Happy Father's Day!
I do not own, nada!
Rafael and Violeta sat around the laptop in her room scrolling through the screen.
"Let's get dad a tie." Rafael said to his sister. He pointed to a tie that had #1 Dad stitched on it.
"Dad doesn't wear ties." Violeta reminded him scrolling through.
"How about a t-shirt?" He countered. "He wears t-shirts."
"Mom says he should stop wearing t-shirts now that he's an adult." Violeta reminded him.
"Cup? Hat? Book? Watch?" Rafael went down the list.
"Too many, don't use, don't read, keeps breaking them." Violeta shot down every suggestion.
"Well, shoot. That's pretty much everything." Rafael said glumly. Then he brightened. "How about we get him near headphones?"
"Mom got him one already." She sighed. "He also has all the music he likes. He has all the video games. I think we need to think about something else."
Rafael's face fell. He sighed. "Dad's so hard to get stuff for. For mom, you get her flowers and she's happy."
"Mom likes anything we get her. Dad will pretend and then it's in the back of his closet until mom donates them." Violeta said.
"Ugh, can we write him a card? Like write all the sappy stuff he likes to hear?" Rafael flopped onto his sister's bed.
"I mean we can, but I we're not 5 years old anymore." She turned away from the computer.
She walked over to her bed and flopped down next to him. They laid side by side quietly. A knock came from the door.
"Hey sweeties," The door opened slightly. Circe poked her head in. "Lunch is ready."
"Coming mom." Violeta answered her. "We're just finishing up."
"Is dad home?" Rafael asked his mother.
"No, he's out with Uncle Six. Do you need something?" She inquired.
"I was just wondering." Rafael said.
"Ok, wash up and come down to lunch." The door closed.
"Why do you want to know about dad?" Violeta asked.
Rafael shrugged. "Well, maybe we can ask mom what to get dad for Father's Day."
"Mom will just say to get him something from the heart or something cheesy like that." She answered.
"Yeah, you're right." He got up. "Let's go eat. I'm starving."
"You're always starving." She teased him.
"Yup." He didn't even deny it.
Circe noticed that the kids were quiet as they ate. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing." They said in unison.
Circe didn't say anything but didn't believe them.
"Hey mom, what did dad like when he was a kid?" Rafael asked.
"Like? What do you mean?" She asked.
"What did he do for fun?" Violeta chimed in.
Circe frowned, "He did typical kid things like play soccer, video games, and listen to music like The Trendbenders."
"Trendbenders? Eww, that's old people music." Rafael wrinkled his noise.
Circe chuckled. "Music tastes change. I'm sure your kids will think your music is old too."
"Are The Trendbenders still playing?" Violeta interrupted.
"Them? No, they've retired for a few years now." Circe said. "But their music is still pretty popular."
"Not to me." Rafael said.
"Rafael, are you done?" Violeta suddenly asked.
Rafael looked over at Violeta. He saw the look in her eyes. He wolfed down the last of his sandwich and gulped down his milk. "Done."
They got up. "Thanks for lunch mom."
Circe watched them run back upstairs.
"So, what's your idea?" Rafael asked.
"Here," She pointed at the screen. "I saw this but didn't think much of it."
Rafael looked at what Violeta was pointing at. His eyes lit up. "Yeah, let's get that!"

Rex was sleeping soundly when he felt eyes on him. He was startled awake. "Raffy? Violeta? What's up?"
"Happy Father's Day!" They said altogether. A tray of food was produced in front of him. This year the toast was not as burned, and the bacon looked cooked this time.
"You guys!" Rex smiled. He glanced at the time. It wasn't ungodly. His kids were learning. He reached for the coffee when he saw an envelope under the cup. Opening it up, it took him a second to realize what it was. "Wait, are theseā¦"
"Yeah, we got you and mom tickets to a concert with Leon from The Trendbenders." Violeta said.
"He started a new cover band called Bending Trends." Rafael shrugged. "The name is stupid, but they do covers of his old songs."
"Wow, thanks!" Rex got a far away look in his eyes. "Circe, look what the kids got for me." He shook his wife.
"No, I'm not eating the toast." She said still half asleep.
"Not that, look what the kids got me." He said excitedly.
She looked up groggily. "That's really nice, sweeties. Is that why you asked about what dad liked?"
They both nodded, beaming.
"Well, you guys are the best." Rex ruffled their heads. "Thanks for this."
When he finished his breakfast, Violeta picked up the tray."
Wishing their dad, one more time, a Happy Father's Day, they turned to leave. Rex was still smiling.
"Enjoy your old people music." Rafael added as he shut the door.
Rex's smile faded. He shook Circe who had went back to sleep. "Hey, do you think this is old people music?"
I originally had nothing written. But I wanted to still wish you all a Happy Father's Day. Fathers are so important. I'm glad my dad is still around even though his memory is slowly going.
