The Rival's Mistress
CarlislePOV
It's been years since I've felt something for someone. When I lost my wife Esme to Aro's thugs I decided to never get involved with a woman for more than sex ever again. That is until I met her. Isabella Swan. She was the embodiment of pure beauty, long chocolate brown hair, and deep green eyes. She was lusciously tall with the most delectable legs. Her skin was fair but she was far from pale. She is what I would have considered, fine china, a fragile delicate beauty that every man dared to possess. The first time I saw her I wanted her. Whether it was for my own personal pleasure, or to get back at Aro for taking Esme's life I wasn't sure. But I made it my mission that night to get her.
I was attending the truce party that Aro had decided to throw in a feeble attempt to settle the territory wars between our gangs. I was still harbouring anger for his thugs killing Esme. My poor sweet Esme, was caught in a crossfire between my boys and his. They came to my house and shot her. Whilst I was out on business dealing with his pushers on my turf, he shot my wife. I wanted revenge. It was the only reason I was attending this stupid and flamboyant party. It had been a year since I last encountered Aro, and now I had to face him again. All that anguish, all that pain and mourning, the suffering, was bubbling over, the minute I walked into his home. I scoped out the room, no sign of him, but I could see all his thugs, drinking, dancing, and acting like nothing had happened a year ago. Sometimes I wondered if I had of left the Mob life when Esme wanted me to years ago, would life be the way I wanted it to be? I could never be sure. When you're the leader of a very prestigious and dangerous mob, leaving isn't usually a quick and viable option. Everyone is out for blood in this game. And they'd have my head for abandoning my responsibilities as 'Boss.' I wouldn't be able to escape as easily as I had once hoped. This was my life. The only way out, was death.
I wandered through the party. I was greeted by some of Aro's men, and his wife, Jane. A fierce yet poignant woman that one. Although she looks innocent she is far from it, I'd never want to cross her. Aro and Jane were married, but there was no love there. She was a smart woman, and never had children with him, she wanted to take over the day he died. She's cunning and malicious. Admirable, for a woman in this game, but Aro would never go down without a fight. So killing Jane wouldn't balance my need for revenge. I had to take something he loved away. I just had to find out what that was.
"Good evening, Carlisle Cullen," Jane said as she approached me. Her usual flowing hair was tied back into a sophisticated bun and she smiled devilishly at me. "It's good to see you." She added.
"Evening Jane, always a pleasure to see you," I flirted. Jane was a good looking woman, but she's not someone I'd ever want to delve into in a sexual sense. Although I knew she was attracted to me, and has thrown herself at me more than once, I didn't reciprocate what she felt. Attraction was not something I felt easy. My mind was always on business.
"Will I be seeing you in my bedroom later? I know this is a truce party being thrown by my husband but I would never argue if you wanted to join me instead," she said smiling sheepishly.
"Oh Jane you tease me, I'm here on business I have some stuff to settle with your husband, I'll take a raincheck however," I said, kissing her hand softly. She grinned at me, and let the breath escape her mouth slowly, her usual way of trying to draw me in. It wasn't working, but I'll let her think it is. She kissed my cheek and winked at me as she moved off to seek to the other guests arriving. I headed further into the house, when I was approached by Aro's right hand man, Caius.
"Carlisle, lovely to see you again, so much better that I'm not trying to kill you this time," he laughed as he shook my hand.
"Ah Caius, it's been some time," I said. General chit chat, always irritated me. In my line of work we like to shoot first then talk later.
"Aro is expecting you for a poker game in his private lounge, as a way of cementing the truce, so to speak." Caius said beaming. I smiled in return, and nodded. "Just down the hall, Felix will let you in." he said pointing towards a dark door down the hall and then sauntering off. Excellent, I thought to myself time to find something of Aro's to take away. Just as expected Felix let me in and there was Aro, draped in a white and gold suit, hair slicked back smiling as I entered.
"Ah Carlisle my dear friend. I'm so glad you could make it tonight," he said holding out his hand to me. I shook his hand and looked around the room. Lots of rival gang members all in one room, this was not a good idea on his part. "I'd like you to meet my mistress, Isabella Swan." Aro said as she approached us. I turned to face her as she sat on the arm of Aro's chair. She wore a black glittered cocktail dress that revealed her generous cleavage, and cut half way down her back. Her long, wavy, dark hair fell to just above the cut line in the back of her dress. The dress slit up to her mid-thigh on her left side, whilst the other side fell to her feet. Her hourglass figure was gorgeously accentuated in this outfit, and I couldn't help but stare. "Beautiful isn't she Carlisle." Aro said, obviously trying to rub it in that this beautiful creature was his property.
"Yes, she's quite breath taking," I said. Isabella blushed and turned away smiling timidly. Aro rubbed her arm softly and gleamed with pride and lust. Isabella, looked uneasy at his touch, but continued to play the part. I understood now. Aro felt for Isabella but she did not feel for him. The sight before me brought me tremendous joy, I could kill Isabella and finally Aro would pay for what he did to Esme.
"Let us begin our poker game, Isabella my dear, sit in the corner, you're my prize and I want everyone to see you," Aro gushed. She nodded and walked to a seat in the corner. Even her walk was surprisingly attractive, and she didn't even try. I kept the smirk from reaching my lips as I thought of all the things I could do to that girl. I had to refrain from those thoughts. No matter how attractive she was, or how much lust I felt, killing that girl would get me my revenge.
The poker game began and we all played several rounds. Aro started off well but was starting to lose his winning streak by the third round. His usual demeanour was starting to sour as he began losing all his money. By our final card drawing, I had the best hand and I knew no one could beat me. A royal flush. I kept my face neutral, as everyone started their bets. It seemed as though everyone thought they were going to win this round, even Aro, who was now gloating. The bets were raised until almost everyone folded, aside from myself and Aro. He raised, I raised, and it went on until Aro had no chips left. He was still overly confident but was starting to be a little uneasy now.
"I tell you what Carlisle, if your hand is better than mine, you can have Isabella. Although I very much doubt your hand is better than what I have," Aro said cockily. I looked over at Isabella, she looked thoughtfully at me, but there was sadness there. I wonder if this has happened to her before and Aro has won each time.
"Are you sure you want to bet your most prized possession Aro?" I asked keeping my voice neutral and level.
"She wouldn't be going anywhere with my hand either way, but try me Carlisle, I guarantee you'll lose." He said gleaming.
"So be it," I returned, and Aro revealed his hand.
"Straight in diamonds." He said brightly, grinning.
"How unfortunate," I said smiling, revealing my hand. "A royal flush."
"This cannot be!" Aro shouted. "You cannot have Isabella she is mine!" he was absolutely livid.
"You laid the bet, Isabella is mine now," I said slyly. I stood to take my win, when Aro, jumped up from his chair and raced towards me. He tackled me to the ground. He got in the first punch, but I was far more lean and equipped for this, and he was not. I easily pushed him off me and roused on him. He took a swing but his form was poor, I dodged, sending a blow to his head, knocking him off his feet. The brawl started out between everyone immediately. My men against his. My men were stronger, and faster than Aro's.
"Emmet, get the girl," I yelled at my largest and strongest man.
"ENSURE HE DOES NOT GET ISABELLA," Aro shouted at his boys. But most of them were being overpowered by my gang. I focussed my attention on arrow and sent a blow to his face. He whimpered but kept fighting.
"Stick to your word Aro and this can end," I said to Aro as I placed him a strong head lock, and knocking him out from underneath. He growled and rolled onto his back, he jumped up swiftly and threw a hit to my stomach. I doubled over for a short period of time as my vision blurred ever so slightly.
"You cannot take her she is all I have," Aro said vulnerably. I dodged forward punching him in his stomach. He plummeted to the ground. I found my footing and threw myself on top of him in fury.
"You have Jane, what do you need the girl for? Don't make bets you can't bear to part with." I shouted as I punched his face again.
"I love her, Carlisle, if you have any heart, you'll leave her with me," Aro said, through spluttering.
"Like you left my Esme, dead, in my home, after you ordered your men to shoot her? Why should I let you have anything, you took everything from me, and now I'm taking everything from you." I growled. I was inches from Aro's face, and I saw as Aro now connected why I had come tonight.
"Esme was nothing. The boys said she didn't even try to fight back. She wanted to die, she never loved you, she hated you for everything you put her through, and her death means nothing to me, just another casualty in the line of business, I sleep peacefully at night, knowing I am the reason your wife is dead." Aro shouted at me, and now it was my turn to be livid. How could he ever say that about my Esme? I let loose, allowing my anger overtake me. I threw various punches to Aro's face and torso. He was starting to lose consciousness but I continued. I didn't even realise the mess around me was silent, all my men had beat Aro's men.
"Boss, we have the girl, we can go, area is secure," I head Jasper, my right hand man say in my ear. I threw one final hit to Aro's stomach, and I stood up, wiping my bloody hands on my shirt. I followed Jasper out the back of Aro's mansion and got in the car they had set up ready for our escape. I got in and we took off back to my place. I had the girl, now I could kill her and get my revenge.

BPOV
I have no idea what had happened. One minute Aro was playing poker, and the next I was being carried away by a very large man, he smelt nice at least. He was being chased by Aro's men. But despite his size, he was still quite fast. He threw me into a car around the back of a mansion, and left me there before running off to fight two of Aro's men. The ones who were chasing us I assumed. I sat there dazed. What on earth was going on, how have I gotten myself into this mess. Oh right, it happened when Aro and his gang killed my mother, Renee. Phil, owed them some money for drugs and he was in hiding because he couldn't pay off his debt. So Aro decided to kill his wife Renee and his step daughter, me. I remember that day so clearly, Phil came home from baseball practice absolutely freaked out. He packed a bag and told mum he was going away for a while. That afternoon five guys armed with guns, broke our door down and shot mum, no questions asked. I stood there mortified, crying my eyes out. They turned their guns on me, and I just cried. But Aro, I guess he saw something he liked. He walked towards me and touched the left side of my cheek, caressing me gently.
"I'm sorry you had to see this, if you come with me and you keep quiet, I can make the pain all go away, if you don't we have to kill you, and you wouldn't want that would you? Sweet Isabella," he whispered in my ear. I thought hard about it, and shook my head, I didn't want any trouble, and I didn't want to die. "That's a good girl, follow me my sweet," he said taking my hand in his. He whisked me away in his lavish limousine, and when we got to his mansion I met all of his staff. And his wife. Her name was Jane, and I thought she would hate me, given the circumstances, Aro wanting me for his self-pleasure and what not, but she didn't. She took me outside into the garden and sent Aro away.
"What happened, what did he do?" Jane asked me gently, taking my hands in hers. I told her what had happened, how they killed my mother in front of me, and then made me come with them. She stroked my face, wiping the tears that fell from my eyes. "Be strong Isabella, it will take you some time to work through your pain, but from now on, I want you to cry alone, if you feel sad, hide and feel that pain on your own, or you can come and be with me, and we will work through it together. You're a beautiful young lady, and that will get you far in this world. I will help you be whatever Aro wants you to be, to protect you. They call me cunning, daring, and I plan to take over Aro's gang when he dies, which he will its inevitable. I have no love for Aro, I do not care for him. He must see something in you, which is why I must protect you. I started out in this world the same as you. Aro's father's thugs killed my entire family, and his father kept me as his personal servant until he married me off to his son, future leader of the gang, young Aro. I was a gift to Aro after he made his first territorial kill. We wedded, but I felt nothing for him. I secretly took birth control so that I may never bear a child of Aro and his father's blood. If anyone was going to take over this business, it would be me, and I would never want to bring a child up in this monstrosity of life. There is too much death for an innocent to see. You, Isabella, were too innocent to see what you did. Eighteen years of age, and he wants to keep you as his, well I will protect you at all costs my dear. You will be free someday I promise." Jane was kind, which was so different to the men who ruled over her. But I listened and I vowed to do whatever she said to keep myself alive and to be free.
Over the coming weeks I spent most of my time under Jane's wing. Aro allowed her to transform me into the desirable woman they all wanted. I had my own room in the mansion, and Jane often visited me late at night. We would cry together and remember what life was like before all this. She was the only person in here I trusted. After three months of training and makeup etc. I was brought before Aro to seek his approval.
"My young Isabella, what a treasure you are, I must owe this all to my darling wife who was once just like you," he said giddily. Jane hid her anger and smiled onwards playing the part of a forever grateful mobster's wife. I smiled graciously at Aro, and thanked him for his kind words. He whisked me away to the gardens where I had once sat with Jane, and he told me all about his plans for a truce with his biggest rival gang, the Cullens. They were a vicious gang led by a golden haired man named Carlisle. I listened to Aro as he went on about how bloodthirsty they were, and how in order to enact his plans to annihilate the entire gang, he needed to throw a lavish party, complete with a poker game, in which he planned on killing every Cullen gang member in that room. The thought of so much death rattled me. After our walk, Aro kissed me gently, and sent me on my way. His lips on mine, I was disgusted. But I did what I had to do. Later that night I was visited by Jane. She asked me what Aro spoke with me about and I confided in her. She told me that the Cullens were led by the most beautiful man she'd ever met, and that although she was wildly attracted to him, he never felt the same, and she understood that. Jane explained that he was once married to a kind woman named Esme, but Aro ordered his men to kill her, and Carlisle had been livid, out for revenge ever since. The thought of a man so distraught after his wife had been killed, didn't scream 'bloodthirsty animal' like Aro had tried to say. He sounded, lost. Jane told me that Aro needed time to plan his party, at least three months. Which was three months too long of continuing to be Aro's prize. I cried softly and Jane took me in her arms.
"Hush now Bella, he will hear you," Jane said softly cradling me. I had so many overwhelming feelings, I didn't want to be here anymore.
"Maybe things would be easier if Aro had of shot me. Then I wouldn't have to see any of this." I whimpered. Jane held me closer to her, and sighed.
"If you died I never would have found my reason to keep fighting. Before you came here I had given up on ever avenging my family. You gave me hope Bella, I'm ready to take what's mine." She said happily. She placed her hand on my cheek, and brought my lips to hers. I was shocked. And she must have been able to tell, as my body tensed up immediately.
"What are you doing Jane?" I asked gently, I didn't want to upset her I was just confused. I had never kissed a woman before.
"I feel many things for you Bella, I have been stuck in a marriage to a man I've never loved, but when you came here, I've felt more for you in a few months than I ever have with Aro. Do you feel the connection as well?" She asked me softly looking into my eyes. I felt something for Jane, but it was confusing given the circumstances, she was my captive's wife.
"I do feel something, but I've never felt anything for a woman before, it's all so new to me, so confusing, and your Aro's wife what if he found us?" I asked. Jane looked at me thoughtfully and kissed me again, this time I relaxed into the kiss and let my feelings take over.
"Aro will never hurt you, he feels for you the way I feel for you Bella, but he's not here he went for a drive earlier," she whispered into my ear. I looked into her eyes, there was so much warmth there so much desire, but there was also pain, she felt the way I felt. I placed my hands on Jane's waist, and pulled her to me. Our mouths crashed on one another's. She smiled through kissing and I felt her joy and lust all at once. She kissed down my neck, and to my chest. She pulled my nightgown off and kissed my chest. I moaned softly as her lips met the soft peaks of my breasts. She took one nipple between her lips and suckled gently. I removed her clothes and she straddled me. "You're so beautiful Bella," she whispered in my ear. I kissed down her neck, and she shivered breathlessly. Her lips found mine again and her hands wandered down to my heated centre. She teased me softly with her fingertips before plummeting her finger into my wet core. I cried and she slammed harder making me moan even harder. I suckled her breasts and she let out a gentle moan. She fingered me hard and fast making me orgasm over and over again. But our pure bliss was cut too short. Aro burst through the door and pushed Jane off me. I covered myself quickly with my blanket.
"How dare you touch her?" Aro spat at Jane. My fear skyrocketed and I drifted further under the blanket trying to hide.
"I knew you'd hate it if I touched her, the way you want to touch her," Jane said to Aro with a conniving grin. I felt somewhat used, had she been lying to me? telling me what I wanted to hear, so she could taunt Aro.
"She is mine and only mine Jane, never touch her again. No speaking, no looking at her nothing. Clear?" He asked her gruffly.
"Crystal, but just so you know Aro, she feels amazing," Jane laughed as she threw her clothes back on.
"You, were using me Jane?" I asked softly trying not to cry. "But I …" I stopped short as Jane looked at me. It was the look she always gave me when she wanted to hold my emotions in.
"No Bella, I would never," she said softly, smiling.
"What did I say about speaking?" Aro yelled at Jane, "And Bella? Her name is Isabella, she will never go by Bella," he finished. Aro marched Jane out once she was dressed and moved her from his room to her own room. He put her under watch to ensure she didn't come anywhere near me.
One month later I saw Jane once more, we had a conversation in which she apologised for what happened that night. She told me that whilst she hadn't been touched in years and what we did felt good, she didn't want to endanger my life. She told me we could never be anything. It hurt to be cast aside by the one person I trusted in this whole place but I understood why. We stole a few kisses before saying our goodbyes, ending our brief fling. From then on, I was incredibly lonely. I met with Aro most days, and we often kissed, but it never eventuated, because he could sense my indifference to him. He told me each time I pulled away from him, that he would work hard to gain my affection, and that he loved me. Hearing him say he loved me, felt so, wrong. I felt nothing for him, and I just wanted to be free. But he was under a very odd impression that the harder he tried the more inclined I would be to fall for him in due time. But you can't force love. As the days dragged by in the lead up to the dreaded party. I prepared myself to be flaunted. To be shown around like a fluffed up dog in a show. And I hated the idea. But the night of the party changed my life. When I saw him, my heart absolutely soared. Carlisle. He was a golden haired man, with deep blue eyes. He was immaculately tall, and solidly built. He wore a deep navy blue suit, and all the women had their eyes on him. Even some of the men. Just to look at him was to feel immediately aroused. Jane wasn't lying when she said he was the most attractive man. He was the most utterly beautiful man I had ever seen. And his presence took my breath away. The events after our small encounter, played out, and Carlisle somehow beat Aro in poker, winning a single prize, me. And before I know it a large man scooped me up and threw me into a car. Now you know about my life for the past few months, but the months to come, changed absolutely everything. And I mean everything.
