Aiden begins to stir from his slumber. He begins to turn over onto his side, still mostly asleep. Until he begins to get flashes of the tower and battle of Ostogar. His eyes then slam wide open, noticing that he was in wooden hut. The large human then begins to rise up off the makeshift sleeping mat he found himself on. Revealing he was only wearing only his under clothes.

Then Aiden hears a familiar voice say. "Sorry if the sleeping arrangements are not to your standards." Said the now revealed Morrigan, speaking in her regular monotone.

Aiden, who shows no signs of uncomfortableness from his state of undress, stands to fully face the young witch.

"I take it you saved me." Aiden said.

"It was my mother who saved you and your companions. I just tended to your wounds." Morrigan said dismissively.

"Still, thank you. I would likely be dead without your assist- …Wait did you say my companions?" Aiden asked.

"You're welcome and yes, I did. They had already awoken some time ago and are waiting on you. The first one to awake was the female dwarf. She has been pestering my mother and me relentlessly. I swear, if it wasn't for mother, I would have dropped her in the middle of the swamp and be done with her." Morrigan finished with a slightly ticked off tone of voice. "They are currently outside waiting for you."

"Yeah, that sounds like Natia. But where is my equipment?" Aiden asked after looking around.

"Over there." Morrigan said while pointing at a mostly cleared corner of the hut. "Though, I don't mind the show."

Giving a small chuckle. "You may not, but the others will. Besides I don't think I want to be caught like this by your mother." Earning a light laugh from Morrigan. Aiden then goes over to his equipment and gears up while Morrigan tends to something at the fireplace.

Aiden then walks outside. The sound of the door closing catches the attention of Brutus, who runs to meet his master excitedly. Which in turn catches the attention of Flemeth and Aiden's dwarfish and elvish companions.

"Ah, I see you are awake." Flemeth said.

"About bloody damn time. I have been waiting for all of you to wake up for five fucking days." Natia exclaimed.

"It is good to see you, my friend." Thorin greeted.

"Yeah, what he said." Ana said, pointing towards Thorin.

Theron merely smiles and nods his head towards Aiden as his form of greeting.

"Your other companion is over there. He has been thinking over the battle since he awoke two days ago." Flemeth stated while pointing to the edge of the water were Alistair stood.

Aiden then walks towards him with only Brutus at his side. The others waiting patiently near the hut.

When Aiden got close Alistair turned around. "Thank the Maker you are alright."

"As alright as I can be after being turned into a human representation of a pincushion." Aiden said, earning a small halfhearted laugh from Alistair.

But it didn't last. He soon returned to his brooding look. "The battle was a loss. Morrigan showed us the battlefield yesterday. Most of the king's army was destroyed. Duncan and all the other Wardens are dead. I honestly don't know what to do at this point." Said a despairing Alistair.

Aiden, who's face shifted into firm resolve, places a hand on his companion's shoulder. "I tell you what we are going to do. We are going to regroup, come up with a plan, and end the Blight. And while we're at it we'll get justice for all those who died at Ostagar." Aiden stated.

"Oh, and how do you plan on doing that." Said Flemeth, with the other Wardens behind her. "Such an undertaking would surely require an army."

After a moment, Alistair's eyes widen. "The treaties! Duncan told me to hold on to them until after the battle. They ensure that when a Blight occurs affiliated parties must assist the Wardens." Said Alistair.

"Who do they pertain to, exactly." Theron asked.

"Uh, give me second to remember. I looked over them while you guys were recovering from the joining. Hmm, oh! Now I remember. There is one for the circle of magi, the dwarves, and the Dalish." Alistair said.

"Which clans? I don't think that all of my people would all swear to any group lead by humans. Even for a group such as the Grey Wardens." Theron said.

"I don't know. We will have to check." Alistair replied.

"We can do that later. Rite now we need to figure out our first course of action." Aiden said before turning to face Flemeth. "There is just one thing I want to know before we do. Why help us? The tales of the Witch of the Wilds always say she only helps others for her own means."

"Haha. Why indeed." Flemeth said, highly amused by the question and caution before getting serious. "The answer is simple. You and your companions are needed to stop the Blight. That can only be accomplished by a Grey Warden. I may be able to put the Arch Demon down a hundred times, but without one of you the cycle would just continue."

As the group of Wardens contemplate on this Morrigan comes out of the hut and walks towards the group. "Dinner is almost done, Mother. Should I set things up for a group or will it just be the two of us?" Morrigan said.

"Hm, less than that, actually." Flemeth replied before facing Aiden once more. "I want you to take my daughter with you. She may be a bit rough around the edges, but she is skilled, and you need all the help you can get."

"What?! Don't I get a say in any of this?" Morrigan exclaimed.

"Oh, don't be shocked, dear daughter." The tone obviously being condescending and chastising. "You have been pawing at the chance to get out of here for quite some time. Now's your chance." Flemeth said.

"I … yes mother." Morrigan said, looking like she was about to protest some more before accepting the decision.

Meanwhile, the Wardens huddle around Aiden to give their own opinions on the matter. "This is a bad idea. We can't trust her." Said Alistair in a hushed tone.

"I'm with Alistair on this one. The circle warns us about the dangers of apostates. Especially this apostate." Said Michael while pointing towards Flemeth.

"I say we let her come with. We are in a dire straight, need help, and can't afford not to take it when given. Even if it comes from a questionable source." Thorin stated

"I may hate myself for saying it, but I agree with the spoon fed nug humper here." Natia put in her two cents.

"I may not trust her, but Thorin is rite. We need help, and we need it quick." Ana said.

"I may not know what the shem tales speak of her as, but to my people Asha'bellanar is wise and powerful. Any gift or assistance should neither be taken lightly or refused. I say we accept lady Morrigan as part of our company." Theron said.

After hearing all of this Aiden decided to step forward and make a decision for the entire group. "We would be most grateful for your assistance, Morrigan." Aiden said.

"Good now you must hurry. "The longer you tarry the closer the Darkspawn horde gets." Said Flemeth with a slight tone of urgency.

"Very well, let me just go pack some of my things." Said a reluctant Morrigan before turning towards her mother. "I will return as soon as I can, mother."

"Of course, you will. The matter of if the house will still be standing by the time you return however, may be a different matter." Said Flemeth.

After this Morrigan went inside the hut to pack her personal affects. While the rest of the recently expanded party discussed in just what direction to go first. Fifteen minutes later Morrigan exited the hut and rejoined the group. They then set out for the nearest town to restock and figure out the most immediate course of action.

-Time Skip-

The group of young Wardens and co make their way up the Imperial Highway. Heading in the direction of the nearest town to Ostagar, Lothering. As they get close to the village however, they begin to hear the sound of fighting. Once they get close enough, they see Ferelden soldiers facing off against a group of men dressed in worn and ill maintained armor. What caught their eye though, especially in the case of Aiden, was the sight of the person leading the soldiers, Annette Cousland.

When Aiden caught sight of his sister, he began to run towards her at full speed. This led to him practically charging and squeezing Annette in a bear hug. Which, coincidently, was merely a moment after the last bandit was struck down by her sword. The sudden action catching all of the soldiers by surprise, them raising their weapons only to realize that Aiden was not a threat.

"Oh, thank the Maker that you are alright Ann." Said a teary-eyed Aiden.

"Aiden! I thought you and the others died in the tower." Said Annette after overcoming her shock.

"We almost did, but I will tell you about that later. Exactly what happened at the battlefield?" Asked Aiden as he let his sister down.

"As you know the king placed me in charge of the noncombatants in the camp, along with a small detachment of men to help keep order. With the battle being uncertain I had everyone prepare to flee at a moments notice." Said Annette before drifting off, getting caught up in her own memories. "Everyone was tense, waiting for the signal to be lit in one color or the other. When the blue signal ignited everyone began to rush in the evacuation. I stayed behind and, well…"

-Flash Back-

The entire camp was in chaos. Most of the noncombatants were already on their way away from the ruined fortress and the battle. While soldiers fleeing from the battle were hurriedly following them or just out rite fleeing into the wild. Thinking that being away from a large group may help their chances of survival.

Annette, on the other hand, stayed behind to both organize the evacuation for those left and to converse with a few officers about what happened on the battlefield. However, before that conversation could get anywhere the small group of commanders saw some men rushing into camp with a makeshift stretcher with a surprising occupant. Annette was the first to catch sight of them and rushed over.

"Your majesty! My king, what happened!?" Asked a frantic Annette.

"Ogre, got me pretty good." Said the king in a week voice.

"My king, save your strength. Let us find a healer and get you out of here." Said the most senior of the officers that Annette was talking to and who had followed her to the king's side.

"No time. Cough. I am suffering internally; I need time and patience to heel this successfully. Something none of us have right now. No, get me some paper, a quill, and ink. Cough. HURRY!" Said the king in a strained voice.

Some of the commanders rushed around to get what the king asked for. While the rest organized some of the remaining soldiers to keep watch over the surround area given the threat that was so near. Soon the king had what he requested and began to write multiple letters as quickly as he could. Marking them with his signet ring/royal seal and having the commanders sign the last three letters themselves.

"Hear." Cailan said as he handed the four copies of the same letter to the four commanders. "Take these as proof of Loghain's treachery. As for you Annette …Cough Cough … The first letter is to give you, and anyone else you deem fit, the authority to act with the full weight of the crown in any manner to bring back order to Ferelden. The second letter puts the army, or whats left of it, under your command. The last letter… Cough… legitimizes my only remaining immediate family. Find him, put him on the throne, and save Ferelden. This is the last order I give to you all as your king. COUGH. Now …go." Said Cailan as he breathed his last.

-Flash Back End-

"We had no time to give him proper wrights. The Darkspawn had begun to storm their way into camp, and we were forced to flee." Said a saddened Annette. "We and everyone else followed the evacuees out of there. After a few hours of fleeing, we set up camp north-east of Ostagar to rest and regroup. While we rested Fergus, and his men made their way into camp."

"Fergus! He's alive? Where is he?" Aiden practically yelled.

"Yes, he's alive. Apparently Loghain had been planning something like this from the start. Fergus and his were attacked by Ferelden soldiers on Loghain's orders after they went out on their scouting run." Said Annette, starting with a slight smile that slowly turned into a scowl. "Apparently the soldiers had orders to plant letters to incriminate Fergus, our family, and all his men of high treason and being a threat to Ferelden."

"Loghain!" Said Aiden with a growl. "First, he made our family a pariah, now he is working with Howe to destroy our family. Grrr." Aiden growls before taking a deep breath to calm down. "What happened next?"

"We waited in the forest for the next three days to plan out our next move. The mages were sent back to the Circle to stop whatever plans Loghain may try with them. While Fergus took most of the soldiers with him back to Highever. After I told him about mother, father, and Oriana he couldn't stop thinking about Oren. The other commanders conversed and agreed that, with the evidence and circumstances, that Loghain and Howe are likely working together. They thought by retaking Highever they can weaken the resolve of any other supporters the two may have and I agreed." Said Annette.

"What about the sword and shield? Also, why are you here in Lothering?" Asked Aiden.

"I managed to save them back at Ostagar and gave them to Fergus before he left. As for why I am here, I wanted to make it to Redcliffe and speak with Arl Eamon, inform him about Cailan's death, and possibly find out something about this mystery relative. The quickest route is by the Imperial Highway." Said Annette before getting a disgruntled look. "However, less than a day before we arrived Loghain and his men came through this town, took every soldier stationed here, left the town defenseless with the exception of a few Templars who just don't care, and just up and left. On top of that, he declared the king was murdered by the Grey Wardens. That they are to be considered traitors, and have put bounties on you and your companions. Since then, I, Joseph, one of the commanders I told you about, and the detachment of men we brought have been trying to restore order to the town. The citizens are panicking and just slowing themselves down. We have been trying to convince them to come with us to Redcliffe, but some are too scared to leave. Others refuse to leave for either being too arrogant to recognize the danger or are waiting for any stragglers from Ostagar. Also, there is someone you should meet on the outskirts of town. You can't miss him. He is currently sitting in a cage and may be able to help us." Said Annette.

Meanwhile, back with the others. As the two siblings continued to converse the others gave a run down on who Annette is.

"Who is she, and why as our de facto leader suddenly run to her side like some lovesick pup?" Said Morrigan, who was both perplexed, annoyed, and possibly something else.

"Oh, don't get you're nickers in a twist swamp witch. That's just his sister. She was put in charge of organizing the noncombatants at Ostagar." Replied Ana with a bit of snark.

"That still doesn't explain why he is acting like this. Surely, she would have been among the safest there?" Continued Morrigan.

"They recently lost their home and half their family. Not to mention you know just how bad the battle was. Is it any wonder they are acting like this?" Thorin calmly stated.

"Hm, I suppose not. I just hope this does not become a regular thing. We already have an overly emotional fool among us." Said Morrigan while glancing at Alistair.

"Yeah, who wa-nts…Hey, you're talking about me aren't you." Alistair said.

"Oh, it seems that he can understand. I was under the impression that you could only knew how to bark or grunt." Morrigan remarked, earning snorts from everyone but Theron. Who simply smirks at the humorous situation.

Before Alistair could comment the group heard, "Hey, everyone, come over here;" from Aiden. The group then turned and joined the brother and sister duo.

"Ok, here is a summary of what Ann here just told me. Loghain passed through Lothering a few days ago. It seems he has seized power after Cailan's death and has declared the Wardens traitors. So, we need to be wary. Things are desperate and desperate people do stupid things." Aiden said.

"What do we do then? We can't really just keep going down the road with what we got. We have no food, spare clothes, medicine, or any other supplies." Ana said.

"We split up. Ana, Thorin, and Morrigan, you go gather supplies. Alistair and Michael, you go with Ann and talk with commander Joseph and the local Mother about the evacuations. Also, see if you can convince any of those that decided to stay behind to leave. Theron and Natia, you two go to the local tavern. See if you can here any rumors. If not, just keep an eye on some men in uniform. Their Loghain's and it is better to be safe than sorry." Aiden said.

"What about you, you big galut?" Natia asked, in her own way.

"I am going to see about recruiting some extra muscle for our group. Oh, and before I forget," Aiden turns towards the first listed group. "Could you see about getting some armor for someone about my size. If possible, that is." Aiden then turns to leave, calling Brutus to his side. The others, following Aiden's lead, decided to go perform their respected task.

-Small Time Skip-

Morrigan, Thorin, and Ana walk towards the center of town. Looking for any merchants, traders, or shops but could not find anyone. Getting frustrated they head back towards the Chantry where they see a large crowd around a single kart.

"Five silver for a loaf of BREAD! Are you kidding!" One villager yelled.

"There is no way a single bottle of medicine cost TEN silver pieces!" Yelled another.

"Alright, that's enough. I said ENOUGH." Yelled one of the soldiers that came with Annette.

"What is going on over there?" Asked Thorin, who had never seen such a large disgruntlement over prices before.

"If I would have to guess. I think that fat assed merchant is gouging his prices. With no one else around to challenge him and no official authority to stop him he can get away with it. Especially since he appears to have no desire to ever return and do repeat business." Said Ana, who had run into similar situations with racist shop owners in Denerim.

"Why does that soldier not do anything except trying to quell the crowd? Or why has Annette not commandeered the man's goods for the townsfolk?" Asked a still confused Thorin.

"It isn't against the law to do so. As for why Annette hasn't stepped in… I think she is trying to stay as true to the kingdoms laws as possible. No military officer or official can simply demand goods from a seller or individual, they have to pay or trade. The only official exception, that I am aware of, is when the king himself declares martial law in times of extreme unrest. Even then, he has to have the approval of the local lords of the affected region." Explained Ana, who earned wide eyed stares from her two companions. "What, I may be an elf, but I made sure how to best utilize the law to get one over on racist humans."

"Hm, I say we just go over there due our business and leave no need to help these people. Tis only survival of the fittest after all." Said Morrigan, earning a glare from Ana.

Before she could say anything, however, Thorin stepped in. "That may be, but you have to remember that we to are in a dire situation. We pay those prices for even the barest essentials we'll have to next to nothing left. Not to mention, we can earn some good will from these people who will spread the word."

"Mmm… You are rite. It would be a poor decision to not take advantage of the situation. Even if it is something as trivial as this." Said Morrigan.

The trio then made there way to the merchant, who had begun arguing with the soldier on his prices. It took them a minute to get around the group of civilians. As they got close, they begin to hear, "You know these people can't pay your prices. Just drop them and put this whole fiasco behind us."

The stubborn merchant said, "I can charge however much I want. Neither you, the Chantry Mother, or that high and mighty whore can change my mind."

"I would change that tune if I were you, ya fat bastard." Ana said.

The merchant turned towards the trio. "Oh, and why may that be, you filthy knife ear."

"Because you are surrounded by desperate people. You may be protected now, but what about later when you leave town." This caught the merchant's attention. "The soldiers may stop these people from anything at the moment. However, the moment you step out of town what's to stop these people from tracking you down, kill you, and take what they want. Just some food for thought." Said Ana, making the merchant realize just how much trouble he is in.

"Alright, you made your point. I'll drop the prices…But not for you. You and your friends don't look so desperate. So, the prices stay for you." The merchant said, making Ana furious, but before she could say anything Thorin spoke up.

"Actually, we don't need to. According to the restored treaties between the Grey Wardens and the kingdom of Ferelden, they may claim whatever they may need in order to combat the Blight. Myself and the knife ear, as you called her, are members of the Wardens. As such, we can take whatever we need from you." Thorin said in a way that reminded the people of the merchant's own tone of voice. Then noticing the looks he was getting from those around him. "I was interested in the Wardens growing up and looked into the laws that apply to them." He said with a shrug.

"Well, even if that is true, Lord Loghain declared your order traitors. So, I say, soldier, arrest them." The merchant demanded.

Said soldier turned to the merchant and gave him a withering glare. "One, I don't take orders from anyone but commander Joseph and lady Annette. Two, as far as I and every other man in uniform that isn't sloshed, are concerned the only reel traitor is Loghain himself. So, here's what I am going to do. I going to hold you still, allow the Wardens to take whatever they need, and then watch you as you sell these people goods at reasonable prices. If you try to resist or try anything smart with me, I will toss you in the cage with the Qunari. Do you understand?" The soldier said with a calm cold voice. Earning a rapid shake of the head from the now fearful merchant.

The merchant stepped aside and allowed the Wardens to take from his stores. As the trio began rummaging through the various odds and ends a voice spoke up from behind them. "Well, isn't this a surprise." Said the new arrival. Thorin and Ana quickly turned around, while Morrigan did so slowly with eyes widening in surprise. Who they saw was a man with startingly familiar facial features. "It's been a long time…sister."

-Scene Change-

Theron and Natia walk towards the local inn/tavern. Looking around at the scared and desperate people fleeing the Blight. As they get close Natia says. "Ok, so we keep our ears open to anything interesting and our eyes on the fuckers that work for Loghain."

"Yes, that is our goal." Theron said as his form of reply.

"Great, sounds simple enough. Hey how about we get something to drink while we wait?" Natia asked.

"Unless you are referring to water, I think it is prudent that we keep a level head in here. Especially around the traitors' blind followers." Theron said.

"Uh, fi-ne. Spoil all my fun why don't you." Natia grumbled.

They then enter and see the place was packed. Every table had its seats filled up with somber looking people. All but one table that is, it was filled with boisterous men in Ferelden soldier uniforms.

"I guess you aren't the only one to have these sentiments about strong drinks, Natia." Theron stated before properly noting the soldiers.

"I suppose those are the fuckers we are supposed to watch." Said Natia when she saw who Theron was looking at.

"Yes, I believe …" Theron began to say before being cut off by their targets.

"Hey bar wench, get another round for the king's men." Yelled one soldier, who was assumed to be the leader. It was at that point that one of his cohorts pointed out Theron and Natia. The entire group then got up and walked towards them.

"I think they noticed us." Theron said.

"O-oh, is that it. OF COURSE, they noticed us you pretentious piece of shit!" Said Natia, beginning in a sarcastic tone before transitioning into a yell.

"Well, well, well. What do we have here boys. An elf and a dwarf. Not just any elf dwarf either, but a pair that have an awful lot of resemblance to two of those Wardens on the bounty poster." Said the drunken lead soldier.

Before anything else could be said a woman in Chantry garb walked forward from the side. She looked relatively young, not being especially tall or short. The most notable characteristic about her is her shoulder length red hair and bright blue eyes.

"There is no need for violence gentlemen." Said the woman in a distinctly Orlesion accent.

"Step aside sister, these two are wanted fugitives." The lead soldier said.

"Oh, and what about that fucker Lopayne, or whatever he's called. Shouldn't he on that bounty poster as well for cutting and running like a scared newborn nug, leaving your king and his men to die." Natia remarked.

"Shut it, you pint sized whore. Its because of your ilk that the king is dead. I don't care what you, that slut barking orders, or any of those so-called commander's say. They are all traitors." The soldier said as his form of response.

"PLEASE, I beg of you. There has been enough blood shed already. There is no need to add more to it." The woman pleaded once more.

Theron then stepped forward. "I believe you should head her words shem. Neither me, nor my companion, are pushovers in a fight. So, I am giving you one chance. Stand down and let us be, or else." He said.

"You threatening us, US. That's it, boys kill the knife ear but keep the midget alive. We can have some fun with her before doing her in." The lead soldier said to his fellows.

"The FUCK did you just call me!" Natia yelled angrily before she, in a surprising amount of dexterity, jumped at the soldier. Grabbing on to his shoulder with one hand, bracing her feat against his chest, and repeatedly punching the soldiers face before he could think. Sending the leader of the group down to the ground, nocked out, while missing several of his teeth.

The other soldiers, surprised by the female dwarf's attack, grabbed their weapons to help their leader. But before the two closest to him could even draw their weapons halfway, Theron stepped forward and throat punched both of them. This was soon followed by Theron sweeping the one on the right off his feet, slamming him to the ground. He then turned towards the still recovering soldier on the left, punched him in the gut, and flipped him over onto his companion.

The last two soldiers, who were in the back of the group, had fully drawn their weapons. However, before they could help their fellows the red-haired Chantry sister got in their way. She drew a dagger hidden in her sleeve and quickly used it to disarm the two men. While shocked by what the woman of the cloth had just done, said woman then kicked the one on the right in the stomach, knocking the air from his lungs. She then hand chopped the throat of the one on the left, followed quickly by a kick to behind the knee, and finished with a pommel strike to the head. The soldier who had just recovered his breath suddenly found a dagger to his throat and the woman saying, "I think you and you friends should stop. We wouldn't want you boys hurt anymore now, would we." She asked rhetorically.

The soldier simply held his hands and slowly nodded his head. Being careful not to cut his own throat on the dagger. With the fight now over Natia decided to kick the lead soldier in the ribs to wake him up.

"Get up you bronto humping bum!" Said Natia, while she 'lightly' kicked him.

"Uhh, what hit me?" Asked the slightly delirious soldier.

"She did, believe it or not, and now I would like to say something to you." Said Theron, who stepped away from his groaning former adversaries, to stand above the still floored leader. "Or to be more precise, I would like you to deliver a message for me. Go to Loghain and tell him that we know what he did at the battle. What he has done before it. That we will see justice done, for ourselves, for the Wardens, for every soldier that died due to his greed. Now run off, before I change my mind." Theron finished in a cold, dark, calm tone that caused a shiver to go down the man's spine.

Before he could get up however, Natia put a foot on his chest and got in his face. "And one more thing before you go. If I EVER see, hear, or even find a mention of any of you again, I will hunt you down, cut off the sad shriveled little things you call your balls, and force you to eat em rite where you stand. Now get out. OF. MY. SIGHT!" Natia finished her threat by repeatedly stomping on the leader's chest.

With that said she let the leader up, who immediately rushed as quickly as he could to the door, leaving both his injured men and a bad smell behind. Said men followed soon after at varying degrees of speed, some having to help the others. While the rest of the tavern simply watched the entire ordeal with either shock or a bit of enjoyment, clearly not liking the soldiers that just fled.

"Thank you for sparing their lives. My name is Liliana." Said the Chantry sister.

"It was no trouble. They may have been fools, but not ones deserving of death…yet. My name is Theron, and my loud companion is Natia." Introduced the elf. "But may I enquire why a woman of the shemlen faith is able to wield a dagger so well?"

"I was not always a member of the Chantry. Anyway, it is good that I met you." Liliana said.

"And why is that Lely?" Natia said, giving her fellow redhead a nickname.

"Because the Maker guided me to you." Liliana said in matter-of-fact tone.

This surprised the two non-humans. Before they said anything else they simply turned their heads, looked each other in the eye, blinked, and returned to facing the Chantry sister, all without uttering a single word.

"Ok then. We're just going to calmly step back out the door and away from the nice crazy lady." Said Natia, with her hands raised in a non-threatening gesture and took a step back.

"I know I must sound crazy, but I truly mean to help you. The Maker sent a dream to me seven nights ago." Liliana pleaded to the two of them.

Theron, who had an easier time believing her statement, or at the very least hid his disbelief a bit better, simply asked. "What exactly did you see in this dream?"

Liliana, who had released a sigh of relief, began to recount her experience. "It started out with me looking over a map of Thedas, until the map took up my entire field of vision. Then starting in the south of Ferelden I saw a dark blot, that seemed to hold a sense of dread, began to expand until it overtook and covered the entire kingdom. It then spread to every corner of Thedas, leaving nothing but darkness. Then a single beam of light shined from within the darkness. From within this light, I saw a silver-grey griffon, and then I woke up."

"You're not really believing this shit, are you?" Natia asked in shock.

"I know dwarves may not have dreams like elves or shems, but both of our cultures have some sort of reverence for dreams. I also find it highly coincidental that this dream on the same night as the battle. Even if what she says is just coincidence, she is clearly quite skilled, and we need as much help as possible." Theron explained.

"Oh, alright, she has my support. But she has to get the support from the rest of the crew, you know." Natia said.

"Splendid! I just need to go gather my things from the Chantry and say my fair wells." Liliana said to the other two.

"Good, some of our companions are there as well speaking to …Oh, what do you call her again? The 'Revered Mother' I think." Theron said.

The now trio then gave the tavern one more look around the tavern before turning to leave.

-Scene Change-

Aiden and Brutus walk around the outskirts of Lothering, looking for the prisoner Annette spoke of. After half an hour he saw the person he was looking for in a cage hanging on the side of the road of town. As he approached the large human saw a being that he estimated was about his height, but it was difficult to tell with him sitting in the cage. The being was obviously male, had naturally tan skin, with white-grey hair set in cornrows. (AN: If this isn't rite for his hair style, I am sorry. I don't know what else to call it.) Despite his sterner appearance, he looked like he was in his early to mid-thirties.

As Aiden stood before what could only be a hornless Qunari, said Qunari spoke. "What do you want to human? Come to stair?"

"No, I was just wondering what a loan Qunari was doing in southern Ferelden." Said Aiden in perfect Qunlat, the Qunari's native language.

This surprised the Qunari. "A human who knows a civilized tongue in this country. My you are a surprise. But I ask again, what do you want?" He said, also in Qunlat.

"I am a Grey Warden, most of my fellows died a week ago in Ostagar and a traitor is after what few of us are left. We need as much help as we can get. I came here to see if you could be useful, what you were locked up for, and if you were willing to help. From your physique and tone, my first question is answered. Now, will you answer my second?" Aiden said.

"I killed a family of humans. I did not resist as the others placed me in here." The Qunari said in a seemingly emotionless tone, but Aiden knew better.

"Why? You do not act in the manner of a rabid or corrupted Tal'Vashoth. You hold yourself as a true member of the Beresaad." Aiden pressed further.

"I was a Sten." The Qunari simply stated.

"Were you armed when you were detained?" Aiden asked, earning a simple "No" as a form of response. This seemed to satisfy the human.

"I can not help you bring back the family you killed, and probably never earn the forgiveness of their loved ones. However, you can help me and my companions in stopping the Blight, saving many more families like the one you've slain. In return I can help you restore your purpose within the Qun." Aiden stated.

With wide eyes the Qunari said. "If you can do this, I will follow you."

"There are just two conditions you must follow. First, you must abide by my decisions, and if not me then whoever I put in charge. Second, within my companions will be both females and mages. I know Qunari policy and practices with both. You will keep comments of such nature to a minimum." Aiden stated. After a brief moment the Qunari nodded his head in acceptance.

"Good, I assume the Revered Mother holds the key to the cage so I will go see her. I will return shortly." Aiden said before turning and leaving. Brutus stayed behind for a moment to stare at the Qunari, giving a bark and a little tale wag before running to his master's side. When both were gone, the Qunari, for the first time since his detainment, he gave a slight smile.

-Scene Change-

As the others went and completed their assigned task Annette, Alistair, and Michael checked on the refugees, before the crowd the greedy merchant had formed. Making sure no one was going to try anything that could cause a disturbance to the evacuation. They then converged inside the Chantry, were Alistair learned from a knight from Redcliff that Arl Teagan was sick. The group met up with the Revered Mother and Joseph, the commander, to see how the preparations were going and to update them on developments.

"Everything seems to be under way. The only things that are being taken are essentials and whatever that can be carried on their person. The only ones that haven't is one stubborn ass farmer who thinks that he can weather out the Blight like its some Maker damned rainstorm… Pardon my language Mother." Joseph quickly asked for forgiveness.

"It is alright my child. With what has been happening it is understandable that tempers are running high." The Revered Mother replied.

"Huhm, anyway, the only others that are holding out is the Hawke family and a few Templars. Apparently, they all had someone who was at Ostagar. As for the Hawke family, they seem capable all things considered. Especially that son in law, something about him just seems more than what he seems." Joseph finished his rundown of events.

It was after he finished that both Ana's and Natia's group came into the Chantry. The Former of which all carrying enchanted packs that held all of the supplies and gear. Both groups went to their companion's side, plus Liliana who explained her desire to leave to the Revered Mother, to explain what happened. Though Morrigan had a slightly shocked look that caught the others attention, but they decided not to say anything for the time being. While the latter group, particularly Natia, had some blood on them.

Before either group could say how they got along Aiden and Brutus came through the door. After a minute of looking and finding his party the large man walked directly towards the Revered Mother.

"Hello my child. What may I do to help you?" The Mother asked kindly.

"This is my twin brother, Aiden. The one I was telling you about." Said Annette.

"Only good things I hope." Aiden said in jest with a slight smirk on his face.

"Oh, yes. Annette here has spoke nothing but good things about you…Except for your tendency to snore." Joseph said in response.

After getting a little chuckle Aiden then got serious as he returned his attention to the Mother. "Mother, I would humbly request for you to release the captured Qunari into my custody." Aiden said.

"The Qunari! Do you know what he did!?" Asked a shocked Liliana while the Mother didn't say anything, caught to off guard by the question.

"He said that he killed a family. I also know that he most likely allowed himself to be chained without a fight." Aiden replied.

"Yes, that is true, but why do you want such a brute?" The Mother asked, finally finding her voice. While the others remained quiet, wanting to see what is happening.

"We, the Grey Wardens that is, are under manned. We need as much help as we can get, even with the additions of lady Morrigan and this Chantry Sister. The Qunari can be of great use to us in our endeavors. He may not be able to make up for the lives he took, but he can help in saving countless others. As for why I want him specifically, that is more complicated." Aiden said.

"Please explain it to me. I cannot, in good faith, release that murderer without a solid explanation." The Mother requested.

"Very well. The Qunari is a commander of his people, a Sten if I am not mistaken. His leader, the Arishock, most likely sent him and some others down south due to the Blight. The Qunari don't put much stock in stories, and they have no records of their own. So, they most likely wanted a firsthand account. Anyway, after a Qunari reaches a certain rank, they are bestowed a weapon that must protect and maintain until they die. The Qunari prisoner lost his." Aiden explained.

"That is still no excuse for what he did." The Mother stated adamantly.

"I don't disagree with you, and neither does your prisoner. He knows what he did was wrong and he has put himself under the punishment of the proper authorities. It is why he has not rebelled against his imprisonment." Aiden said.

"Still, how do we know he won't due it again. Surly a lost weapon couldn't have been the only reason he acted like a complete beast." The Mother said.

"For anyone else, I would agree. However, his case is different. Allow me to put it into perspective. Say you were charged with taking care of a one-of-a-kind statuette of Andraste. Then one day its missing. The resulting punishment is either a truly painful death or banishment from everything you have ever known and ever worked for. That is the situation the Qunari is in. By losing his weapon he can never return to his people. THAT is why he killed that family." Aiden said, finally putting things into perspective to the now wide-eyed Mother.

After taking a minute to contemplate what was just told to her the Mother finally relented. "Very well, here. This is the key to the cage. May the Maker watch over you and protect you on your quest."

"Thank you, Mother." Aiden responded before turning to the rest of the group. "Have you all gotten everything that you need?" Aiden asked his companions, earning nods in return. "Good, then we need to head out as soon as possible. The sooner we get to Redcilffe the sooner we can plan our next move."

With that said everyone decided to set up for the rode. The shopping group distributed their purchases to everyone else and Annette gave some final orders to Joseph before handing him command of the refugees. Liliana took a moment to say goodbye to the Mother and gather her things. The group then set out, picking up the Qunari on their way out and outfitting him with some spare gear.

As they made their way onto the Kings Road the group ran into some Darkspawn attacking a pair of dwarfish merchants, a father and son duo by the names of Bodahn and Sandal. The beast were quickly put down and the dwarves were especially grateful. After the dwarves gave their thanks, the party continued down the road.

-Time Skip-

An hour down the road the group is passing what looks like a field. As they walk, they begin to here barking from a distance. This especially caught the attention of Brutus, who stopped and looked towards the source. Causing everyone else to stop and look as well. Everyone ends up seeing a loan Mabari looking at them with its stubby tail wagging, obviously excited. Aiden notices it is the same Mabari he helped back at Ostagar.

Brutus then runs off to the new dog and they begin to play with one another. The group soon follows with Aiden taking the lead.

"Whose dog is this?" Asked Thorin, still not used to such creatures and unfamiliar with Mabari's in particular.

"No ones, actually. Her owner was killed prior to the battle. She was sick and the kennel master had me help her." Said Aiden, kneeling down near the now sitting, yet still somewhat excited, canine.

"She must have imprinted on you, brother." Annette said.

"Is that rite girl. Do you want to come with us?" Asked Aiden towards the new dog. Earning a happy bark as a sign of confirmation.

"Hold up. Can we even afford to take care of another of these flee bitten beast. I mean we are kind of light on resources as it is. So, unless anyone wants dog for din…ner." Natia began but slowed down when both Mabari's began to growl at her.

"Don't worry shorty. I may not know much on Mabari's, like our resident noble born's, but even I know that these guys can take care of themselves." Ana said, getting happy barks in appreciation.

"Ok then. Well, if you are going to come with us you need a name. How about Nila (AN: Pronounced Nye-La)?" Asked Aiden. After a minute the newly dubbed Nila barked in confirmation.

"Well, that is settled then. Now can we get back on our way? I would like to find a place to camp before it gets dark." Said Alistair.

Everyone agreed that Alistair had a point and continued on their way. Traveling until an hour before sundown. They set up camp in a clearing a little way off the road. Joined soon after by the father and son dwarves from when they first set out.

Ok, I know it's been a while but like I said, I do not wright fast. Anyway, you probably noted some things in this chapter. First, an explanation on how Aiden knows Qunlat will be explained next chapter. Second, yes, I introduced a second Mabari into the group. They only have mostly passive roles to begin with so why not. Third, I have made it clear that Fergus survived and gave Loghain a more proactive role in the chaos in Ferelden. I will not, however, be going over what transpires at Highever in any significant degree. Just know that it will be covered later in the story.
