As the weeks passed, the contestants on Total Drama Island diminished with each challenge. Some choices weren't hard, especially if one screwed up the challenge, but nothing could stop drama from happening. The only ones to see were the cameras everywhere like the nerdy Harold rigging the votes to get rid of Courtney in retaliation for Duncan bullying him.

Challenges were annoying, but Chris was more than happy to exploit them when tensions grew.

Gwen was fuming during these long eight weeks. Her rivalry with Heather was cemented after having her diary read out loud. That was going to be tough. Typically putting fire ants in revenge would settle things down, but the queen bee was stubborn, never one to cut a loss.

Evident when Heather and Gwen are paired for a challenge. They won, but it came at the cost of the latter's skirt being torn off, exposing her underwear for all to see. Hopefully, that was to be a one-time ordeal, not that the internet would forget.

Of course, Heather got it worse a challenge later, having her top ripped off by a tree branch. That made Harold's day, even when he was voted off.

One of the few contestants Gwen could call a friend was Trent, a musician at heart, who had a not-so-subtle crush on her. There was common ground, and while handsome, the boy respected boundaries when he heard about Danny. Lots of drama there.

The same was said for Cody, another boy into the loner girl, who became another friend to the goth. Too bad he had the crap beaten out of him by a bear, no less.

Trent had proven a loyal friend, but not even friendship could be seen as normal on set, least of all to the competitive Heather.

And that was made clear during a treasure hunt challenge. Each contestant was to find a key randomly assigned to them and open a chest. The locations varied from simple to dangerous, none more than Owen, who had to go into a local bear cave.

Gwen was looking over a skunk pit where her key was hidden. Looking over the home of her tiny but smelly problem, and by smelly, it was the spray that would give her a new meaning of the word disgusting. Gagging at he thoughts, she never heard company coming.

"Are you OK?" Trent came behind Gwen, looking over her shoulder.

"My key is in that stunk hole, and skunks really freaked me out," Gwen explained, cringing at the small cat-like mammal with held nostrils.

A key reflected light at her face as Trent showed his claimed key. "Listen, I already have my key. Let me help you out," he said, offering his assistance.

"That's practically impossible," Gwen said.

"You can pour water down the hole and flush them out," Trent said.

"Can skunks swim? "Gwen asked.

"Totally," Trent smiled.

"Cool." Gwen smiled back. She let go of her nose but quickly depicted it as she smelled the hole.

After a swift trip to the boathouse, Gwen and Trent came over with the largest bucket they could find. The girl wanted to be sure to flush the skunk out, using as much water as possible.

It worked smoothly as the odorous mammal was slid out of his home, mush to his panic and confusion.

With nothing stopping her, Gwen reached in to pull the key out, smiling at Trent.

"That was really cool of Trent to help me out. He's a good friend," Gwen said in the confessional. While the nasty outhouse smelled, that had been normalized, a fact ignored by everyone that visited it.

"The fact that Gwen is so smart and independent, coupled with the fact that she's incredible to look at, is just making me nuts. She rocks my world, so I'll take a stunk shot for her any day. And to Danny Fenton, you're one lucky guy," Trent confessed. During the last sentence, he winked and pointed a finger gun at the camera.

Gwen thanked Trent by hugging him, too grateful for words as her emotions got the better of her. As she left to go to wait for the others, Trent looked at Gwen and smiled in gratitude. Lingering feeling pulled his heart, but he shook them off, happy for the goth.

That was one of the reasons he was one of the coolest people on the island, his chill and mature attitude. While he had lost his cool before, namely with a challenge known as the brunch of disgustingness, the boy kept his head in the game.

However, this moment was not private and not in a you-just-did-that-on-camera way.

From a few feet away, Heather had been watching, noticed by Gwen and Trent.

"Awww! That's so cute," Lindsay cooed beside Heather. "It's just too bad Gwen has Danny." The girl then gasped as something came to her. "If she dumped Trent for Danny, what kind of guy do you think he is?"

Heather rolled her eyes in annoyance. Coming all the way to this point was made possible through cunning, and this queen bee knew how.

Using two contestants, she played a dangerous game of chess. The first girl, Beth, rebelled but was replaced. Only Lindsay had stayed, unaware of her situation. The blonde girl was what you'd call a princess. She was a beautiful blonde girl with a very developed figure and a good heart. Not much of a thinker, she followed Heather out of the thought they were friends.

"That doesn't matter," Heather said, eyeing Trent.

"While geeky goth girl has some loser back home, Trent is still totally loyal to her. It's obvious this is going to be another alliance," Heather said in the confessional. Her frustration was held in the air by her hands. "And my alliance is going to be the only alliance on this island."

Heather left, scheming on how to get Trent and Gwen separated. Flirting would have been the most likely ploy, but that could only work if Gwen had acted romantic toward Trent, such as kissing him. Walking around, the girl then remembered the glances the musician would send toward the goth, making her smile.

"Hey, Heather!" Came a voice.

Heather turned around to see Izzy, Beth's replacement, constricted by a rattlesnake, a relocated creature, courtesy of Chris. The snake's fangs were embedded into the girl. The bite did not seem to bother Izzy, who thought the snake was a friend. Questions were conjured but ignored as the queen bee led the girl to the piers, where Lindsay was seen.

Izzy was the crazy chick, or as anyone else would call her: the psycho hose beast. The decision to include her was debatable, but to be honest, Heather knew she was better off keeping an eye on her.

"Ok, listen up. We need to break up Trent and Gwen. Here's the plan. Lindsay, I need you to-" Heather paused as she noticed Lindsay, dripping wet with red spots. "What happened to you?"

Izzy tried to help. Bees stinging. Terror. Lost keys," Lindsay responded with despair as Heather glanced behind to notice the snake biting Izzy again, with no effect.

The queen bee ignored the moment as she resumed her plan. "Listen up, I need you to write a letter to Gwen."

After her first task, Lindsay lured Trent to the pier, where Heather was waiting. For the sake of things going smoothly, Izzy was given a break, mainly because it seemed she wouldn't let go of the snake. Its venom seemed now like a drug only the crazy would ever accidentally venture to as she did.

Or Izzy did not care. No one wanted to find out, especially Heather and Lindsay.

Tapping her foot, Heather looked at her wrist. Any watch that would have been there was vacant, but the habit seemed appropriate as she vented on how long it was taking Linday.

But eventually, she saw Trent, and it was time to put on an act. Rubbing a finger under her eye, she leaned into a post as the boy walked to her.

"Heather, what's wrong?" Trent asked. He knew the girl was bad news, but he did not have the heart not to help her in a time of need.

That was the thing about nice guys. To Heather, they could be sculpted like clay with the right touch. Such facades were easy for a girl who did anything to keep herself at the top.

"Gwen was confessing to the girls last night about Danny. It's been so long since they last met, and because you're so nice, she's going to dump him for you." Heather looked into Trent's eyes with crocodile tears. Her face was picture-perfect in its blend of sadness and joy.

"Really?" Trent could hardly believe his ears as he listened. Gwen never seemed like the girl to dump someone randomly.

"Yeah. And I know it's sad, but I couldn't help feeling so happy for her as she smiled. I know it seems bad, but I want you to know she wants to be with you. She just needs a push." Heather 'sniffled' as she went on. "You should be with her. Go to her and give her everything she deserves."

"Yeah, Heather, you're right. I'll tell Gwen how I feel right now," Trent said with a smile. He ran off to find Gwen, not noticing the grin on Heather's face.

Lindsay walked to her friend with a puzzled look. "I never heard Gwen say that," she said.

Meanwhile, Gwen was heading toward the pier, wondering what Trent wanted to talk about from the letter she got on her bed. It said it was important and she had a secret he knew he could share.

"I wonder what Trent wanted to ask me?" Gwen said to herself, looking over the note. Only as she headed towards the pier, nearing the end, Trent was seen as he came up to her. He had a smile on his face, like a kid who got just what he wanted for Christmas.

Gwen raised a brow as she stared at him, leaning away momentarily. Trent's behavior seemed too forward, even for a chill guy like him.

"I heard about everything. And I want you to know, I've felt the same thing for a while, even after finding out about Danny. I didn't want to ruin things, but now that you've changed your mind, I can't hold back anymore," Trent held onto the goth's shoulders.

"What do you-" Before she could say anything else, Trent kissed Gwen...on the lips.

While almost alright, the surge of surprise gave way to guilt and pain as Gwen pushed him away from her and glared at the musician. How dare he kiss her when she is still with Danny. What was wrong with him? She thought she and Trent were friends, and he went and crossed a line.

Trent was confused by why Gwen pushed him away when he kissed her. He looked into her eyes which had sighed anger and hurt in them.

"What the in the world are you doing?!" Gwen yelled, backing up.

"I heard you and Danny were gonna break up." Trent stated. He walked over with arms out but was pushed away after taking a few steps forward. He stumbled back, tripping over his feet as his face expressed his confusion, looking up at the huffing Gwen.

"Whoever told you that bull s(bleep) was lying to you!" Gwen stormed off with tears falling. She ran through the campgrounds to the girl's cabin. Grabbing hold of her pillow, the goth sobbed her wounded heart away.

Whatever feelings she had for Trent were mainly platonic. Having a friend was just as crucial as having love, and the boy crossed a line. But right now, to her, he was the biggest jerk for practically mildly throwing himself at her.

"Wait, Gwen, I can explain!" Trent shouted as he got up. He tried to catch up with her, only to trip over one of the broken boards.

He winced in pain, only able to watch as the girl disappeared. His heart twisted in pain, ripped into pieces by a chainsaw. Rolling onto his back, the boy wanted to stare into nothing, only for the sun's rays to almost blind him. The barely maintained board would have to be his punching bag as he sobbed at the pier.

Lashawna came into the girl's cabin, battered and bruised from fighting off two crocodiles guarding her key, placed in a goblet on top of a rock in the middle of a pond. All she had was a rickety bridge above them as she tried to get a good angle. But in the end, this girl had to kick butt.

The big girl was panting, partially exhausted, as she walked in. Seeing Gwen crying, her problems were pushed aside.

"Whatssup, girl?" Lashawna asked.

Gwen dug her head up from the pillow, noticing Leshawna's scratches.

"How'd you get all scratched up like that?" Gwen asked.

"Ha! You should see the crocidiles!" LKewshawna smiled proudly as she twirled the key in her finger. The girls took a seat and placed a hand on the goth's furthest shoulder. "What about you?"

After a few exchanges and Gwen told her everything that had happened. An enraged Leshawna ran out of the cabin, finding every camper she could. She went all over the island to find out who told Trent that lie. However, when she asked all the campers, there seemed to be a miscommunication.

"Trent kissed Gwen because someone said something they shouldn't," Leshawna said.

They thought Trent kissed Gwen because he didn't care about Gwen having a boyfriend. It was an unspoken rule with most teens: don't steal other's dates. And while the sister with 'tude went around investigating, the speakers signaled the end of the challenge.

As the campers gathered and opened their chest, it seemed Chris had "forgotten" to mention a few fake keys. Owen vocalized his complaints, stuck in the jaws of a bear, whom he shared a few tranquilizer darts with.

Heather watched as she got immunity from her chest, waving it around as she saw everyone glaring at Trent. This game was almost too easy, and she loved it.

The bonfire lit in the night as Chris brought in the ceremonial marshmallows on a plate, each representing a ticket, or whatever metaphor he'd use, that allowed one to stay on the island. He always took his time, dramatically tossing the squishy treats to the called-out camper.

Trent smiled, thinking about all the friends he had made over the weeks. Everyone was so cool, and even though he felt terrible about Gwen, he hoped to patch things up after the ceremony. His dreams were dashed as he saw the empty tray.

"I thought I was getting along with everyone?" Trent was surprised that this was happening to him, getting up in shock.

"That's right, take your relationship ruining butt back where you came from," Lashawna told him. She hugged Gwen with one arm, the latter angrily glaring at him. "That's what you get for butting into other people's relationships."

"But I was told you were breaking up with Danny," Trent replied, trying to beg for forgiveness.

"Yeah? By who?"Gwen snarked.

"Her." Trent pointed to Heather. The pretty girl waved her fingers with a confident smile as she watched.

That's when the three put two and two together.

"Aw, man. I'm such an idiot!" Trent slapped his head. "Gwen, I'm sorry for kissing you and thinking you and Danny would break up."

"I forgive you for what happened, and I'll try to win this game," Gwen said as Trent was escorted down the dock of shame to the boat of losers. He waved goodbye, wishing Gwen luck and to stay strong. But that still left some unfinished business.

Heather, proud of her work, stepped into the communal showers as the hot water ran over her body. The showers were a place she came to most often, a haven from the grossness of the camp as she was kept clean, beautiful, and popular.

She sang to herself as the steam covered her, but only minutes into the soak, the clear waters clogged with green as a foul odor encased her. Her body now felt as though it was merging with a garbage truck, overflowing as it accumulated more filth.

"What is this?!" Heather yelled, coughing as some of the nasty water got into her mouth.

She never noticed that Leshawna had rerouted the sewage into the pipes, but she felt the girl was behind it.

No one in the girl's cabin complained, happy about Heather's new smell, but they did kick her out for the night. And karma would come knocking at the semifinals.

The last three standing had been Gwen, Owne, and Heather. Despite losing all respect from the campers, the queen bee had reigned with her wit, even once teaming up with the goth girl.

The penultimate challenge was a triple dog dare contest, except the producers had nothing to do with the challenges. Instead, the voted-off campers came up with these terrible dares; many were grosser than anything Chris or Chef had in mind. Gwen and Heather struggled to do the dares, only taking them to avoid instant elimination, but Owen powered through, even eating dog food in the same manner as his dog.

Chris and Chef could barely hold their stomachs in for that.

Gwen was getting nowhere, and she needed to get rid of Heather. The two had gone through crazy to insane stunts ranging from annoying to deadly, such as Gwen rope walking over a pond of gators with meat racks. And that was when she struck a deal.

"If you help me take down Heather, I'll share my winning with you," Gwen whispered to Owen. The girl added that if she lost, she'd go for a box of donuts.

That was more than enough to win over the party animal and much to the despair of Heather. The queen bee tried to loophole her way around, but Chris said there were no rules. Seeing the queen bee slap herself silly was beyond funny, but seeing her kiss Chef's smelly sock in a puppet show had charm.

It was a long and extremely cathartic road as Gwen watched Heather complete dare after dare, humiliating herself to stay in the game. She even took being fired from a cannon into a pile of pig manure, with a full bucket of the stuff as a helmet.

But it was only after Lindsay's dare did Heather finally snap. And she was eliminated through the rules, which Chris said there was one.

Heather's scream could be heard from across the sea, where the voted-off campers were.

Gwen had never felt such joy in her life, smiling with glee. She shared this smile with Owen as the two were proclaimed the finalists, signing off the episode.

"Whoo-hooo!" Owen exclaimed, hugging Gwen. "We're in the finals!"

The boy could barely hold in his enthusiasm, racing around the camp as Gwen followed, trying to calm him down. If there was anyone the goth would want to lose to, it was Owen.

But as she left, Chris had a smug grin as he got out his phone, calling the producers. The sadistic host always stirred up a little extra drama if it was contractually allowed, but he was content leaving that to the campers to allow the maximum amount of realism his boss wanted, but he had an idea.

Gwen sat in the confessional, sharing her last thoughts as the last challenge was to begin. She was given a list of questions, answering them in order.

"What is it like being here for eight weeks? It sucked," Gwen said, showing various emotions as she went on. "The food here was just awful. The people here sucked. They are nothing but just backstabbing, manipulative, fame-hungry, dimwitted, certified insane, really weird, redneck, overbearing, goody-goody, know it all jerks. Luckily I met a few people that were saints. What would I be remembered for? My great personality. Ok, we're done here."

Chris stood between two bleachers as Owen and Gwen walked to him. They were now in the middle of the island. The seats had posters of the contestants, each on top of the rows. Gwen stared, wondering what this was about.

"Now it;s time to welcome the twenty campers who did not make it to the finals," Chris introduced as all former contestants walked in

Gwen met eyes with Trent, both sharing grief from all the drama and baggage. She could barely hold contact with him as she looked away.

"And for Gwen, I've asked the producers to bring in a special guest, just for you," Chris added.

Gwen wondered what Chris meant by a special guest. She heard the whirring of a chopper, pushing the air down as it landed nearby. The doors opened to reveal a blonde man stepping out with three others. The first two were a dark-skinned guy in his early 30s with short black hair and brown eyes wearing a black shirt with black pants with a pale-skinned guy of the same age with brown head and facial hair wearing glasses in plaid.

But it was the last person getting out that surprised her the most.

"Danny!?" Gwen said, in surprise to see her boyfriend here.
