The Valentine's Day party for the young ones was on the way. Nova distracted the kids by having them make cards for each other like in an elementary school classroom of handing out valentines to each other and they would be having their party soon. She walked by as she kept an eye on the young ones as they were being creative in their own special way, smiling brightly as she hoped to become an arts & crafts teacher in Storybrooke, but this would just have to do for now since she denounced her fairy title to be with Grumpy and Dee Dee as she knew that they would all live happily ever after together.
"Whatya think, guys?" Carlos asked as he began to finish up his cards.
"That's great, Carlos!" Evie smiled.
"We're gonna love 'em." Jay added.
"Yeah, I put lots and lots of sparkles on one special one," Carlos nodded before he stood up and looked around his table. "Where'd I put Jane's card?" he then wondered before bending down and looking around for it.
Jay chuckled a bit once he saw the card on the black-and-white haired boy's backside.
"I see it!" Evie told Carlos with a giggle.
Carlos soon stood back up and still looked around, feeling confused and oblivious.
"No! Behind you!" Jay told Carlos out of amusement.
Carlos tried to look behind him, but kept missing the card much to his confusion.
"No! On your back!" Evie told Carlos, trying not to laugh too hard.
Carlos soon looked over his shoulder and finally found the card. "Oh. There it is," he then said before he removed it and held it in his hands with a bashful smile. "I can't wait to hand these all out."
"Yeah! My valentines look so good I'm giving one to me." Evie then said before showing a card for herself with her own name on it.
"Very creative, Evie." Nova smiled and nodded at that.
"Thanks, Miss Nova." Evie smiled back at that.
"When will the party start?" Jay asked hopefully.
"Very soon, my dears. Very soon," Nova replied and nodded. "Queen Snow White and King David Charming want to make sure everything is perfect for you all."
"Oh, I'm sure it will be." Ben spoke up as he sat with Audrey who just gave him a dreamy smile.
Meanwhile in the kitchen, Snow began to count the heart-shaped and pink frosting covered cookies that were baked for the party while Happy stood by with his usual jovial smile. "15, 16, 17..."
"Good day, my dear Snow." David greeted as he came to his wife with a rose for her.
"Hello," Snow smiled at him as she continued to count the cookies. "18, 19, 20! Hmm..." she then stopped as she saw a busted-up cookie and frowned a little. "They must've broken this one lifting it off the cookie sheet. Should I put it in anyway?" she then wondered with a playful smirk.
"If there is one thing I can't bear to see, it is a broken heart on Valentine's Day," David replied dramatically before he took the cookie and decided to eat it. "Mm... Any more broken ones in there?" he then asked hopefully.
"No," Snow giggled in amusement. "The rest are for the children at their party."
"Aww..." David pouted.
Snow giggled before she looked at the dwarf by the cookie pile. "Thank you, Happy. I'm sure that the children will love them." she then said to him kindly.
"Consider it my pleasure, Snow White," Happy nodded. "After all, we dwarves helped you, you helped us, and now we can make our descendants happy... even if Doug doesn't wanna be like the rest of us."
"Well, Doug's just like his mother, he's one of a kind, but you can still love him through his eccentric behavior." Snow replied.
"Yeah, that's true." Happy agreed.
They soon heard the ringing of the clock as it was about time for the kids to come together for their party.
"Oh! We're running late." Snow said as she soon closed the cookie box.
David then stepped in to help out Snow so that they wouldn't be too late to help out the kids in their festivities. The kids were also getting ready in their own way, especially the girls with getting their hair done and being given special new dresses with help from Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather. Flora and Merryweather at first argued about whether to give Audrey a pink or a blue dress, but Flora had won that round due to the daughter of Sleeping Beauty's favorite color preference, but reassured Merryweather that Ben would be wearing blue himself.
"This is going to be the best dance ever," Amalie smiled peacefully. "It's like our lives are a fairy tale come true."
The others then gave her a bit of a look before looking at each other and then back at her.
"Uh, Amalie? Our lives are fairy tales come true." Evie reminded the perky blonde girl.
"Oh, uh, I knew that, I was just saying." Amalie giggled bashfully.
"Are you going to dance with anyone, Amalie?" Audrey asked with a small smirk. "I'm going with Benny Boo of course."
"Hmm..." Amalie frowned a bit.
"What's wrong? There's no need to be jealous~" Audrey smirked at Amalie.
"Oh, it's not that, but I'm not fully sure if he's the one for you." Amalie shrugged.
"Don't be silly, Amalie," Audrey scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Ben chose me over Mal after all and you thought that they should live happily ever after instead of me and him."
"Hm..." Amalie frowned thoughtfully.
"Are you okay, Amalie?" Evie asked as she came up to the perky girl in concern. "You're not heartbroken that Ben and Audrey are going out, are you? I mean, even Kiara is gonna hang around with that boy Kovu tonight and he used to be a Lost Boy." she then added.
"No, it's not that, it's just that I know that Ben and Mal are meant to be together forever after and not Ben and Audrey," Amalie told the blue-haired girl calmly. "Who knows true love better than me?"
"You do have a point there, Amalie, but Mal's gone, remember?" Evie reminded the perky blonde girl. "Ben is happy with Audrey anyway and Audrey is definitely happy with him."
"I guess so..." Amalie frowned a little.
"Try not to worry about it," Evie coaxed. "I know... Mal's gone, Emma and Henry are gone, and we have to put up with The Wicked Witch of the West, it's been rough and crazy for us all, but I know that we can all get through it."
"Yeah... maybe I'll just try to think about the dance... After all, Valentine's Day is the most wonderful time of the year for me," Amalie replied softly as she sighed and thought about the wonders and amazing things about the heart-filled holiday. "Yummy chocolates, cute heart outfits, candy hearts, gifts, pink everywhere, Valentines, flowers, and cupcakes!~"
"Yeah, I figured you'd be excited after getting your birthright jewel that long time ago," Evie nodded. "Do you have a date at least?"
"Hmm... I don't think so," Amalie shrugged as she smiled anyway. "We'll see what happens, but I don't need a date to be happy even if Ben and Audrey are going out together."
"You're sure that isn't bothering you?" Evie asked calmly to check.
"Positive," Amalie nodded. "Like they once said, 'It was better to have loved and lost than to have never loved before'."
"That's very mature of you, Amalie, as long as you don't spend the dance being sad." Evie smiled softly.
"I won't, Evie, and you won't be either." Amalie replied before winking knowingly.
"Huh?" Evie blinked. "Do you know something that I don't know?" she then wondered.
"I wouldn't wanna spoil the surprise~" Amalie said innocently.
"Aww... come on... please?" Evie asked innocently. "You're the future Guardian of Love after all."
"Sorry, but I don't kiss and tell~" Amalie giggled. "Maybe you, but not me."
"Hmm..." Evie smirked. "Well, I admire your dedication at least."
The two girls then giggled together.
"Excuse me, dears," Fauna spoke up as she flew by with a small smile. "Your dresses are ready."
"Thank you, Ms. Fauna." Amalie and Evie smiled at that.
Fauna smiled back before she flew away again, leading the other girls out of the room to go and try on their dresses for the evening that were made especially for them.
"I know who your true love is destined to be at least." Amalie told Evie.
"Yeah? Who is it?" Evie couldn't help but ask.
"Someone you might least expect." Amalie smirked and winked.
"Darn it, Amalie. You're cruel sometimes." Evie smirked back before she yelped and ran right into someone.
"Oh! Watch out!" Amalie gasped and cupped her mouth but it was already too late for the bluenette girl.
Doug and Evie groaned as they fell on the floor together.
"Oh, man... I'm sorry..." Doug groaned and complained as he began to wave his hand around since his eyes were squinting a bit. "In bowling, I think that's called a strike."
"Yeah, I believe you're right," Evie replied as she gave the boy his glasses back. "Here you go, Doug."
"Thanks, Evie," Doug replied as he accepted the glasses and soon put them on. "Oh, uh, nice robes, girls... are you gonna wear those to the dance? Because it looks more like you're gonna have a bathtub party." he then asked bashfully.
"No, Doug, we were just given fairy spa treatment." Evie giggled.
"Yes, we're going to get our dresses on right now, so if you don't mind... we better go see Ms. Flora and Ms. Merryweather." Amalie added as she then put her arm around the blue-haired girl.
"Oh, uh, very well then, see ya..." Doug chuckled sheepishly and waved them off.
Evie and Amalie smiled at him as they soon continued off into the other room along with the other girls who were being looked after by Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather right now.
"You're gonna have a bathtub party?" Doug repeated what he said as a joke before face-palming himself. "Ugh... I might as well change my name to Dorky to blend in more with my dwarf ancestors." he then murmured and shook his head before leaving the hallway to go do something else in the meantime.
The boys had also gotten ready. At first, no one was sure what to do until David checked his and Snow's closet and he found plenty of old prince clothes probably from when James was young until David replaced him after being a pauper with their mother for most their lives. Some outfits had to be modified with fairy magic and of course, Doug was given a green suit with a purple bowtie that his father Dopey highly recommended and it was now about time to get set for the dance and everyone just hoped and prayed that they wouldn't be given a surprise strike from The Wicked Witch for the sake of the children.
"Oh, Evie, you really look like a princess tonight." Regina smiled warmly at her daughter.
"Thanks, Mom." Evie smiled back as she twirled around in her black and blue dress and even had a silver tiara on her head.
"You're going to be the bell of the ball, I just know it." Robin told the bluenette girl kindly.
Regina smiled warmly at him for that.
"This corsage is also for you, Evie." Robin then said as he took out a dark blue rose and pinned it to her dress.
"Wow! Thanks, Robin." Evie beamed at him.
"And please allow me to escort you to the dance." Robin the offered as he bowed to The Evil Princess, taking her hand.
"Thanks, Robin. I think I would like that very much." Evie nodded.
"Have fun, dear. Go earn yourself a happily ever after at the dance." Regina smiled.
"Thanks, Mommy~" Evie smiled back as she began to follow the outlaw to go and join her friends at the dance.
"Don't let her get hurt or it's off with your head." Regina whispered firmly to Robin.
"You sure are your mother's daughter, Your Majesty." Robin muttered at that as he continued to take Evie to the dance.
"Hm." Regina rolled her eyes at that.
Soon, Evie and Robin made it over to the party to see everyone else was there and everyone seemed to have their own date. Robin told Evie that he would come pick her up later so that she could get some sleep and told her to have fun as he tried to act like a father figure to the blue-haired girl like how Regina acted like a mother figure to his young son during that Flying Monkey attack.
"You're holding my hand all wrong and that suit doesn't match my dress!" Audrey was heard complaining to Ben. "I thought I told you to get me purple flowers! And what about blah, blah, blah?"
Ben sighed and rolled his eyes as he began to feel unsure about dating Audrey. Evie sighed as she began to feel all alone.
"Evie! Over here!" Amalie soon called out and waved to the blue-haired girl.
Evie looked over and smiled as she stepped over to the punch table where Amalie currently stood with Carlos and Carla. "Wow, Amalie. This really is an excellent party." she then commented.
"I had some help from Gil," Amalie nodded. "He really is a good friend."
"I think he might wanna be more than just friends with you though." Evie replied softly.
"Uh, erm, maybe so...?" Amalie chuckled bashfully and shrugged a little.
"So who's deejaying tonight?" Carla wondered.
"Piper of course," Amalie explained. "He's the son of The Pied Piper after all."
"Yo, what's up, my mice?!" Piper called out from the center of the room with a horn instead of a microphone due to being in the primitive Enchanted Forest and not the modern Storybrooke town. "Ready for me to drop some-crush worthy tunes?"
The crowd beamed and cheered in response.
"Then follow me!" Piper told them before he played his trademark instrument, still using it for good of course after refusing to help Peter Pan with it to take over Storybrooke to turn it into a new Neverland.
A few mice even came out onto the dancefloor and began to dance with the young ones. Evie sat in the corner and sighed a little as she felt a little left out and even saw that Chad appeared to be busy with a lot of fangirls who just wanted to hear him talk about how amazing it was to be the son of Cinderella and King Charming.
"This was a really dumb idea," Evie groaned as she began to feel left out and sad. "I'm going to call Robin or Mom."
"H-Hi, Evie." A mysterious voice soon called.
"Oh," Evie blinked as she looked up to see that she had someone's attention. "Hi, Doug."
"Why aren't you dancing, Evie?" Doug asked softly.
"Because I don't have a date." Evie admitted.
"But you're the prettiest one here!" Doug told her with a blushing smile.
"I am?" Evie asked him out of surprise.
"I wanted to ask you to the dance myself, but I was sure you had already been asked." Doug explained bashfully.
"Really?" Evie asked.
"I think you're greet, Evie." Doug then said.
"You do?" Evie asked.
Doug smiled and nodded as he looked very serious about that. "Would you like to dance, Evie?" he then asked as he offered his hand to her.
"Thanks, Doug," Evie replied as she took his hand. "I'd like that a lot."
Piper began to play a very slow song as Doug and Evie joined each other on the dance floor, holding onto each other while everyone else had their own private moment together. And hand in hand, on the edge of the sand, They danced by the light of the moon, The moon, The moon, They danced by the light of the moon.
Later, the dance had winded down, especially since Amalie ate too many sweets such as the cookies that were made by the dwarves and the heart-shaped cakes.
"Ready to go, Evie?" Robin asked the bluenette girl kindly.
"Yep!" Evie nodded as she followed him over to her bed chamber.
"So, how was the dance and party?" Robin then asked her.
"It was good." Evie said.
Robin nodded, though he looked like he wanted to know a bit more. "Well?" he then prompted her.
"Well, what?" Evie asked him out of confusion.
"Did you kiss anyone?" Robin asked.
"Ewww!" Evie grimaced at that. "If I kissed a boy, he would probably turn into a frog! A boy has to kiss you first."
"So, did you kiss him?" Robin then asked.
"I think that's a need-to-know basis," Evie smirked. "Tell me when you kiss my mommy and then we'll talk."
"Hmm... I can tell you and your mother are going to be very interesting people in my life." Robin remarked as he continued to take her back home after a rather eventful evening.
Someone was watching the kids in the distance and disappeared while following Amalie as she was on her way to bed. However, once Amalie got into bed, after a little while, she came to the door to see what was going on.
"Hello? Is anyone there?" Amalie asked as she opened her door only to see that no one was there until she looked down and blinked in surprise. "Huh?"
There appeared to be a book on the floor with a white rose on top of it. She picked up the rose and sniffed in curiously before she saw the book and there appeared to be a sparkling pink jewel on the front cover as she looked at the title. "'The History of Valentine's Day'?" she then read aloud before opening the book and saw a note written on the first blank page. "'Dearest Amalie, I regret to inform you that we cannot meet yet, but you must achieve your destiny as the next matchmaker of The Fairy Tale World as my daughter. I will explain more when the time is right and I know your true heart will blossom along with everyone else you know and love in your social circle after the spell is broken again. I wish you a lot of luck in the future and I can't wait to meet you again. From Cupid'," she then read before murmuring softly. "...Papa?" she then wondered.
