Days pass and Hailey again has been hanging around her apartment. She has been trying to sleep on her own couch, like she does at Voight's, but it made no difference. She still lies awake all night long.

She eventually came to the conclusion that it is not the couch, but rather the company.

If she was not so self-conscious, she would be sleeping on Voight's couch every night but of course, she is too proud to do so.

So, she stays at her apartment drowning in her misery.

The one morning when Hailey gets to work, she does not feel too well. Well, she has not been feeling well since the day before, but she just ignores it because she has been feeling bad for a long time. Not eating or sleeping right will do that to you.

Hailey struggles her way through the day, and she is sure that Voight would have noticed if he was there.

He had a court case and so he was out of the office all day.

By the time late afternoon had rolled around almost time to go home, Hailey was starting to feel a floating feeling and that lasted until she got up a bit too fast out of her chair and her world went into a spin and then nothing.

"Hailey!" Burgess is the first on her feet and next to Hailey as she just dropped to the floor.

"She passed out." Adam appears next to Kim and accesses the situation.

"What happened?" With that Kevin and Torres shows up and walks in on an unconscious Hailey with blood on her forehead and the floor.

"She passed out and hit her head on the way down." Burgess explains as Adam pulls out his phone to call an ambulance.

It is probably not that serious, but they are not taking any chances.

After the EMTs showed up, they decided to take her to the hospital to run some tests just in case with the entire team following.

"Atwater, this better be important." Voight's tone is slightly hushed as he answers his phone, clearly, he is still in the court room.

"Hailey is on her way to the hospital." Kevin gets straight to the point.

"What happened?" The concern is clear in Voight's tone.

"She passed out in the bullpen."

"I'm coming."

When Hailey wakes up her vision is swimming, and she blinks to clear it. There is someone standing next to her, but she cannot tell who until her vision mostly clears and she find that it is Kim.

"You're awake." Kim smiles happily.

"We're all here too." Kevin's voice then draws her attention to her other side and finds the rest of the team with Adam coming up behind Kim.

Hailey squeezes her eyes and then she lifts her hand and holds her head. She has a splitting headache and that is when she feels the plaster on her forehead.

"What happened?" The asks in a weak voice.

"You passed out and hit your head on the way down." Kim answers.

Hailey frowns, she does not remember.

About 20 minutes go by waiting for the drip to finish and in that time the team stayed with her the whole time. When the doctor told her that she can go home, they all stepped out so that the nurse can remove the drip.

On his way in, Voight ran into Jay's brother and he then directs him to the doctor that tended to Hailey.

"What is wrong with her?" Voight does not even bother to greet her properly.

"Dehydrated, malnourished, exhaustion." The doctor responds on the same note. "She's been discharged but someone needs to take care of her because she clearly is not."

"Where is she?"

"Down the hall."

"Thanks doc."

After the nurse removes the drip from Hailey's arm, she sits up slowly as her head gives a bit of a spin.

Hailey then slowly slips off the bed and then pulls her jacket on. She is just glad that they did not unclothe her and put her in a hospital gown for the scratch on her head.

Slowly what happened during the day comes back to her. She remembers feeling dizzy since the day before, but she always just pushed through. She did not expect to pass out, and that in front of the whole team.

She will now be bombarded with a hundred questions and pity.

"Where's Hailey?" The team all turn around at hearing Voight's voice.

"She's getting ready to go, the doc said she's fine and good to go home." Adam answers.

Voight knows the truth, clearly the doctor had discretion talking to her colleagues.

The door then opens and Hailey steps out, kind of looking like a zombie on her feet and her hair all tussled.

"I'll drop you off on my way home." Kevin offers.

"I'll take her." Voight's tone is that of finality, no arguments.

Everyone then says goodbye and they all leave.

Walking out of the hospital, Voight is walking slightly ahead of Hailey leading her to his car.

So far not one word has been spoken between the two and Hailey almost feels like she is in trouble.

Voight opens the door to his car for Hailey to get in.

"You really don't need to." Hailey protests until Voight pins her with a glare that dares her to argue with him.

Voight then gets into the driver's side and then pulls out of the hospital parking lot.

Voight still has not spoken one word to Hailey.

There is silence until Voight speaks.

"I told you to come to me." Despite that Hailey is not well, Voight lets her know that he is unhappy. His tone has an edge of anger to it.

There's a moment of silence before Hailey speaks, she can just tell that she is in trouble.

"I didn't want to overstay my welcome." She answers in a soft tone hoping to not spark a verbal lashing from Voight.

"If you overstayed your welcome then you would have known." Voight immediately shoots down her excuse.

Hailey feels like she should apologize but decides to keep quiet and so it stays until Voight pulls up in front of her apartment.

Before the car even comes to a stop, Voight instructs her.

"Go pack a bag, you're staying with me."

"Sarge, you really don't….." Hailey is about to argue when she is cut off.

"Now Hailey." Voight's tone is direct, he is giving an order, one that will be obeyed right now.

Hailey sits still for a moment and then decides that it is an argument she is going to lose and so she gets out of the car and disappears into her apartment. About 10 minutes later she gets back into the car with a bag.

All the way to Voight's place, nothing is said.

Hailey feels that it does not matter what she says at this point, Voight is going to turn it into an argument.

When they step though Voight's front door, he does not let a moment pass.

"Come."

Voight then leads her upstairs to a closed door that he opens.

"It was Erin's, you can use it." Voight's tone has changed completely, and it is warm and caring. He needed the silence in the car to calm down his anger.

He was angry, because what if this happened during a critical moment of taking down a suspect? She could have been injured, she could have died.

"How are you feeling?" Voight asks as she steps into the room, while he holds the door open.

"I'm fine." Hailey answers absentmindedly like she always answers that question.

"Hailey." Voight let's her know that he doesn't want that answer.

"I'm fine Sarge, just a headache, maybe a little dizzy." Hailey turns and looks to Voight as she gives a bit of a more honest answer.

"Put your stuff down and come eat dinner." Voight then turns and disappears downstairs.

Hailey takes a deep breath as she places her bag down on the bed while looking around the room.

After eating, Voight hands Hailey a bottle of painkillers for her headache and then starts cleaning up.

Hailey takes the pills and then gets up.

"Go to bed Hailey." Voight tells her as she picks up a dish cloth to help clean.

Hailey is about to argue when she decides that she really does not feel well.

"Yes Sarge." Hailey places the dish cloth down. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight Hailey."

When Hailey wakes in the morning, she stays lying down looking through the room that is not hers. It feels very strange waking up in someone else's bed. It was one thing waking up on Voight's couch, but it feels more personal waking up in a family member's room.

Well, Voight and Erin may not be related, but from what she can understand, Voight took care of her most of her life.

Without wasting any more time, she gets up, gets her stuff and heads to the bathroom downstairs to go and clean up.

When she is finished, she makes sure to clean up after herself and leave everything just the way she found it, like she was never even there.

Before leaving the bathroom, Hailey stands in front of the mirror and pulls off the plaster from her forehead.

She then studies the cut and the bruising. She recalls the day before. She remembers the feeling of falling and then the next moment she had Kim and the rest of the team standing over her when she woke up.

On her way back up to the room she is using to put her stuff back, she hears movement in the kitchen.

When she returns downstairs, she finds Voight coming in from outside with the paper.

"Morning." Hailey greets as she reaches the bottom of the stairs.

"How you feeling?" Voight asks as he drops the paper on the dining room table.

"Better than yesterday."

"You can take the day off." Voight tells her as he makes his way to the kitchen.

"Really Sarge I'm fine, I cannot be sitting still now." Hailey hopes that Voight gets the message, the last thing she wants to do is sit around with nothing to do. That is usually when she starts thinking about Jay and so she tries not to do that.

"You sure?" Voight asks as Hailey enters the kitchen behind him.

"Yeah."

"Ok, but you're staying on desk duty."

Hailey is just about to roll her eyes when she decides not to. Maybe now is not the time to have attitude about something she doesn't like.

After breakfast, they then leave in Voight's car as her car is still at the office from the day before.
