Hey guys, been awhile huh? Sorry about that. Been handling things on my end but I'm back now! Hopefully with a revamped mind that'll help me with my stories. Before reading this chapter I ask that you go and read the new and revamped Chapter 1 of this story!
Hope you enjoy what I've written below!
Chapter 2: Day 1 Resurgence : Ire
She got the news alert while she was waiting for homeroom to start. It would be her first of many if she chose to continue studying here. What was that? She should be more excited?
Yeah, you would assume so.
After all she'd made it into the Hero Course at the prestigious UA Academy right? The school that had produced the heroes that pushed back Shigaraki and the LOV. The school that brought out heroes like Dynamight and Uravity and Lemillion would be putting their efforts into teaching her next she should be ecstatic!
But she wasn't. She'd never be excited to be here, she'd never want to be sitting in this stupid hero classroom. Not when she had more than enough evidence to know just how fake these people could be.
But she was here for a reason, she'd given what effort she could muster to pass to get in here for a reason. So, she'd suck it up for now even if-
"Good morning everyone!"
-Even if some of her classmates were apparently loud as all hell in the morning.
The black haired girl watched as the rest of her classmates began to file into the room. Honestly the only thing she thought was worth noting were the amount of foreigners here. Sure it wasn't abnormal to see but damn, near all of her classmates looked like they were from anywhere BUT Japan.
Then again, it wasn't really her concern.
She wasn't exactly here to make friends after all, at least not in her mind anyway.
To that end she kept her head down, focusing on simply listening to her classmates as they sat and ignoring any conversation they wanted to pull her into. Honestly it wasn't their fault entirely, she just didn't relate to them…like at all.
"Hey there, you must be our last classmate."
Which is why she would appreciate it if they didn't talk to her.
Withholding her snarl she looked up to see a redhead looking down at her with a smile. Her blue eyes shone with a kind of that had her stomach churning in disgust.
"We missed you at the get together last night."
"Probably because I didn't want to be there."
The girl frowned for a moment before steeling herself and offering her hand.
"Well, hopefully that'll change. Names Barbara, Barbara Gordon."
"I don't care."
Ah, crap. Probably shouldn't have snapped at her like that judging by the shock that crossed Barbaras face. Look, she was tired and annoyed okay? She didn't need social interaction on top of all that.
Barbara walked away with a huff as she put her head back down into her hands, god her head was pounding. Fucking nightmares…they never let her sleep, she'd probably have to take double the dose to survive the day.
Thankfully her classmates left her alone for most of Homeroom…in fact it seemed like the teacher would as well considering the fact that they'd yet to show up. She wasn't alone in that realization but it wasn't like anyone was complaining.
Free Homeroom was free Homeroom right?
The black haired girl let out a hum as she looked up at the time, if the teach wasn't here in five minutes she'd just get up and leave. No use sitting here doing fuck all while she could—
"Holy shit!"
She jumped at the yell. Turning around she saw one of her classmates staring at his phone with wide eyes. His jaw dropped as whatever he was watching caused their other classmates to gather around. Whatever they were watching were causing them to get louder and louder and the following notifications from her their phones only added to the noise.
She'd be more annoyed by this if her own phone wasn't going off like crazy.
'What the hell?' She thought with a frown, taking out her phone and scrolling through the news feeds that seemed to be going wild over one thing.
Her red eyes widened as one word kept being repeated over and over again. But—there was no way right? There was no way he would just show up like this again right?
She sat up straight as she clicked on the video and couldn't believe what she saw. It must have happened recently, no less than five or ten minutes ago from the various live feeds she saw were going on. But she'd watch those later, right now her focus on one thing and one thing only.
Red Hood.
She took in the mans form and action. From the way he carried himself and the way he showed no hesitation in gunning that bank robber down. It was a signal, a warning for what was to come for all the criminals he must have known were or would be watching this.
But more than that…it was a signal for her. A message.
One she grinned at as she realized just exactly why her caretakers had told her to enroll here.
'Well...looks like things aren't going to be as boring here as I thought.'
It was twelve o'clock in the afternoon and Aizawa was already tired.
Those who knew him would laugh it off, after all he was always tired. Being an Underground Hero and a teacher didn't exactly give him the best sleep schedule after all. But the exhaustion he was feeling was different than normal, nonetheless he was familiar with it. It felt like an old friend coming to greet him, someone he absolutely despised talking too.
With what had happened today he could say that was more than accurate.
Red Hood.
A name that haunted him. A name that chilled his bones and scorched his flesh with the reminder of his failures.
A name that had been plastered on every news site and Youtube post for the past two hours. His coworkers weren't acting any better than the average conspiracy theorist at the moment and don't even get him started on all their kids.
Or his kids for that matter.
'No.' He closed his eyes as he approached 1A's door. 'Don't. Deal with it later, focus on the now.'
When he walked in he was assaulted by noise, the entire class had formed a group around a table. Animatedly they talked about Red-about him. Normally he'd take them to school about wasting his time but this way he got an idea about what he was working with.
He knew he'd be getting foreigners but even he had to admit this was a little bit ridiculous. Don't get him wrong, UA wasn't one to discriminate their entries based on where they were born. Hell, none of the Hero Schools in Japan were but…from what he could tell there were only three students of Japanese descent here.
They were also the only three to be sitting in their seats.
He recognized the first one. How could he not? The boy was showing off his scars for all to see, he would never forget the night he'd failed to ensure the safety of a boy that Hero Society had already failed a thousand times over.
Kota Izumi had already lost too much for a fifteen year old boy and by the dark glare he was giving Aizawa the years since the Hell Classes' first Training Camp hadn't done his emotions towards heros any good.
It was a miracle the boy was here instead of out on the streets as a vigilante.
The next one was someone he had only met through reports and his former classes horrific accounts…and his sisters constant ramblings.
Katsuma Shimano.
Shy.
Short.
And most of all…quirkless.
UAs first quirkless applicant that not only passed the Written Exam with a decent score but passed the practical with enough villain and hero points to more than earn his place in the hero course. He would have his work cut out for him, being born quirkless was hell as it was but his unique circumstances would only increase those hardships.
Then there was the last one…he didn't know her name. Unlike his other students her file was remarkable small, which was somewhat concerning considering she was the top ranker in the Practical Exam in Villain and Hero Points.
Ire Nguyen.
Quirk: Erasure.
He'd find it amusing if their quirk factors didn't do the complete opposite of one another.
Yes they both erased things. But while he could erase quirks temporarily with a look Ire erased things by touch. Permanently.
The girl erased things in a way Aizawa had never seen, in a flash of light he saw robots and debris being cleared in an instant. The control she had was something he expected out of his third year students, hell even then Ire seemed to be better at handling her quirk than some of them.
But other than what she'd shown in the exam there was practically nothing about her other than her name, age and who her parents were.
Amongst his students this year she was the one that interested him the most and not just because she had the most potential out of everyone here.
"Ahem." He coughed, gaining the attention of the others. "If you're done gossiping go to the locker room and change into the gyms uniforms provided for you there. We'll be having an assessment test to see where you're at so I can further your lesson plan."
They all quickly got up to do just that. The class rushing with smiles on their faces to finally get their first day started.
He caught Ires eye as she left, the girls red eyes staring holes into his black ones.
He sighed. This was gonna be a long year.
Ire huffed as she stretched watched her classmates do their assessments, the tests themselves were mundane but it was how people did them that really interested her. Her classmates were kids but some of them seemed to show legitimate potential.
The foreigners seemed to have some actual utility in their pot, the three grey skinned girls of the class seemed to focus on using their powers to augment themselves for the test instead of just using them to plow through them like the rest.
That blonde one, Markov if she heard correctly?, had some control but it was shaky at best. Literally. She wiped out on the race trial and Ire had to roll her eyes at how people crowded around to help her up.
She would keep her own private thoughts on that to herself.
Thankfully, her own countrymen were no slouches during these tests. Although—
"O-oh! Sorry."
She wished one of them would stop with the shy gimmick he had going on.
Ire glared at Katsuma, the boy cowing under her hard gaze before she looked away with a 'tch.'
"Just watch we're your going next time shorty."
Maybe don't stare off into space then."
Ire turned to send a fierce glare at the boy who'd spoken only to be met with one herself. It was the other Japanese boy, the one with the red cap.
"You got a problem?"
"Do you?" The boy challenged, stepping into her space. "You're the one giving everyone a hard time."
"Haa?" She tilted her head, her annoyance rising as she crossed her arms. "You wanna tell me how I'm giving everyone a 'hard time' by wanting to be left alone?"
"We're here to be heroes." He grunted. "We can't do it alone. You alienating yourself isn't going to help you."
Ire narrowed her eyes, that-wasn't the answer she expected form the kid. She looked him up and down again, it did seem like he had worked on himself before enrolling. She hadn't paid too much attention to his trials but by the wetness on his hands he probably had a water quirk.
…Hrm, a kid with a weird red hat and a water quirk….
Ire blinked.
Oh. Ohhh, well, at least she knew why she thought he was familiar. That made things even more interesting.
Still, she wasn't about to take crap from him. Especially considering that Kota Izumi of all people chose to go to a Hero school after everything he'd been through.
"How about instead of ragging on me you focus on your own shit?" The black haired girl scoffed, bumping his arm as she passed. "Make sure you don't end up like your parents."
She ignored the shocked gasp that left the boys mouth and went off to the side. This was stupid, everything here was stupid, she didn't want to do these stupid assessments that didn't even matter!
"Nguyen, you're next."
She didn't acknowledge Aizawa as she sat down, a scowl on her face as she picked at the bandages covering her arms.
"Nguyen."
"Blow me."
Aizawa narrowed her eyes at the growl, noting how the girl buried her head into her arms and proceeded to ignore the stares and whispers of her classmates. He let out a sigh and shook his head, great—another problem child for him to deal with this year. Just fantastic.
God he wished he could expel people still.
'Yep.' He thought as he directed the rest of his class to continue their drills. 'This is definitely going to be a long year.'
