"Why are we suddenly being rounded up?" Vince asked me when I stepped out onto the fifth floor. "Is something wrong?"

"You'll know in a few minutes," I assured him.

We made it only another foot before our forward progress was interrupted.

"What the fuck, Dude?" Kane asked, stomping out of the stairwell and into the control room.

He did an about-face just so he could aim his scowl directly at me. I was told he was on the property and gave the go-ahead to let him into the building, but he still could've been less bull in a China shop and more polite guest.

"My angel and my wife leave me with no adult supervision and when I call up my ol' buddy to see what he's up to … I'm told he's heading into a family meeting. Family meeting! I'm hurt. I thought I was family. Why wasn't I invited?"

"Maybe you should be a lot nicer to Stephanie," I replied. "She's the one who wanted this impromptu meeting called."

"Whaddaya mean? I love Steph. She's like the sister I never had that I occasionally want to give up for adoption."

That got a snort out of Atlas. A stupid move on both their parts since my wife tends to show up at just the right moment to catch you doing something you don't want her to see.

"I heard that snort-laugh, One Shot," Steph said, coming in on cue carrying Olivia. "I can keep Kane and boot you out if you don't want to be here for this. Or dismiss both of you. It's probably safer for everyone if you two aren't sharing the same airspace anyway."

"Hey, what about this?" He asked, holding up his left arm to show off the much-debated friendship bracelet she had given him on Christmas. "We're 'friends', remember?"

"We've been over this a bunch of times. Technically, Julie ... made ... that."

"But you decided to actually give it to me."

"As entertaining as this bickering is … what's this about?" Bobby asked. "Why did you want us all here?"

"If you numbnuts would shut up for a minute," Tank said, joining us just in time because he's not about to miss this, "you might learn something."

"Up nuz," Olivia parroted.

"You are wise beyond your years, Olive-Pie," my wife told our baby.

"Figures," Kane bitched. "The almighty Tank already knows what we don't."

He punched Kane on the shoulder for that remark. He clearly meant it in fun because Kane was knocked only a foot to the side instead of flying into the opposite wall.

"What can I say?" He said to Kane. "Steph likes me."

"I like all of you … most days," Stephanie stated, her eyes flicking between Lester, Atlas, and Kane.

Her point being the rest of the men she likes all of the time because they don't find giving her a hard time their favorite way to pass theirs.

"Thanks for coming," she began, but Santos butted in.

"The boss told us over the speaker to get our as … behinds," he corrected, now that my daughter's in the room, "in here. You're not moving, are you? We've been dreading that announcement ever since Morelli and then your momster became problems."

"Joe's dead, and my mom may as well be with the lack of interest she's showing in us, so no … we're not moving. We wouldn't leave you guys."

Another snort, this time from Woody. "Like we'd let you. Where you guys go, we go."

My wife gave him a genuine smile.

"Kiss ass," Atlas told him.

"Behave, boys," she ordered. "Olive, you're up. Do you remember what I asked you to do?"

An emphatic nod was our baby's response.

"Alright," Steph told her, putting her on her feet. "Go do your thing."

Olivia took her toy and ran further into the control room, only to stop and mentally debate which of the many Uncles gathered around us to approach. After a cursory glance one way and then the other, she came back to where I was standing with my arm around her Mama.

"Here. Baby!" she told me, holding her doll by one leg and swinging it like a bat towards me to catch.

Steph sighed. "You know we already have a baby, Olive. You were supposed to give it to one of your Uncles."

"What's going on?" Lester asked. "And what's Olive doing with a baby doll? She keeps herself busy by destroying stuff, not babysitting."

"That's the detail you're focusing on? Use your brain for once," Tank told him, "and think about it."

"I should just put you out of your misery quickly and let you guys get back to what you were doing," my wife said, "since Olive isn't as reliable as her Daddy is at relaying information."

"Are you alright?" Bobby asked.

"Never better," Steph said. "I wanted Ranger to gather you all together so this doesn't go further than these walls until after Celia's wedding. I knew you guys would ask why I'm no longer doing apprehensions … "

"Holy fuck!" Santos all but shouted. "You're …?"

"Moly duck," Olivia said, happy to have her GodTank holding her after he gave her his keychain full of keys to shake at the crowd.

"Watch what you say," I told Lester. "But yes … Stephanie's pregnant."

"Me and Ranger are gonna have another Rangebaby!" My wife told the room. "I knew you guys would notice that I'm sticking closer to home and purposely not going out on captures, so I wanted to fill you in on what's happening with us. But I do not want any attention taken away from Celia. Which means no blabbing this news until after the wedding. Thank God it's soon so hopefully I won't start puking or showing until after I've worn my bridesmaid dress. I trust you guys completely, that's the only reason you're hearing this right now. I can see exactly what you're thinking, Lester. No, Ranger did not knock me up to keep me from doing apprehensions."

"Can't blame him if he did. Do we know what we're having?" He asked.

"I'm not far enough along to tell, but I know Olive is getting a brother … we just have to wait a few weeks for confirmation on that."

"You don't know, Babe. You're only guessing."

"Everything feels different this time," she argued.

"As they could with a second child," I reminded her.

"It'd better not be a boy," was Kane's reaction. "No way is my little Angel falling for a Manoso. I won't survive it ... and there's a chance he won't either."

"As if a child of Ranger's wouldn't know how to protect themselves," my wife pointed out.

"You're a real drama queen, aren't you?" Atlas asked Kane.

"No, just a realist. Wait till you have a daughter who might be interested in the offspring of someone here. There'll be some seriously scary shit to deal with on top of all the regular crap."

"Are you forgetting that Cal's having a boy?" Steph reminded him.

"Why don't we wait until our baby is big enough to determine a gender before you start planning the downfall of your families," I suggested.

"It's never too early to plan for a natural disaster," Kane informed us.

I felt my wife's eyes on me. "I was wrong with who to switch out. Clearly Atlas is more of a grownup than Kane is."

"You know I'm gonna have to tell Harp about this. She'll have my balls if I keep this a secret and she finds out. And she always finds out."

"You can tell your wives, girlfriends, or partners," Steph assured them. "We just don't want our families to know just yet. Mine, because I don't want to deal with my mother - though Grandma Mazur and my Dad will be told soon. They'll figure out that something's going on. And Ranger's, like I said ... Celia deserves to have her 'life change' be celebrated before we all start spoiling ours. Though I'm worried that Mama Manoso will guess our 'secret' before we tell them."

"I call dibs on being this kid's Godfather," Bobby said.

"Dream on, Brown," Tank told him. "I've already proven myself with Olive. I'm big enough to be GodTank to two kids and still be Julie's favorite Uncle."

"Size doesn't matter here. All yours gets you is a bigger vehicle to haul your butt around in," Santos said back.

"I'm with Santos here," Kane added. "I know how to take care of a kid now. There's no reason I can't be a Godfather."

"Seeing the kid/kids once a month doesn't give you top billing," Bobby told him. "We've been here every single day from the start of the Boss and Boss Lady's relationship and every single day of Olive's life."

"You guys do realize that the whole godfather/godmother tradition has been kinda phased out," Steph reasoned. "You don't need to be fighting over that. You will all be important people to our kids."

"You gave Olive a Godfather," Ram said. "That decision wasn't made all that long ago, so a new one needs to be. I'll be happy to step into the role."

"I changed my mind. I'm not pregnant. This was just a weird dream you're all having simultaneously. Forget it happened. You can wake up now."

I kissed her head. It was a solid attempt at getting out of this un-annoyed, but it's too late to take the news back.

"Babe."

"Yeah," she said only loud enough for me to hear it, "I know. But they're already fighting over titles. Maybe we shouldn't have said anything until I was showing and the decision was out of my hands."

"Don't say that, Steph," her 'Halosaurus' said. "We're happy for you and glad you and the boss shared this with us."

"Put Hal at the top of all of our lists," she whispered to me but loud enough for the men to hear.

"He faints at the sight of blood," Woody added, "that's not Godfather material."

"Aaaaand we're done here," my wife said. "It was nice talking to you guys."

"You can't just leave," Bobby stated. "We need to do … I don't know ... something."

"Like what? Toast this with champagne I can't drink? Get a cake Ranger will bribe me not to eat? I'm already stuck carrying around bags of 'healthy snacks' that rival Olive's," she shared, holding up a compostable sandwich bag containing an almond butter and fresh raspberry sandwich on whole grain bread.

Olivia enjoyed throwing the raspberries onto the bread hard enough for them to stick.

"Have Olive do a dance about something she doesn't quite understand yet?" Stephanie continued.

"How about a Ghostbusters marathon in the conference room with mocktails and maybe stovetop Ella popcorn?" Brown asked. "That's a healthy-ish snack, right?"

"You guys have things to do," my wife pointed out. "You can't ditch your plans or shirk your duties just to watch TV with us."

"They can if I give them permission to, Steph," I reminded her. "How are you feeling? Like you want a party or to rest?"

She didn't need to think about it. "I'm happy to shut down the company so we can all just hang out, but I know that's not possible. Too many things could go wrong, though we could just hang out in here for a little while to give everyone, including me, a chance to get used to the idea of two babies taking over the building."

I nodded. "Whatever you want."

"I want a spontaneous Rangeman holiday that won't endanger any of our clients. I'm less nervous and more excited this time around, since we did pretty good when we knew next to nothing about babies."

I glanced over at our daughter, who's telling her GodTank all about the newest Mo/Gunny adventure - where the two mutts ran a modified relay race with one of her boots - and had to agree. I was just as concerned as Stephanie was about whether I'd be a good parent, but Olivia and Julie have shown us that just loving our kids and wanting them to have the best parts of us is enough to ensure they'll be happy and marginally well-adjusted.

"Olivia and Julie are exceptional," I said. "There's no reason to believe this baby will be anything less than perfect as well."

"He will be," she insisted. "God knows we need more men in the world like the ones we're surrounded by here."

"If it's a boy, Babe."

"He's a boy. I'd put money on it."

"We don't need money," I told her. "Just a healthy baby."

"No baby," Olive told us. "Big gurl me."

"Yes, you are a big girl. And yes, we are having a baby. I'm working on the healthy part. I'll complain about having to eat vegetables and whole grains to keep myself healthy and running on more than just fumes, but I'll do anything for our kids. I'm afraid I'm gonna start researching C-sections in case he's an eight-pounder that I'll have to push out."

"Jeez, Steph. That's not a visual I need," Lester said.

"It's a visual I'll knock out of you if it tries to linger," I told him.

His hands went up in surrender. "No disrespect meant. I'm happy that you're giving me … us … another reason to do what we do best."

"We've gotta up our game now," Woody added.

"No shit," Zero piped in. "Olive is a handful. Can you imagine two of her to corral?"

"Permission to relocate, Sir?" Ramon said, turning smartass on us.

"Permission denied," I replied. "And you may want to brush up on your diaper skills, since you're now first up."

"Permission to watch him squirm?" Lester asked me while keeping his grin trained on Ramon.

"No. No squirming and no punishments," my wife told our overgrown children. "This is supposed to be happy news, not information used to torture each other."

"Oh ... come on, Steph. It can be both," Santos added.

"We are happy for you and the Boss, Steph," Raphael told us. "Looks like our babies are going to be born within weeks of each other. Aubrey will be relieved to have someone to go through this with since Kenzie's already reaching the homestretch."

My wife grinned. "Happy to help her out."

"You know, if this trend continues," Bobby said, "babies are gonna outnumber the adults here."

"The two we have are outsmarting us already," Steph reminded us.

"No shit," was Kane's response. "That Julie is gonna be running this organization within five years is my guess. And Olive … well she can keep on being like that. She's an entertaining kid."

All heads swiveled to where Olivia had moved onto trying to unlock his cell after snatching it off the desk when he wasn't looking once Tank let her down. She went through all the moves she's seen us do … try to punch in a series of numbers/letters, hold it up in front of her face as if her facial features will be recognized and gain her access, which turned to shaking it when nothing of interest appeared on the screen like it does on the rare occasions we let her watch something or play a game on ours.

"She is pretty cute," my wife told the room. "There really is no mystery she isn't ready to try and solve."

"She is muy inteligente like her mamá that way," Hector said, sliding into the group unnoticed by everyone except me.

"Thank you. All of you, Guys. After Ranger … there's no one I'd rather share a baby with."
