Bens POV
We agreed to talk in the meeting hall in the palace. It was big enough to fit us all. DeLaynie stood at the head of the table, everyone took seats. Fairy godmother was nervous about a teenager leading the gearing up of Auradon, but Hades said to trust her, so I convinced her to have some faith.
DeLaynie had us lay out a map of Auradon, and began the meeting.
"Alright, listen up, and listen quick: monsters of different sizes and breeds will be coming here for the buffet of demigods, and we can train them to defend themselves, but there are some who are too young, so we also need to train every guard in battle tactics. As well as work on finding all of these demigods. I'll look over the list, and send people out. I can send out the queen's friends out as well, within the teams we have already established, if they think they can handle it."
"I'm up for it." Carlos said.
"Same here." Jay said.
"Me too." Evie said.
"Don't forget us." Uma said.
"Uma!" Mal exclaimed.
The Sea Three, as well called them, came into the room.
"We were attacked by a giant lion. Managed to cage it, but we don't know where it came from."
We got them up to speed, and they volunteered to help in our new job.
DeLaynie checked the list upon hearing their names. And smiled.
"Uma, you're on the list. Daughter of Poseidon, the sea god. Same thing goes for Jay, Carlos, and Evie: Jay is a son of Nike, the victory goddess, Carlos is a son of Hephaestus, the blacksmith god, and Evie is a daughter of Hermes, god of pretty much anything that can be on the road, including thieves and merchants. And now I see that Gil is a son of Apollo, the archer god, and Harry is a son of Nemesis, the revenge goddess."
"And we never got child support why?" Uma asked.
"The gods don't do that sort of thing, Uma." DeLaynie's adoptive father said. "And believe me; I wouldn't have been able to look after DeLaynie if Njord could. But that's not to say they don't want to try."
"Yeah, the city where we live, they have a program that plans out visits for the gods with their children, regardless of the mortal parent's opinion." The goth boy known as Nico Di Angelo said. "Me and DeLaynie are participants of the program. It's fantastic."
"Alright, can we focus here?" DeLaynie asked.
"Sorry, got distracted."
"It's ok, I get distracted as well, but we have a job to do. So here is what we'll do: I'll assign you depending on your skillsets. The extra Avengers will help where I say they are needed. That a plan everyone can work with?"
We all nodded, and DeLaynie began asking for skillsets to be written down. We broke so we could do that, and DeLaynie pulled me aside.
I wasn't sure why, but I knew to listen to her, now more than ever.
DeLaynie tugged me to a private room, and made me listen to her.
"You should set up the program too. It could prevent a war, which we already had as a result of kids of the gods feeling abandoned. Or at the very least something similar."
"OK, I'll make sure to do that. You planning on joining the others?"
"Nah. I can stay here and be base command, if you'll have me. But we may want to have someone be the permanent head of monster elimination."
"Ok, we can work with that, but what about your dad?"
"Dad I've already decided should be head of the field hospital, in case it proves necessary. If it doesn't, or until then, I can have him animate any statues. I mean make the statues come alive with a command word, as backup."
I smiled. Now I could see why Hades said to listen to her. Despite her age, she was a good leader, and ready to give these monsters the fight of their lives.
We went back to join the others.
DeLaynie took up the skillset sheets, and ordered for silence. She began to look them over, the gears in her head turning.
"Alright: Carlos, you are with Tony and Rhodey, as I'm keeping Dad back due to his magic illness, to animate all statues and act as head of the field hospital should we need it. Jay, you're with Kate and Nico, Evie, you're with Bruce and Hope, as I'm being base commander. Uma, you're with Clint and Bucky, with Sam taking Harry and Gil."
We all agreed with her planning. But I was wondering about this magic illness I heard DeLaynie mention. Was it severe? Should he even be working with us? DeLaynie broke me from my thoughts by clapping her hands together.
"Alright: we got a map of the monster attacks?"
I got the projector to show off what we had been dealing with. It wasn't too bad, but it was concerning. DeLaynie looked it over, gears in her head turning.
"Ok, here is what we do: Team Carlos will make trucks for each of our teams, so we can be anywhere at a moment's notice." DeLaynie said. "Team Jay will go to Agrabah, and handle the monsters there. Evie and her team will help Corona, Uma and her team will go to Eric and Ariels kingdom, and get Triton to get busy helping them. Sam and his group will go to the Isle of the Lost, and deal with the situations there. As I said, I will be base command, with Mal and Ben, unless they express the urge to go with the other teams. Am I clear?"
"I like this plan." Mom said.
Wait, Mom? I thought.
I whirled, and lo and behold, Mom and Dad were standing in the doorway, looking worried.
"Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?" I asked.
"We were made aware of the situation, so we came to see if we can help."
"Wait, Belle, you're on the list too. Athena's kid, nonetheless." DeLaynie said, looking at the demigod list.
My jaw dropped. Mom smiled.
"Thats amazing." Dad said.
"Yeah, I can hear that loud and clear." DeLaynie said. "But it doesn't change the fact that she could be killed by the monsters. But I will accept her help. Queen Bookworm can help me research any magical items that can prove to be of use in case of an emergency. Ok if I call you that?"
Mom laughed at the nickname, and accepted to help and the nickname. I had to admit to myself, it was the best nickname I had ever heard.
DeLaynie had us break, and dragged all 'Disney peeps' as she called us, away to figure out weapons for everyone. We had to be strong so that our weakest link couldn't be so hard to break, was all she said.
She had someone retrieve the drakon carcass from earlier over to the castle, and had Rhodey go and retrieve the extra Drakon Scales sheets for us to use. She made swords for Carlos, Jay, Evie, and Harry. For Mal, she made a two-pronged spear, called a bident. Uma got a trident, and Gil got a hunting gun DeLaynie was able to tailor to shoot bullets made of Drakon Scales.
I smiled. I was glad everyone now had some sort of weapon. She then handed me a knife.
"Knives work best for quick and clever fighters." She said, "And I know of a hero who always relied on her knife."
I smiled. I was glad to be armed, and by the looks on my wife and friends faces, they were too.
