Hi, so this is my first story for this pairing and I have to admit I am liking it so far so let's see where it goes! I hope you all enjoy this story and this chapter.

Leah is criminally underused and criminally treated. She's the Rosalie of the Wolf Pack. Seriously the shit that she goes through because she's not skipping at the idea of being Emily's maid of honour (and seriously what the fuck possessed Emily to ask that? Like seriously Stephanie). So this story is a love letter to Leah.

I also have a huge amount of respect for Embry's Mom. Not sorry. Also I know she has a different name in the books to here but here she is Layla and she was seventeen when she got pregnant.

Also on Embry's father...I know a lot people assume it is Joshua Uley but somehow that seems to nice and neat, I also think it's pretty ironic, that both Jacob and Quill end up being friends with a kid who might be their half brother. So my views on Embry's Dad is that is has to be one of them and I do tend to lead towards Billy just for reasons I can't name. The council bit deciding whose parents should know and who doesn't is my own and I know it does not correlate with the books but then again this whole story is AU so (shrugs), I just think it's a fun angle to explore that everyone is terrified with who Embry's father could be.

Again, all of this is my own design, the characters belong to someone else, I am just playing in my writers box.

Disclaimer-Nothing here is mine.

Please Read and Review.

And on a side note, I like so many other Fanfiction Authors no longer receive notifications via email about reviews/PMs etc. So if you do send any it might be a while, if ever before I get back to you. Please keep that in mind for it is not intentional-If anyone has a fix please let me know.

Also I do not do Private Messaging anymore, any questions stick them in a review and I will get back to you next chapter note.

Also on a separate note-I HATE Bella in this part of the book, she does genuinely gaslight Jacob and It's explained as it all being the baby's fault. I know that some of it is on Nessie but I do believe that Bella didn't care much about his feelings. She does seem to walk through the books thinking that she can have her cake and eat it and while I actually do sympathise with Edward on this one I notice that he never does anything to stop her which is pretty ironic considering he was lowkey abusing Bella in Eclipse.

So if you are looking for sympathy in the next couple of chapters for Bella Swan then skip em. Because both Leah and Embry are going to give her some much deserved home truths.

And for reasons posted above, I enjoyed this chapter very much.

Jacob and Edward's conversation about changing Bella deeply irritates me, it's like he knows that Jacob needs time and he half stalks the man, Edward needs such a hard boot in the backside during the books it's unreal.

A First Time For Everything

Chapter 11-Yesterday Died And Tomorrow Won't Be Born

Jacob gets some home truths from Embry. Because that's what brother's do. And then Bella drops her cup.

"What the hell was that?"

Embry had been sat in the Cullen's garage twirling a spare spanner around in his hands when Jacob had come looking for him and he smiled grimly. Jacob was always coming back. That was what was so tragic about the whole thing. That was the problem with the whole thing. Jacob was always going to come back. He just…he just shouldn't have too. And again that was half the problem with it. That was half the problem with what came with Edward and Bella and the nightmare that was their relationship with everyone who was in the relationship with them. To everyone who was sat on the side lines watching the nightmare play out in front of them.

Like him, like Leah, like Jacob, like Seth, like everyone who had ever told Bella to stop, who had told Edward to stop.

And here was the proof in the pudding. Him sat there twirling a spanner around in his hands in a garage that was decked out in more cars, more fancy cars than he had ever seen in his life.

(But no…seriously…the cars…oh the cars…there were a couple here that he was quite prepared to defend more than the actual Cullen's and that was saying something considering the mess they were in)

"See you've come back" Embry said from where he was sat on the floor. "Been up to the house have you?"

"Didn't have too he was waiting for me when I pulled up. Told me what had happened. Didn't seem to like it too much. Apparently Bella was so bad afterwards Carlisle had to threaten to drug her before her heart crapped out. That got her to calm down, she still won't let anything harm the…"

"Baby?" Embry finished for him. "You know that's what Edward's calling it now too. A baby"

"Are you?"

"Hell no, I don't know what that thing is but until I see ten fingers, ten toes and it not break someone's ribs because it's board I am not calling it a baby. Don't get me wrong Jake I don't wish Bella dead. I would like her to get through this in one piece or as close to it as she could but the truth of the matter is I just don't believe in it."

Jacob said nothing for a second and then…

"Edward said you know. About…about…"

"About your little plan? About you killing him the second Bella died?"

Jacob made a shushing noise but Embry rolled his eyes. "Oh please" he said shaking his head. "Please don't give me that Jake, you and I both know that isn't going to happen now so what's the point? I don't think it was going to happen then you know. If what you said was true then he's already had one run in with the vampire cops over a suicide attempt. You think the Doc and his brothers weren't going to watch him like a hawk. The second Bella and the thing died then Alice's vision becomes free and if Edward suddenly blurs out of it again it's not hard to figure it out. If I could do it, if Seth could do it then why can't they?"

And suddenly the fight went out of Jacob Black and he sat down next to Embry. He was carrying a burden that was not meant for a man of his age Embry mused a little romantically. All this…all this over Bella Swan.

He did not like the woman. He really, really did not like the woman.

He did not know anyone who did right about now.

Except maybe this man sitting next to him.

"I can take care of myself" Jacob said quietly. "You know that"

"Doesn't mean we can't have you back. Leah said nothing that wasn't the truth anyway. Neither did I. If were better people we might have said it months ago but Sam…Sam kinda felt sorry for her. You misinterpreted it as anger but in truth I think he always felt sorry for her."

Jacob blinked.

"Why?"

"You think Sam doesn't know what it is like to love two people at once? To have feelings for someone and want them by your side but to also know that the love that you feel for them won't match the love that they have for you? You think Sam of all people doesn't understand that Bella has been having her cake and eating it for so long and that it's not really her fault? Edward left her bleeding and when he came back she went back. You stitched her up and when that happened you had to rip yourself open. I don't see the appeal, I don't like it. I wish someone had told her back then. But I don't think it would have made any difference, you told her to stay away and she kept coming back"

"I wish she had stayed away" Jacob said quietly. "I do…sometimes I just…I wish he hadn't have left. I know that I could have made her happy—"

"No you couldn't have—"

"Em—"

"You couldn't have made her happy" Embry said. He was not confident of much when it came to Bella and Jacob and their nightmare relationship but he was confident enough of that. "You could not have made her happy. She was never going to be happy with anyone but him. She'd have given it her best shot but she wouldn't have been happy and you'd have killed yourself trying and she could have been forty five with three children and a twenty year marriage to you and if he'd have come back she'd have dropped you like a stone. Because it was always her for him. Same way it's always my Dad for my Mom."

There it was. Out finally, wide in the open, the truth. The wide and encompassing truth.

"When this is over I'm gonna ask her" he said and it was only to Jacob that he was going to say this to. Jacob turned to look at him and Embry shrugged. "I know it's going to hurt you, or Quill, I don't think Sam will care to be honest but I know that It might hurt you and him and…and I've been thinking about it and I can't not know. It doesn't make a difference, I don't want a relationship with him either way. I just…I need to look him in the eye and tell him that, I need to look him in the eye Jacob I need to stop knowing. I'm done being in the dark. I need to know. Please don't alpha gag me from this"

For a second Jacob blinked at him and then he nodded. "Okay" he said slowly. "Okay"

"Your gonna be okay if it's your Dad? Cause we've never talked about it before. Not really and if it is—"

"I won't be okay if my Dad cheated on my Mom. But the truth is I don't…in terms of the situation that we are in…I don't see a way out of it. I don't see a way out of it. And right now you are not even on the list of problems"

Embry said nothing for a second and then.

"You know that you have to give permission for him to change her"

"Why? He's gonna do it anyway. That's what he wanted to talk to me about, in between bitching about you and Leah and how he wanted to chuck her across the river he started to tell me that he has chosen a due date, tomorrow morning. The baby wants out, doesn't understand why…doesn't understand apparently why it's trapped so it's kicking and breaking her from the inside out. Edward doesn't want to wait. And then with the birth comes the transformation. The woman I love, the girl I fell in love with, the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with won't exist past nine o clock tomorrow morning. I asked for some time but he's waiting…I know that he is waiting" he trailed off and Embry gripped him with the all the strength that he could muster and wrapped his arms around him as Jacob buried his head in his knees and started to softly cry.

For a long moment they stayed there and then there was a knock on the door.

"Fuck off" Embry said in warning but the door opened a little and there was Edward Cullen who to his credit looked as if he would rather be anywhere but here.

Embry knew the feeling and he was up on his feet blocking Jacob from view while Jake wiped his eyes.

"What?" he snapped and Edward looked at him and the dark eyes were anguished.

"I'm sorry" was all he said. "I am I…believe me if I had any way of stopping…of not asking…Carlisle thinks I should give you time but Jacob—" he was all but wringing his hands at his point and Embry wanted to scoff and demand that he leave but it was too much.

"Embry I am sorry but we don't have time"

"Yes you do" "Embry said firmly. "You have until nine tomorrow. You've been prepared for this for months, you can give him more time. You keep asking and asking and asking, you have to give us time"

"Ja—"

"What more do you want?" Jacob asked a little brokenly. "Edward I don't have anything more to give you, you've took pretty much everything that I have."

"Go" Embry said firmly. "Go"

"She wants to see you"

"I bet she does" Embry said before he could stop himself and Edward sighed.

"I won't pretend I understand it" he said and Embry could be magnanimous and acknowledge that the fact that his wife wanted another man was hard for Edward too. "But she wants to see you…she…she wants to…

"If he goes I go"

Edward shot him a look but Embry raised an eyebrow. "Try it Edward seriously. Just fucking try me"

Edward stared at him for a long second and then nodded his jaw tight.

"I don't…it wasn't just Bella upset by what was said" he said finally. "Carlisle and Esme…the last thing they want is for you to not be able to go home from this. Believe me they hate this, they hate the fact that they are the centre of attention when it comes to this. They want to be…well…I suppose it doesn't matter now." He paused and Embry raised an eyebrow. They would go in when they wanted to not before. If Jacob needed time then Jacob was gonna get time.

He nodded and then left.

"Give it five minutes and he will be back" Jacob said quietly. "He can't risk upsetting Bella. Not now"

Embry snorted.

"Let it go mate" Jacob said getting to his feet. "Seriously I am not worth it, not in the grand scheme of things"

"You are worth it" Embry said. "You're my brother."

"Yeah" Jacob said finally. "You are and so…if it turns out to be that you are the real one then…then that's' fine too"

"Thanks Jake"

"Embry"

"Yeah?"

"I have eyes you know. And because you have been real supportive of me I will be real supportive of you and not say anything but…Leah? Really?"

Embry shot him a look.

"Yeah"

"Wow. Does she know?"

"No I don't…I just know how I feel you know? Not quite sure what she feels about it"

"My guess, she wants to. But then again I did think Bella was in love with me so…"

"Technically she was"

For a second they stared at each other and then they were both grinning.

"He really give you the keys to the Aston Martin Vanquish?"

"Yeah, any other car and I'd have crashed it on principle but I couldn't even scratch the paint"

"I bet. How'd it run?"

"Like a fucking dream, I kid you not I nearly cried."

Embry gave a low whistle. "You seen some of the stuff here?"

"Maybe the Doctor will get us a car for saving his family."

"Jacob, over there is that a Mercedes Guardian?"

Jacob whirled around so fast he gave himself whiplash.

"Fuck me"

It took them half a hour before they could drag themselves away and back up to the house.

"Where the hell did you get a Mercedes Guardian from?" Embry said as a way of greeting. "They aren't even in the country yet?"

It was part genuine curiosity and part desire to know because a Mercedes Guardian was one of those cars that the Europeans always got first and the average poor Car and Driver reader dreamt about.

Blondie looked up.

"Oh you had better not dirtied it up with your grubby fingerprints"

"Nah" Embry said sitting on the chair and watching as she tracked his dirty feet. "But Jake did key the Aston Martin"

Blondie almost swayed with rage. She looked to Jacob and so did Embry but Jacob was looking at Edward and then Edward visibly relaxed.

Ah. So he had made the decision then.

"Jake"

"Not now Bells, I don't…not now okay?"

He sounded so very tired but Embry knew it was going to get worse before it got better. They were in the home stretch now. They could feel it.

Bella nodded her bottom lip wobbling. She looked at Embry and then looked away. In hindsight that was a very good idea. There was more chance of her getting support from his mother than getting support from him at the minute. Which reminded him…his mother…shit. He had not called her today.

"Carlisle called her" Edward said quietly. "She's…she wants to come and see you."

"Oh boy"

"Yeah well…It was mentioned that she might want to wait a day but…I don't know. She seems…very…motherly and intense"

Embry snorted.

"Yeah she's both of those things all right"

"I think she might have talked Carlisle into a trip to France as well fully funded"

Embry thought of his mother and thought that was probably not out of the realm of possibility.

He tuned out Bella and Rosalie (see he did learn things) discussion on baby names which was good because Edward Jacob might have made him lose it again when Bella stood up to go to the bathroom.

And then she dropped her cup.

It fell on the floor and she stared at it bending down and then there was a tiny ripping sound. It was like cotton being ripped apart. It was so soft that Bella no doubt had not even heard it. For a second though she went still and Edward opened his mouth his eyes dark and it was like watching a horror film in slow motion as she fell backwards into his arms, there was a gurgling sound and Embry watched as she turned to look at him or perhaps even through him and with a gurgling sound from deep within her Bella Swan opened her mouth and vomited nothing but blood directly at his feet.

And yeah, there you go, let me know what you think.

Next Chapter-It's a race to get Bella to give birth. Embry in the aftermath reaches his breaking point. But it is not over yet.
