For several moments the only sound that could be heard in the guild hall was the quiet sobbing of the young Dragon Slayer as a young woman gently hold him as she stroked his messy black and white hair.
"Mom, I was so scared. You were there when I fell asleep and when I woke up you were gone and I was lost in a forest." Shin explained through small sobs, braking the relative silence in the hall. "I looked and looked and I couldn't find you anywhere, but I got out of the forest and found my way here and met the old man and Wendy."
Tsukiyomi continued to hold him and smiled gently at him. "I am so sorry my Little Moon, I did not wish to hurt you so but I had a promise to keep with the other dragons when I took you as my son." She replied softly
Wendy's eyes widened at this as the stared at the Stranger. "Other dragons? D-do you mean my mother too?" She asked, Shin looked up at his mother as well curious as to her answer.
Tsukiyomi looked over at the young blue haired girl for a brief moment. "If you mean Grandeeney then yes she was one of them, but it was Igneel the Fire Dragon King's plan."
The two Slayers look at her in shock. "Y-you mean you both meant to abandon us." Shin asked as his and Wendy's eyes started to water as they interpret Ed her words
Tsukiyomi shook her head. "No, at least not in the way you are thinking." She replied as she stared at the two children who looked back at her in confusion. "To explain I would first have to explain the price humans pay for learning Dragon Slayer magic."
Wendy and Shin looked at her with even more confusion. "The price?" Wendy asked as she slowly walked over and retook her seat at the table. "Do you mean how we get tired after using too much magic?"
Tsukiyomi shook her head. "Not exactly.. Dragon Slayer magic is very potent and the way is is learn is most effectively is by a Dragon imparting part of their magic to you, this however carries a curse, what is known as the Dragon seed." She explained as she took a seat, keeping Shin in her lap. "The stronger one gets in their Dragon magic the more the seed grows till it finally hatches. The problem is the human body cannot handle the seed and it begins to morph and change their body into that of a dragon."
Shin and Wendy's eyes and mouths opened in shock at this and glanced towards each other before turning back to Tsukiyomi. "But what does this have to do with the Dragon's going away months ago?" Shin asked in a curious but worried tone.
His mother turned to him blinked.. "Months? ... Ah yes I suppose to you two it would seem that way. She replied as her hand continued to gently play with his hair her statement leaving the two even more confused. "Tell me has anyone you talk to actually seen a dragon before? She asked politely to which both Slayer shook their heads. "That's because it's been almost four hundred years since we left you not just a month or two" She revealed causing to two's eyes to widened in shock. "We used a special type of magic to send you forward in time. The others left just before the spell was cast to developed the cure for their slayers so they do not have to risk the transformation."
After a few moments the two settled down and Wendy let out a sigh of relief but then her eyes widened once more. "But if your here what about Shin?" She asked in a concerned voice as she glanced over at him.
Tsukiyomi turned her head back to Wendy and shook her head. "I do not have a cure, nor do I think he needs one, I have faith in my son that he can control himself." She explained as she turned her head back to face him. "If you do not wish to be a dragon I shall depart, I can still search for a way for you to be a normal human."
Shin stared up at his mom wide eyed at what he had just been told. After taking a few moments to think about it he looks her dead in the eyes. "Will I be able to look like a human just like you do now?" He asked.
Tsukiyomi nodded with a soft smile. "It was a bit troublesome at first but I can show you how to do so when you do become a dragon." She replied with a small smile on her face. "I should warn you now it will be hard, you may never truly taste, smell or feel things the same way again once you transform, but my training can help you overcome it, if you are sure you want to travel down this path."
Shin blinked in slight confusion at his mother's words and glanced down at the floor for a few moments as the whole guild hall waited in silence. Soon he raised his head and stared her in the eyes. "I will do it mom, I will make you proud of me both as a human and a dragon." He answered determinedly.
Tsukiyomi stared at her son with a somewhat blank expression, but to those who truly knew her would know she was shocked at his decision. After a moment she collected herself and smiled at her son. "If that is your wish then I will do my best to prepare for that day." She replied as she gave him one last hug before setting him down on a chair beside her.
"Starting tomorrow I will continue your training as a Moon Dragon slayer." She said before she glanced over at Wendy. "You can join us as well, I may not know Sky magic but you might gain some knowledge from my teachings."
Wendy's eyes widened and she nodded excitedly. "Thank you Miss Tsukiyomi." She replied with a eager smile.
Tsukiyomi nodded before she turned her attention to her bag."I might have something the two of you can use, though it might take a while to learn." She said as her hand fished through her bag, eventually fishing out four books handing two of them to Shin and two to Wendy. "I have gathered much during these last four hundred years these four books are nigh impossible to find currently, be sure not to loss them." She explained
The two Slayers nodded as they glanced down at their gifts, deep in thought, suddenly a sharp clap broke through the focus of their minds. "You will have plenty of time to study them later for now eat breakfast and just do some minor work in the guild hall."Roubaul said before he turned to Tsukiyomi. "I would like to speak with you later tonight if you are willing."
Tsukiyomi stared at him for a few moments before she nodded. "Very well we can talk after the kids go to sleep." She replied.
Later that night.
All was quiet in the guild hall after the excitement of the morning as Tsukiyomi made her way through the guild hall and recalled the events of the day.. Shin had spent most of the day regal his mother with his and Wendy's adventures since they joined the guild and she listened with deep interest to her son, a gently smile on her face as she watch him interact with the young sky slayer. But soon her smile vanished and her eyes narrowed as she came to a stop in front of Roubaul who was still in his seat at the end of the guild hall.
"So you wanted to see me?" She asked the gently tone in her voice from her time spent around her son was gone, replaced with something close to cold indifference.
Roubaul looked up at her after taking not of this and nodded. "Yes and thank you for coming once the little ones were settled. Though I am a bit surprised, considering how close you seem to young Shin I would have thought you would have stayed with him a bit longer before meeting with me."
Tsukiyomi did not show any emotional reaction to his statement she continued to stare at him for a few moment before speaking again. "I had to confirm if this guild is a threat to my son or not." She replied simply causing Roubaul to look at her in shock.
"A threat to your son?! I have taken care of him since he has got here, given him a home. Not to mention his friendship with young Wendy, surely you don't think she is a threat to Shin." He replied angrily.
Tsukiyomi continued to stare him down as her eyes narrowed. "That's a interesting choice of words, "I" and not "We"." She replied before she darted forward and grabbed Roubaul by the neck. "Now the next words out of your mouth spirit have better be why you place my Son and his friend under such a intricate illusion spell and trust me if I do not like the answer you will not see the light of day." She growled as her magic slowly leaked out of her human body.
Roubaul's eyes remained wide at her actions and her words. "It was not my original intention to cast a illusion on your son, just on Wendy, she was left here by another young boy who pleaded with me to take care of her and I agreed." He replied as he tried to calm down, hoping his answer would satisfy her. "When Wendy woke up she asked if this place was a guild since her friend promised to take her to one, put on the spot I decided to lie to make the girl happy and say it was. Not a few days later as I was readying my illusion young Shin shows up. He and Wendy became close due to their shared history so he chose to stay and I was forced to cast the spell on him as well."
Tsukiyomi stared at him for a few moments before removing her hand. "Very well Spirit I believe in your intentions, and I apologize for my actions." She said with a slightly bow. "UT your answer still leaves the question, why are you here and not moved on?"
Roubaul sighed and looked down at the ground. "I am a member of the Nirvit tribe and for one as long lived as you I am sure that name will ring a bell or two." He said as he chanced a glance at the dragon and saw indications of recognition in her eyes. "Deep, deep in the woods outside of this guild is buried the weapon my tribe foolishly built, I have tried many a time to destroy it but alas I am but a spirit now so I wait for someone to come who can destroy the abomination that was created so I may finally rest." He explained as he looked her directly in the eyes. "One such as yoursel-"
"The answer is no." Tsukiyomi interrupted. "Even through I plan on staying here to train my son and his friend and even joining this make believe guild of yours I will not destroy your mistake for you. It was humans who created it thus humans should be the ones to destroy it." She explained as she turned to leave.
"And what about Acnologia?" Roubaul called out causing Tsukiyomi to stop. "By your logic should it not be a dragons job to handle that monster?"
Tsukiyomi said nothing for a few moments before she glanced back at the old spirit with a hardened stare. "As you said we dragon are at fault for that monster and our plan is already in motion, the Dragon King's days are numbered." She replied and left the room, leaving Roubaul alone in the guild hall.
"I hope your right, if not for the world's sake then for Wendy and Shin's." He muttered to himself before closing his eyes to try and get some sleep.
