Chapter 8: Start of the Fighting Tournament
Mario and Midoriya were walking back to the center of the stadium when Mario noticed the girls glaring at Kaminari and Mineta.
"Oh, mamamia. What did those two do now?"
Mario said in annoyance. He walked over to Peach to ask her about it.
"Hey, Peach."
"Hmm? Oh, hey Mario."
"So, what's going on? Why does it look like you're preparing to lynch Kaminari and Mineta?"
"We probably should for what they tried to pull."
"What did they do?"
Flashback
Peach and the rest of the girls from 1-A were relaxing around a table in the lunch area. That is when they were approached by Mineta and Kaminari.
"Why hello there you lovely ladies."
"What do you two want, Kaminari?"
"No need to be so hostile, Jiro. We just came to give you a message from Aizawa."
"Huh? What message?"
"Well you see, it turns out all the classes are putting on some kind of performance for the crowds."
Mineta explained.
"Huh? Performance?"
"That's right Peach. All the classes are doing it. To show support for U.A.."
"Ok, and what are the other performances, Mineta?"
"Oh, um, I think that general studies dressed up as the teachers, the support course showed off their tech and 1-B did a small dance number."
"Ok, and what is our show supposed to be?"
Mineta and Kaminari smirked at each other before they turned to the girls.
"Cheerleaders!"
They both exclaimed. The girls were shocked by this.
"C-Cheerleaders?"
Jiro asked in confusion.
"That's right. That's the show Aizawa decided on. We are at a sports festival after all. What better way to show support than a group of U.A. cheerleaders."
"But why didn't Aizawa tell us this, Kaminari?"
"Because he was too busy Yaoyorozu. He was dragged into being a commentator by Present Mic after all."
"That's right. We were just lucky enough to catch him in passing. That's when he told us this."
"I see, thank you, Mineta. I'll get started on-"
"Hold on Yaoyorozu."
Peach said, stopping Yaoyorozu in her tracks.
"But Peach."
"Just wait a minute. Let me get a few things straight."
Peach turned to face Kaminari and Mineta.
"So, Kaminari and Mineta, you're saying that Aizawa told this event to you two and not to me? The class representative, correct?"
"W-W-Well, we just got lucky enough to come across him is all."
"Right, Kaminari. Also, you're saying that Aizawa, the same Aizawa that said, "I won't waste time on pointless ceremonies." on the first day of school, told you this, correct?"
"Y-Y-Yeah, what's your point?"
"Okay, Mineta. The same Aizawa that we all heard through the intercoms say he would nap after the cavalry battle. Correct?"
Both boys stood there, starting to sweat nervously, while the girls were getting visibly angrier.
"I think you're lying."
"No, Peach, you got it all wrong. You see, we, um. Oh, Aizawa! Please explain to the girls what you told us."
Kaminari said, looking to the other side of the room. The girls turned and saw no one there. When they turned back, they saw Kaminari and Mineta booking it down the hall.
"Damn, you, Kaminari! Damn, you, Mineta! Damn both of you, you little perverts! When I get my hands on you!"
Jiro yelled while shaking her fists at them.
"Forget it, Jiro, we'll get them later. They should be announcing the next event soon."
"Right, Peach. Good catch, by the way. We almost fell for their trap."
"Well, I just have a knack for catching lies. I get it from my father."
"He does own a successful hotel chain. He's probably had to deal with people lying to him to try and extort him for money or free rooms."
Yaoyorozu said as the girls went outside.
Present
"And that's what happened."
"Ah, I see. That makes sense. I can't believe they would try something like that here. It would have been embarrassing to dress up like that in front of all these people."
"I know, Mario. That's why the girls and I are plotting our revenge."
"Well, they deserve it."
Mario said in agreement. That's when he noticed Daisy and Luigi, and they both looked upset about something.
"Hey you two, what's wrong?"
"Well, you see, Mario."
Daisy started.
Flashback
Luigi and Daisy were walking through the hallway to enter the stadium. As they approached the exit, they saw a couple of their classmates waiting for them.
"Hey, there everyone! Here to wish us luck?"
Daisy asked. Monoma stepped out to address her and Luigi.
"Something like that. We're here to let you know that it's up to you to put Class 1-A in their place."
"What?"
"Yeah, ever since that break-in at the USJ Class 1-A has been in the center of the spotlight. And now, in the final event, most of the slots are filled by Class 1-A. You need to show that Class 1-B is just as great, no, even better than 1-A!"
Tetsutetsu said.
"Wow, okay then. Look, I get being competitive, especially since we're at the sports festival, but if I didn't know any better it sounds like you all hate 1-A."
Daisy said to the other students. They all looked at each other before turning back to Daisy.
"Not hate, but we cannot abide by their sinful and arrogant attitudes."
Shiozaki, a student with vines growing from her head said.
"Arrogant? How have they been arrogant?"
"Come on, Daisy. It's obvious from their attitude and how they carry themselves. Their egos have been inflated ever since the USJ."
"Really, Monoma? Then give me some examples."
"What? I mean, it's obvious from how-"
"Monoma examples, NOW."
"Um, well, that Bakugo brat. The way he acted when Tetsutetsu went to send our declaration. That is no way for a hero to act."
"Okay, I see your point, but it was just him. Did any other students act like that? In fact, from what I remember they showed that it was just him. If you are to judge the entire class from one bad egg, then Class 1-B would be just as bad because of Monoma."
"What!?"
The class said in shock.
"Now that's uncalled for."
"So is your attitude towards Class 1-A, Monoma. Now, call me crazy, but it sounds like you all are jealous that Class 1-A was attacked by villains."
The group was silent for a bit until Tetsutetsu spoke up.
"Not jealous that they were attacked, but of the attention they are getting."
"Are you serious, Tetsutetsu? What happened to them was a tragedy. They didn't want to be attacked by villains, they didn't ask to be attacked by villains. Luigi's brother, Mario, almost died. Did you think anyone wanted that to happen?"
The group was silent at Daisy's question.
"Who put this thought into your heads?"
The group stayed silent but turned to Monoma.
"Are you serious, Monoma?"
"I just-"
*BAM**CRACK!*
Daisy kicked the wall in front of Monoma, creating a large crack in the wall, to get him to shut up.
"No, not a word. Stay silent or else."
Daisy threatened. Monoma just nodded.
"And the rest of you."
Daisy said, addressing her other students.
"Shame on you. Shame on you for being jealous that 1-A had to deal with tragedy on their first week of school. And shame on you for letting Monoma convince you that it was justified. And Monoma, I don't know where this hate for 1-A comes from, but drop it already. Friendly competition is good but not this hatred and jealousy. We're all the same, young students striving to be heroes. There's no need for this. If people think Class 1-A is better, it's because of this right here. This immature and childish attitude. It's not what heroes or hero candidates do. Got that?"
The group, except Monoma, nodded in agreement and understanding.
"Good, be better guys. You can do better. You did make it into the hero course after all."
Daisy said as she and Luigi left. Once they were gone, the group just stood in silence.
"It's just because her best friend and Luigi's brother are in Class 1-A. That's the only reason-"
"Monoma, just shut up already."
Tetsutetsu said, shutting Monoma up.
"She's right. We shouldn't be jealous of them. They got dealt a shitty hand that day."
"To think of them as arrogant fools because of it. How sinful I am."
"We all let our emotions get the better of us, Shiozaki. We should make sure not to let that happen again. We are all striving to be heroes after all."
Shishida, a student with a beast transformation quirk, said. With that, all of the Class 1-B students, except Monoma, left for the stands. Monoma just stood there, left alone with his thoughts.
Present
"Wow, this Monoma sounds like a narcissist."
"He is Peach. I'm pretty sure he wanted to be in 1-A, but when he didn't get in, he adopted this desire to prove his class was better."
Daisy explained with Mario, Luigi, and Peach nodding in agreement. Midnight then took center stage.
"Alright, everyone! Now that the intermission is over it's time to announce the next event!"
Midnight gestured to the digital board. It began to spin through choices until it landed on,
"Fighting Tournament! How exciting, now the rules-"
"Excuse me!"
Mashirao Ojiro said, getting everyone's attention.
"I'm sorry for interrupting, but I would like to withdraw from the event."
"What!? Why Ojiro? This is a big chance for you."
"I know Midoriya, but my pride won't allow me to accept something I didn't earn."
"What do you mean Ojiro?"
Uraraka asked.
"It's that guy's quirk."
Ojiro answered, gesturing to Shinso.
"I don't know what it is, but one moment I'm speaking with him, and the next we won fourth place. I don't remember doing a thing."
"But still, just think about it Ojiro."
"I have Midoriya, and I've decided that I can't in good conscience accept a spot I didn't earn."
"I also would like to withdraw for the same reason."
Nirengeki Shoda of Class 1-B said as well.
"Oh, what prideful passion! So invigorating! Very well, Mashirao Ojiro and Nirengeki Shoda are out! To replace them, we will be taking two members from the fifth place team of team Bakugo."
Midnight explained. While they were deciding which members would compete, Daisy walked up to Shoda.
"Hey, Shoda, that took real guts to do that. Don't worry, we'll fight extra hard for you."
Daisy gave a thumbs up while Luigi gave a friendly and confident smile.
"Thanks you two. If anyone can win this, it would be one of you. Your quirks are amazing."
"Thanks, Shoda."
"You're welcome, Luigi. Just watch out for that Shinso guy. He asked me a question and when I answered everything went blank. I think that's how he activates his quirk."
"Right. Thanks for the advice."
After some debating it was decided that Bakugo and Kirishima would replace Ojiro and Shoda.
"Alright then, now that the replacements have been decided, I will explain the rules. They are quite simple, you fight with everything you got in the ring. You win by knocking out your opponent, forcing them out of the ring, immobilizing them, or getting them to admit defeat. Any questions?"
Nobody responded.
"Good, now to decide the bracket, our roulette will pick names randomly."
Midnight pointed to the digital board that was going through the names of the contestants.
"First match will be Izuku Midoriya versus Hitoshi Shinso! The second match, Luigi Mario versus Shoto Todoroki! In the third match, Denki Kaminari versus Daisy Saraslar! The fourth match will be, Tenya Iida versus Mei Hatsume! The fifth match will be, Yuga Aoyama versus Mario Mario! In the sixth match, Ochaco Uraraka versus Eijiro Kirishima! The seventh match, Fumikage Tokoyami versus Momo Yaoyorozu! And finally in the eighth match, Peach Toadstool versus Katsuki Bakugo!"
The crowd roared at the results, meanwhile, Bakugo glared at Peach.
"I'll get you back for embarrassing me in the cavalry battle cat shadow!"
"You can try Bakugo."
Peach responded with a smile. With the bracket decided, everyone went to the stands while the first contestants took their places in the ring. In the stands for 1-A, Mario sat next to Peach when Uraraka came up to them.
"So, how do you think this will go?"
"Well, Uraraka, it depends. From what Ojiro described Shinso's quirk is brainwashing. While that is a powerful quirk, it requires the person to respond for it to work."
Mario answered.
"Yeah, as soon as I spoke to him, that is where I lost my memory."
Ojiro said, adding to the conversation.
"So, as long as Midoriya doesn't talk to Shinso, he can win!"
"Correct, Ochaco. Let's hope Midoriya can do that."
Peach finished. Back at the fight, Midnight had just announced the start of it. It looked like Midoriya was doing fine, ignoring Shinso's goading. But then Shinso said something that Midoriya yelled back at him for. That was when the brainwashing took effect. Midoriya began to walk slowly to the edge of the ring.
"No! What is he doing!?"
"It looks like he's under Shinso's control, Ojiro. Shinso must've gotten Midoriya to talk somehow."
Mario explained.
"What!? That's exactly what he wasn't supposed to do!"
Ojiro said in frustration. They all watched as Midoriya was about to walk out of bounds. But then he stopped, and a gust of wind came from his fingers. Midoriya had somehow broken Shinso's control by flicking his fingers at one hundred percent. With his second wind, Midoriya rushed Shinso, making sure not to speak this time. All the while, Shinso tried to get him to talk. In the final moments, Midoriya managed to throw Shinso out of bounds. While the crowd cheered, Mario noticed the somber look Midoriya had toward Shinso. Mario managed to hear one of the last things Shinso yelled at Midoriya.
"It'll be so easy for you! You were lucky enough to be born with a heroic quirk!"
These words echoed through Mario's head. It was an unfortunate truth of the world. Some people were born with quirks that were impractical for hero work, and some had quirks that seemed villainous. Shinso's brainwashing, while it could be used for good, was a quirk most people would align with evil intentions. It seems both he and Midoriya had the same thought to want to help Shinso, but how? What could they say to him?
"You did great Shinso!"
Luckily they didn't need to say anything. Some of Shinso's classmates cheered for him and even pointed to a group of heroes who were discussing the benefits of Shinso's quirk and all the good he can do with it. These words were exactly what Shinso needed to hear as a new fire was lit within him. He then turned to say a few words to Midoriya and brainwashed him. Why? Who knows. Feeling confident that Shinso and Midoriya would be ok, Mario went to see his brother before the match.
"Hey, bro."
Mario had caught Luigi as he was leaving the waiting area.
"Oh, hey, Mario. What's up?"
"Just came to wish you luck."
"Thanks. But that's not all is it?"
"No, Luigi. It's Todoroki."
"You're not going to ask that I go easy on him now, are you?"
"No, Luigi, no. It's just..."
Mario began to explain Todoroki's history to Luigi. Everything he had been put through because of Endeavor. At the end of it all, Luigi had a serious expression on his face.
"Was it okay to tell me this, Mario? This is Todoroki's personal history after all."
"I didn't want to, but I want you to be ready. Endeavor is here in the crowd, no doubt to watch Todoroki, and now Todoroki seems angrier than usual. He may lash out at the next available thing."
"You mean me."
"Yeah, so just be ready for anything bro. I know you can handle him."
"Right, don't worry, Mario. I'll see you in the finals."
Luigi said waving to his brother while walking into the stadium. Meanwhile, with Shoto Todoroki, he was walking down the hallway when he saw his father, Endeavor, by the exit.
"You seem to be doing well using only half your power. But your ice has its limits and cannot bring you victory."
Endeavor said. Shoto just ignored him as he continued towards the stadium.
"When will you stop this pointless rebellion? All I've done is to help you, Shoto."
"Help me!? You've only helped yourself Endeavor! To try and make me the perfect tool to achieve a dream you never could!"
Shoto yelled at Endeavor. The two stared silently at each other for a few moments before Endeavor broke the silence.
"Be that as it may, your ice cannot bring you victory. It has been proven twice already. Once in the obstacle course and the second time during the cavalry battles, when you lost to those foreigners. If you had used your flames you could've triumphed over them."
"No, I will never use your power. I will win, using only mom's power."
"You will fail Shoto. Can't you see? You are my greatest creation, meant to achieve what I couldn't. You cannot run from this Shoto! You cannot run from your destiny!"
Endeavor yelled after Shoto as he continued towards the stadium.
"Alright then! Let's begin the second match of the tournament! It'll be a match between two of the strongest members of Classes 1-A and 1-B! Shoto Todoroki versus Luigi Mario! Are you two ready?"
Luigi nodded while Todoroki gave an emotionless nod.
"Alright, BEGIN!"
Midnight shouted. Luigi got into a fighting pose, but Todoroki just stood there.
"Um, are you okay Todoroki?"
Luigi asked, never dropping his guard. Suddenly, without warning, Todoroki unleashed a devastating ice attack. Creating a large glacier that could be seen from outside the stadium. Everyone stood in awe, shocked by Todoroki's power.
"Luigi, tell the truth. Can you mo-"
Midnight was interrupted as Luigi broke through the ice in his strength form.
"Cheap shot Todoroki. Now it's my turn!"
Luigi shouted as he transformed into his electric form and shot bolts of electricity at Todoroki. Todoroki put up an ice wall to defend himself. It blocked the attack, but before Todoroki could think of a counterattack, Luigi busted through the ice in his strength form again. He grabbed Todoroki and slammed him into the ground. As Todoroki bounced up, Luigi punched him away. Todoroki saw that he was flying toward the edge of the ring and made an ice wall to slide off of. As Todoroki slid back into the arena, glared at Luigi. Mario's words echoed in his head.
"No, I cannot lose. I will not lose! I will not use his power!"
Todoroki thought as he unleashed a wave of ice at Luigi. Luigi saw this and crouched down, putting all his power into his legs.
"I haven't done this since Smash Bros., but let's-a give it a try."
Luigi thought as he launched himself toward the ice wave, replicating his green missile attack. While it did shatter the ice, he was too far to reach Todoroki.
"Stupid move Luigi."
Todoroki thought as he prepared another ice wave. But then he noticed Luigi getting faster.
"What the?"
Todoroki said as Luigi crashed into and held onto him. Luigi had transformed into his fox form midway through his launch and increased his speed. As they were flying to the edge of the ring, Luigi began to spin into a spiral. When they were close enough, Luigi released Todoroki. Sending him flying out of bounds. Todoroki tried to stop himself by making an ice wall, but with the added spin momentum from Luigi, he found it difficult. Todoroki hit the grass outside the ring where he finally made an ice wall to stop himself.
"Luigi wins!"
Midnight shouted, trying to lift her ice-coated arm. The crowd was silent as they processed what happened. Todoroki had unleashed an ice attack that none of them believed Luigi could escape from. But he did and defeated Todoroki. Soon the crowds began to cheer and chant Luigi's name. Outside the arena, Deatharms, Kamui Woods, and even Mount Lady were still in awe at the giant glacier coming from the arena.
"So, a student managed to make that giant glacier?"
"And another student managed to escape and defeat the one who made the glacier."
Kamui and Deatharms said to each other.
"You know, I think I will put in a request to have those two be interns at my agency."
"Good luck, Kamui. I think everyone will want those two brothers. The Mario brothers are certainly something. I'd say they are the most likely to become the next number one out of the first years."
Deatharms said. Back in the stadium, as everyone cheered Luigi, Endeavor just stood there silently. Observing the match and his son.
"While it's shameful that you lost, now you know just how far your ice will take you Shoto. Now you know that you have to use your other side if you truly want to become great. And finally, you can walk the path of the mighty. I'll be waiting for you, Shoto."
Endeavor said to himself as he walked away. Back with Shoto Todoroki, he just sat on the grass, frustrated by his loss.
"So Mario was right. I cannot defeat him or his brother with just my ice. Does that mean I have no choice but to use his power? Am I nothing more than his pawn?"
Todoroki said while looking at his left arm. That is when Luigi came up to him.
"Hey, that was a great match Todoroki."
Luigi said, extending a hand for Todoroki. Todoroki, accepting his defeat, took Luigi's hand.
"No, it wasn't. I lost."
"Even so, that was an amazing first attack. If I didn't see it coming, I don't think I would've escaped."
"You were expecting it?"
"Not that move exactly but, um, my brother told me you seemed angrier than usual today and said you might lash out during our fight."
"I see. He was right. I'm sorry about that. There's just someone who I hate here today."
"Ah, that makes sense. Look Todoroki, if you ever have a problem you want to talk about, both me and my brother's doors are open. Maybe talking about your problems can help and we might have solutions you never thought of."
Luigi offered a hand of friendship to Todoroki.
"I, ah, I, I'll consider it."
Todoroki said hesitantly while shaking Luigi's hand.
"Such sportsmanship! You love to see it folks. Now we'll take a small break while we clear out this ice."
Midnight said as Cemontoss, a teacher who controls cement, got to work. Back in the stands, Class 1-A were shocked by the match and its results.
"Whoa, who knew Todoroki had so much power."
"I don't think any of us could beat that, but Luigi got out like nothing."
Sero and Sato said in awe.
"Well, he is Mario's brother. I guess it makes sense that he would also be able to beat Todoroki."
Kirishima said.
"Hah! That has nothing to do with it Class 1-A! That just shows how superior Class 1-B is!"
Monoma exclaimed over the wall separating Class 1-A and 1-B.
"Monoma."
Daisy said in a threatening tone behind Monoma.
"What did I say earlier?"
"Ah, Daisy! What are you doing here? Isn't your match next?"
"Hmm."
Daisy turned to Kendo, a student in Class 1-B whose quirk is to enlarge her hands.
"Kendo, make sure to give Monoma a good smack for me, and if he still acts like this."
"Right!"
Kendo said with a salute.
"Why!? I'm only-"
*CHOP*
Kendo knocked out Monoma with a quick chop to the neck. With that Daisy jumped off the stands and slid down the wall. Everyone watched as, when she was close enough to the ground, kicked off the wall and proceeded to hop toward the arena. She jumped in with Denki Kaminari waiting. The crowd cheered for Daisy's flashy entrance.
"Now that's how you make an entrance people! The third match is now underway! Are you two ready?"
Midnight asked, receiving nods from Daisy and Kaminari.
"Alright, let the match between Daisy Saraslar and Denki Kaminari begin!"
Daisy and Kaminari got into their fighting poses.
"You know." Kaminari started. "I really don't like fighting girls. It's not very gentlemanlike. So, how about after the match I take you on a date to make up for it!"
Kaminari said as he unleashed a wave of electricity at Daisy. Daisy just sneered at this, before she leaped to the side, avoiding the attack. Kaminari saw this and shot another wave of electricity at Daisy, but Daisy was too agile for him. She jumped and leaped over his attacks like nothing. All the while, closing the distance between the two of them. Once she was close enough, she charged at Kaminari. Jumping over his attack. When she was above him, she delivered a devastating axe kick to his head. When she landed, she continued with a kick to his gut. Daisy continued a kicking barrage against Kaminari, ending it with a roundhouse kick that sent Kaminari out of bounds and into a wall.
"Kaminari is out of bounds! The winner is Daisy Saraslar!"
Midnight announced. As the crowds cheered, Daisy approached Kaminari, who was lying on the ground in pain.
"That felt personal."
He whimpered.
"Well, you did try to trick my best friend into wearing a skimpy cheerleader outfit. That might have had something to do with it."
"Oh."
"Two things, by the way. One, this was just me. Peach is still planning her revenge. So, be ready for that."
Kaminari let out a whimper at that.
"And two, I would never date you. I already have a boyfriend."
Daisy said as she turned her head and left. Leaving Kaminari to be put onto a stretcher by the medical bots. The fourth match was, unfortunately, a joke. It was Mei Hatsume versus Tenya Iida and Mei had convinced Iida to wear some of her support gear. The rules stated that the support course could bring in their tech as long as they were the ones who made it, not that they had to be the ones wearing it, so it was allowed. Mei then turned the match into a commercial, advertising her tech to all the support companies watching. After it was over, Mei stepped out of the ring, having achieved what she wanted to do.
Midnight then declared Iida the winner, much to his embarrassment. With that out of the way, they moved on to the next match.
"Alright, time for the fifth match. Mario Mario versus Yuga Aoyama!"
Midnight announced as both boys entered the arena.
"Are you two ready?" Both nodded. "Begin!"
At Midnight's announcement, Aoyama began to shoot his naval laser at Mario. Mario avoided the shots fired at him by Aoyama.
"Oh dear, it doesn't look like you can approach me, Monsieur Mario."
"True, but I just have to bide my time Aoyama. You can't keep this up forever."
Mario said while dodging more of Aoyama's attacks. Frustrated by the fact Mario spoke the truth, Aoyama fired more beams. Hoping to hit Mario and knock him out of bounds. Unfortunately, he soon stopped as his stomach began to feel queasy. Taking advantage of this, Mario rushed forward and grabbed Aoyama by his feet. Mario then spun him around and threw him out of bounds.
"Aoyama is out of the ring! The winner is Mario!"
The crowd cheered as Mario went over to help Aoyama up and to the nurse's office for his stomach pains. The next contestants came into the arena soon after.
"The sixth match, Ochaco Uraraka versus Eijiro Kirishima! Are you two ready?"
Both Uraraka and Kirishima nodded.
"Begin!"
With that, Kirishima rushed toward Uraraka, intending to end the match early with a knockout. But Uraraka was evading every swing Kirishima took at her, just waiting for her chance. That chance presented itself when Uraraka ducked under Kirishima's haymaker. She touched his stomach, making him weightless, and pushed him toward the edge of the ring. Despite his best efforts, Kirishima couldn't do anything now that he was in the air. Once he was far enough, Uraraka deactivated her quirk and made Kirishima fall out of bounds.
"Kirishima is out of bounds! The winner is Uraraka!"
Uraraka was jumping up and down in joy. While Kirishima got up in defeat.
"Man, that stinks."
"It was a solid effort Kirishma!"
Mario said from the stands.
"You should be proud! You gave it your all like a real man!"
"Yeah, you're right Mario! Thanks!"
Kirishima walked over to Uraraka and offered a handshake. Uraraka took it in respect which the crowd cheered for. After that, Kirishima and Uraraka left toward the stands while the next contestants entered the arena.
"Now the seventh match, Fumikage Tokoyami versus Momo Yaoyorozu! Are you two ready?"
Tokoyami nodded, but Yaoyorozu was deep in thought.
"Begin!"
Midnight yelled, Yaoyorozu was caught off guard by this and barely had time to make a shield to block Dark Shadow's attack. She tried to think of a plan while defending herself from his relentless assault. Suddenly, he stopped. Not knowing what he was planning, Yaoyorozu prepared a counterattack when,
"Momo Yaoyorozu! You are out of bounds!"
Midnight yelled. Momo looked at her feet and saw one of them outside the ring.
"The winner is Fumikage Tokoyami!"
While the crowd cheered, Yaoyorozu walked back to the stands looking depressed. She barely had time to do anything and was defeated before she knew it.
"And finally the eighth and final match of the first round! Peach Toadstool versus Katsuki Bakugo!"
Midnight yelled as Peach and Bakugo entered the arena. As they stared each other down Bakugo revealed a feral grin.
"It's payback time cat shadow. I hope you're ready."
Peach responded with a giggle.
"Oh, Bakugo. You're so cute when you make empty threats."
This only infuriated the blond even more.
"Begin!"
Midnight yelled. Both contestants got into a fighting pose but didn't rush into battle. They just circled each other for a while. Suddenly, Bakugo charged at Peach with an explosion. Peach jumped to avoid the attack, but Bakugo aimed his other hand at her. That is when the Shadow Queen knocked Bakugo's hands away while Peach dove down with her claws. Bakugo detonated the explosion in his hands to avoid Peach's attack. Once on the ground, Peach sent the Shadow Queen toward Bakugo. Bakugo saw the shadow moving towards him and was ready. But Peach charged Bakugo and began to attack with claw swipes. Bakugo avoided them and tried to counterattack, but the Shadow Queen would come out to strike when there was an opening. She would strike and retreat into the shadow, never giving Bakugo enough time to hit her.
"Damn it."
Bakugo growled, annoyed at this dual attacking tactic.
"I've had enough of you!"
He shouted as he blasted himself away from Peach. Once he was far enough away he turned and aimed both his arms at Peach.
"Go to hell you damn furball!"
Bakugo detonated a large explosion aimed at Peach. Soon she was engulfed by it and the resulting smoke made it hard to see what had happened. Many thought that it was over and Peach was either unconscious or dead. But when the smoke cleared, Peach and the Shadow Queen were fine. Seemingly unaffected by the blast.
"What!?"
"Is that all Bakugo?"
Peach asked the bewildered Bakugo. Back in the stands.
"No way! How did she avoid that?"
Kirishima asked.
"She blocked it with the Shadow Queen. Duh."
"I don't think so, Jiro. If she did then shouldn't the Shadow Queen be smaller like back when she blocked Thirteen's attack?"
Asui explained.
"Then what did she do?"
Midoriya asked. While all of Class 1-A was trying to figure out what Peach did, Mario had a smile on his face.
"Looks like Peach took a page from Vivian's book."
Mario thought as he saw what had happened. Right before the blast reached them, the Shadow Queen pulled Peach into her Shadow to avoid the attack. Once it passed them, they came out, and thanks to the smoke, no one besides Mario knew what she did. Back to the fight, Bakugo was visibly enraged by this.
"No. That shouldn't be possible. How are you not dead yet!?"
"Oh, Bakugo, a lady doesn't reveal her secrets."
"Screw you!"
Bakugo shouted as he charged at Peach. Peach just leaned out of the way and scratched Bakugo's cheek as he flew by.
"Charging wildly now? Are you out of tricks already, Bakugo?"
Bakugo just got angrier and continued to try and attack Peach. But Peach avoided every attack with feline grace.
"You should calm down, Bakugo."
"Shut up!"
"This anger isn't helping you."
"I said shut up!"
Bakugo tried to land a left hook, but Peach jumped over Bakugo and grabbed his shoulders. Continuing her momentum she threw him to the other side of the ring. Bakugo stopped himself before he reached out of bounds and just glared at you.
"Screw you. Screw all you foreigners. You're not better than me. I won't let you be better than me!"
Bakugo shouted as he launched himself into the air. He began to use his explosions to create a spiral darting towards Peach.
"This is my strongest attack. HOWITZER IMPACT!"
Bakugo was closing in on Peach. Right as he was about to reach her, Peach jumped into the air.
"That won't-"
Bakugo said as he turned to aim his explosions at Peach. But she was already diving into him with her claws. Peach slammed Bakugo into the ground and, with a forward flip, threw him away. Bakugo corrected himself as he was thrown and stood to face Peach. But he couldn't see her.
"Where is she!?"
Bakugo didn't have to wait long as a shadow grew over him. He turned to see Peach pounce on him. Peach pinned his arms with her claws. Bakugo let out a scream of pain.
"Listen Bakugo, you need to stop with this attitude of yours already. You may have been the best at your previous school, but now you are surrounded by others who can match and surpass you. And that's okay, no one is perfect. We rise from our failures and become better because of them. You have so much potential and you are wasting it away with these childish tantrums of yours. Just look at Midoriya, he was at the bottom and is learning from every mistake to become a better hero."
"No, not him. I refuse to learn from a weakling like him."
Peach was taken aback by Bakugo's attitude towards Midoriya.
"Fine. Then stay a loser and a failure then. Farewell, Bakugo. Please think and learn from this experience."
Peach then threw Bakugo out of bounds with a front flip.
"Katsuki Bakugo is out of bounds! Peach is the winner!"
Midnight announced. While the crowds cheered, Class 1-A was debating about Peach's victory.
"Whoa. That was awesome!"
"True, Kirishima. But how did she do that?"
"What do you mean Tsu?"
"How did Peach dive down so quickly? When she was above Bakugo she just shot straight towards the ground."
"It's the Shadow Queen."
Midoriya answered, getting everyone's attention.
"What do you mean, Deku?"
Uraraka asked.
"It was brief, but while she was in the air, the Shadow Queen came out and made a small platform for Peach to launch off of."
"Wow, that's an advance technique."
"You're right Tsu. I wonder how long she practiced that and if she has more tricks up her sleeve."
Midoriya went into full nerd mode and began to write furiously in his notebook while muttering about Peach's quirk.
"Hey Midoriya, you're next."
"Huh? Oh, you're right Mario. Thanks."
Midoriya said. He then got up and left for the arena.
"So Mario, who do you think will win between Deku and your brother."
Uraraka asked.
"Well, Midoriya is my friend but I believe Luigi has got this. We train together, after all, so I know what he's capable of."
"I see, I'm still rooting for Deku!"
"I'm surprised Monoma hasn't said anything about the next match."
"That's because Daisy has him in a headlock."
"Really Shoji? How do you know?"
"Because I can hear it, Sero."
Shoji answered. Kaminari peeked over to see if he was right and sure enough, he was. Daisy had Monoma in a headlock to shut him up about Class 1-B superiority.
And that's the end of the chapter. Man, writing all the fights was tiring but exciting as well. I hope you like this, thank you for reading and please feel free to leave a review. And have a nice day.
P.S. Daisy's last name was inspired by her kingdom in the games since Nintendo didn't give her one.
