Scott's school years were full of fights. Most of those were due to us younger siblings getting bullied, but not all of them. Scott would often stand up for others, people we didn't know.

Sometimes those people would have died recently.

I remember one time Scott took on three skateboarders because they had knocked over a vase of flowers as a tribute to a young boy who had recently died in an accident. He beat them and made them apologise to the child before telling it to get going to Heaven, or wherever such souls go. He was lucky that time though. Virgil had come to see why Scott was late and was just in time to stop one of the thugs bashing Scott's brains out with a lump of concrete.

Scott's really good at protecting us, but sometimes he also needs help. It's a good job Virgil is so strong. He can – and did – pick up a man and throw him some distance. Our big bear doesn't like to talk about it though and he hates having to use his strength.

I once thought Virgil had superpowers but he denied it vehemently, saying he just liked working out. Whatever, man. What I do know is that Virgil always has Scott's back, and all of ours of course, but he's always right there when Scott needs him to be. Gordon and I say it's because they're psychic.

Now our little family has grown to include others. There's Lady Penelope Creighton-Ward. Gordon and I are constantly ribbing Scott that she's into him, but he always frowns at us and tells us 'we're just really good friends.' Like, whatever, man. We are not deceived.

John is the quietest of us all, but even he smirks when we discuss this. Penny lately introduced us to a new guy that has been helping us. His name is Conrad. He's ok, I guess. A bit competitive and he gives Scott the eye sometimes. I'm not sure what his deal is so I keep a watch on him.

We live on an island now so Scott doesn't see souls like he used to. I think it's a little bit of a relief for him in a way. It's not a subject that comes up in normal conversation, and Dad taught us all early on to never mention it for fear they would take our brother away.

Penny doesn't know about it, and I don't think Rigby does either. I know the GDF doesn't.

But we do and we help him to carry this when he's on a rescue and someone dies. Scotty says he doesn't see everyone, only some souls that are lost and need him to point the way.

And then one day the world exploded around us.
