Sorry it's been so long since I've updated, had a bit of writer's block with this chapter. I should be updating ore often from this point on.
Luthor Corp
Afternoon
Oliver was on the phone with some of his Egyptian contacts, trying to figure out what happened to the Amulet of Isis when the doors to his office opened. He hung up and turned around to see Clark had walked in.
"Concerned look, stoic silence…what are you wearing?" Oliver asked as he saw how Clark was dressed.
"I'm on my way to meet for someone for coffee, Tess wanted me to stop in on my way, see if there was any progress on the amulet," Clark said.
"And she couldn't ask me that herself because…" Oliver trailed off.
"Her exact words were 'since Oliver can barely seem to tolerate the sight of me, I thought it would be better to have you ask'," Clark said and Oliver nodded.
"Okay, fair point. You can tell her I'm trying to find it as much as anyone else," Oliver said and paused. "So, this coffee with a mysterious brunette who keeps popping by the Daily Planet to see you?"
"How…Tess," Clark realized, annoyed. "So you two gossip about me when you two aren't sniping at each other?"
"She and I don't agree on much, but we both find it more than a little interesting that this mysterious brunette enters your life around the time Lois leaves," Oliver mentioned.
"It's not like that. Paige…she knows my secret," Clark admitted, stunning Oliver.
"Okay, that is officially the biggest news I've heard all day. So Lois skips town and now you're telling random brunettes your secret?" Oliver asked in confusion.
"It's not like that. Paige and I go back a bit; I saved her life long before the Blur. She and I sort of crossed paths when I was trying to track down a lead on this new threat," Clark explained.
"And she saw you as the Blur," Oliver realized.
"Enough to put everything together. She…she helped me through something, something I've been struggling with. But she's just a friend," Clark said.
"If you say so boy scout. Just…do you trust her?" Oliver asked uncertainly.
"I do," Clark said as he thought of everything Paige had done to help him.
"Well then I guess that's good enough for me," Oliver said, seemingly satisfied.
Hotel
Same time
"Piper, listen, I have to go, I'm meeting Clark for coffee," Paige said as she talked on the phone with her sister, putting on some shoes.
"Shouldn't you be looking for a cheaper hotel if you're going to stay in Metropolis? I mean, it was nice for your friend Amy to pay for your stay through the wedding, but the weddings over," Piper pointed out.
"I know and I'm looking into some cheaper hotels for now. This isn't my first time being on my own," Paige pointed out. "I can handle it Piper. But I really need to go."
"Alright, alright, I can take the hint. I'll talk to later, I love you," Piper told her.
"I know, I love you to," Paige said before hanging up.
Paige put her phone in her purse before picking it up and heading towards the door. She was in such a rush; she didn't even see the amulet she had placed her phone next to.
Metropolis
Early afternoon
Paige was at the café, waiting for Clark. He was a few minutes late, but Paige wasn't worried. She knew he was probably stopping a car crash of something. Hearing her phone go off, Paige reached inside her purse. However, she felt something that was definitely not her phone or anything else she knew was it her purse. Pulling it out, Paige stared in shock at the amulet.
"Okay, what are you and how did you get in my purse?" Paige wondered as she put the amulet to her chest.
On the street near the café, a car was driving when it parked. The sun reflected off the hood, creating a ray of sun that shined directly into the amulet. Clark was on the other side of the street, walking towards the café when he saw the table Paige was at was blown clean across street as Paige was surrounded by bright gold energy.
Halliwell Manor
Same time
Phoebe was in the attic, going through the Book of Shadows when it suddenly slammed shut. She stared at it in shock as it suddenly glowed pure gold for a moment before the glow faded.
Metropolis
Same time
Clark watched in horror as Paige was surrounded by energy as the people in the café and on the street looked at her in confusion and fear. Suddenly, the energy vanished and there was just Paige standing there, holding the amulet. She dropped her purse to the ground and put the amulet on as Clark rushed across the street as fast as he could at human speed.
"Paige, Paige are you alright?" Clark asked worriedly as he reached her and Paige looked at him, perfectly calm.
"This vessel may have once been called Paige, but now it serves Isis," she said.
Clark looked at her in bewilderment, which quickly turned to shock as Paige's body was once again surrounded by gold energy. Paige then flew up into the sky, taking off as Clark stared after her in shock.
Watchtower
Later in the afternoon
Clark was trying to get a hold of Carter but kept being told he was offline when Oliver walked in.
"Just typical, ya know? Just when we need a lesson on how to de-Isis your friend, Professor Hawkhead takes a sabbatical. How did Paige get a hold of the amulet anyway?" Oliver asked as he walked over to Clark, a book under his arm.
"Not sure, but I know she didn't steal it," Clark said with certainty. "But we need help and there's one other person we can call." Clark turned around to face Oliver. "Tess."
"Did you hit your head?" Oliver asked defensively. "A, she can't be trusted. B, she can't do what Chloe did. No one can take Chloe's place."
"This isn't just about Isis. Oliver, Paige has powers," Clark said and Oliver looked at her sharply.
"Like what, she's a meteor freak?" Oliver asked.
"Something like that," Clark said evasively, not wanting to betray Paige or her sisters. "If Isis has Paige's powers in addition to her own, the entire city is in trouble. We need to know what we're dealing with Oliver."
"What do you think I brought this for?" Oliver said as he put the book down. "According to a once lovely, now livid museum curator, Isis's husband Osiris was killed by his brother Set out of jealousy. I guess being an only child does have some perks. Anyway, Egyptians believed a person's soul resides in the heart. So when Set dissembled Osiris's body and scattered all the pieces-"
"He wanted to make sure Osiris's soul never found peace," Clark finished.
"Exactly. But the mighty Isis vowed to resurrect Osiris. She recovered his body piece by piece but she was never able to find the burial jar containing his heart. And to make sure she never did, Set trapped Isis's spirit in an amulet," Oliver explained.
"And now that she's back, she's gonna finish what she started," Clark realized. "If we can find that jar, then she'll find us."
Clark moved to head out the door when Oliver's voice stopped him.
"Clark," Clark looked back at Oliver. "Because of his lost soul, Osiris was doomed to rule the underworld for all eternity. If Osiris rises, his kingdom will also rise. She will literally unleash Hell on earth."
Halliwell Manor
Same time
"I was going through the book when it suddenly slammed shut. It glowed and now it won't open," Phoebe explained to Piper and Leo as they stood in the attic, looking down at the Book of Shadows.
"It's a defense mechanism," Leo explained and the sisters looked at him sharply. "Every Book of Shadows has one. It usually takes affect when a force greater than the Power of Three threatens to corrupt it."
"Well what could that be?" Piper asked and Leo held up his hands.
"Don't look at me, I've been here all day," Leo said.
Suddenly, Leo's head turned to the side as he felt a tingling sensation. Piper and Phoebe followed his gaze as a woman wearing a gold and white rob Orbed in.
"Sandra," Leo said wearily and she nodded.
"Leo. Piper, Phoebe," Sandra greeted all of them. "I come on behalf of the other Elders."
"I assume this has something to do with why our Book of Shadows has gone all wanky?" Piper asked as she looked at the book.
"It has everything to do with it. Paige has been possessed by the spirit of the goddess Isis," Sandra announced, stunning the three of them.
"Again?" Piper groaned.
"That wasn't Isis Piper," Leo said and she looked at him incredulously. "That was a witch, trying to cling to another body. This is a goddess, who has taken possession of Paige's body."
"Leo is right. Isis is a goddess and has the powers of one. She intends to raise her husband Osiris, and with him the underworld," Sandra said, to their alarm.
"You mean that myth about Osiris is actually true?" Leo asked in disbelief.
"You of all people know that some myths are based in reality Leo," Sandra said.
"I'm sorry; we're a little lost here. Myth?" Phoebe asked as she and Piper looked confused.
"The Egyptian Myth of Osiris. According to legend, he was the sky god and ruled all of Egypt. His brother Set, out of jealousy, killed him and scattered his body across the world. Osiris's wife, Isis, spent the rest of her life trying to put him back together," Leo explained. "Like I said, I thought it was myth."
"As much as witches and demons," Sandra said and they turned back to her. "Osiris was imprisoned in the underworld many centuries ago. In order to ensure he would never rise, the Elders spread his body all across the world. Isis had put most of him back together but we trapped her spirit in an amulet to ensure she couldn't find his heart. But there was a drawback: anyone holding the amulet over their heart when it was struck by sunlight would become possessed by Isis."
"And so Paige somehow got a hold of this amulet and accidentally unleashed Isis's spirit," Leo realized and Sandra nodded.
"And if Osiris rises again, he will bring the underworld with him. If Isis manages to resurrect him, he will unleash Hell on earth," Sandra said grimly.
Metropolis
Night
At a warehouse, a loading bay door was lifted up. Isis entered the warehouse, looking around.
"Hey!" she turned around as a security guard ran over to her. "What are you doing here?!"
Paying him no mind, Isis grabbed him by the throat and tossed him into a crate a few feet away, which crumbled like sandpaper. Hearing a sound, Isis turned around, scanning the room until she found a crate a few feet away.
"Osiris. You are here," Isis said lowly as she began to approach the crate.
Crating the top of the crate, Isis ripped it clean off before moving the hay inside aside. Within seconds, she had found what she was looking for. She pulled out the burial jar out of the crate, looking at it lovingly.
"I have missed you for so long," Isis said.
Hearing a sound, Isis turned her head, seeing Cat walked out from behind a crate.
"What is this?" Isis sneered.
"Two stories for the price of one. I won't allow you to get away with another crime Blur, at least not without snapping proof of it first," Cat said as she raised her phone to do just that.
Annoyed, Isis raised her hand, which began glowing. At that moment, Clark sped in. Seeing what was about to happen, Clark grabbed Cat and sped out.
A second later, Cat blinked and found herself sitting at a table outside a café. She looked around in bewilderment.
Clark sped back to the warehouse but found Isis was gone. Walking over to the crate Isis had opened, he realized that Isis had found Osiris's heart.
Speeding out the door, he looked around but didn't see any sign of Isis. Clark pulled the door Iris had damaged down, leaving no sign of any damage. Clark then sped off.
Unknown to him, Isis had been watching from a rooftop a few miles away, her eyes glowing and catlike. They returned to normal and Isis smirked.
Hope you all liked my origin story for Isis and Osiris.
How Paige came to be in possession of the amulet will be revealed next chapter.
