Same Evening: Mewni

Outside: Training Yard

Star and Moon talk on the balcony before the training yard where many soldiers are training and practicing with various weapons that are infused with high tech-blades of pure energy; swords, spears, bows, arrows, etc.

Star looks somewhat distracted, and Moon tells her, "Nothing out of order except your confused and distracted heart."

Star looks at Moon, "This isn't about Marco Diaz, Mother."

Moon quickly tells Star, "Humans lives are fleeting. They're nothing. You'll be better served by what lies in front of you." She gestures to the training yard and shows Hekapoo in training. Hekapoo quickly trips Sir Scarsgaurd with her spear and feels eyes upon her, and looks at them as she steps back from Sir Scarsgaurd. Moon walks around Star as she tells her, "I'm telling you this not as the All-mother, but as your Mother. You are ready." Star looks down, "The time has come to take the Throne. Embrace it and celebrate what you have won." She walks over to the stone railing a few feet from Star. She gestures to the soldiers with her hand, "Join your warriors. Eat and drink, revel in their celebration. At least pretend to enjoy yourself." She looks at Tom as he fires an arrow at the target, "And take Tom with you, keep him distracted for a while."

Star looks at Moon and asks curiously, "This is because of Janna's imprisonment?"

Moon tells Star, not removing her gaze from Tom, "Like many, he's heartbroken from Janna's betrayal." She looks at Star expectedly. Star looks back and nods, agreeing.

Tom fires another arrow and hits the target, right in the middle, beside the other 7 arrows in the red circle.

Star's Chambers

Star, only wearing her bra, wet from her bath, washing her hands and wrists in a bowl of water, ridding the blood from the Vanaheim battle, looking distracted and sad. Star grabs a cloth and dries her hands as she walks over to her balcony railing overlooking her beautiful home.

Night: Tavern

Star sits silently with a small smile, watching her comrades celebrate around her, except for Tom, who is sitting alone, looking down and fiddling with his drink. Everyone is eating, drinking, and conversing with one another.

Sir Lavabo sits down with a child on his lap, drinks with the rest of his drink, looks inside the cup, then throws the empty mug of ale to the ground and demands loudly, "Another!" With a roar of laughter, everyone around him cheered and laughed at his light demand.

Star smiles with sad affection. She puts down her mug on the table, stands up, and walks away. Sir Scarsgaurd, with two women in his arms, pats Star's shoulder as she passes him. Star walks by the balcony, where Hekapoo stands alone.

Hekapoo tells Star as she goes to pass her, "There was a time when you would celebrate for weeks."

Star turns to Hekapoo and stands beside her, facing and leaning on the railing, "I remember you and Tom celebrating the battle of Haragon so much that you nearly started a second."

Hekapoo smiles and rolls her eyes playfully, "Well, the first was so much fun." They smile at the memory. Star looks down. Hekapoo looks at her sadly before smiling a bit, "Take a drink with me. Surely the All-mother can have no further task with you tonight."

Star politely refuses as she turns to Hekapoo, "No, this is one I set myself."

Hekapoo points out, "It does not go unnoticed that you disappear each night. There are Nine Realms. The future Queen of Mewni must focus on more than one."

Star smiles sadly and nods, "I thank you for your sword and for your counsel, good friend Hekapoo." Star walks away, leaving Hekapoo staring sadly after her.

As Star walks through the crowd, a hand softly grabs her left wrist. Star stops and looks down at the hand with narrow confused eyes before looking up to see Tom. He smiles softly and nods to his right, "Dance with me." Star smiles a bit, and before she can respond, he's softly tugging her toward the dance floor.

A minute later, Tom and Star are on the dance floor, slow dancing. Star's right hand in Tom's left, his right hand respectfully on her waist, and her left hand on his shoulder.

After a few moments of silence, Tom speaks up and points out the obvious, "I guess both of us aren't in great spirits tonight." Star looks up at him. Tom continues, "We are both separate from the ones we love. How does one cope with that?" He's talking about Janna and having more of a hard time getting over her now that she's alive when he thought she was dead.

Star tells Tom softly, resting her head on his chest as they dance, "By living on normally, knowing they're safe and sound, hoping that we will see them again." She's mostly talking about Marco. After a moment, Star looks up at him, "I want to thank you for everything you've done for me when we were on Earth."

Tom shrugs and smiles a bit, "I was only doing my duties."

Star smiles and shakes her head, "No, you were being a friend." They both smile, continuing to dance. Star mumbles against his head, "My friend." She kisses his cheek softly before continuing to sway as they dance.

EARTH: London, England

Day: Restaurant

Jackie Lynn Thomas is sitting down at a table in a restaurant on a date with a girl named Chloe. Indistinct chattering is heard in the restaurant. With her menu up to her face, Jackie looks at Chloe through the top of her menu. Chloe looks at her, and Jackie quickly looks down and hides behind her menu. Chloe slips her a note trying to get her attention, the note saying 'Hi'. Awkward and startled, Jackie lowers her menu.

Chloe looked at her menu, "Hi."

Jackie closes and places her menu on the table, muttering, "Hi." She smiles, feeling awkward.

Chloe looks at Jackie and smiles a bit, "So, what's the story with you?"

Jackie quickly asks as she shrugs, "Why should there have to be a story? There's no story."

Chloe points out, "You've spent the first ten minutes of our date hiding behind a menu that has three choices on it. It's either chicken, vegetarian, or fish, Jackie. I think there's a story, and the story either involves a girl."

Jackie breathes out before telling Chloe, "Sort of." Chloe gives her a confused look, Jackie realizes how that sounded and stutters trying to tell her, "It's not my... Its-it's my best friend's girl, they... uh... It's complicated." She finishes simply as she talks about Marco.

A little confused and curious, Chloe asks, "Is she still around?"

Jackie shakes her head, "No, she..." She pauses and thinks of a simple way to tell Chloe, "Went away." She's talking about Star.

Chloe asks Jackie as she's trying to understand the situation a little, "And you're helping him get over her?"

Jackie nods, "Yes, I am."

Chloe tells Jackie, "I've been there. The going away. It's hard, isn't it?" Jackie nods a bit, "I was seeing a woman, and ah, she took a job in New York. Eventually, the distance killed it." Jackie nods as she listens, "And the fact that she, uh, she kept sleeping with other duties."

Jackie gasps and says lowly, "No!"

Chloe nods once, knowingly, "Oh, so many." A woman approaches the table and stops on Jackie's left. Chloe looks at her and begins placing her order, "Hi, um, could we get some wine, please?" Jackie glances at Chloe, knowing who the woman is.

The woman revealed to be Brittney Wong as she smiled, "Sure, I'd love some." Another person approaches the table and stands on Jackie's right, revealing it to be Marco Diaz.

Marco looks around, bored, "Yeah. Especially me." He's looking tired, clearly not getting much sleep, wearing his PJs with his signature backpack across his shoulders.

Jackie introduces, "Chloe, this is Brittney." She points to her left. Brittney looks to Jackie, gives the thumbs up, and mouths 'Sweet'. Jackie, ignoring Brittney, then points to Marco, "And this is Marco, the best friend." Marco gives a small smile and waves, and Chloe mouths 'Ohh'. She nods in understanding and smiles back at Marco. Jackie looks between her two friends, "What are you doing here?" Brittney grabs and drags a chair to their table.

Marco explains, putting his hands in his pockets, "She dragged me here."

Chloe awkwardly said, "Oh, hello." As Brittney takes a seat at their table.

Brittney butters herself some bread as she explains, "So, I show up for work at the lab/your mum's house,-" Marco sighs and grabs a chair, taking a seat himself as Brittney continues, "-fully expecting you to be with Marco here,-" She points at Marco with her piece of bread, Jackie looks at him questionably, Marco shrugs carelessly with a roll of his eyes as if saying 'I don't know what to tell you, it's Brittney', Brittney continues, "-moping around in your pajamas eating ice cream and obsessing about-" She clears her throat, "-You know who." Jackie looks at Chloe. Marco grabs a piece of bread, takes off small pieces, and eats it.

Chloe nods her head, confirming what Jackie said about Marco and her suspicion about the ex, "Ah."

Brittney takes a bite of her bread and looks at Jackie, "But you're not. You're wearing lady clothes. You even showered, didn't you? You smell good." She nods to Marco, "Unlike Marco over here. He needs one. That's why his hair is messy." Chloe glances at Marco awkwardly, who signs irritatedly and grabs his toque from his backpack.

Marco snaps at Brittney as he puts his toque on, "Is there a point to all of this? Because there really needs to be a point to all of this." He wants to be back in his bed.

Brittney nods as she drops the knife and bread on the table, "Right." She looks between Jackie and Marco, "You know all that scientific equipment you both don't look at anymore?" She pulls a piece of equipment out of her pocket and passes it to Marco across the table. Brittney tells them, "You might want to start looking at it again." Marco studied the device in disbelief, "This is the reason we came all the way out here." Jackie looks over to see the screen as the device beeps rapidly.

Jackie suggests, "It's malfunctioning." Marco taps the screen and presses a few buttons. The device doesn't stop beeping.

Brittney explains, "That's what I said." Marco hits the device with his hand before thumping it on the table. Brittney tells him, "That's what I did. I thought you would do something a little more scientific."

Jackie looks at Chloe and smiles, "I'm sure it's nothing." She takes the device from Marco's hands and passes it back to Brittney. Marco gives Jackie a look, which she ignores, not wanting Marco to stress over nothing, even though it's something.

Chloe shakes her head with a smile, "Yeah, it's-"

Brittney interrupts, "It doesn't look like nothing. Kinda looks like the readings that Mr. Candle was rambling about." Marco returns to eating his piece of bread but thinks about what he read on the device. Jackie leans her elbows on the table, placing her intertwined hands under her chin, also thinking. Brittney says to Chloe, "Our friend Mr. Candle kinda went banana balls."

Jackie tells Brittney as she points to Chloe, "She's not interested."

Chloe looks at Jackie, "I'm interested." She gets ignored.

Jackie gestures to herself, "I'm not interested." She gives Brittney a significant look as she points to Marco, "And he's not interested. It's time for you two to go now." She points to the exit.

Brittney looks from Jackie to Chloe, saying simply, "Okay." Brittney gets to her feet, with Marco following after he receives a look from Jackie. Marco takes his bread with him. Brittney and Marco loudly drag their chairs back to where they got them.

As Brittney and Marco walk away, Chloe says to Jackie, "Short but sweet."
