Before we get started, let's take a moment to remember John Romita Sr., who sadly passed away on Monday. May he rest with Stan Lee and the other legends in the sky.

TW: Nothing good.

Plane

Morning

On his private plane, Oliver sat in his seat, deep in thought. Across from him, Kara sat down, equally quiet.

"Well, I guess there's no denying it. We blew it," Oliver said with a heavy sigh.

"We couldn't have known Goodness was following us," Kara disagreed.

"No, but if we'd spent a little more time being aware of our surroundings instead of reveling in our success. You have super hearing, you couldn't hear her coming?" Oliver asked incredulous.

"Hey, this isn't my fault Oliver," Kara disagreed.

"I'm not saying it is. I'm saying we screwed up. That weapon was our only chance at stopping Darkseid. Now…" Oliver trailed off.

"Like you said we'll find another way to beat him. Clark will," Kara said with certainly.

"I hope so. Otherwise we are all dead," Oliver said before his phone started ringing. "Bet that's the Boy Scot now."

Indeed, it was Clark. After a moment of hesitation, Oliver answered.

"Hey Clark," Oliver said uncertainly.

"Tell me you found the Bow of Orion," Clark said in urgency.

"Good news, Kara and I found it," Oliver said.

"Kara, what – never mind. What's the bad news?" Clark asked, knowing something had happened.

"Granny Goodness is apparently out and about. She followed us and the moment we found the bow, she turned it to ash," Oliver said regretfully and heard silence on the other line. "Clark? You still there?"

"Yeah, yeah I'm here. We just needed the bow, now," Clark said and Oliver heard the tone in his voice.

"What's going on Clark? Something happen?" Oliver asked after a moment.

"Yeah. Zankou has the Book of Shadows," Clark said with a heavy.

"The what?" Oliver asked in confusion.

"It's a spell book; it's been in Paige's family for centuries. It's considered to be one of the most powerful and knowledgeable spell books in the history," Clark explained.

"And now Zankou has it?" Oliver asked in alarm.

"Not just him. Darkseid. Zankou let slip that they've been working together, that's why he's been coming after me," Clark explained and Oliver and Kara looked at each other startled.

"So you're saying Darkseid has his hands on the most powerful spell book in the world?" Oliver asked, wishing he would wake up from this nightmare right now.

"I've been up half the night, looking for Zankou in the Underworld. There's no sign of him," Clark said with a sigh.

"We'll be back as soon as we can. We'll need all hands on deck for this. Whatever Zankou and Darkseid want with the book, it can't be good," Oliver said grimly.

Same time

Zankou was going through the Book of Shadows when a voice spoke up.

"Is that it?"

Zankou looked up, smiling as Godfrey and a young man with blond hair and a slight beard walked over.

"Godfrey, Desaad. Yes, this is the Book of Shadows," Zankou said as he got to his feet, closing the book.

"Is it there?" Desaad demanded and Zankou smirked.

"We have everything we need. All we need to do now is wait for Granny before we get this show on the road, as they say," Zankou said with a sinister laugh.

Luthor Mansion

Not long after

In the burnt remains of the mansion, Tess was looking over some plans she had for them when a voice spoke up.

"I see you're living up to your Luthor name. Last heir to the dark dynasty," Tess looked up to see Goodness looking down at her proudly from the stairwell.

"I'm rebuilding this mansion to make it a symbol for something good. To change the way people see us, and the Luthor legacy. Why are you here?" Tess demanded as Goodness made her way down the steps.

"I shouldn't be here, but I couldn't help myself. Look at you, all grown up," Goodness said with a proud smile. "I always wanted to be there for you, a loving mother."

"You were never my mother," Tess said coldly.

"You were special," Goodness said as if Tess hadn't spoken. "Every soul on Earth charts its own destiny, each decision tipping it towards the light or the darkness. I could always tell which side of the balance my girls would fall to, but you were different. You were born to darkness, yet you yearned for the light."

"Being a Luthor doesn't determine my fate," Tess said angrily as she began packing up her stuff.

"Then you must listen to me. I can't bear to see you suffer," Goodness said, becoming desperate as Tess turned around and walked away. "I want to give your soul eternal life. Please, Lutessa, let me save you!"

Tess stopped cold, turning around to face Goodness. This wasn't a social call, Tess realized.

"From what?" she demanded.

"Darkseid's Apakolips. Evil in its purest form, the heart of human nature obscured over time as something to be cast away rather than embraced," Goodness said as she walked up to Tess. "Hades, Kali, even the word Lucifer is an old Latin phrase meaning Morningstar, bringer of light. I'm afraid the centuries and translation have twisted Darkseid's true gifts. But before the end of days, Darkseid's rapture will be the only salvation."

"I will never join you," Tess said firmly and Goodness's face fell.

"Farewell, my child," Goodness said, looking at her sadly before turning and walking away.

"Wait," Tess called and Goodness paused. "When? When is this Hell coming?"

"It's not coming Lutessa. It's upon us," Goodness said before leaving, Tess realizing what she'd meant.

Magic School

Later that morning

"Please tell me you found them," Paige pleaded, she ,her sisters and Leo watching as Clark walked in.

"I searched the entire Underworld top to bottom, no sign of Zankou," Clark said to their dismay. "And it gets worse."

"Worse? How can get it get worse?" Phoebe asked incredulously and Clark grimaced.

"I called Oliver. Granny Goodness followed him and destroyed the bow," Clark admitted.

"You mean our one weapon that could have stopped Darkseid is gone?" Piper asked in alarm and Clark nodded.

"This was planned. Zankou and Darkseid knew what they were doing. Only thing I can't figure out is why they want the Book of Shadows," Clark noted.

"I think I might," Leo revealed and they all turned towards him. "There's a Power of Three spell in the book, it can open a portal to another world."

"Why would Zankou want that?" Paige inquired but Clark caught on.

"He wouldn't, but Darkseid would," Clark said and Leo nodded.

"While I was looking for the Bow of Orion, I found a lot of references to Darkseid. He rules a world called Apakolips, he has an army there. If they can access the spell and open a portal to Apakolips-"

"He can send his army through," Piper realized.

"Wait, you said it's a Power of Three Spell. They would need three witches with our powers," Phoebe protested.

"Maybe not. In reading up on Darkseid, I found out he has three Prophets, three people endowed with dark power," Leo explained. "It's possible that, working together, they could substitute for the Power of Three."

"And Darkseid can unleash the end of the world," Piper whispered as they all caught on to Darkseid's plan.

"I need to get back to Metropolis. We'll need all hands on deck," Clark said as the sisters got up.

"And we should head back to the house. We need to find Zankou and the book. Hopefully before Zankou can give it to the Prophets," Piper said firmly.

Watchtower

Not long after

Chloe was in Watchtower, looking down at her phone and waiting for Oliver to call when the door burst open. She jumped as Tess burst into the room.

"Tess, what's wrong?" Chloe asked, seeing the look on Tess's face.

"We need to access our eye in the sky, now," Tess said in alarm.

"Okay, first, tell me what's going on," Chloe said.

"I got a visit from Granny Goodness, I'm sure Clark and Oliver have told you about her. She says Darkseid is about to make his big move. We need our eye in the sky Chloe," Tess said and Chloe paled.

"Okay, accessing Chloe-2. Let's see what's out there," Chloe said as she typed away.

Tess and Chloe looked over at the screen, watching as their satellite picked up an object from deep space, headed towards Earth.

"What is that?" Chloe wondered.

"I don't know, it's too big to be an asteroid though," Tess said before remembering something. "Watchtower, can you access the Orbiter's video feed?"

"Manhunter has put the new space station online, per your request," an automatic voice said.

"Wait, space station?" Chloe asked in confusion as Tess walked over to one of the screens, beginning to type at the keyboard.

"Considering how often we face alien invasions, I thought it might be a good idea to have our own Watchtower in the sky," Tess said as she typed away. "Curtesy of our favorite Martian."

An image pops up on the screen and Chloe and Tess stare at what appeared to be of a planet heading towards Earth.

"Is that…" Chloe trailed off.

"Apakolips."

The women jumped, startled as Clark appeared behind them.

"Sorry," Clark apologized.

"Let me guess, you know what's going on?" Tess said knowingly and Clark grimaced.

"In short, the end of the world," Clark said with a sigh.

"Where have you been?" Godfrey demanded as Goodness walked in.

"Trying to save one last soul," Goodness said blackly.

"It doesn't matter. She's here now, it's time," Zankou said as he grabbed the Book of Shadows.

Opening the book to the page with the spell, Zankou handed the book to Godfrey. Desaad and Goodness walked up on either side of him and then, they began to speak as they read from the book.

"Hear our call, barriers fall. Forces of nature, let our power nurture. As our hearts beat, let our worlds meet."

Once the words had been spoken, there was a flash of light followed by a gust of wind. And then, there was a huge portal in the center of the room and Zankou smiled as Parademons began flying out of the portal.

"We've done it my friends. Now, it's time to bring this world to its knees," Zankou said with an evil laugh.

Well, things just went from bad to worse. See you next chapter as our heroes face the fight on their lives.
