Everyone's bags were packed and they were ready to go. Trina and Joss took one last look through the house, making sure that they had collected everything.
"Come on Trina, I'm sure that you have everything that your dad brought over for you. Uncle Sonny will be here at any moment," Spencer called to his girlfriend, his voice a mixture of impatience yet indulgence. It was a weird mix.
"I'm sorry! I just wanted to make sure that I had some sunscreen and the right size bathing suits and some sunglasses," Trina came down with her bags and right into Spencer's embrace.
"Don't be sorry, baby. Just be ready," Spencer smiled, claiming Trina's lips in a lingering kiss.
Both Dex and Joss just sighed and chuckled.
"Why do I feel like we're the chaperones to those two?" Dex asked.
"Maybe because you're not kissing me like he's kissing her," Joss laughed, just as the door was suddenly kicked open and one of Sonny's men was pushed through the front door followed by an unfamiliar man with a gun.
"What the hell? Who are you? Where's Uncle Sonny?!" Spencer pushed Trina behind him, wanting to protect her as much as possible.
"The boss will kill you for this! The guard glared at the gunman.
"Shut up! Now I just want Dex Heller. Are you him?!" The gunman pointed his gun at Spencer.
"No! Leave him alone!" Trina forced her way to the front of Spencer, everything in her was ready to defend her man.
"I think he is!" The gunman leveled his gun at Spencer's head.
Sonny's guard was suddenly between the gunman and Trina and Spencer and grabbed the man's arm, pulling the gun up to the ceiling. The two couples helplessly watched as the two men struggled and suddenly there was a gunshot and Sonny's guard lay dead on the ground.
"Fuck! See what you made me do! Now I'm going to have to kill all of you! Mrs. Wu don't do witnesses," The gunman pointed the gun at Spencer and Trina, ready to shoot them both when there was another gunshot, killing the gunman.
Sonny walked in with his gun aimed at the now-dead intruder.
"Uncle Sonny, thank god!" Spencer exclaimed, wrapping his arms around a trembling Trina, who hid her face against his chest and began to sob. She hadn't been this scared since the Haunted Star.
"I take it Selina found me," Dex flatly replied.
"It looks like it. I had news that it would be ok for Trina and Spencer to return home now, but they witnessed a murder. Selina will most likely be gunning for them now as well. They'll have to go to the island after all. Everyone into the car. You leave now!"
"Is it still safe for us to go?" Joss asked, frightened by what happened.
"It's not safe for you to stay here," Sonny stared at Joss as if she had lost her mind. "Get your things and let us get going. Now! Frank, help Spencer and Trina with their bags. I think my nephew is going to need both of his hands."
"Yes boss," Frank walked over to the couple and picked up both of their bags.
Sensing that Trina was in no condition to walk comfortably, Spencer just scooped her up in his arms and carried her to the waiting car, and slipped inside, keeping her on his lap. "It's ok, Trina. You're safe now. It's ok."
Joss felt bad as she watched her sobbing friend, feeling that she was responsible somehow. She was the one dating Dex. It had been him that Selina Wu was looking for, but it was Spencer and Trina who had gotten threatened with a gun, after all they had been through already.
"Will she be okay? Joss asked, concerned.
"She'll be fine. She's just shell shocked probably," Dex also looked concerned. "She's been through a lot."
"I'll take care of her," Spencer simply replied, tightening his arms around his girlfriend, who seemed to burrow against him even more, as if she was trying to hide somehow. He simply kissed the top of her head and held her as tight as he could, wishing that he could hide her from the world. "It's ok, baby. I'm here, we're together. I'm not going to let anything happen to either of us. We got through Greenland. We'll get through this too."
…..
Dex and Joss had already boarded the plane. Trina had calmed down but had fallen silent as she stood close to Spencer, who had his arm around her waist, keeping her close.
"So Zeke is no longer gunning for me?" Spencer asked, confused by everything, yet concerned for his girlfriend. He didn't like how quiet she was right now and how she just seemed to keep her eyes straight ahead and not look at anything. It was as if she had totally checked out.
"Right. He now knows you're my nephew and it wouldn't be wise to keep gunning for my family members. He won't be bothering you anymore," Sonny explained.
"Well, that would be a relief if Selina Wu's men never found us and killed that guard in front of us like that," Spencer felt angry and scared, but he was forcing himself to keep it together for Trina. She had been so brave for him during the Haunted Star nonsense. Now it was his turn to be brave for her.
"I know. It would have been over for you. But now you both have to go to the island. There's no choice and I have no idea when I can bring you back."
"I understand. Just...if my dad comes back...tell him that I love him and that I'm sorry for everything. Please?"
Sonny nodded, not expecting that Nikolas will return, but making the promise anyway. "Now get going. The sooner you're in the air, the safer you'll be," Sonny nodded. "Take care, kids."
"I love you, Uncle Sonny. See you when this is over I guess," Keeping his arm around Trina's waist, he leads her onto the private jet and into their seats.
Sonny stepped back and watched the plane's door shut, then the private jet was off, taking his nephew, stepdaughter, and their partners to the safety of his private island. He had a lot to do to get the kids home, starting now. He took out his phone and dialed Brick.
"Hey, Brick. It's me. We have a Wu problem."
…..
Joss gave a worried glance over at where Spencer and Trina were setting. Spencer had his arm protectively wrapped around Trina's shoulders as Trina had her head resting against his chest. She still hadn't said a word, which worried all of them.
"I think we should take her to see a doctor as soon as we land. This isn't normal," Joss frowned.
"She's in shock right now. It's not every day that you see someone murdered before your eyes after having a gun pointed at you and your boyfriend," Dex sighed, feeling wretched over all of this. "This is all my fault. Why did I run to you instead of straight to Sonny? Why didn't I insist that we stay in separate houses? If we did…"
"There's no point in asking what if," Joss sighed. "The question is, what now?"
"What now? We go to that island and hunker down and hope that Selina doesn't find us again."
…..
Taggert and Curtis both wanted to blow up once Sonny clued them in on what happened.
"So you're telling me that Selina Wu found that Heller guy who was staying in the same place as my daughter, Wu found him and sent her man, who murdered one of your guards, and now instead of coming home, my daughter has to remain in hiding because now a mob boss wants her dead?!" Taggert glared at Sonny, wanting to throttle the mobster. "Are you kidding me?!"
"That's the way it is," Sonny simply stated. "I don't like it either. I was looking forward to sending Spencer back to his grandmother!"
"Maybe I can talk to Selina. Get her to leave Spencer and Trina alone. She keeps wanting to enhance our deal at the Savoy," Curtis offered, wanting to bring Trina home.
"No way. You're already in too deep right now. Plus, Selina's in a mood. She's up to something. It's best that the kids are out of her reach until I figure out what that something is. In the meantime, they stay hidden and we investigate and take care of Selina as quietly as possible. I don't want to bring Jordan down on us or put Dante in a tight spot."
"In the meantime, I'll look into sending Zeke back to California as soon as possible. No point in having him impose on Jordan," Curtis frowned. His frown deepened at Taggert's amused laughter. "What's so funny? You're Jordan's friend. Why is Zeke mooching off her so amusing to you?"
"Because you can't stand it, man! You can't stand it that another man is making eyes at Jordan and there's nothing you can do about it! Don't sweat it though, Zeke may be the black sheep of the Robinson family, but he's a good dude most of the time. Especially with the ladies. Jordan is in good hands. Maybe something good can come out of this for her."
"Are you serious, man? Zeke is a hitman. Someone who would work for Corinthos here, no disrespect, Sonny. But Jordan is the officer of the law. There's no way she would go for someone like him!"
Sonny didn't bother to hide his own amused smile. "Ah, I don't know. As a Zeke, once upon a time, women like the dangerous, misunderstood, handsome, maybe on the other side of the law, men of the world. Even police commissioners. Even police commissioners who look like your ex-wife. In my younger, wilder days, I would have definitely tried to woo her. I'm too old for all that now though. Leave it all for you young guys to enjoy."
"Wow," Taggert shook his head, really amused now. "Twenty years ago, if someone told me I'd be standing here laughing it up with Sonny Corinthos about someone's jealousy over a gorgeous woman, I would have told them that they were crazy."
"Same here, man. The same here," Sonny grinned.
(A/N: I know, I know. I just had to put Sprina back in danger. But this is a story about them being on the run. I couldn't see the Zeke situation lasting for long, so I mixed them into the mob stuff. More Sprina and Zordan coming up soon:))
