Hello, so here I am again with another story again for Rosalie and Emmett a criminally underrated couple. This time we are in a New Moon setting for a smaller story of about 17 chapters all taking place from the Volterra arc. So yeah an AU but only a little bit.

(As if that makes a difference!)

A side note on the relationship with Alice. As I have previously stated as I grow older I find that I struggle with the character of Alice the most. I do see her actions sometimes as toxic and while I don't believe Stephanie intended for her to be written that way sometimes I just want to reach through the pages and shake the vampire until she understands certain things. This was a way of getting all of that out. If you love Alice and think she can do no wrong this might not be the best story for you. Her relationship with Rosalie and how she and Edward treat Rosalie is something I have addressed many a time throughout my fics and stories but I hope that you enjoy nonetheless. This is not intended to be an Alice bashing fic, this is just for me to have my say as an ardent Rosalie fan. For all Alice lovers out there I hope that you understand and I am hopeful that one day I will learn to re-like Alice again.

This is not one hundred percent cannon, if you are looking for word for word perfect scenes out of the book then I am not the author for you, this is my interpretation of these events.

There will be trigger warnings for this story and keep in mind a hell of a lot of swearing for what is in the books, also some interpretation on Rosalie and Emmett's past. This also might turn into an M Rated story depending on how I take it. Again something to keep in mind as we progress.

Some events might be missed from the book as well but the bare bones of it still remain.

Also spelling/grammar etc...not my strongest point. Again something to take note off.

Disclaimer-Nothing is mine.

Please Read and Review.

And on a side note, I like so many other Fanfiction Authors no longer receive notifications via email about reviews/PMs etc. So if you do send any it might be a while, if ever before I get back to you. Please keep that in mind for it is not intentional-If anyone has a fix please let me know.

Also this chapter is based more on the movie than the book, in the movie it all happens in the space of one night and so that's what's happening in this story. Rest of the time it should be a pretty even spread between the two.

And some TRIGGER WARNINGS for Bella's depression (seriously don't get me started on what that turns to in Eclipse) and Rosalie's past.

Also, there is something about Chelsea, her character and her actions and her gift that repels me, I know we do not get a lot of insight into her during the books or the film but when I hear about what she can do it turns my stomach. It really does remind me of cohesive control and so for Rosalie who has been in a relationship like that I could so see her taking this bitch on when it came to the battle in Breaking Dawn (movie and film). Again with Heidi.

And we have only four more chapters left! Next time we go back to Emmett for a while.

Chapter 13-No Good Deed Goes Unpunished

Rosalie, Edward and Bella are on a plane, Rosalie calls Emmett.

"You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do." Eleanor Roosevelt

She sat on the plane and waited until they had hit the air and then she poked her head over the seat. Bella was still there, Edward was still there. She had nobody sitting next to her simply because she had paid for four seats. She didn't want anyone overhearing this conversation and so when it was clear that Edward and Bella were only interested in each other she flipped her credit card up and down the phone and then dialled the one number of the man she had wanted to hear from more than anything.

It rang once.

And then…

"Rosalie? Who is this…Rosalie?"

She let his voice wash over her even though he was harried and broken sounding, she had never loved him more than she had loved him at this moment, every line of desperation hit her like knives but at the same time her body just collapsed and relaxed all at once. Emmett…

Emmett…

Emmett…

"Emmett"

The second the word was out of her mouth she heard something down the phone that sounded like a twisted kind of sobbing noise (if any of that made sense which she freely admitted it didn't) and she closed her eyes against the urge to smash down the pilot's doors and fly the plane herself which she supposed would be rather alarming for the other passengers considering she couldn't fly.

"Rosalie" Emmett said down the phone and she had to twist her face away least anyone see the anguish on her face. Survival or not, nobody was seeing the Ice Queen melt.

Nobody but this man on the phone with her.

"Emmett" she said again and just the very word, just the fact that they could hear each other's voices down the phone, the simple desire that they had for each other…that was enough. She could hear his ragged breathes down the phone and she clung to each and everyone of them not one hundred percent sure that this was not a dream and she wasn't going to wake up in some basement chained to a wall the rapebait of another man who thought that no didn't mean no.

"Are you alright?" Emmett said finally and her heart broke for him again, this darling man who was trying so hard to be brave and yet was splintering down the phone and she nodded before reminding herself that he couldn't actually see that.

"Were fine, all of us. We got out, even Bella. They…they didn't even try to hurt us. I don't think Aro ever wanted too. I just…were on our way home, we are coming home, all of us"

It was still such a miracle to say such things out loud. Even now she was not sure that this was not a pipe dream that was going to fall apart at the first hurdle.

"Your coming home" Emmett repeated his voice trembling a little as if he could hardly believe it even though she suspected they had been watching this play out in Alice's visions since the second she had stepped out of the shadows. She gritted her teeth together. Even now she was not one hundred percent sure she was ever going to forgive Alice for this terrible lack in judgement, she was not sure she was going to forgive Edward for it either. She had a lot to forgive.

Rosalie supposed however that, that was that was why she had eons of time at her fingertips.

Providing Edward played ball that was.

"You know when we will be home?" she asked suddenly and Emmett blew out a breath down the phone.

"Yeah, Alice says you've been clear for hours"

"Bitch" Rosalie said without thinking and Emmett let out a week kind of chuckle.

"She's on the outs I'll give you that. It's taken every conceivable thing in me not to throttle her with one hand"

Rosalie huffed a laugh and then because she was not completely heartless.

"Tell Carlisle and Esme that Bella and Edward are alright."

"Oh they know. Alice has told them"

There was a line of bitterness in his voice that she didn't quite understand and she wanted to press further but before she could she was aware of eyes on her. The air stewardess caught her expression and Rosalie raised on perfectly arched eyebrow. The bitch made an exaggerated show of sticking on her in flight headphones and Rosalie took the victory where it was earned.

"Rose?"

"Yeah?"

"Tell me what happened?"

"Don't you know?"

She didn't mean to tease or in any way deflect but the truth was she was sure that they had all known what was happening. Alice had bloody known when she had to ring, Alice had bloody known what to do. It was beyond irritating.

And then just like that she heard a chorus of voices down the phone, it was as if Emmett upon seeing her call him had taken the conversation away from them but clearly patience was not a Cullen strong suit. To be fair it was mostly Jasper and Esme asking the questions. Rosalie didn't know what she would do if Alice asked her something not that Alice would need to ask her something and Carlisle…well…what Carlisle's lack of communication meant she simply could not think.

"Rosalie!"

"How'd you get out?"

"Where's Edward?"

"Were you on time?"

"- what about Bella -?"

"Where are you now?"

"Miss?"

"Yes" she snapped whipping down her phone to glare at the flight attendant. For good measure she tapped her foot against Edward's seat. Granted she was not sure that it would do him much good but it made her feel better. Stomping her foot through it like she wanted to do would likely catapult Bella through the cockpit doors.

What a funny thought.

"Phones are prohibited for the comfort and safety of passengers of this aircraft. Please refrain from use of your telephone until we reach our next destination. Thank you."

Rosalie thought that it was very sad that this was somebody's day job. She let her distain show in her face and took deep pleasure in the Karen from Hell taking two steps backwards.

Emmett who had heard every word no doubt growled down the phone.

"Put her on the phone"

"No"

"Rose—"

"Will you meet us at the airport?"

"Yes" he said finally. "We will be there and then you and I are getting out of this place and far, far away, I don't want…I don't want to be here"

The woman coughed and Rosalie held up a finger in the most condescending way possible…truly shit like this and she was her mother's daughter through and through. Pity the bitch was long dead.

But something had happened her that she couldn't put her finger on. Something between Emmett and the rest of the family. Emmett who loved all of the Cullen's indeed a little too much was suddenly running away from them? That was very odd, that was a very, her, thing to do.

"Miss"

"My husband" she said through gritted teeth. "Has just had a rather nasty shock. And believe me my good woman the last thing you need is me suing this airline and you back to the stone age because you didn't let me speak to him. Now I am hanging up but only when I am satisfied that he is not going to be in mortal peril—" here Emmett snorted. "When I do"

Such was the look on the her face no doubt that the woman gulped.

"God I missed you" Emmett confessed weekly. "I thought I wouldn't get a chance to hear you voice every again. Rose I…"

"I know" she said because it was much the same for her. "It's the same for me. I have to go now before Carlisle has to get involved. I'll see you when I land and then you will tell me everything you understand?"

"And so will you" he vowed and Rosalie smiled.

"Love you" she said quietly and she let the conviction ring true in her voice. .

"Right back at you angel." Emmett said fervently. "With everything that I am"

She hung up the phone and flipped the woman a finger. She was so gone on this man.

Just a few more hours, and she would be with him again. Just a few more hours to endure…

After what seemed like a century of waiting, the plane began to oh-so-slowly make its long descent to the ground. When the damn thing finally touched down, Rosalie was out of her seat before Edward and Bella had even moved. Bella had a row of used soda glasses on her little fold-down table; she'd obviously been drinking non-stop to keep herself awake, and Rosalie knew it was not because of the nightmares… she had wanted to keep herself awake, awake and with Edward until the very bitter end.

She might as well have spent the plane ride over to Italy speaking to the stewardess for all the good that it ahd done. Edward was going to snap his fingers and Bella was going to ask how high he wanted her to jump.

It was hard to believe that woman had once took the streets for this.

What a good job Edward had done. What a horribly mean and yet impressively good job.

They made our way through crowds upon crowds of grumbling, jet-lagged people, down a stairwell and then in through security which took longer than even she had patience for. It was like she could smell him, taste him on the air. Emmett was here she knew he was and she was going to melt like sugar in a sauce pot at the sight of him.

She took her passport of the gawking twit behind the plastic counter and turned and all but power walked down the stairs. She ignored Edward and Bella, she ignored everyone and anyone around her. She knew he was here, she could feel it in her very bones. He had never let her down and he was not going to let her down now.

And then some twit in a Lakers jacket moved to the side and she could see him.

She could see all of them.

Japer and Alice at the back holding hands Alice's other hand on her temple. Esme sat on the arm of a couch, Carlisle standing next to her holding her hand tightly as they looked no doubt for the prodigal son's return (not her, never her) and then…there he was. Leaning against a wall his eyes closed as if he could not bare to look and then just as her eyes clapped on his it was like he had a warning bell in his brain go off and the dark eyes starved from lack of feeding she thought tenderly opened and clapped eyes with hers.

For a split second they stared at each other and then her bag was on the floor and Emmett in a speed that was too close to giving away what they were had crossed the room and lifted her up and her legs crossed around his waist and she buried her face in his neck and gave a little sob, clutching at him with enough strength to break, breathing in his scent, burrowing her face in his neck and hiding away from the rest of the world his touch gently washing over her like warm water.

"Thank God" Emmett said thickly into her mass of blonde hair. "Thank God baby"

She nodded as he pulled her hair back pressing kisses to her cheek, to her eyes, to her eyebrow, down her nose and then into her plunging, aching, gasping mouth.

It was better than human blood.

It was not as passionate as she liked, if she'd had her way Emmett would be flat on his back right now but it was as passionate as they got in public, always with an undercurrent of more running through it. She pulled back staring at him and the features of the man she adored. The only man she had ever loved. The first love of her long life and the last.

For without Emmett she had never known what love was.

Not the arty farty immigration, cheap, vulgar kind she thought that she had, had with Royce but the pure coin of gold that ran underneath it all. The thing she had wanted but had never known existed.

"Angel" Emmett said quietly and she knew that something was wrong here, something had knocked her husband to the core today and she nodded brushing her knuckles down his face and he caught the back of them with his mouth.

"Emmett"

"Rose"

"I know" she said burrowing her head in his neck as Esme in the distance finally let go of Edward.

"Never again" Emmett mumbled into her neck. "Never, fucking, again. I have…never again promise me"

"Never" she said quietly and she started, actually hand to God fucking started when she felt a hand on her shoulder. Emmett shifted with a growl and the look he shot Carlisle was nothing short of murderous and that too set her instincts sparking off like wires because never before had she seen Emmett, the one of Carlisle's sons who had been the first to call him the moniker of Dad and really mean it outside a pretence, had never looked at him like that.

Carlisle looked…old. It was odd. He was as immortal as the rest of them but now she thought he looked old. But he raised his hands in surrender and then turned to Rosalie his smile the same as always.

"Rosalie" he said quietly and it shouldn't matter how desperate she was for a hug off him but she was.

"Carlisle"

"Da—are you okay?"

"No harm done. Aro sends his best"

Carlisle rolled his eyes.

"We should…we should go home. Are you…are you coming home?"

She frowned not sure of the question.

Of course they were going home, where else would they go.

But she realised a little late that he was not asking her that question but Emmett.

Emmett turned dropping her to the ground and the look he shot Alice was enough so that she was scampering back behind Jasper her eyes anguished.

"For now" he spat and Carlisle sighed.

"She does feel terrible" he muttered.

"Yeah" Emmett snarled loud enough for the rest of them to hear. "So she damn well should be. So should you" he spat in Edward's direction and Edward looked at Emmett for a long moment and then nodded turning his face away as if he could no longer stand listening to Emmett's thoughts.

"We'll go in my car" Emmett said turning to Carlisle. "I don't know when we will be back but before dawn"

Carlisle opened his mouth (clearly this was not what he would like) but then he nodded.

"Okay son"

Emmett gave another snort and Carlisle looked as if he had been backhanded across the face.

Rosalie was missing something here she was sure of it.

"You okay to walk?"

"Emmett"

Emmett nodded. "I just…I need a minute" he said into her hair and she nodded and allowed him to pull her away from the family back towards the car. She climbed in and they were off going at a speed limit that was questionable at best and reckless at worst until they reached the tell tale sign of Forks.

At the edge of the forest where the car could not be found he dumped it and climbed out and then he was running and she followed him.

Something was wrong here.

Something was very, very wrong here.

But damn if she was not going to find out what it was.

And then…then she was going to put her husband back together again.

And there you go! Hope you enjoy.

Next Chapter-Emmett finally lets loose his emotion. Fortunately Rosalie is always there to catch him in the aftermath.
