her bravery! It scares you, so you're trying to get rid of it by battling Heidi!"
Amira stared at him.
"I summon Bolshack Dragon!" The older creature now reimagined as a twinpact emerged, roaring and spreading wings of metal. Heidi grinned, she could trust her partner Kanoa to help get through to Amira.
"Interesting theory." Amira said coldly. "But you're wrong. The reason I added fire to my darkness-water cards was so I could do this."
Heidi felt a pulse of something. It was what Kanoa felt but she couldn't pinpoint it until now.
Amira raised her arm "I evolve Atsuto, Dolmark-2 and Onimoel-2 into Supernova Mars Disaster!" The cards slid together and a shining red one was dropped on top. Fire erupted on Amira's field and her three creatures were pulled together, the vortex spat up into an inferno and out came the familiar songbird cry. Mars spread flaming wings as he emerged, turning his beak down at Heidi and watching with burning white eyes.
He'd let himself be summoned. But without Heidi there was no red cloak covering their duel.
Heidi stared up at him. Her eyes glistened with emotion and she couldn't help the small laugh of relief that came out.
"Mars? Buddy, is that you?"
He stared back without response.
Heidi wiped her eyes with her arm "Thank goodness… it really is you… I missed you… a lot."
"You don't have Mars anymore, Heidi. Like me you betrayed your phoenix. We're really not so different anymore. And there's no reason - for any of us here, to go along with Engyo's bullshit anymore." Amira stated.
"But the prophecy-!" Kanoa yelled.
"Fuck the prophecy." Amira snapped. "I end my turn, by the way."
"Heh…" Try as Heidi might to wipe her tears away they kept coming. "What's wrong? Mars isn't willing to attack me?"
"Don't be so sure. This field we're in prevents all my creatures from attacking unless they're commands, initials or Forbidden. The point of this - of all of this - is to make a point."
Even with that important hint neither her, Kanoa nor Sinan could guess what the field was.
Heidi let her eyes run, drawing Explosive Ninpo Phoenix Jutsu. Without Dokindam it was useless, but at least it could be mono-coloured mana.
"I cast another Mendelssohn!" Both cards were MaltNEXT and added as mana. "I summon Ryusei the Earth! A speed attacker!" The fire-nature dragon with a gold thunderbolt on its head released a shaking roar. "Bolshack Dragon, double break!" It flew forth, its hand burning red before smashing glass. Amira shielded herself but when a card shone she turned it around.
"Guard strike! Pikagajira stops Ryusei from attacking this turn!" A transparent hologram of the purple demon zapped the other dragon with its sword, forcing it down.
"Ugh, fine. Turn end!"
"Are you seriously gonna ignore everything I'm saying?" Amira said as she drew. "I didn't want to kill any of you. That's why I keep giving you chances-"
"You keep trying because you want to alleviate your own guilt!" Heidi yelled. "You don't care about us! You just don't want to be the only chosen betraying the planet so you're trying to get us to join Urobach too! Even though he's wiped out millions of lives and wants to kill even more people-!"
"I summon Jigoku Parthenon, Concatenated Sentenced Spirit!" Amira's voice was unexpectedly harsh. "I shieldify with Ex-life, and since it's a command I also remove the first seal from Forbidden Star ~ World's Last Day ~!" A gold-purple demon appeared; behind it a shield rebuilt itself. Then one of the gold tablets exploded into rubble. "I can destroy a creature with power 1111 or less, but it seems you're not using weaklings anymore. As I end my turn Jigoku forces you to discard your last card! Turn end!"
Dogiragon Nova shone purple in Heidi's hand and she dropped it.
After drawing she'd hoped for better but it was something, at least. "I summon a second Bolshack Dragon! Ryusei the Earth double breaks!" The dragon sneered as it charged up, releasing a solar blast that fried her Ex-life shield among one other.
"Guard strike!" This time she revealed Dolmark-2, the purple robot hologram flying through Bolshack and making it sag.
Amira drew without another word; Mars remained a quiet spectator as it watched them both. "Damn… I cast Hyperspatial Onishura Hole! I bring out Convoy Trailer Temporal Commander and end!" The twinpact spell summoned a vortex with blue lightning, and out came a psychic creature disguised as a long truck. A blocker on 5000. "Jigoku breaks a shield and as I end my turn you must discard it!" Her creature flew through the far-right shield. Scramble Change shone purple as it was lost. "...This wasn't how this was supposed to go." Amira sounded hopeless, tears now brimming at her eyes too.
Clearly what Heidi said had shaken something in her.
Heidi pulled from her deck. She was caught by surprise then grinned.
"The fact you have Mars changes nothing. I've made mistakes, stumbled, fallen and got back up! I'm still a phoenix duelist! I evolve Ryusei and my Bolshacks into Supernova Apollonus Dragerion!" Likewise the three dragons were pulled together into a flaming fusion. Three evo-crystals spun into nuclear suns. Apollonus arose as a red, devil-Hindu deity with six arms. A long howl; Amira's eyes widened.
"Another phoenix?" Sinan gasped.
"The phoenix from my dreams." Heidi clenched her fist and looked up to make eye contact with her former partner. "Mars… I'm sorry I threw you away before. I wasn't thinking. So much of that day is still blurry. If you'll have me back again, I promise I'll help you finish what we started!"
He dipped his head before glowing entirely red. A scarlet stream arced from Amira's table to hers, the glowing card lifting up and being carried to its rightful owner.
Amira stared before her eyes narrowed.
In a flash of blackness she teleported, snatching the card in mid-air and landing in a roll. She slipped it into her jacket pocket and zipped it closed.
"Dammit… give Mars back, Amira!" Heidi yelled.
"No."
"I use meteorburn to boost Apollonus Dragerion to 30,000 power and give him world breaker! Attack!" Heidi shouted.
In a blink Amira teleported back to safety, behind her table.
"Convoy Trailer blocks!" Its horn blared before it drove out, getting consumed by the stellar nova. Everyone cried out and grunted, the roof shaking from the violent assault. After it was done the remnants of Amira's vehicle were sucked back into hyperspace, leaving a smoking crater.
A winged purple demon appeared, a 7000 blocker "You want to be the hero Heidi? Fine. I summon Pikagajira, Concatenated Shine Dark! I shieldify again with Ex-life. I remove the second seal and give Jigoku slayer for the turn!" Another tablet exploded into rubble. Amira smiled at Heidi's expression. "Uh oh. Attack Supernova Apollonus Dragerion!" It sailed forth, swinging its clubbing weapon and causing both to shine brightly before exploding.
"No…" Heidi drew. "I summon Batocross Battle, Passion Dragon! His power lets him automatically battle your blocker!" The resplendent four-armed dragon eagerly flew but a shield moved between them.
"Pikagajira's Ex-life shield goes to the graveyard instead." Amira said and raised her forearms as glass went flying. "And now, I have enough mana to summon Rumbrag, Concatenated Dragon Fear from my graveyard! I remove the third seal and give Pikagajira power attacker +2222. Attack Batocross Battle!" Its laser sword strengthened and it flew over, carving the fighter in two. "This ends my turn."
"There's only one seal left…" Kanoa spoke worriedly.
Another Ex-life created Amira's third shield but her blocker was tapped. With no cards in her hand and no idea what was coming, it was all up to Heidi's next draw.
She pulled.
"I summon Glenmalt Final Dragon Edge! I equip him with Batogaiheart, Explosive King Sword!" The armored hero raised his hand with a battle-cry, electric chains whipping up and prizing open a passage for a mighty blue sword to fall through. "Double break!" He sprang across battle zones, slashing two shields. "I reveal my top card! Glenmalt "Head" Dimension Dragon Edge!" Another dragon emerged furiously with a champion rider. "Dragsolution! Batogaiheart becomes Batogaiginga, Explosive King Deluxe!" A huge 12,000 shogun dragon with multiple arms joined the battle.
Heidi pointed "Glenmalt "Head" breaks your last shield!" Fire burnt away the panel.
"Guard strike on Batogaigina!" Amira yelled once more, a hologram stopping the new creature in its tracks.
"Mana Arms 7! Glenmalt "Head" brings out Gaiheart, Galaxy Sword and it dragsolutions into Gaiginga, Passionate Star Dragon! I destroy Pikagajira and that's the end of this duel!" Fire rained down on the creature and now Amira was standing shieldless before the starry giant. She showed no fear however.
"What? Not going to attack?"
"No. You were chosen, Amira. As much as you don't want to be. You're meant to be one of the good guys!"
"I'm not a good guy." She turned over the Falconer Lightfang Ninja in her hand. "And since you're not going to continue, I'll go! I summon Jaga A Lzor, Hybrid Indignant Sea! The last command I need to break the final seal!" It swam in and after the fourth tablet blew apart the entire dome seemed to vibrate, along with everything inside it. "Big Bang Liberate! Dormageddon X, Forbidden Armageddon!"
An imploding silence - like everyone had been struck deaf and blind. Then an explosion of power that blew away the dome, making the sky and city visible once more. The floating titan was vaguely reminiscent of Heidi's Dokindam X, only this version was made of molten rock. Torii gates fell from the sky, knocking all four of Heidi's giant dragons to the ground, shaking and splitting the concrete.
"999,999 power!" Amira declared as a ceaseless wind blew everyone's hair and made the boys stumble about as they watched.
"That's almost a million." Heidi mouthed.
"I'm getting rid of you! And the hero inside of me!" Amira yelled "ATTACK!"
White engulfed everything. Everything, surely atomized.
