Days pass where Hailey works, attempting to not look like she feels – dead on her feet but she pulls it off.

But going home is the worst time for her, going home to an empty apartment, by herself and only silence. Well, not all silence as the sobs fills those moments. She drinks wine and lies down but just end up staring at the ceiling and nothing else happens.

Sitting on the couch not paying any attention to the tv, Hailey thinks about that night she was over at Voight's. Ever since that night, she has been craving that feeling. The feeling of safety, warmth, not being alone.

She had considered going back but she does not want to dump her problems on Voight. He may have told her that she is welcome but what if he was just being nice to her and did not want to tell her to her face not to do that again?

Sobs starts filling the air as she does not know what to do. She feels trapped with no way out.

Hailey then decides it is not like her situation can get any worse than what it already is, she is alone, she may as well go over to Voight's.

But then on the other hand, it is only during the day when she is with the team and specifically teamed up with Voight that she is feeling not so alone, and she really does not want to mess that up.

She has to admit it, she has been enjoying being teamed up with Voight even though last year she absolutely despised him. But things have changed now, and she does not want to lose it by showing up at his doorstep again and bothering him.

The night comes and goes, and the sun rises on Hailey still sitting on the couch.

She drags herself up and heads for a shower.

The day goes as any other day, they have another case, and she does her best not to fall over or make the others worry. She puts on a brave face and try to keep her emotions and attitude in check, especially with Voight.

At the end of the day, they are all in Voight's office as they wrap up the case that they solved. When everything is said and done, they leave his office.

"Hailey."

Voight stops her just before she exits his office.

"Yes Sarge." Hailey turns to Voight.

"My offer still stands." Voight's tone and look is serious, he is not being soft he is being serious about it.

After a few moments of thinking on it, Hailey nods and then joins the team as they start packing up.

Voight knows that Hailey likes doing things her way and that she is capable of looking after herself, but she has reached a point where she needs help from someone else, Hailey is just in denial about it.

He decided not to push the subject with Hailey as she didn't come over to his house again, but he has been keeping a closer eye on Hailey over the past few days and it is quite clear to him that she is struggling. So, he makes it out right clear to Hailey that he is there for her, she just needs to accept it.

That night after sitting in her apartment, on the barstool with a glass of untouched wine in front of her, Hailey eventually decides to just go over to Voight, he did after all reiterate that she is welcome. At least this time around she has not been crying uncontrollably, she is just too exhausted.

After knocking on Voight's door, it opens a few moments later.

Without sharing any words, Voight steps aside for Hailey to enter.

Hailey then goes straight to where she was sitting the other night.

Passing through the living room, Voight makes his way to the kitchen where the kettle starts boiling.

Hailey just stares at the tv screen at something that is muted.

Not too long, Voight returns with a cup of coffee that he hands to Hailey.

"Thanks." She speaks softly.

Voight then sits down and unmutes the tv.

He thinks back to when they were still investigating Sean. Hailey was getting far too fired up and out of hand during one team meeting. He took her outside and told her to deal with what is going on in her life and then sent her home. Clearly, she has not been dealing with it that well. Not as well as she makes everyone think she has, not if she is sleeping on his couch.

After Hailey's cup has been empty and cold for a long time Hailey feels that she must say something.

"Sarge, I…."

Before Hailey can get another word out, Voight speaks.

"Get some sleep Hailey." Voight's words are short and to the point, like a command but Hailey is sure that she heard a tinge of care in it.

He knows that Hailey does not want to talk so he will spare her trying to make small talk to try and fill the silence.

Hailey sits still for some time and then she puts her empty coffee cup on the side table and then she toes off her shoes. She then pulls her legs up and tug her feet in to get more comfortable while sitting sideways, leaning back against the couch like she woke up the other morning.

When she is in her own bed or on her couch, she has thoughts about Jay, about how miserable she is but right here, right now, none of those things are going through her mind. None of the emotions that she battles with at home is present when she is here with Voight.

At some point Voight looks over and finds her asleep and continues watching tv.

This is just about all his nights off looks like. Not like he has anything else to do other than go to the bar drink a glass, come home and watch tv. If he is not busy covering something up in this free time, this is it for him. No Erin, no Justin, no Olive, no grandson. No one. Just himself. But that's fine, because it's Voight and he is always fine no matter what.

Ever since Jay has left, Voight knows what it has done and is doing to Hailey. The team sees it too, but everyone pretends that everything is alright, right along with her.

But Voight knows, he watches Hailey.

Voight then shifted the team around and kept Hailey to team up with him. That way he can keep a closer eye on her. He can make sure that she eats when he eats or at least try to get her to. He can also keep her in line when she gets too fired up.

Honestly, it did give Voight a warm feeling when Hailey came to him the first night. And since Hailey felt safe enough to fall asleep on his couch with him there, it means that she trusts him. Voight now feels even more protective over her, more responsible for her.

He must be honest also, that having Hailey around is not something that he has a problem with, actually the opposite. It's nice to have someone else besides himself alone in this house.

When Hailey wakes in the morning, she finds herself again warm and comfortable. She stays still and then goes back to sleep while she still can.

A while later, Hailey wakes up again and wonders how much extra time she got to sleep. She tries to remember if she is sleeping in her bed or her couch because she is going to come back to this spot tonight to get more sleep.

But then Hailey remembers where she is and with that, she opens her eyes and confirms that she is most definitely still in Voight's house, on his couch with a duvet over her.

Only difference is that she is lying down. She remembers getting comfortable sitting up, she does not remember waking up at any point and lying down.

Did Voight lay her down?

Hailey then gets up and folds the duvet and places it on the couch. She then sits down and pulls her shoes on when she hears footsteps coming down the stairs.

"Morning." Voight greets her as he walks through the living room to the kitchen.

"Morning." Hailey answers back feeling a bit awkward that she has made herself comfortable on her boss' couch, again.

"I should get to the office." Hailey pulls out the first excuse she can so that she does not intrude any longer.

"It's a Saturday and we do not have an open case." Voight stops her.

"I should get back to my apartment." Hailey goes for the next excuse she can think up.

"At least stay for breakfast." Voight appears in the kitchen door just as she gets up.

"I'm ok." She answers back fully intent on leaving, she does not want to disrupt his weekend.

"Hailey, I invited you and besides when was the last time you ate properly?" Voight asks her already knowing the answer.

Hailey does not say anything as she thinks about it, and the last meal she can remember was a candy bar from the vending machine.

Voight's got her on that one.

Conceding, she gives a nod in agreement.

Eating breakfast, Hailey thought in the beginning that she would have to force the food down even though she is not hungry, just so that she does not offend Voight. But she finds herself hungry and actually eating and enjoying the food.

After eating breakfast, Voight walks Hailey to the door.

"Thanks Sarge." Hailey thanks him before she steps out the door.

"You're always welcome, ok." Voight again tells her that she can come back if she needs to.

She gives a nod as she turns and heads for her car.
