Hawks sighed looking down at the map, he snapped a photo and sent it to Tokoyami from Mika's phone. He needed to hurry and get better so he could help with all of this. Mika had been quiet for a while, the turn of a page was the only indication she hadn't fallen asleep. He walked over and looked over her shoulder, "Did they die yet?"
Mika looked at him and rolled her eyes, "Hawks it's a history book...of course someone dies."
He twirled a strand of her hair around his finger, "Are they at least winning?"
"Yes," she chuckled, "I think they win this war...are you bored?"
"Maybe."
"Then let's watch a movie, your pick," she closed the book and set it aside.
Mika held the blanket close to her, "Is he the killer?"
Hawks grinned, "Mika, I'm not telling you the plot."
It had begun to snow outside, the sun was set. Hawks chose a scary movie. Mika had mentioned she hadn't seen one in years, he could see why. She would literally put herself in harms way without a second thought like a bad ass...but a scary movie? She was jumpy and on edge. She was currently curled up against his side, sharing the blanket. Well, that was her excuse after the first kill. He wouldn't tease her about it though, she was giving it her best shot.
She bravely made it to the end, cheering when the killer was shot. Hawks casually held her against him, flipping through another movie selection. She rested her head against his shoulder, "Hallie is determined to make me a hero."
"That's what I hear," he gave her a soft squeeze, "For what it's worth, I think you'd make a good one."
She sat up and looked at him, "Do you mean that?"
He nodded, meeting her eyes, "Yeah, I do. You're hearts in the right place, you just focus on beating yourself up too much for things you can't change."
"I'm working on it," her eyes left his as she settled back down.
"I know." He pressed play on another movie. Hallie had spoken to him about Mika and her idea. He wasn't going to push the topic. Mika seemed like the type to bite when she felt backed into a corner.
"Mika," came a soft voice in her ear, "wake up."
She opened her eyes and looked around. She wasn't sure when she had fallen asleep, but she was curled against something warm that was currently nudging her awake. Sitting up and rubbing her eyes, she yawned, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pass out."
He smiled, "it's fine. Let's go to bed."
Mika nodded and stood sleepily setting the blanket aside. Hawks chuckled following her to his room. She was cute when she was sleepy. His brows furrowed as he looked down, "What's this?"
"Hallie gave them to me to help when I overuse my quirk," she sleepily took the pill bottle and set them on the nightstand.
"Well that's generous of her," he watched Mika crawl into his sheets and lay back, her dark hair sprawled around her.
"I thought so too. It'll come in handy next time I save you," she smiled tiredly.
He scoffed with a smile as he turned out the light and settled down, "It won't happen again."
"Bet," she took a long breath. His scent and the feeling of the sheets relaxed her.
Hawks took his place against her and closed his eyes as her hand wound into his hair. She knew how to put him to sleep in a matter of minutes. It was an odd power to have over him, but for someone whose mind never stopped, it was a blessing. One he could get used to.
Recovery Girl smiled as she looked at the large red wing, "You can keep the brace off, but, no flying just yet, understand?"
Hawks smiled and nodded, "Yes ma'am," he carefully stretched it out, thankful for her quirk.
The woman smiled at Mika, "Keep him in line for a bit longer."
Mika smiled, "I will do my absolute best."
Hawks closed his front door and grinned, "Ugh it feels so much better without that brace." He knew he couldn't fly just yet, but, this was progress.
"Good, maybe you won't be a brat anymore," she teased standing from the table.
He strode up to her and looked down at her, "You think I'm a brat?"
"Hawks, you are a lot of things," she chuckled and looked at him.
"Like what," he crossed his arms with a smirk, "Gimme a list."
She rolled her eyes with a smile, "You're a Brat, Overgrown Child, stubborn ass man," her smile faded into a smirk, "A hero with the biggest heart in the entire world who tries to act like he doesn't care...I can keep going."
"I think I got the gist," he looked her over. Today she was dressed in black leggings, his personal favorite, and she had borrowed a long sleeve shirt from his closet. He enjoyed the sight of her in something that was his. "If I go somewhere for a bit, will you behave?"
"Where do you think you're going?"
"I have to go see a friend about these wannabe villain leagues," she opened her mouth but her put his finger on her lips, "It will be in a controlled environment."
Mika tilted her head and narrowed her eyes, "No fighting."
"None at all," he held up his hands, "I swear."
"Fine," she sighed, "But if you not back at a reasonable time, and I come looking for you..."
He grinned, "Don't be a tease," he kissed her cheek and headed to grab a jacket, "I promise it'll be quick."
Mika blushed, watching him walked away. He caught her off guard with that one. He had kissed her hand the other night after he was being stubborn about taking a pain pill. She wasn't opposed to his affections, well, she didn't think she was. There was a lot she wasn't sure about with him and this whole being a hero thing.
