Vader or perhaps he is Anakin maybe he is neither, falls back as everything around him shifts. He looks around recognizing an imperial cell and he stands. On a metal shelf cruelly intended to be a bed sits Leia, his daughter. Swiftly he stands next to her. Looking on once more to ensure he was not seeing things.

"No," he can all but gasp.

The door slides open to reveal the dark shadow that is himself.

"Please no," he can't stop the sobs from leaving him now. "I understand, please. I can't."

There is a loud thud and he registers that he has fallen to his knees from the grief. A light touch on his shoulder causes him to jerk away. He looks up at his daughter who had set her hand on him.

"I'm so sorry," he says through his sobs. He mumbles out obviously too quiet for her to hear, "I am so sorry my sweet Leia. My daughter, oh what have I done."

"For what? I don't even know you, besides this is just a dream. A strange one at that," the last part so quiet he doesn't think he knows if that is what she said at all.

"This isn't a dream."

"Then what is it?"

"A Force vision."

"How could that be possible? No, it's not possible."

"It is possible."

Looking up at her all he can do is stand and hug his daughter. When he pulls away he sees the location around them is different.

Leia looks at the man in confusion what does he mean that this is not a dream?

"A Force vision," the man responds to her question about what this is if not a dream.

"How could that be possible," she asks in confusion. "No, it's not possible," she adds, not believing the man.

"It is possible."

What? She is losing it there is no way this is a Force vision. Only Jedi get Force visions, she is not a Jedi. She is pulled out of her thoughts by the feeling of arms embracing her in a hug. The mysterious man is the one hugging her. He pulls away, in her shock she didn't notice everything around them change.

"Who are you," she asks the man.

"I don't know anymore," is all the man responds with.

Looking around now to attempt to gather herself at the man's strange answer. They appear to be in an apartment on Coruscant, evident as the view out the window was of the Imperial Palace. A woman stands looking at the sunset, a version of the man that had hugged her standing slightly behind shrouded by shadows.

"Beautiful, isn't it," the other version of the man says.

The woman jumps startled, "Anakin!"

So the man's name is Anakin, why was he being so cryptic about his name?

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to startle you."

"No- no, it's all right," the woman tells the other version of Anakin. "I just- Anakin, you shouldn't be out here. It's still daylight…"

"I couldn't wait, Padmé. I had to see you." The other version of Anakin takes the woman into his arms. "Tonight is forever from now- how am I supposed to live that long without you?"

"But we're in view of a million people, and you're a very famous man. Let's go inside."

The two walk back into the apartment and they sit on the couch. The woman grabs the other version of Anakin's hand and puts it to her stomach.

"He keeps kicking."

"He? I thought you'd ordered the medical droid not to spoil the surprise."

"Oh, I didn't get it from Emdee. It's my… motherly intuition."

The other Anakin chuckles at this. "Motherly intuition, huh? With a kick that hard? Definitely a girl. But, if you are so certain it's a boy, do you have any name ideas?"

"Yes, as a matter of fact, I do," the woman says with a hint of teasing. "I like the name Luke, it usually means light in Naboo culture. This baby is the light of our future after all. Do you have a name if it's a girl?"

"There is a part of me that wants to say Shmi, but that's a bit too hard still."

"That's alright, Ani. Do you have any others?"

"Yeah, I do. Leia."

"Do you have a reason why or do you just like the name?"

"Well, there is this story that was told among the children slaves in Mos Espa. It was about a young slave girl who broke free and started to free other slaves. She was a symbol of strength and hope, we all hoped that one day she would free us. It was also said that she was as beautiful as the meadows told of in myths and as fierce as the most ferocious thunder in a storm of lightning."

The woman hugs the other Anakin and says, "that is beautiful, Ani. Did you know that Leia on Naboo use to be used as a name for a princess?"

"That makes it better because she is our little princess."

Leia stares confused, the man, Anakin said this was a Force vision. Why was she being shown this? Were these her birth parents? At the same time, however, the woman mentioned the name, Luke. Anakin looks a lot like her friend. Hell, Anakin Skywalker is Luke's father. She looks back at the version of Anakin next to her. "Who are you really?"

"As I said before, I don't know anymore," came the reply. "This is who I was, not who I became. I don't know if I am him, the person I became after, or someone else at this point."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"As I said."

Leia sighs at his response. "Fine, answer this then. Who are you to me?"

"That depends on you, Leia. Who do you think I am? Who do you want me to be?"

"I don't know, considering the conversation between you and that woman. I don't know what to think."

Vader stares at Leia as she questions him about who he is, he can only answer honestly. "As I said before, I don't know anymore. This is who I was, not who I became. I don't know if I am him, the person I became after, or someone else at this point."

"What is that supposed to mean," Leia questions him more.

"As I said," he would like to avoid that topic as of right now.

"Fine, answer this then. Who are you to me?"

"That depends on you, Leia. Who do you think I am? Who do you want me to be," the last question making his voice seem to get quieter.

"I don't know, considering the conversation between you and that woman. I don't know what to think."

"That is fair, you have seen a lot so far and are likely to be confused."

"Can you please just answer me? Without the riddles," she adds annoyed.

"I am answering the only way I can because I am confused about who I am at this point. So perhaps you are a piece of who I truly am, who I need to become. That is why I am asking you, I am aware of how wise you are," the truth comes pouring out of him. All he truly wants is family as he has always wanted, he just needs help to be with them. Again around them, everything shifts.

Sorry, this took so long to come out I had a lot of things to take care of and was slightly struggling with how to continue because there are so many ways it could go. I hope this part is enjoyable. If you have any suggestions, please feel free to leave them, I can always use ideas: it helps the story grow and gain new plot points and elements.
