They searched for lola for weeks, that night they called the police and filed a missing person's report. Rita and Lynn sr questioned Lucy, Lincoln and lana for hours that night. They were desperate for information, Rita was afraid at what could of happened to lola.
Since the girl never made it home, the parents are desperate for answers. Lincoln and lana were distraught, Rita felt bad for questioning the kids so intensely but the longer lola was missing the less likely they were to find the missing girl. Lucy was almost unaffected by the happening, it disturbed Rita how calm Lucy was.
During the questioning Lucy showed no emotion, her story was medical and uncaring. It frustrated the mother of eleven, didn't Lucy care that Lola was missing?
A rebellious voice in the back of Rita's mind said that Lucy was lying, but why?
Rita noticed more disturbing behavior, Lynn Jr fell of her bike and skinned her legs up something terrible, the Thirteen year old limped home with her legs dripping long rivites of blood. Everyone crowded around the hurt girl trying to help her into the house or asking what happened. Lucy was the only one who seemed unconcerned, if anything the girl was disengaged.
That's until Rita caught the flash of a smile, it chilld the older woman to her core just seeing it. Lucy was happy Lynn was hurt.
This was something that Rita agonized over in the weeks after Lola disappeared, but the more she saw the more concerned she became.
Lynn was adamantly against the idea that Lucy was lying about what happened to her sister. It was like talking to a brick wall, Lynn fought back and forth with her about taking Lucy to therapy.
Rita wanted Lucy to be evaluated, before she became a danger to herself or her siblings.
Rita got her way but at a cost, Lynn had never looked so betrayed than when he watched her drive Lucy to Dr. Lopez office.
Lucy is sullen for the whole ride, Rita watched her daughter off and on. It was eerie to say the least but Rita could feel the tension in the car, Lucy was not happy about this visit.
Dr, Amelia Lopez was a forty-six year old woman, recommended by Clyde's dad's as an excellent children's therapist. Rita had expressed her concerns about Lucy when doctor, and Dr Lopez made the appointment to evaluate Lucy to see if she was a threat to herself or others.
Rita waited in a plain room reading an old fashion magazine, the blonde girl on the cover reminded her of Lola. Since she'd left, Lynn had been blowing up her phone non stop. He was pissed and rightfully so, they had agreed to make any decisions regarding the kids together. Rita just wished her husband could see some of Lucy's more disturbing behavior, Lynn's mother passed when he was only ten and his dad was a shoe sales man. In the days Lynn's great Aunt Harriet would care for him, Lucy had a vintage photo of the older woman and the resemblance was uncanny.
Rita wondered of mabey that connection was clouding her husband's thoughts, sighing Rita hoped she was making the right choice.
In the office Dr Lopez made small talk with Lucy, the girl was surprisingly bright and verbose. The Dr noted that Lucy seemed on edge, taking Rita's concerns into account the doctor watched the girls expressions closely. Monitoring for any signs of dishonesty.
Lucy was seething on the inside, her mother was such a nosey bitch. While Lucy was watching the vampires of melencholia whith Lincoln,at Lucy's prompting ofcourse. Out of nowhere their mom pulled Lucy into the car with little explanation, Lucy however knew what this was about. Back in the cave Lola's corpse was swollen and smelled putrid, the body started to purge and the skin was mottled with some skin seeming to slip from her body. insects had already eaten a fair amount of the soft tissue from her face, how ugly the beauty queen became after death.. no longer could she tempt Lincoln away from Lucy. Mom was being a huge pain in the ass however, when Lola went missing everyone started panicking and searching for the missing girl. Lucy didn't need to look however, their parents questioned them relentlessly. Lucy remembers the probing looks on her mother's face, perhaps the cow had seen through her facade?
Lucy would never forget or forgive the treatment Lincoln received, the boy was on the verge of tears but their mother was relentless during questioning. Later that night Lincoln couldn't sleep so Lucy attempted to keep him company as the police and older kids searched for Lola, that was untill the bitch made her go back to her room. Lucy wanted to dry her brothers tears and curl next to him, stroking his face lovingly but her cunt of a mother kept getting in the way.
The doctor was a nosey bitch just like her mom, Lucy could read the doctor almost like a book. After several years of practicing Lucy could mimic normal behavior expertly. It was necessary for her to blend in, recently she slipped.
Killing Lola was a big slip up, Lucy couldn't help it though. Lincoln belonged to Lucy alone, he was the only other person who was real in Lucy's mind. The others were expendable as far as Lucy was concerned but they were necessary for the ruse that Lucy was a normal girl. So she played nice and acted like she gave a fuck most days, people left Lucy to her idiosyncrasies and wrote off most of her behavior as eccentric.
" do you miss Lola, Lucy "?
Lucy tried to give the doctor the answer she wanted to hear but could see something akin to concern on the doctors face. Frustrated Lucy Diggs her fingernails into the cuts hidden behind her sleeves, Lola had scratched Lucy up considerably during the struggle. Breaking the skin Lucy musters up some tears, making the older woman's features soften.
Rita is surprised when doctor Lopez walks out holding Lucy's hand, it was shocking to see the solitary goth letting a stranger hold her hand. It sent warning signs to Rita, Lucy didn't like being touched by most people that included family. Lucy pulled away form the doctor and ran twords her mother, Rita almost recoils when Lucy hugs her.
The actions felt forced and way too planned out to be natural, at the end of the visit doctor Lopez gives Lucy an all clear to go home. The car ride is silent, Rita was frustrated with the visit. Once the doctor was gone Lucy went back to her normal behavior, it was like the girl was playing a game and no one else could see it except her.
When they got home Lucy bolted from the car and into Lincoln's arms, Lynn sr and the older girls were on the porch. The anger on her family's faces hurt the most, Lynn wouldn't talk to Rita for the rest of the night. Lucy stuck close to Lincoln as the older boy comforted her, Rita couldn't prove it but Lucy smiled at her during dinner while her family gave her the silent treatment. Rita was determined, there was something wrong with her daughter. She'd prove it to everyone even if it killed her.
