Chapter 4 Diagon Alley.
A.n hey Jones man here with chapter 4 sorry about the wait, Thank you to all my readers and their support. I'm doing my best to get the story posted but I just started a new job so please be patient. Thank you and happy holidays enjoy.
The group noticed many odd shops selling a variety of things. Candy, pets, potion ingredients, and supplies for something called Quidditch? What caught Blake's attention was Flourish and Blotts, a big bookstore. She knew she needed to convince the group to stop there, even to just look in the windows, before they left this alley. Before anyone could wander into the open stores, Harry directed them to a building at the end of the alley. Gringotts Bank was an unimpressive white building but Harry was determined to get there. As the group walked up to it, they noticed there was some writing on the door.
{"Enter, stranger, but take heed
Of what awaits the sin of greed
For those who take, but do not earn,
Must pay most dearly in their turn.
So if you seek beneath our floors
A treasure that was never yours,
Thief, you have been warned, beware
Of finding more than treasure there."}
"Is that supposed to be a threat or a challenge?" Neo wondered out loud. Though they would never say it out loud, the Remnants thought the same thing when they read it.
"I think it's meant to be both," Harry said, not sure himself. His eyes widened as he realized something "Two things. One, it might not be a good idea to be armed inside this bank. Two, how do you lot feel about roller coasters?"
"Motion sickness." Jaune said with a wince.
"I was always too short." Neo pouted.
Weiss just shrugged. "I don't care for them."
"We liked them!" Ruby and Yang seemed to be the only ones enthusiastic about the question.
"Why do you ask?" Blake questioned Harry.
"The workers here might not care for their customers to be armed, so someone needs to stay behind and look after the weapons. Two, the way to get to my vault is through an underground rollercoaster."
"Hold on, your bank uses a roller coaster to get around?" Now Yang was excited. "I have to see this!" With a smile, she took the Gambol Shroud and tossed it and Ember Celica to Jaune. Weiss and Jaune wordlessly volunteered to stay behind with the weapons. Before she could protest, Yang grabbed Blake and started to drag her to the bank entrance. In the meantime, Harry gave a big piece of cloth to Jaune and Weiss before he, Ruby, and Neo followed them.
"Yang calm down! You're going to get us kicked out for causing a scene!" Blake gave a pointed look to a pouting Yang. Harry went ahead to open the door. The thing they saw was an impeccably furnished entranceway with tall tills and almost everything made of marble. They were the only humans in the room, as it was preoccupied with tiny people with ugly long noses and pointy ears.
Yang found the courage to whisper, "Harry, what are they?" as they watched the creatures pushing carts of gold coins.
"These are Goblins. They run this place and they protect our currency. That's why I had you leave the weapons outside, just in case. We don't want to give them the wrong message. They may not look it, but, in their ways, these Goblins are powerful." Harry explained. He walked up to a teller, spoke to the grumpy Goblin there, and followed the teller to a doorway at the end of the hall. The Goblin opened the door to reveal a big mine cart, with tracks that led straight into darkness.
Yang dragged Blake to the front of the cart while Neo got in the middle and Ruby and Harry sat in the back. Naturally, the Goblin sat with Yang and Blake. After they were seated, the cart took off fast.
As the cart twisted, turned, and did loops around the track, Ruby and Yang screamed with excitement. Neo and Blake just prayed that this would end as soon as possible. Harry just looked amused. When the cart stopped at their destination Blake jumped out of the cart to kiss the ground and prays to any god that would listen.
"What's the matter, kitty cat?" Yang teased her friend. "Did you not like the ride?"
"I wasn't ready for it to go that fast." Blake smacked Yang on the shoulder before looking over to see Harry and the others walking deeper into the caverns. Blake and Yang ran after them. Quickly catching up, they reached a big vault door. The goblin asked Harry for a key to open the vault, which Harry gave to the small creature.
The cavern door opened with a loud creak to reveal a mountain of gold and silver coins almost filling the whole room. Small treasures decorated the rest of the room. Everything in there spoke of wealth and opulence.
Harry was much richer than he let on.
"Whoever ends up with him is going to have a good life." Neo couldn't help but think. "Hell, he's rich enough that even I would consider going clean."
Ruby glared at the former mute before she grumbled out, "Yeah. Except, right after you get married, he'll have a sudden accident and suddenly you'll be filthy rich."
Blake rolled her eyes at the bickering two but privately thought the same thing. In the meantime, Harry was stuffing some coins into a small bag "Isn't there a better way to carry all that money?" Blake mumbled to herself. "Harry's practically asking to get mugged!"
The Goblin eyed her and Blake realized she'd just spoken out loud. Before she could apologize, the Goblin nodded. "I believe Mr. Potter does qualify for something new. But it is Mr. Potter's choice to accept the trial run or not." Harry nodded with consent. The goblin reached into his pockets and out a contract and a black quill. Harry took the quill and sighed contract then the contract burst into flames and left a card with the bank symbol on it behind. "We got the idea from what the Muggles call debit card. All you have to do is use this at any of the shops in Diagon Alley or Hogsmeade and it will pay for your purchases. No more hassling with exact change and no more lugging all that gold around." The Goblin sent a pointed look at Blake who flushed with shame.
"Why isn't this more known?" Harry suddenly frowned and sent the Goblin a look of sympathy. "Let me guess; the Purebloods?" The Goblin nodded. "Figures. Let's go meet up with the others and plan our next move. We might even be able to find some shops that are still open." Harry said before he realized something; never mentioning shopping in front of women. They were eerily smiling as they dragged him back to the cart.
After the girls dragged Harry out of Gringotts they looked around for Jaune and Weiss. "They should be around here," Ruby said. "We weren't gone that long."
Right as Ruby turned her head, Jaune removed the cloak Harry gave them earlier and he and Weiss appeared, literally out of nowhere. "What the!?" Ruby yelped.
"When did you two learn to do that?" Blake clutched her chest as Weiss gave the cloak back to Harry.
"Impressive cloak, Mr. Potter. What is this made of?" Weiss asked as Ruby wrapped the cloak around her forearm and watched in fascination as her arm disappeared and reappeared.
"This is awesome! Where did you get this?" Ruby asked with excitement. "And does it come in red?" No one didn't find her adorable, least of all Harry.
"This was my father's Invisibility Cloak. And to answer your question Weiss, I have no idea. The only thing I know is that it's been with my family for generations. Sorry Rose, but I believe this is the only color they come in." Ruby pouted adorably as Harry rolled up the cloak before stuffing it in his bag.
"Harry, are there any stores open around here?" Yang couldn't help but notice the sad condition of his satchel. Luckily, as late as it was, there were still some stores hoping for late-night shoppers. So a general shop was the first store they went to. In there, Yang spotted a black duffel bag with featherweight and expanded charms on it. Yang nodded as Harry explained to her what the charms meant before grabbing the bag and taking it up to the counter to pay for it. When they left the store, the Remnants quickly stuffed their weapons in the bag so they weren't carrying weapons. It was better to be safe rather than sorry. As soon as everyone was relieved of their weapons, Harry found himself being dragged into a clothing store by the girls. Jaune wearily followed them.
Jaune and Harry were promptly dumped by the girls in a comfy corner while the girls roamed around the store. Jaune, now dressed in a yellow t-shirt and some denim shorts, was drumming his fingers on a nearby table.
A clerk noticed the boys waiting and dutifully went over to assist them. "Waiting on your girlfriends, gentlemen?" The clerk asked.
"They aren't our girlfriends."
The clerk gave them an unconvinced look. "Okay then, but let me offer you two some advice: find one thing you like about your friend's outfits and compliment it. Do this, and it will make this whole process go so much faster." The clerk walked away, leaving the two boys in shocked silence.
"So," Harry tried to break the awkward silence. "you aren't dating any of them," Harry asked Jaune out of curiosity.
"No way man," Jaune answered as Weiss and Neo walked out. Weiss was in a white summer dress but kept her boots. Neo, on the other hand, had a pink t-shirt with brown pants and a light white jacket. Her boots and hat were the same as she had on previously.
"Looking good girls," Jaune said as Harry nodded. "Weiss, you look amazing. Neo that look fits you."
"Thank you, Jaune," Weiss said.
Blake came out next. The beanie Harry gave her was still on her head, along with a yellow t-shirt and black flannel overshirt with dark blue pants and tennis shoes. Yang came out behind her with a yellow sleeveless shirt that hugged her figure; along with a black leather jacket and small denim shorts. "You look amazing as always, especially the view back here."
"YANG!" She gave her friend a serious blush. As she turned, the boys realized what Yang was talking about. The pants hugged her behind like a glove.
"Like what you see boys?" Yang said as she caught them staring.
'Uh oh.' Harry thought. 'I think this is one of those questions where the girl will smack you either way.'
"Don't you think that's a little revealing?" Jaune asked them.
Harry just shook his head. 'If I see Hermione again, introduce Jaune to her in case he needs a dentist.'
"If you have the assets, show them off," Yang said with a wicked grin.
Finally, it was Ruby's turn to come out of the dressing room. "Hey fellas." She still had on her red hooded cape, along with a black and red t-shirt with her red shorts and a pair of black tennis shoes under it.
"You look amazing Ruby," Harry said honestly.
"Aw! Thank you, Harry." She said with a smile. Ruby noticed that Harry still had the clothes he had on when they left his relatives. "Why didn't you get anything?"
"I'm fine. We're here for you guys" Harry tried to reassure her. But with one look at those silver orbs, he knew he better choose something or she would choose something for him. "Okay okay! I'll find something."
"How," Harry thought as he headed over to the men's section. "can someone be so adorable, but so intimidating at the same time?"
After a few minutes of looking for clothes, Harry found himself in front of a mirror. He took in himself in a silky button-down green shirt with dark brown trousers and green and black trainers and hardly even recognized himself. Harry rarely bought new clothes for himself (the Dursleys certainly never saw that as necessary) so he couldn't help but stare at himself.
Ruby came up behind him. "That wasn't so bad, was it? Green looks good on you! It makes your eyes stand out more." The others nodded.
Harry paid for everyone's clothing. Upon meeting the rest of the group outside Blake insisted on stopping at Flourish and Blotts; a bookstore they had passed earlier. Within five minutes Blake looked like a kid on Christmas Day. Harry smiled. She reminded him so much of a young (and, funnily enough, current) Hermione. Blake looked back at the group with a wicked grin before she quickly disappeared into the aisles.
When they caught up to her she was in the potion section browsing through some books. She slid her hand across the covers. Then she stopped over one of the books before grabbing it off the shelf. Ruby came up behind Harry Blake's hand began to glow purple before she opened the book. She turned a few pages and then looked inside with a shocked expression before closing it and walking past her friends, clearly on a mission. Blake march up to the counter clerk and began to explain something. They didn't hear what was said, but Harry saw Blake flip through a few pages and then point out something to the man before he looked through it. He got to the part she pointed out and Harry saw his eyes nearly pop out. He frantically thanked thanking the young girl.
That's how Blake ended up leaving the store with two bags of books: one bag was filled with a mixture of history, culture, law, and other school-type books. The other bag seemed to be regular novels.
"Blake, what did you get at Flourish and Blotts?" Harry asked her.
"Just some books on your world's culture, history, etc. Plus some novels that seemed interesting." Harry heard laughing from Yang and Weiss and Ruby mumbled 'filth'. "Shut it! It's adult literature!" She reached into the first bag, sliding her hand across the books before stopping. She pulled her hand back with wide eyes before dragging Harry into an alleyway. The Remnants followed after them, Ruby shouting loudly for them to stop. Harry was too shocked to stop Blake. Everything about her seemed worried, so he let her drag him as long as she needed before the group caught up to them. Yang had to yank Blake's wrist to snap her out of it.
"What are you doing Blake?" Ruby asked harshly. "And mind your grip on Harry, will you?" Blake looked down and saw how hard her grip was before letting go with mumbled apologies. Harry told her it was fine.
"Are you going to tell us what upset you?" Yang said tossing an arm around her friend. Blake leaned into her touch.
"I'm fine, Yang. I just read something that disturbed me a bit." Blake tried to calm down.
"Read something? How? You didn't even open any of those books." Weiss inquired.
"Back in the store, I felt something. Blake explained. It felt like I knew the books; how they were written and how the writer found the information in them. Like that Potion book: I gave it back to the clerk because it was written with a faulty typewriter that misspelled a few words. When you're doing magic with them, horrible wording could be the difference between success or disaster."
"You didn't have that power before. How do you have it now?"
The cat girl cautiously answered Weiss. "It seems the magic in this world lets its users manipulate reality. When we fell into this world, we must have passed through some type of energy field. That energy mutated us and gave us new abilities. Like how Neo here can voice out what she is thinking instead of having to write everything out."
"That might explain how I made Harry's relatives truthful when we questioned them." The others turned to Yang for an explanation. "When I used my Semblance in our world, it was different. Here, if I ask someone to be honest or to tell the truth about someone, they had no choice but, to tell the truth." Jaune, Blake, and Weiss looked at her with a mix of amazement and disturbance.
"Yang, promise us you won't use this new power unless you need to," Blake said. Yang quickly promised her friend.
If what you're saying is true, then why don't have new abilities?" Weiss pointed to Ruby, Jaune, and herself.
Blake just shrugged. "I don't know. It could be like semblance; it'll come to you with time."
"It could be that you don't believe in the magic, therefore it won't work for you." Jaune nodded to Weiss. "Right, Ice Queen?"
"I'm more of a 'see it to believe it type of person," Weiss answered him honestly. "So far, I haven't seen anything that would be described as magic."
"It's a good thing we have a wizard with us," Neo smirked at Harry. "So, magic man, why don't you show us something interesting?"
Before he could explain, Blake explained in his stead. "Unless he wants to break the law, he can't. Underaged magic is a crime in this world." Blake gave Harry a curious look. "Then again, if we take into consideration where we are, he might be able to get away with something small."
"What do you mean?"
"It's the way they track magic that gives us this loophole," Blake explained. "You see, they can't tell who specifically is doing it in homes that have multiple magic users. Often the Ministry will just ignore it as long as it isn't a serious spell. Luckily for us, we are in a neighborhood that has multiple magic users. So if you use a spell that everyone would be using, you could get away with it. And I've got just the spell in mind. Harry, your wand if you please?"
Harry took out his wand as Blake began to dig around the duffle bag. She pulled out her weapon: some type of pistol with a blade on top. She also retrieved a torn black ribbon that seemed to have been tied around the pistol at some point. Blake held the two pieces next to each other before nodding to Harry. Harry waved his wand around them. "Reparo." The black ribbon strings started to magically attach. Before they could blink, the ribbon looked as good as new.
And no Ministry letter appeared, which means that Blake was right. That kind of information could be useful in the future.
"Still don't believe in magic, Weiss?" Neo thought snarkily.
"Where are you guys from? It's obvious you guys aren't from around here aren't you?" Harry asked the group as they look each other trying to decide which one is going to explain.
"What gave it away?" Neo sneered.
Harry ignored her snark. "A few things. The only thing I know about you six for sure is that you have not done anything to cause me harm. Therefore, you're all trustworthy."
"Tell me, Harry, have you ever heard of the multiverse theory?"
"Enough to know what it is. So you guys are from a different reality?"
"From what I've gathered, our world is much like this one. But with a few obvious differences." Her beanie twitched. "The only threat you have is other wizards. Our world merely has a pest problem." Blake said before giving Weiss a signal.
Weiss opened her hand. Ice shards swirled around to form a hornet-like creature. "This, Mr. Potter, is what's known as a Queen Lancer; one of the many types of Grimm in our world. They are soulless tar-like creatures that plague our world with a single purpose: mankind's extinction."
"So that's a grim!" Harry exclaimed before explaining. "A professor at my school told me that a grim is a black dog-like creature. Anyone that sees one dies."
"Your Professor is partially right," Ruby said with a chuckle. "Some might consider them death omens, and there are some that look wolf-like. But they can take on other appearances."
"From what you've told me, in your world, you are exterminators that deal with these creatures?"
Blake only shrugged. "Technically we have more in common with Aurors, but I think you've got the point."
"Then how did you end up here?"
"Long story short, we were on a mission to evacuate a kingdom before we got ambushed by a girl we thought was a friend. Cinder Fall ended up working with a dark witch named Salem, who controls the Grimm. We got separated from the others before falling into an abyss. Your world was what was on the other side."
"You're in a war in your world. No wonder you're taking all this in stride." Harry said, but privately thought, 'Does every world have an evil psychopath?'
"Yes," Weiss answered. "And we're in a bit of a hurry, so do you know any spells that will help us get back home?"
"I'm sorry but no. I don't know anything that would help you." Harry did feel genuinely bad that he couldn't help them, but there was something he could do. "But I promise that, as long as my name is Harry James Potter, I will find a way for you guys to get back."
"Thank you, Harry. That means a lot to us." Ruby said with her signature smile.
Harry blushed at her smile before they were interrupted by a growling sound from Neo. She gave them a look. "As much as I hate to interrupt this love-fest," She ignored their blushing protests. "you know a place to grab some grub, Potter?"
Harry told them the inn they passed through also served food, so they headed back to the entrance of Diagon Alley.
As they were walking, Jaune tapped Harry's shoulder. "Harry, do you think you can use your magic one more time?" Jaune pulled out a sword with a scabbard before un-sheathing the sword to reveal a broadsword that had been snapped in half.
"Perhaps, if I had the other pieces." Jaune simply pulled out two other pieces; one of which had blood on it.
"Jaune what happened to your sword?!" Ruby exclaimed.
"You know, I believe you lasted the longest out of all of us," Yang said. "So, Vomit-boy, what happened to the others?"
"Hey, I lasted a lot longer than you think, Xiao Long. But the good news is we got most of the people out thanks to my sister. Who is the new Winter Maiden, by the way." Yang snorted.
"What?" Yang shrugged at Weiss's glare. "You have to admit, your sister is becoming the maiden of winter is ironic."
Ruby was suddenly struck by a thought. "Wait, if she is the Maiden now, what happened to Penny?" Jaune just looked ashamed. "Jaune, what did you do?!" Ruby cried.
"Ruby, Cinder injured Penny badly. Cinder was about to absorb the Maiden powers." He sent her a sad look. "I had to do something."
Ruby couldn't bear to listen anymore. She rushed over to Jaune, hitting his chest and sobbing out, "We," Smack. "just," Smack "saved," Smack. "her," Smack. "only," Smack. "for her," Smack "to," Smack. "die," Smack. "again!" She pushed Jaune into a trash can before taking off into a burst of petals. Yang gave the downed boy a quick glare before chasing after her sister.
"Will Ruby be alright?" Harry asked. The poor boy couldn't understand why, but he felt the need to protect her. And her friends.
"She's fine." Blake gave Harry a curious look but softly said, "She just needs time to cool off. Plus, Yang is with her."
Harry looked back at a depressed Jaune who still held out his sword and its fragments. He walked to Jaune and told him to lay the sword down.
"Reparo." Harry circled his wand around the sword. The other pieces slowly started to melt together. But even though the sword mostly came together there were still some yellow cracks. Harry's tried to cast the spell again, but his wand suddenly became cold as ice. "What was that?" He thought.
"Harry, is everything all right?" Blake asked. Harry didn't know what happened to his wand, and he didn't want to scare his new friend, so he simply told her he was fine.
"Hold on." Weiss motioned for them to look at Jaune's sword. "Why is it that Arc's sword isn't as repaired as your ribbon was?"
Blake's mind whirled with ideas. "It could be a few things. If you take into account that Harry was attacked by soul-eating monsters and was chased by unfriendly wizards, it could just be exhaustion. Another option is his ability to sync with our weapons. We are not sure how his magic is supposed to work on us if we take dust into an account."
Why are they talking about dirt? "What does dirt have to do with this?"
Weiss looked like she was about to rant, but Blake stopped her by explaining. "It's not the kind of Dust you think it is. In our world, dust is a naturally occurring energy source from our world. It's used to fuel our homes and vehicles, and is our primary tool against the creatures of darkness." Harry might not have been a brilliant student like Hermione, but he held onto Blake's words with fascination.
"Perhaps he needs a demonstration?" Neo suggested.
"I would if I had any to spare." Weiss seemed to calm down with Blake's explanation and Harry's apparent intrigue. "We are far away from home, so we need to only use it when necessary."
"It's getting late." Blake noticed. "Weiss, Neo; you two take Jaune to the inn. Harry and I will go look for Ruby and Yang."
"Any idea where they could be?" Harry asked as they split up.
Blake seemed to think for a moment, then, "Are there any stores that sell weapons around here?"
They found the sisters outside of Ollivander's. The shop was closed, which only seemed to make Ruby more upset. As Harry walked up to Ruby, who looked just a little calmer than earlier, Blake smacked Yang's shoulder before wrapping her arms around her depressed friend.
"Did you get Jaune's sword fixed?" Ruby asked with a bit of venom in her voice. She still wasn't over what happened.
"Yes. How are you feeling?" Ruby gave him a small glare before staring back at the window at Ollivander's. "Okay," Harry thought. "bad question. Say, something Potter! Something that would get her mind off Arc." Cedric's dead eyes flashed through Harry's mind before he spoke. "I know what it's like to lose people. If you want to talk about it, I'm here." The awkward silence continued between the two before Harry tried one last thing. "Any chance you wanna come back to the Cauldron with us?"
"Is there anything good there?" Ruby asked.
"The soups are good. I heard roasted hog is a favorite there." Harry smiled, relieved that he was getting through to her.
Though the streets of Dragon Alley weren't too crowded, there were still quite a few stragglers. Harry reached back and took Ruby's hand as they moved through the crowd. The group finally reached the entrance to the inn. Harry turned back to see if the others kept up, but quickly noticed Blake and Yang giving him wry looks. He looked down and saw he still had Ruby's hand in his. The girl in question had a noticeable blush and quickly let go to explain to Yang before Harry ended up as her verbal punching bag. "It was crowded and I didn't want us to be separated." Yang and Blake gave each other knowing looks. Harry looked disappointed at her reason, but she quickly led them inside before there could be a discussion.
They didn't notice a pink-haired woman following them into the Cauldron.
Harry, Ruby, Blake, and Yang found the group at a table by the exit. They couldn't help but notice Weiss, Jaune, and Neo all had somber expressions. "Is there something wrong?" Harry asked them.
They wearily looked at each other before Neo threw a newspaper down. Harry saw the front page and winced. The Prophet wasn't going to be writing any good articles about him any time soon. This article in particular seemed to be about his lineage.
"This is why people should worry about what's theirs." Neo thought viciously. "No matter how much you help others, there's always going to be someone who will turn on you."
"Why hasn't anyone stepped in to stop this?" Weiss asked with horror. "This can't be legal." The others agreed with her. Harry felt a hand slip into his own. He looked over to Ruby, who gave him an encouraging smile that he shared.
"To put it bluntly, if you don't have at least two or more generations of magic, they are treated like second-class citizens," Blake explained with a frown. "At worst, similar to a Faunus in a Dust mine. It's even worse for those who have even a drop of creature blood. They're treated like monsters."
"You're saying they're judging Harry because he doesn't have the right blood type?" Yang said with a scoff. "I bet if a "pureblood," said he-who-has-mold-on-his-mold had returned, everyone would be on a man-hunt!"
Right as Yang said her nickname for Voldemort, like a mob of Meerkats, everyone in the pub stopped what they were doing and turned to face Yang. They all seemed to be in shock. The only exception was a woman a table away from them. She was hunched over her drink with what seemed to be laughter.
Tom, the keeper of the Leaky Cauldron, quickly came over and motioned for her to quiet down. "Now miss, it's not a good idea to be saying stuff like that. It's a bad omen."
But Yang was ever so defiant. "Why should I be scared of someone who has been "dead" for years now? Especially one that got his butt kicked by a baby? He can't be that tough." Yang snickered at the last part.
"He might still be around, Blondie." Neo cautioned. "After all, the Ministry hasn't done the one thing that would sink Potter's claim for good."
"And what is that?" A brave customer asked.
Neo turned to face the crowd. "Where is the corpse?" Tom's customers looked confused as she continued. "There's this saying where I live: never count anyone dead unless you see the body. So far, they haven't shown us one yet." That got the patrons thinking. Small discussions erupted around the inn and the attention was finally off Harry and his friends.
"I thought it was supposed to be the head?" Blake questioned.
"That was the original saying. But for all, we know this Dark Lord could be a part roach."
"That's cruel Neo," Ruby was amused. "to use roaches as a comparison for someone like him." Ruby's smile was almost sly. "That's an insult to roaches."
"What would someone who is part roach even look like?" Yang whispered to Blake, who shrugged. Harry suddenly imagined Voldemort with a pair of antennae before bursting into loud laughter. The entire table laughed with him.
The women from the other table had heard enough and walked over to their table. Neo noticed the woman and immediately tensed. "Is there something you need?"
"Be nice, Neo." Ruby softly chided her acquaintance before turning to the stranger. "Sorry about her miss. Neo here gets cranky without her food." Neo glared at Ruby. As she tightens her grip on Hush, who unlike the rest of the group kept hers.
The woman seemed unfazed. "It's fine. We don't get many new people around here and I happen to like to make friends. My name is Tonks."
"Tonks?" Everyone thought.
"Is that your first name or last name?" Jaune asked.
Tonks winced. "Last. Don't ask me what my first name is. I'll never tell you."
The group watched with surprise as Tonk's hair went from pink to red to pink again without so much as a spell. "Wow," Blake said. "What type of magic is that?"
"I'm a Metamorphmagus. It means I can change my appearance at will." Tonks's body began to shift. She ended up with a form similar to Yang's body type with Weiss's hair length and Ruby's hair.
"Fascinating," Blake said as she studied Tonks. The others looked at the woman with curiosity and amusement. Only Neo glared at her before Tonks shook her look off, much to the disappointment of the others.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Tonks. The name is Jaune Arc." The others began to introduce themselves, before finally getting to Harry. Before Harry could introduce himself, Jaune covered for him. "This is an old friend of ours, Ozzy Pine. He's showing us to the area and recommended this place to us."
Tonks smirked. If that was the game they wanted to play, she would have to play along as well. "It was a pleasure to meet you kids, but I've got a meeting with an old dog." Tonks even winked at Harry. "Padfoot must be looking for me."
"Padfoot!" Harry thought. "She must know Sirius!"
"Why don't you stay, miss?" Harry said much to the shock of others. "You haven't even eaten yet."
"Harry, what are you doing?" Weiss asked quietly. "How can we know we can trust her?"
"She knows Padfoot," Harry explained. "He is pretty much the last family I have left. If she knows him, we can trust her."
Ruby stared at Harry before nodding. "I trust you, Harry. If you trust her, I trust her."
"You know," Tonks interrupted. "I'm going to meet with him now. Maybe you and your friends could come with me, Mr. Potter?"
However, while Harry was convinced, Yang was not as optimistic. "Answer me honestly!" Yang's eyes and hair flashed gold. "How do you know Padfoot?"
Tonks spoke as if she were in a trance. "He's my cousin on my mother's side. I don't know him too well, but what I am certain about him is that cares very deeply for Harry." As soon as she answered Yang's question she snapped out of her trance. "Did one of you charm me?" Tonks demanded. "That's incredibly rude!"
The others looked over at Harry for what to do next. He got up to walk over to Tonks but as soon as Harry got out of his seat, Neo grabbed his arm. A familiar green light flashed.
