Three || Fox
She woke to feel sunlight shining into… wait, where was she?
She tried to scramble to her feet, only to fall back down to her feet because of a pain in her leg.
"You're awake! Also, don't move yet." A cheerful voice said. "How do you feel?"
"Fine. Just fine."
"Alright!"
"Who are you?" She asked.
"Berrymark." The cheerful voice said. "What about you?"
"Fox."
"Just Fox?" Berrymark asked.
"Mhm."
"I see where you got it."
"Where am I?" Fox asked.
"Thunderclan medicine den. I'm their medicine cat. Shatteredeyes is the other medicine cat but he's gathering herbs."
Fox had the feeling someone else was here. " Is anyone else here? " She asked.
"Just Stripepaw. He got into a fight with some foxes at the gathering last night. He isn't hurt, surprisingly, and luckily didn't hurt any cats in our clan, but Daisypaw from Windclan got bit. And I'm pretty sure they said Frogstar got clawed pretty badly."
"Why is he here then?"
"He has to hunt and watch over you as a punishment." Berrymark explained.
"I'm not a kit!" Fox protested.
"You are our guest, plus , he's the one who snuck out of camp and found you."
Ugh. Fox thought. Wait… that name is familiar.
"You also have a scar that looks old, so I went ahead and checked it but it has no infection so it should be fine." Berrymark said.
It suddenly felt like her eye had been ripped out and she yelped.
"What! Are you okay?"
"My eye…" Fox murmured.
"What happened?"
"It hurts…"
"Were you born blind or not?" Berrymark questioned her.
"No…"
"How are you blind then?"
"Moonlight berries…"
"What are-" Berrymark started.
"Maybe they are death berries?" A voice which Fox remembered to be Stripepaw. From my dream!
"Did you eat them?"
"No… I fell and they got in my eye…" She lied.
"I've never heard of that. I'll tell the other medicine cats about that at the next gathering!" Berrymark exclaimed.
"Heard of what?" A new voice said. Fox guessed it was Shatteredeyes, because he smelled of herbs.
Berrymark explained what Fox had just said.
"I was born blind, so I don't know anything about that." Shatteredeyes sounded careless. "Also there is a huge patch of yarrow by Snakerocks. We should gather it in case one of the kits wants to try prey and eats crow food instead."
"Alright. Stripepaw, can you stay with Fox for now?" Berrymark asked.
"Sure." He responded.
Once they had left, Stripepaw told Fox, "You were in my dream last night."
"And that's how you found me. I already know."
Annoying furball.
Two other voices entered her ear, as she guessed, they were entering the den.
"Stripepaw!" A she called.
"Yeah? There's no need to shout, Shadowpaw." Stripepaw sounded as if he were stifling his laughter at her.
"You have no idea, Stripepaw!" Another she said..
"What?"
"Hopestar made us hunt for you! And you didn't say thank you!" Shadowpaw giggled.
"That's not true! I mean, we did hunt for you but she didn't make us!" The other said, obviously annoyed.
"Ugh, Snowpaw, you are such a fluff-brain! You ruin everything!" Shadowpaw complained.
"No I don't!" Snowpaw argued.
"Those are my sisters, Snowpaw and Shadowpaw." Stripepaw whispered to Fox.
"Do you know what time it is?" Shadowpaw asked. Fox guessed this question was for her.
"About to be sundown."
"Wow, you're good for being blind."
"Shadowpaw!" Snowpaw and Stripepaw both hissed at once.
Snowpaw dropped a vole for Stripepaw.
"I'll take that as a compliment." Fox mewed.
"That's Shadowpaw. I'm Snowpaw." Snowpaw's voice mewed.
I already know that! Fox thought to herself.
"We're siblings!" Shadowpaw added.
A fresh wave of guilt passed through Fox. "I won't forget you my brother…" She whispered under her breath.
Shadowpaw sighed, "I have to go give the kits badger rides. Kits are so-"
"Badger!" Fox screeched.
Fox could hear cats running, claws unsheathed, ready to fight.
"Badger! My brother! Where is he? No! No! Don't kill him!" She could almost see her brother.
I'll always watch over you, Foxstar. Badger's voice said.
My name's not Foxstar…
Fox couldn't think straight. "Don't kill him! Please!" She screeched.
Cats tried to help as Fox collapsed.
Why…?
She felt a pain in her neck and it went black.
