"I can't feel my arm." Sonny attempted to wriggle free, but couldn't budge. He was effectively pinned in place.
"I'm stuck too," Amanda murmured quietly. "How much longer 'til backup gets here?" She shifted uncomfortably.
"Can't see my watch, but I'm hopin' not too much longer." He leaned back and closed his eyes. "Think we're okay to try to get some sleep in the meantime?"
"I don't know if we want to take our eyes off them," Amanda said. She tilted her head down to where Billie was passed out on her chest, one thumb in her mouth, the other curled around a New Year's Eve noisemaker. "She's finally out."
Sonny chuckled quietly as he attempted to adjust the arm that was currently being occupied by Noah Porter-Benson. "Uncle Sonny," Noah said sleepily. "You're wiggling."
"Shhh, sorry buddy. Go back to sleep. Mommy should be here any minute," Sonny whispered back. He looked over Noah's curls to where Jesse was crashed between the two of them, snoring quietly in a foil New Year's tiara and her pink princess pajamas. He shook his head in amusement.
Amanda brushed a piece of Billie's blonde hair back behind her ear. "At least my feet are warm," she noted, nodding at Jesse's pink footie-covered feet that were splayed over her own.
"Ooh, that would wake 'em up," Sonny offered. "Stick one of those icicles out."
"I would hit you if my arms weren't full," Amanda threatened him. There was a gentle knock on the door, and she shook her head. "Saved by the bell, Counselor."
"I think that's a knockout," Sonny countered.
"It's too late for dad jokes, Carisi," Amanda rolled her eyes. "It's open!" she called softly.
Olivia let herself in, brushing snow off her black peacoat. "Oh, looks like it was quite the party," she said with a soft laugh.
"Boys at the 16th only had to give us a noise violation once," Sonny winked. Olivia gently raised Noah to a sitting position and Sonny extricated his arm, wincing at the pinpricks that shot through his fingers as feeling returned to them.
"Was he good for you guys?"
"'Course he was," Sonny said, shifting carefully as Jesse returned her head to his leg and flung an arm over his waist.
"Thank you guys so much for babysitting," Olivia said as she helped Noah into his coat and shoes.
"Anytime," Amanda assured her. "He and Jesse had a blast. Happy New Year, Liv."
"Oh yeah, it's about that time," Sonny noted, looking at the confetti flying in Times Square on TV. "Happy New Year, Lieu."
"You guys too. See you Tuesday." Olivia let her and Noah out of the apartment, leaving Sonny, Amanda, and the girls alone in the quiet.
Jesse was snoring softly in his lap and Amanda was rubbing small circles on Billie's back. Sonny took a breath and let it out, content. "These guys would probably prefer their beds," he said quietly. "Not that I don't love this couch, but real sleep is soundin' pretty good right now."
Amanda caught his eye. "Really?" she said. "'Cause you know, I was thinking maybe we let them sleep out here and we ring in the New Year in my room."
"Hope you aren't expectin' anything spectacular," Sonny retorted. "I still can't feel my arm. Kid's growin' like a weed."
Amanda carefully set Billie down in her pack and play and slid Jesse off Sonny's legs. "You aren't going to need it," she said, pulling him to his feet.
