Chapter 1: Viciouness
The sky is bright, the birds are chirping, and kids are talking to each other on the bus as they go to P.S. 118. You can hear some of the girls talking about their summer and changes in the boys as some of the boys were talking about their summer and the changes in the girls.
"Damn, Rhonda got some nice boobs." Said Sid checking her out. He then felt a wack to the back of his head. "Ow, what the hell Harold!?"
"Hey don't blame me for trying to save ya from being seen by Sheena." Said Harold pointing to Sheena who was looking at Sid wondering what he was looking at.
"Oh shit, thanks for the save man!" He said rubbing his head still. "If she saw me looking at Rhonda I'd be dead."
"Then why look at Rhonda?" Asked Stinky with an eyebrow raised. "You'd be more dead than a chicken running without its head."
"Hey, I'm not the only one going through hormones man." Said Sid defending himself.
"Speaking of growing up, look at Brainy." Said Iggy.
Brainy had definitely changed over the summer. He no longer wore glasses, he was taller and didn't hunch over anymore, and his hair was now combed backward instead of pointy.
"Yeah, the puberty did hit him hard, but, he still keeps to himself and wheezes." Said Stinky.
"I don't think he can help that." Said Park peering from behind them sitting with Stinky.
"Guys, we shouldn't be talking about our friends from behind their backs." Said Arnold from the front seat.
"Says the guy with a girlfriend." Said Gerald.
"You have one too." Pointed out Arnold.
"Yeah, but, Phoebe is speaking with me." He said getting a glare from Arnold. "Sorry, sorry, low blow."
"Yikes, you two are fighting again?" Asked Rhonda.
"It's not a fight it's a misunderstanding." Answered Arnold.
"And yet she is not on the bus?" She questioned Arnold. "Whatever this misunderstanding is, you screwed up, big time."
"Rhonda, I think you drop the topic." Said Phoebe defending Arnold. "What happened between Helga and Arnold is their business."
"I have to agree with Phoebe, Rhonda, this is real none of our business." Said Nadine holding Rhonda's hand.
"I'm just saying... OH COME ON EUGENE, PICK UP!" Shouted Curly interrupting Rhonda and gaining everyone's attention.
"It's okay Curly, Eugene must have a reason to not respond to his messages." Said Sheena patting his back.
"But, never this long!" He exclaimed to Sheena waving his cell phone around. "He usually says, "I'm okay or I'm Fine," he's never taken eight hours to respond!"
"Ugh, I never could understand what a guy could see in a guy." Said Joey as he made vomiting gestures.
"That's not nice, Joey." Said Arnold. "What does it matter if a guy likes a guy or a girl likes a girl? If they have feelings for each other they shouldn't feel ashamed about them."
Before Joey could respond to Arnold the bus stopped in front of the school, but, there was a police car in front of the school.
"Gee wilkers, fellas, what could the police be doing here?" Asked Stinky in shock.
"I hope no one is hurt." Said Lila with her hands over her mouth.
"Alright, everyone I know this is a surprising sight, but, you still have to get off the bus." Said the bus driver pointing to the door as the kids mumbled.
Inside Principal Wartz office...
"Missing!" Exclaimed Mr. Simmons.
"Yes, his parents reported him missing fourteen hours ago and we were hoping you or the staff may have noticed anything wrong with Eugene." Said a woman dressed in black.
"Look Detective Toress, we here had P.S. 118 pay great attention to our students and make sure everything is alright with them at home if we see suspicious behavior." Said Wartz with a confident smile.
"Oh really?" Asked Toress as she opened a briefcase with files in them. She then opened one and it had a familiar face. "Then explain to me how you didn't see the suicide of Oliver Mitchell?" She asked with a straight face. (Oliver Mitchell is Chocolate Boy. Couldn't find a name so made one up.)
"That was indeed an unfortunate day, but, he never confided with any of his friends or fellow teachers about any issues going on in his life nor showed any signs that would cause an adult to worry." Replied Wartz with the same deminer, but, without the smile.
"Yes, I suppose it would be difficult if they chose to hide it with a false smile." Said Toress closing the file. "But, how do you explain to the parents that could ask you about their child but never come forward?"
"What are you on about it?" He asked leaning in with a scowl.
"Yes, it sounds like you're accusing us of a serious matter." Said Mr. Simmons.
Toress then pulled out two files and placed them on the desk. "Tell me, are you aware of the murders that have been happening as of late?" She asked the two.
"Yes, it's quite tragic to hear about the people that lost their lives." Answered Mr. Simmons.
"To be fair, one was a hobo and I'm not saying that any human life isn't worth anything, but, he would be an easy target, especially if he was drunk." Said Wartz correcting himself before an issue arose.
"Yes, I could see how you would think that of, 'sigh,' Grubby, but, what about the nanny, Inge, or former councilman Gladhand?" Asked Toress as she opened the two files. "This includes the two most recent murders, a Robert Peterson or Lorenzo Rouco?" As she said that both men stared with wide eyes in shock.
"Their dead!" Said Mr. Simmons in shock.
"Now hold on a damn minute!" Shouted Wartz as he stood from his seat. "Are you suggesting we are involved in those killings!?"
"Well, the Petersons didn't inform you for a reason." She said with a blank stare. "As for the Rouco's, you couldn't have known because Lorenzo's mother was also killed at the scene."
"Dear god." Said Mr. Simmons sitting down. "Do you suspect the same thing happened with Eugene?"
"I'll be honest with you both here." Said Toress getting up from her chair and going to the window as she watched the children get off the bus. "All of these killings involve your students." She then turned back to the gentlemen. "At one point or another, your students interacted with each of the victims at some point in their lives." She then pulled a book out of her pocket and placed it on the table. "At least, that's what it says in this book written by Arnold Shortman."
Mr. Simmons then stood straight and looked Torres in the eyes. "Now wait a minute here. You not suggesting that Arnold had something to do with this are you?" He asked her showing anger.
"Not directly, of course." Answered Toress grabbing the book. "I believed the victims are being chosen at random from the stories told in this book, but, when the Rouco's murders happened it changed my view on the case."
"You think one of our students is killing these people!?" Questioned Wartz.
"How else could the killer have gotten in?" Said Toress pointing out the facts.
"Mrs. Toress, these children are twelve years old turning thirteen! I highly doubt any of them are murders!" Explained Mr. Simmons defending his students.
"The facts don't lie, Mr. Simmons." She said as she headed for the door. "And don't mention this to the children, if that weren't obvious." She then left the two men alone to ponder on everything she told them.
Mr. Simmons then noticed she left the case files on Wartz's desk, grabbed them, and ran to her to give them to her, but, she was already gone.
Meanwhile in Mr. Simmons's classroom...
The students were seen fooling around throwing paper airplanes and trying to make baskets with crunched-up paper balls. Arnold on the other hand sat at his desk looking at where Helga would sit if she were there.
"She should have been here by now." Said Arnold getting concerned.
"So call her man, you have a phone." Said Gerald throwing a paper ball into the basket. "Yes, that's three to one Harold."
"Oh, come on!" Shouted Harold as he put his hands to his head. "You're only good at this because your... I wouldn't go there, Pinky." Shouted Harold as Helga's voice popped up from the door.
"Ah good to see you, Helga, we thought you weren't coming in." Said Phoebe.
"Nah, Big Bob just gave me a hard time for missing the bus and drove me here." Said Helga as she went to her seat. "Would have gotten here sooner if it weren't for the shortcut he took getting us stuck in traffic."
"Hey Hel... shut it Football Head." Said Arnold as Helga interrupted him.
"Oh yeah, he fucked up big time." Said Rhonda filing her nails.
The door then opened again making everyone sit at their seats thinking Mr. Simmons was walking in, however, it was a boy their age. He wore a light green shirt that had Dinoland on it, a pair of blue jeans, and brown shoes. His brown eyes looked at the classroom staring at him as he scratched his black hair.
"Uh, I'm sorry is this Mr. Simmons's class?" The boy asked.
"Yeah, what about it?" Asked Helga glaring at the boy.
"Well, it's just I'm the new student in the class and I wanted to make sure this was the right room?" Questioned the boy. Before anyone could say anything, Mr. Simmons walked into the room and noticed the boy.
"Oh my goodness, that's right the new student!" He exclaimed as he sat his bag at the side of his desk. "Class, this is Ryan Hunt, he and his family just moved here from Florida and I hope you'll treat him with respect and be great friends." Mr. Simmons then looked around the room for an open seat. "Let's see... how about you sit at Eugene's desk for now seeing how there are no other desks available."
"But, Mr. Simmons, what happens if Eugene comes in?" Asked Curly hiding a bit of irritation.
"Well Curly, Eugene won't be able to make it to class today because of him being ill, so for today, Ryan can sit there until we get another desk." He said with a smile as he lied.
While the class bought this, Arnold didn't. For some reason, he didn't buy that Eugene was sick. Something about Mr. Simmons's smile just threw him off.
After a couple of hours of class, lunch, and recess, the students went to their seats. Mr. Simmons then turned off the lights and turned on a projector. "Okay class, today's history lesson is on the biology of birds from the country of Africa." The class groaned as he started the film.
"This is going to be a snooze fest." Whispered Sid.
"I don't know, I find animals quite interesting." Said Ryan with a smile. "You'll never know the amazing things animals can do if we don't learn."
"Oh great, now will be twice as bored." Said Helga getting some chuckles as Ryan pays no mind to it.
As the film begins the screen doesn't show birds, but a creepy red smile.
"Okay, which one of you sabotaged the film?" Asked Mr. Simmons as none of the students answer. "Come on kids ruining school property is very serious and... IS THAT EUGENE!?" Was all he could say as Sid shouted and pointed to the screen. Mr. Simmons then turned around to see a black-and-white film of Eugene walking down the sidewalk with the word jinx in bright red letters. "Curly did you do this?" He asked him as he noticed the shock on Curly's face. "Whoever did this is violating Eugene's privacy and needs to come forward no... AAAAAHHHH!" Screamed Rhonda along with the rest of the class. Mr. Simmons then turned to the screen to see the most disturbing sight. He saw Eugene lying on the ground with stab wounds all over his chest as blood dripped to the ground. As he stared in horror he noticed a book lying in the blood, the same book that Detective Toress showed to him and Principal Wartz. The scene then started to freak out and then go back to Eugene, but now with two red lines across his eyes and a red smile on his mouth followed by the words, "Shouldn't have snitched, jinx."
"Holy crap, Eugene is dead!" Shouted Harold.
"No, no, this is some sick cruel joke pulled by someone who hates Eugene!" Shouted Curly as he then glared at Ryan. "And I bet you have something to do with it!"
"How do I have something to do with it!" Exclaimed Ryan as he stood up from his chair. "I just met all of you for the first time! I don't even know Eugene or what he looked like! So tell me how in the hell do I have something to do with this!"
The class erupted into further chaos as Stinky ran out of the room holding his hand to his mouth most likely to vomit. Rhonda was now biting her nails, Sheena had passed out from the scene, Lila covered her eyes and tried to stay conscious, Sid was sitting on his desk saying this is not happening, Harold was crying, Gearld was covering Phoebe's eyes, Helga was screaming her head off, and Arnold all he could hear was static as if the channel he was watching all of the sudden wasn't working.
The door to the classroom then slammed open as Principal Wartz walked in. "Just what is going on... oh dear god!" He asked as he then saw the horror show going on in front of him. "Simmons turn the damn thing off!"
Mr. Simmons then ran to the projector and flipped the switch off as Wartz turned on the lights. Wartz then turned to the class. "Okay, all of you to the gymnasium!" He shouted pointing to the door.
"But, Principal Wartz!" Shouted Arnold snapping out of his stupor.
"Don't argue with me, young man!" He shouted at Arnold. "Go to the gymnasium or else!"
Arnold and the students went to the gymnasium as the girls helped Sheena to the nurse's office. Wartz then grabbed the phone on Mr. Simmons's desk and dialed 911. "Hello police, we have an emergency here at P.S. 118!" He exclaimed at the other end. He then turned to Simmons who was still standing there. "Dammit Simmons go to your class and handle the issue as best as you can!"
"Yes sir, I'll..." Was all he could say as screaming students were running to the gymnasium. Mr. Simmons and Wartz dashed out of the room to see a sea of children screaming and running about. They then notice a teacher consoling a student.
"Mrs. Pataki what the hell is going on here!" Shouted Wartz navigating through the children.
"The m, movie I had planned to h, have my class watch h, had a dead boy in it s, scaring the students." Said Olga through her tears as her mascara ran.
"It also happened in my class!" Shouted Mr. Packenham showing a black eye.
"It happened in mine as well!" Shouted Miss Slovak consoling a first grader. "I didn't come back to P.S. 118 to see traumatized students, Wartz! So tell me, what the hell is going on!"
"...I, I honestly don't know." Said Wartz as stood in shock and fear.
Meanwhile with Stinky...
Stinky was not in the school bathrooms, at least not anymore. He was now running home to his parents in fear. 'Oh god, oh god! What Eugene told me yesterday was true!' He thought to himself sweating like a hog. 'I thought he was being paranoid because of that movie date with Curly after sneaking into that R-rated horror flic!' He then turned a corner and almost slipped, but, caught his footing. 'I'm almost there! I can tell my folks the truth and they'll call the police and everything will be fine, just fine!' He then made it to his house, stood still to catch his breath, and walk to into his home... he was greeted with a rather unpleasant sight. Starring in front of him was a scarecrow made to look like Eugene with the same creepy red-marked eyes and mouth. The shirt of the scarecrow had holes in the front with some sort of red goo dripping out of it. Stinky then got to closer to the scarecrow and touched the red goo and rubbed it between his fingers... it was blood. Stinky then opened the shirt to see that the pumpkin was attached to a dead pig.
"Oh, oh thank god, it's not my parents... MY PARENTS!" He shouted as he barged into the house.
Stinky then looked around to see if his parents were there and so far everything showed that they weren't until he remembered the backyard. As he got into the backyard he feel to his knees. Sitting in two rocking chairs were the decapitated bodies of his parents. Tears began to pour down his face as his hands hit the ground. He then noticed a white powder on the ground that lead to his parent's bodies and as he tilted his head up he saw a sign stapled into both of his parent's arms saying, "Drugies."
"It wasn't their fault." Said Stinky through his tears. "If I hadn't bumped into those men down at the pier me and Pa were fishing at, they'd still have their drugs and my parents wouldn't have to make up for it by growing cannabis." Stinky then stood up, wiped his face, and walked around his house. "Wait, if go back to school I could tell them everything and my parent's deaths won't be in vain!" He then ran and as he got around the corner he was met with an ax to the face. Stinky's body then tumbled to the ground as his killer then walked away whistling a creepy tune.
