At lunch time, Hailey moves her desk phone as she is looking for something and she discovers that her phone has been plugged out.

That explains why her phone has been so quiet all day and she did not have one call.

Hailey looks over to Voight's office and a moment later she gets up.

"My phone isn't working." Hailey steps in without announcing herself and then takes a stand in front of Voight's desk.

"I plugged it out." Voight outright confesses without beating around the bush.

"Why?" Hailey questions as she pulls a frown.

"Because I believe that Jay is going to make a nuisance of himself before he lets this thing go." Voight explains as he sits back in his chair and watches Hailey like she should already know this.

"I told him it is over." She did not exactly tell Voight how their conversation went earlier.

"So did I and yet there he was on my doorstep." The irritation is evident in his tone.

Hailey thinks about it and then she nods like she gets it. If Jay still came looking for her even after Voight of all people told him to stay away, then Jay is definitely going to make this difficult.

Turning around to leave, Hailey stops and turns back.

"Those flowers this morning…" Hailey points over her shoulder.

"Was from Jay." Voight finishes her sentence for her.

"I would have thrown it out myself."

"I saved you the trouble." Voight gives a smug smile.

Hailey should have known and with that she returns to her desk and Voight returns to his paperwork.

About ten minutes later, the team is on their way out to go get lunch when Voight calls for Hailey from his office.

"We're going for lunch." Hailey tells Voight as enters his office.

"No, you're not." Voight responds as he keeps on with his paperwork and not even looking up.

There's a moment of silence as Hailey thinks about his response.

And just before she questions it, Voight answers.

"I want you to stay with me until this thing with Jay is over." Voight eventually looks up at Hailey.

"Sarge, Jay is not some serial killer that is targeting me." Hailey says it with a bit of a sigh. Sure, she loves Voight being all protective of her, but this is maybe just a bit too much.

Voight looks at her as he thinks about it.

Yes, he knows that he is being overprotective at this point. He knows that Hailey can take care of herself. But the thing is that he wants her to stay away from Jay because he knows that Jay is going to do everything he can to sweet talk her to go back to him and Voight is going to do everything he can to keep Hailey with him.

"I'm not stopping you." Voight eventually says.

Hailey dips her head to the side conveying that she does not believe him.

"Don't wait up guys." Hailey tells the team over her shoulder.

"Everything alright?" Atwater asks.

"Yeah." Hailey nods and then the team takes their leave for lunch.

Hailey takes a seat in front of Voight's desk.

"Jay said that he will bring the signed papers tonight and I believe that he is going to pull out every stop before then." Voight explains where he is comes from.

"I told him very clearly that it is over between us, it's over with our marriage and there is no going back." Hailey gives a summary of what she told Jay. Even though he still pleaded, she stuck with it.

"Jay has never been one to listen." Voight comments as he closes the file on the desk in front of him.

Hailey does not even respond to that as she knows it for herself, but she also knows that is also a good description of herself.

"I just hope he does not want the ring back." Hailey comments as she thinks back to the night she dropped it into the river.

"He can go fish it out himself." Voight then gets up as he places the file on top of another heap of files.

"What do you want for lunch, I'll phone." Voight then pulls out his phone.

"The same as usual." Hailey answers as she moves from the chair in front of the desk onto the couch and makes herself comfortable. The team is out, so no one will notice and wonder.

About a half an hour later when they hear the gate to the stairs open, Hailey takes her food and moves back to her desk.

"Hey, we ran into Jay." Adam happily tells Hailey.

"We didn't know he was back. Why didn't you say anything?" Burgess asks.

Hailey first wants to say that he didn't even let her know that he was back but then decides not to show the team her hurt and anger at this moment.

"We're not together anymore." Hailey calmly states as she gets straight to the point and then she looks at her food to take a bite, but she suddenly does not feel like eating anymore.

"Oh." Burgess is caught off guard and so is everyone else, so everyone just remains silent.

"It didn't sound like it when he spoke to us." A few moments later Atwater confesses their feelings about the situation.

"He said to give you this." Adam didn't know what to do, so he uses this moment to hand Hailey a box that Jay gave him.

Hailey takes the box, and it goes straight from Adam's hand to the dustbin. She does not care what is inside of it.

"Ok." Adam comments and then retreats to his desk.

"Just leave it alone and pretend nothing is going on." Hailey comments a few moments later as there is an awkward silence.

"He also said that he will see you later." Adam eventually says, not sure if he should or not.

There is no response from Hailey and then everyone goes back to work, in silence.

Now it all makes sense to Burgess. So, that is why Voight got rid of the flowers this morning. But how did he know? How much of her personal life does he know?

"Did he say where?" A long while later, Hailey breaks the silence as she looks over to Adam. If she knows where Jay is planning on cornering her, then she can avoid him.

Adam just innocently shakes his head hoping that he does not get sucked into the situation and then ends up the enemy. He knows that break ups can be bad for all people involved.

Hailey nods as she accepts his response.

Jay is sitting in his car watching the front door of the precinct.

He had been waiting for Hailey all day and then when the team came out to go to lunch, Hailey was not with them.

It disappointed him but he was not surprised. He can picture Voight telling her to stay behind.

Jay knows that Voight can be fiercely protective. And that is exactly where Hailey finds herself. Whether she realizes it or not.

He just wants to talk to her one more time just to convince her to give them one more try.

He sent her flowers this morning, he wonders if she got them. He gave Adam a box with a gift, and he wonders if she even got that or if Voight intercepted it before delivery.

After sitting in the car for a long while, Jay considers if he should just go in and ask Trudy to go get Hailey.

He must do something that will be successful before tonight.

In the middle of the team briefing, Trudy appears.

"Hailey there is someone here to see you." Trudy has an almost happy look on her face and Hailey immediately knows who it is. Trudy probably thinks that this is a surprise visit and that she will be happy to see Jay.

"I'll go." With that Voight makes his way downstairs while giving Trudy a look that says that she must not question it.

Just as they disappear around the corner of the stairs, Hailey follows.

Jay waits with expectation as he sees Trudy coming back down and then he sighs in defeat when he sees Voight behind her.

He is now going to get the chewing out of his life, he just knows it.

Just as Voight steps through the security door, he stops and turns around.

"I'll handle it." Hailey then appears.

Voight looks from Hailey to Jay and pins him with a glare that sends a clear warning that if he must come down here again, there will be blood.

Hailey follows Jay into the office by the front desk and closes the door.

"Jay, this has got to stop." Hailey gets straight to the point.

"All I ask is for one more chance. If it doesn't work, then it doesn't work but at least give me a chance." Jay's tone is soft and pleading.

"Jay." Hailey sighs.

"Hailey, please stay with me." Jay steps closer and places his hands on her arms and attempts to look into her eyes but she turns her face down.

"This is the last conversation I'm letting you have with me." Hailey explains as she looks up at him.

"Now you sound like Voight." Jay does not remove his hands but stays close.

"Forget about Voight, this is me." Hailey's tone turns annoyed.

"He will disappoint you too, you know this." Jay tries to make Hailey see Voight in the same light he does.

"He did not confess his undying love to me Jay, you did." Hailey's tone is harsh, and she pushes him away from her.

"This is it, the end." With that Hailey is out the door but before she goes up the stairs she stops and turns back.

"And those papers better be signed by tonight or else I'm telling Voight he can do whatever he wants to." With that Hailey is up the stairs and out of sight.

Trudy looks between the two and then she quickly looks down when Jay looks around to see if there are any witnesses.

The way Hailey just said that, made it sound like she would let Voight off the leash, and Trudy immediately picked up on it.

She was right, Voight and Hailey are close.
