Days after that, Hailey goes home and mopes around her apartment.

She is starting to feel a bit better with the few frequent visits she has done to Voight's house and sleeping on his couch, but the apartment still holds too many memories of Jay.

Especially her and Jay.

When she is over at Voight's house she feels better. Well one, she is not alone and two there is absolutely nothing that reminds her of Jay.

The last two times she was over at Voight's house, he invited her. So, that is what she guesses she is waiting for, for Voight to invite her over again.

Or maybe she is just being stubborn. She has always taken care of herself, ever since she was just a young kid.

She can't exactly be spending her nights sleeping on her boss' couch. She would hate to explain it if the team ever found out.

And so it goes, she goes for days, and she sleeps less, eats less, she has become a zombie at work again.

Voight notice this.

He sees the bags under her eyes, the exhaustion and he is sure that she is getting even thinner than she already is. And yet Hailey is not coming to him, so he decides to make it a done deal because she is not going to come of her own.

After finishing up a case, Voight and Hailey are on their way back to the office. Voight pulls up at the building and drops Hailey off.

"I need to go see someone. I'll see you later." Voight tells her as she gets out.

Hailey gives a nod as she closes the door.

She watches as Voight drives off and wonders what exactly did he mean by later? Later as in she showing up at his house in the late hours of the night or later, as in tomorrow?

After turning Voight's words over in her head, going up to get her stuff, driving home and then moping around her apartment, Hailey decides to go over to Voight's house.

Getting close to Voight's house, Hailey absent-mindedly checks the time and realize that it is almost midnight. She didn't realize how late it was, what if Voight is already asleep?

She decides to take a drive past his house anyway and when she finds the lights are on, she pulls up in front of his house.

Before Hailey can knock on the door, it opens with Voight waiting for her to enter.

"You're late."

"Sorry, I…." Hailey immediately apologizes as she stops, for a moment she hesitates whether she is still welcome or not.

"Come in Hailey." Voight's tone lets her know that he is not reprimanding her, just noting something.

After a short pause, Hailey steps through the door.

By Hailey's hesitation at his statement, Voight realizes just how fragile she really is. He better be more careful what he says to her, she seems to take it too seriously.

Voight makes his way into the kitchen as Hailey takes a seat next to the folded duvet with the pillow on top. She is sure that it has not been moved from where she left it the last time.

The microwave can be heard along with the kettle. A while later Voight appears and hands Hailey a take-away box with a fork and places a cup down on the coffee table.

"Thanks, Sarge." Hailey feels slightly awkward again, her boss giving her food and coffee, taking care of her in the middle of the night.

"You're welcome." Voight takes a seat and unmutes the tv as he takes a sip from his coffee.

By now Voight would probably have gone to bed, but he decided to wait up in case Hailey does show and she did. So, he decides to stay up a while longer, just sitting with Hailey.

After she finished the food and her coffee, Hailey gets up and goes to throw the take-away box in the trash and place her cup in the sink. She can at least clean up after herself.

She then takes a seat on the couch.

After watching the tv program for quite a while, Hailey sits back, turns sideways, resting her elbow on the backrest of the couch and resting her head in her hand.

She has gotten a lot more comfortable at Voight's house.

The next moment, Hailey jerks awake as her hand slipped.

"Lie down Hailey." Voight speaks from where he is still seated. The movement caught his eye.

Hailey takes the pillow and places it down and then she removes her shoes. Lying down, Hailey pushes her feet under the duvet that is left folded. She folds her arms to keep warm.

Hailey closes her eyes but still listens to the tv.

A while later she hears Voight getting up, going to the kitchen and then he returns where the tv is switched off.

She listens to how Voight walks past her and then she feels the folded duvet lifted off her feet and then it is placed over her.

When Voight switches off the lights and heads for the stairs, Hailey figures that he probably knows that she is still awake.

"Sarge." Hailey stops him just as he is about to go up the stairs.

"Yeah." Voight stops.

"Thanks." Hailey says as the pulls the duvet closer under her chin.

"Goodnight Hailey." With that Voight ascends the stairs.

Hailey wakes up to the smell of food.

Rubbing out her eyes, she sits up with a yawn. Yet another peaceful night that she got to sleep all the way through and woke up happy and rested.

Again, she folds the duvet, places the pillow on top and pulls on her shoes before she makes her way into the kitchen.

After having breakfast with Voight, they exit his house on their way to their cars. As they get to the cars and are just about to part ways, Voight stops Hailey by taking her by the arm and turning her towards him.

"Hailey, come to me, ok." Voight makes a specific point to tell Hailey.

"Yes Sarge, thanks." Hailey nods and then they both leave.

Voight watches Hailey drives off. He ponders whether he should clear out Erin's stuff out of her room and let Hailey use it.

One, it will be good for Hailey and it will be good for Voight also to have someone around to care for.

After Voight's wife passed away and Justin was in jail, Voight had no one, but he had Erin. He took care of her like he has done since she was 15 years old. She is like a daughter to him and so he was not alone.

But then Erin ended up in that situation where she had to take the job in New York and Voight told her to never look back, and that is exactly what she did.

She barely even contacts him now. The last time he heard from her was his birthday and that was a quick chat on the phone.

So, maybe it's a good thing that Hailey is hanging around.
