May God bless you all.
Dib surveyed his surroundings. It was pretty much the same…
…Yet there was something different. As he looked around there were a few minor changes to the neighborhood. A new sign here, a house had been painted a different color maybe, but that wasn't it.
There was something slightly different about his house…
…There was a woman watering the plants in the yard. She seemed to be maybe a little younger than his father and had glasses and long black hair. However, she wasn't dressed like a housekeeper or anything like that. In fact, she looked a lot like…
"Ah… there you are." Said a familiar voice as the membrane's father walked out of their house.
"Just watering the plants." Said… whoever she was.
"Why not just let the automatic sprinkler system do it?" Asked the Professor as he walked up to her.
"I told you somethings still wrong about the calculations. They are to give each plant the exact amount of water needed for optimum growth, but the sprinklers keep overwatering them." She said.
"By a few centiliters." Said the Professor. "It's not going to throw off the growth of those plants."
"It may throw them off just enough for petals to be a slightly lighter shade of red…" She said as she turned off the hose. "You of all people shouldn't be lecturing me on being lax when it comes to calculations."
"You're right." Replied the Professor. "It's just… you know the kids will probably be at the beach for a while…" He went on.
"…I just think we should take advantage of this time."
At this Dib's mouth plopped open. "No…" He said.
"What did you have in mind?" She asked as she approached him.
"I thought we could…" He went on as he took her in his arms.
"…PRACTICE SCIENCE!" They both shouted unanimously and then darted inside the house.
Dib's jaw seemed determined to dislodge from the rest of his face.
"Has the Dib-smelly gone into some sort of human shock?" Asked Zim. However he got no answer.
"Gaz-human has…" He asked but stopped mid-sentence.
Dib turned to his sister… Her jaw too seemed to be attempting to escape the rest of her body.
"Is something wrong here? Are you two!?" Asked Zim before…
"Is… that our new stepmom!?" Dib practically shouted.
"Please dad doesn't even have enough time for us.." Gaz said, but the shock on her face did not subside.
"…Like he could have time to find a woman."
The two walked slowly into the house but couldn't find either adult.
"Don't forget the Liquid Nitrogen honey!" Shouted the woman. "We'll have to make sure it freezes quickly."
"Already on it." Replied the Professor.
"So they really are practicing science." Said Dib.
"Of course." Gaz replied as she let her palm find her forehead. "Where else would he find a woman?"
"So the men are the ones who must find said women to romance?" Asked Zim who must have followed them inside.
"Pretty much." Replied Dib.
"Let's go." Said Gaz.
"Go where?" Asked Dib.
"Dad said we were at the beach." She replied as she headed out the door.
"Wait." Said Dib as he followed her.
"I thought you said we shouldn't find out anything about our future."
"Well, I've already found out more than I want to know." Replied Gaz.
"I might as well find out how I'm dealing with it."
Ah, the beach. It wasn't a place Gaz usually found herself. Not that she was against it or anything like that. She just honestly didn't really consider this place much of a hang-out. The sun-blazing, sand in your feet just didn't appeal to her like it did to so many. Yet apparently she was here. Somewhere.
"Ahh! Don't!" The green alien next to her screamed.
"What is it?" Asked Dib.
Gaz turned and saw an older version of herself sitting on a rock in the shallows. However, she doubted that was what Zim was screaming about.
"Noooooo!" He screamed as they got closer. Then suddenly he went silent.
Gaz examined the scene before them. Future Dib had his camera out and was standing just in front of future Zim, who was… sitting in front of a partly covered in sand Gir. However, that wasn't as strange as the fact that…
"The water!" Zim shouted. "I'm actually letting it touch me!?"
"You're not freaking out that we're all at the beach together!?" Asked Dib.
"The better question is why am I here with you two nerds?" Added Gaz.
"Can you two not see!?" Said Zim. "I, the mighty Zim! Must have found a way for my skin to be immune to the numerous pollutants found in much of this planet's water."
"Took you long enough…" Said Dib. "…Speaking of which how far in the future are we?"
Zim took out his tablet obviously ignoring or not caring about Dib's slightly condescending statement. "It would appear we have jumped 2 additional earth years ahead of our previous one."
"Hmmm, so those are how your feet look huh?" Asked Dib.
"You wish your feet looked as good as Zims!" the space boy shouted back.
Gaz ignored the insult match that was currently going on before her. She instead was observing herself. She actually seemed cool. Not a worry in the world. She seemed content to be hanging out with her brother and his alien friend. Who knows maybe Zim had become her…
No! She thought to herself. She wasn't going to even contemplate being friends with Zim. No way, no how.
"Those are the mighty Zim's! Talons!" Shouted Zim.
"Okay, will you two stop it!" Gaz butted in finally causing both boys to turn to her.
"Well, I think that about covers it." Said Future Dib causing the three to give their attention to him.
"I'm gonna head to the car and look over some of these pictures." He said as he began to walk away.
"Oohh! I wanna see! I wanna see!" Shouted Gir as he jumped onto Dib's leg.
"You know we should tell him." Said Future Gaz after her brother (Awkwardly) walked away.
"No, we shouldn't." Said Future Zim as he stood up.
"Tell me what?" Asked Dib. "What are you guys hiding from me?"
"Shs." Said Gaz.
"But what are you…?"
"I said shs."
"He's going to find out eventually." Future Gaz told Future Zim.
"Please!" Replied Zim. "If he hasn't found out by now…"
"He's suspicious." Future Gaz butted in. "We should just let him know."
"Never!" Future Zim shouted. Only to be pushed down into the sand by Future Gaz.
"Fine." She said as she walked off.
Future Zim stood up, brushed himself off, and followed Future Gaz to the car.
"What are you two hiding from me!?" Asked Dib.
"Come on let's go." Said Gaz.
"Wait I thought you didn't…"
"I changed my mind." Said Gaz as she headed for the car.
The three were mostly silent as they road…
…well they were technically in the car but not taking up space. At least not from the other people as they technically passed right through them. Future Gaz was in the back seat on her Game Slave 4, while Future Dib and Future Zim were in the driving and in shotgun respectively.
"Gotta say this is a pretty nice car." Said Dib.
"Yeah, wonder what you did to impress dad enough that he would buy this for you." Added Gaz.
"So Gaz…" Future Dib butted in. "…How's it going with the science fair project?"
"Pretty good…" Replied future Gaz. "…You know as dad would put it… SCIENCE!"
The three shared a brief laugh while their past selves just watched.
Zim was pretty complexed by all this. Why were they all in Dib's car? Why did they all seem to be friendly? And also where exactly were they…
Zim got his last question answered as they pulled up…
…at…
"What is this!" He yelled as Future Dib parked and turned off the car.
"Why are we at the mighty Zim's! base!?"
Their future selves got out of the car and the three followed as they went inside the base.
"No!" Zim yelled. "Get out, OUT!" But to no avail, as they all shot down his elevator.
Upon reaching the lower levels Zim and Dib both gasped.
"Zim's base!?" Zim exclaimed.
"Wow!" Shouted Dib. "Look's…"
"You got an upgrade." Gaz said Nonchalantly. "Nice."
"So how's that ship looking." Said future Zim causing the three to turn in his direction.
"It's almost done." Said a voice from behind the rather large ship.
"I know that voice." Said Zim before the figure revealed himself.
"Skoodge!?" He shouted.
"Who's Skoodge?" Asked Dib.
"A friend of the mighty Zim!" Replied Zim. "But what is he doing in Zim's base?"
"Should be ready by tomorrow." Skoodge replied to future Zim.
"Good." Said Future Zim.
"Oh, by the way." Skoodge said as he turned to Dib. "I was able to increase the distance on the digital telescope."
"Really?" Future Dib responded. "Let me see."
With that Skoodge lead Dib somewhere else in the lab, but Zim and Gaz remained.
"Come on." Said Future Gaz. "God willing we'll beat it this time."
The two then went to a lower part of the lab and the three followed them. Dib wanted to see the telescope but didn't want to leave Gaz alone with Zim and she was pretty insistent on following her future self.
When they reach the lower level the two sat down on two chairs on top of a platform.
"Oh, I know this." Said Dib. "This is that simulation room you have."
"Simulation room?" Asked Gaz.
"Yes!" Answered Zim. "But what are we doing using it for… video games?"
That was all she wrote.
Gaz's eyes went wide as she watched the screen. Her character and Zim's teaming up to defeat the vampire piggies from space.
"Gaz human?" Asked Zim as she appeared to be in a state of stasis.
Which quickly broke as she lunged at him.
"Ahhh!" He screamed as she towered over him. Her face ready to kill.
"All this time you had a simulation room!?" She asked him.
"What…" Said Zim petrified as he looked upon the face of death. "Yes… of course."
Her face then went to Dib, who reacted as though he was just as scared as Zim.
"And you knew about this?" She asked as she slowly began to approach her brother.
"What… well I've only been once.. Gaz… now come on Gaz…" He began to plead as his sister approached.
"All the crap you tell me on a daily basis." She said as she continued her slow walk to her older sibling. "All the times you dragged me along on these adventures…"
"…And you ne…. fefdsafsakf….asfasdf asfasfasdf… . . . .f…"
"It's ha…" Zim intervened but found he couldn't make out the words. Then suddenly…
…Once again they stood in front of the membrane household.
Thank you for all who made it to the end. Don't forget to leave a review.
May God bless you all.
