Trina leads Spencer into the room to find Joss and Dex in each other's arms with tears in their eyes. Trina frowned at the sight, feeling confused.
"Joss? Dex? What's going on?" Trina asked, eyeing the couple wearily.
"Did you hurt her?" Spencer glared at Dex, not liking this at all. He couldn't stand Dex on a good day. It was Trina's hand on his chest that kept him from going to punch the dude out. "Why aren't you with my Uncle Sonny right now?"
"No, I did not hurt her and it's my day off. Not that it's any of your business," Dex glared. He really couldn't stand this guy. For some reason, Spencer Cassadine always had a problem with him. Even Joss couldn't understand it.
"Back off, Spencer. He's here because I want him to be," Joss frowned, glaring at her old friend. Then she looked at Trina and saw the tears in her eyes and she continued to glare at Spencer. "What did you do? Why is she crying?!"
"Spencer didn't do anything. He's not the one who upset me," Trina sighed, settling down on her bed. "I'm sorry if we're intruding, but...we have nowhere else to go but here at the moment."
"Same for us," Joss sighed, hoping that Spencer and Dex would just stay at their separate corners for now.
"What's going on, Joss? We're best friends. You can tell me and Spencer will keep quiet too. Won't you Spencer?" Trina gave her boyfriend a pleading look.
Spencer just rolled his eyes and sighed. "Yeah. Of course."
"Fine," Joss swallowed, wiping away her tears. "Dex witnessed something horrible...and now he's going to have to go on the run away from Port Charles...or else he'll be killed."
Trina frowned. "What was it?" Trina wanted to ask if it had something to do with her Uncle Zeke, but she was too afraid of the answer.
"I saw Selina Wu murder Gladys Corbin...and unfortunately she and her henchman saw me…"
"And you came here?" Spencer glared at his Uncle's employee. "Way to go, man, you're putting Joss in danger!"
"Don't you think I know that? I was on autopilot when I came here! I just thank god that Selina and her men were unable to follow me. But I don't know how much longer that'll last. Sooner or later, they'll be coming here to look for me."
"Putting Trina in danger."
"Spencer, please. Stop," Trina's voice was pleading, but the fear was clear in her eyes. "This is awful. This whole night is awful." She grabbed her friend's hand and gave it a squeeze. "What are you going to do? He can't stay here. Spencer's right. It's not safe."
"I guess that we're just going to have to go on the run. Maybe talk to Sonny. He can put us up in a safe house or fly us to that island of his. Give us new names and a new life I guess. I hate it because it'll mean leaving you and my life here in Port Charles behind for good," Joss sniffed, really hating this, but she couldn't lose Dex, not when she had just found him.
Spencer sighed, hating the situation himself. He was no longer the only one in danger. Now Joss was thanks to this Dex person and now she was going to run out of his life. Just one more person that he was going to lose. Maybe it was a curse. All part of being a Cassadine. You can't be close to anyone.
"You guys should indeed talk to Uncle Sonny. I can call him and ask him to come if you want," Spencer offered, feeling like he should do something. For Joss at least. He didn't think anything could be done for himself.
"Spencer's right. Selina Wu is no one to be played with. I know that you hate him, Joss. But Sonny should know what to do about Selina," Trina nodded in agreement with Spencer's suggestion.
"What do you think?" Joss looked at Dex, who looked rather reluctant.
"I guess I have nothing else to lose. He can at least get me somewhere safe," Dex sighed.
"You and Spencer," Trina nodded in agreement, realizing that Sonny may be the answer to her problem as well.
"Spencer? What's going on with Spencer now?" Joss wondered. It seemed that Trina and Spencer had just gotten home from the danger they had been in from Spencer's crazy Uncle. Now that Victor was gone, things should be ok, right? The danger to both Trina and Spencer should be gone.
"Well...you know how Spencer had a crazy Uncle trying to kill us, right? Well, now, thanks to the woman formerly known as my mother, I have a crazy Uncle who is trying to kill Spencer. Ava overheard my mother ask my Uncle Zeke to kill Spencer and she just got through telling us about it."
"What?! But Portia seems so...sensible and good. Why would she do such a thing?" Joss's eyes widened in shock.
"Because she obviously hates the guy. Hate is a powerful thing. It makes normally good people do bad things," Dex answered the question.
"I can't believe she's doing this! She saw how happy Spencer makes me! It's like she can't stand me to be happy at all! She already took the certainty of who my father is away, and now she's gunning for my boyfriend! I don't even know what I did to make her hate me like this," Trina pressed her lips together as she felt her tears return.
Joss hugged her friend, her heart aching for her. She knew that her own mother wouldn't do such a thing. Carly may be overbearing and all, but she trusted Joss to make her own decisions now that she was of age. She didn't like Joss dating Dex, but she knew that was Joss's decision to make, not hers. Joss never felt more grateful for her mother than at that moment. "I am so sorry, Trina. I am. I didn't know that Portia was like that. What are you guys going to do? You can't hide out here for the rest of your lives."
"I don't know. I'm afraid Sonny would kill Zeke if we went to him...but where else can we go? What else can we do? Spencer can't even go back to his grandmother's now because that'd put her and Ace in danger! My freaking mother has ruined everything. I can't believe that I was even tempted to forgive her! I hate her now!"
"Trina," Spencer spoke up, hating himself for causing all of this between Trina and her family. It wasn't right. "Don't say that…"
"Why not? Because I do. I hate her for what she's doing to us! She's ruining our lives by doing this! I want to call my dad and tell him everything...but not until I know that you're safe and away from all of this."
"I say we call Sonny."
"But this is my mom's fault. I don't want him to kill my Uncle because of what my mother is planning," Trina shook her head.
"From what I've seen, Sonny is pretty reasonable. He'll probably talk to this Zeke guy. Make it known that going after Spencer is a bad idea and to drop it immediately. If anything, he can take Spencer somewhere safe."
"I'm not going anywhere without Trina," Spencer shook his head.
"Just like you're not going anywhere without me," Joss piped in, her own mind reeling with this new information.
"It looks like the four of us are in this together...at least for now," Trina sighed, feeling somewhat better. Somehow knowing that her best friend was by her side, she felt a little better.
Joss wrapped her arms around her friend. "It's going to be ok, Trina. We'll be like the four musketeers. We'll look out for one another."
Spencer pursed his lips, not saying anything. He couldn't stand Dex. Just standing here, not picking on the guy, he felt as if he was betraying Cam somehow. But Trina wanted him to behave, so he will. Besides, the guy had some pretty solid ideas for their situation.
"I'll call my Uncle Sonny. Have him come here. The sooner he knows about all of this, the sooner we'll have a solution to our problems," Spencer took out his cell phone.
…..
The couples were in separate corners. Trina and Spencer were cuddling on her bed, while Joss and Dex were cuddling in their own world on hers as they waited for Sonny's arrival.
Joss glanced over at Trina and Spencer, observing how Trina seemed so close to Spencer, it was as if she was trying to disappear inside of him somehow. Her wet cheeks from her tears told Joss that her friend was still crying over what her mother had done and how hurt she truly was.
"Poor Trina. I can't believe Portia is doing this to her," Joss quietly sighed. "I hope I can see her through this."
"She has him, it looks like," Dex kissed the top of her head.
"Yes, she does. But it's not the same. Sometimes a girl needs her BFF."
"She'll be ok. Just as long as they're together. I think that whole thing on the haunted star bonded them together so tight, they're unbreakable. I'm kind of jealous."
Joss frowned. "Of Spencer and Trina? Of what they went through because of Victor Cassadine?"
"Only because it fused them together so tightly. I'd love to be that close with you. To be so bonded…"
"You are. We do have a bond. Maybe not out of trauma and danger, but there is something that's bonding us together."
"Ah, so it wasn't the danger of Sonny finding out, huh?"
Joss rolled her eyes. "He didn't even care at all. I must say. I was kind of disappointed."
"You wanted him to kill me for falling for you?"
"No. I just wanted him to...I don't know. Be all...stern and at least act like he cared."
"I think he does...but like he said. He doesn't want to be the love police. And who can blame him? Trina's mom's the love police and look at what it's doing to her daughter. I have to respect Sonny for backing off like he did."
"Here you go again. Respecting Sonny."
"Why is that a problem? I mean, the man is going to be the reason we even have a chance to safely stay together. You should give him a little bit of credit, don't you think?"
"You don't even know if he'll even help us, Dex."
"I think he will. For his nephew's sake if nothing else."
"Huh?"
"Just let me talk to him, alright? You keep quiet."
Joss just rolled her eyes and said sarcastically. "Yes, master."
Dex frowned. "Don't be pissed."
"I'm not. I'm just tired. I'm sorry. It's just a long night and we're not at the end of it yet. I just hope that by the end of it, we'll still be together."
"We will be. I know it. I like you, Joss. I'm not leaving you, no matter what."
"Don't say that…"
"No matter what," Dex repeated, pulling Joss in for a kiss.
Meanwhile, Trina and Spencer were also lost in their own world.
"I wonder what Ace is doing. I hope he doesn't miss me too much," Spencer sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
"I am so sorry. I know how much you love him and want to be with him, but thanks to my mother you're here instead," Trina sniffed.
"There's nowhere else I would rather be. I want to be here with you, Trina. I'll be with Ace again, soon enough. I know that he's safe and that's what matters. Now I just want to concentrate on taking care of you."
"You always take care of me. Let me take care of you. You've been going through so much these past few months, and now this...it has to be taking a toll," She reached up to stroke his face with gentle fingers.
"Knowing that you're here with me helps. It helps more than you'll ever know."
Trina smiled and leaned in for a kiss when there was a knock at the door.
"Spencer? Joss? It's Sonny!" Sonny's voice followed the knock.
Spencer was out of bed and opening the door before Trina could stop him. His smile was bright as he saw his Uncle. "Uncle Sonny, thank god you're here. Come in!"
Dex and Joss immediately jumped off the bed as Sonny entered
"Why am I here?" Sonny asked, eyeing Joss and Dex warily.
"Well...our reasons are different, but we both need your help," Dex was the one to speak. "Have you heard from Selina Wu any time tonight?"
"No. Was I supposed to?" Sonny frowned.
"According to her, yes...but that might have changed now...since they know that I know what they did," Dex rubbed the back of his neck, watching Spencer as he went back to sit next to Trina after firmly closing the door behind Sonny.
"What do you know? Talk to me," Sonny folded his arms.
"I was out for a jog when I heard voices on the dock. I hid behind some crates and watched Selina Wu talking...threatening your cousin Gladys. Gladys seemed to owe Selina money. Selina mentioned wanting Gladys to spy on you, but she refused and tried to negotiate just for Selina to shoot her dead. She was going to have her man leave the body on your doorstep as a 'courtesy', but then a gust of wind knocked down the crates, revealing my hiding space. I took off running. I don't know how I got away, but I did, and...I was on autopilot, I came here…"
"Where my stepdaughter lives, putting her in danger," Sonny guessed, running his hand across his face in annoyance.
"That's what I said," Spencer spoke up and winced as Trina punched his arm.
"Shut up Spencer," His girlfriend gave an affectionate glare.
Dex just bowed his head, knowing that Sonny was right to be annoyed. "Right. I didn't mean to put Joss in danger...I wasn't thinking…"
"That's the problem. You don't think, man. How can I trust you if you don't think about your actions? You should have come straight to me and left Joss out of this! Now Selina will probably be gunning for her too! How am I going to explain this to Carly?"
"My mom will understand. Plus, she'll trust you enough to take care of this," Joss piped in.
"That's not the point. Anyway, I can't have you out and about. Selina will kill you if she catches up with you. I'm going to have you go into hiding until I take care of this Wu situation."
"How about Joss? She's in danger too, but she has a life here. School, friends…"
"That'll have to be put on hold for now, I guess. I can't have Ms. Wu gunning for her too, and she will to draw you out. I'm sorry, Joss but you're going to have to go with Dex here. I can put you up in one of the safe houses until I can get some documents for you and then we can figure out where to go from there."
Dex wrapped an arm around Joss, trying to comfort her. "I'm sorry about this, baby."
"No, this is what I want. I told you that. Where you go, I'll go. Just as long as we're safe and together," Joss smiled into his eyes and then looked at Sonny, trying to push back her dislike for the man. He didn't have to do this for her. He could just insist on Dex going by himself, but he wasn't doing that. He was keeping them together. Maybe it was time to let go of this silly resentment she had toward the man. "Thank you, Sonny."
"Well, you're family. I'm not going to let Selina Wu come after you."
Joss smiled, but the smile faded when she looked over at the other couple. "Dex and I aren't the only ones that need your help. Spencer and Trina are in trouble too."
Sonny turned to where his nephew was sitting with his girlfriend, his arms wrapped around her, both looking guilty. What had the kid gotten into now? "What's going on, Spencer?"
"It's my fault, not Spencer's," Trina sniffed, feeling guilty for all of this. After all, it was her mother.
"Trina, you're not responsible for your mother," Spencer sighed, wishing he could take her guilt away.
"She's doing this because of me, Spencer. Of course, it's my responsibility. She would never ask my Uncle to do this if it wasn't for me."
"What's going on?" Sonny frowned.
"My Uncle Zeke seems to be some kind of hitman now and my mother has him gunning for Spencer, at least, that's what Ava told us. Once my Uncle starts a job, he most likely won't stop. She did this all because she wants Spencer out of my life," Trina explained, feeling awful about everything.
"So you're in danger," Sonny sighed, feeling really really tired. "Ok, so you'll have to join Dex and Joss at the safe house until I figure out what to do with you and I can take care of this Uncle situation...what's his name again?"
"Zeke. Zeke Robinson," Trina wanted to cry, having a feeling that this might be the end for her cousin.
"Let me guess, you want to join Spencer in hiding too?"
"If it's at all possible?"
"Of course it is. Right Uncle Sonny?" Spencer looked at his Uncle hopefully.
"Sure. I don't see why not if that is what you want. You'll have to leave with these three right away. There's no saying goodbye to anyone. That goes for you too, Joss. You won't be talking to Carly again for a while."
Trina winced, realizing that she won't even get to talk to Curtis or Taggert again before leaving. She was hating her mother more and more. "I understand. Mr. Corinthos...can I ask for one more favor?"
"It all depends."
"Uncle Zeke is not unreasonable. He may not even want to do this but is doing so because it's his sister asking. He may back off if you talk to him. If you can just get him to back off without killing him...that would be awesome," Trina wrung her hands, feeling self-conscious about even asking.
Sonny simply nodded. "I'll find this guy and we'll have a conversation. Let him know whose nephew he's gunning for. See if that has an effect."
"Thank you," Trina sniffed, more tears leaving her eyes because she was again leaving her life behind for she didn't know how long.
"Trina...you don't have to go. You can stay here and keep going to school, keep living your life," Spencer frowned, seeing her tears.
"And no longer have you in it? That's not a life I want to live, Spencer! I want to be with you! I don't care what that woman says! I'm not going to let her ruin what we have."
Spencer felt tears in his own eyes as he stroked her face. "Are you sure?"
"Very sure. Where you go, I'll go."
