Hawks sat quietly in the sealed room, waiting patiently. He hadn't been able to come by in a good month or so, he knew he was in for an earful. However, if anyone could gather hushed information, it was him.
He heard the familiar buzz, his eyes darting to the security door. Nodding to the security guards, he looked at the person now sitting at the other side of the metal table, wearing a white jumpsuit, and smiled, "You know you missed me."
"Try again. This is a like a shitty breakup, where she won't leave you the fuck alone."
"Oof, Dabi," he clutched his chest, "you're hitting hard today."
"You disappear for over a month, and leave me in this nut house," Dabi crossed his arms and leaned back in his chair. He pointed to the small device around his neck, "Not to mention a fuckin' dog collar."
"It's not that bad," Hawks chuckled, "It's better than where they were going to transfer you to, because you can't behave."
Dabi rolled his blue eyes, "I heard you've been busy."
"I have."
"You look like shit," he leaned on the table, looked the other man over.
"I feel like shit," Hawks also leaned on the table, "I was in rough shape last week."
"I also heard you have a new friend," he smirked, "she's pretty." Hawks narrowed his eyes slightly, causing Dabi to chuckle, "I squashed it, relax...I'm still covering for your stupid ass."
The blonde hero smiled, "And I still owe you for it. I do need some help though."
"Make it quick," his eyes darted towards the door.
"Rumors of a few groups competing to be the new league. I need more intel and who riled them up."
"Are they the ones who did that," Dabi could see Hawks slightly favoring one of his wings.
"They broke it, yeah," he sat back, "I can't fly yet, but it's on the mend."
"Leave it to me," he sat back as a buzzer sounded through the large building, "Come back in about a week."
Hawks nodded and stood as the guards opened the door to let him back through. He hated seeing him like that, but, it was better than the alternatives. He was kicked out of Maximum, about to be sent out of country, but, luckily Shoto stepped in and offered this instead. Now Dabi was serving his sentence, wearing a quirk suppressor. Hallie had hooked him up with a therapist from her foundation as well.
Mika had taken this opportunity to go to her place and stop by the coffee shop to see Rocky. She knew he would worry if she disappeared for too long, and right now, it would be dangerous of him to go digging. She sipped her coffee and took a deep breath, "Rocky she's not a kid anymore though."
The man sighed, "Yeah but why does she have to go on a weekend with that boy?"
"They're both twenty," her eyes gave him an amused glance, "Do you hear yourself?"
"I might be old," he puffed his chest, "But I'm also a man...I know what goes on up here..." he tapped his brain.
"Exactly," came a familiar voice, "men are dogs."
Mika blinked and turned to see Hawks with his signature smile. She smirked, "Such wise words from a playboy."
Rocky smiled, "What can I get for you?"
Hawks pointed to Mika, "Just her."
Rocky smiled at Mika, making her roll her eyes, "Don't start with me." She set her cup on the counter, "And listen to my advice, the more you try to police her, the more she's going to shut you out...you've done well with her, trust her."
The man sighed and took the cup, "Yeah yeah, get outta here, behave."
Mika winked and headed towards the waiting Hawks by the door. She looked him over, "You're pushing it...Recovery Girl would throw a fit."
"I can't just sit around," he put his hands in his jacket pockets, "Not with everything happening."
"I know, just be smart about it," she began making her way down the sidewalk.
"Let's take the back way," Hawks scanned the crowds of people.
Right, he probably doesn't feel like being bombarded today. Mika followed him through the side streets towards his apartment. "Did you get to see who you were hoping?"
He smiled and nodded, "Yes. He's going to do some digging."
"Hawks," she stopped walking for a moment and looked at him. He spun around and faced her. "Listen I have a gut feeling shits going to get bad," she sighed, "Promise me, that if I get caught, you'll sit down and just let things happen."
"Why would I promise that?"
"Because, there are bigger things to worry about," she crossed her arms stubbornly, "and frankly it's not worth the trouble when other lives are at stake."
He shrugged, "Can't do that."
"Why?"
"Cause I don't want to," he turned to continue, "so don't ask me to."
Mika growled in annoyance and stormed after him, "I don't get it."
Hawks spun around, inches from her, "Because, I'd beat the hell out of myself having to visit you through a glass wall..." Mika swallowed and looked at him. He sighed, "I'm sorry, it's just...I've gotten a little attached." He reached up and ruffled her hair, "You'd miss me."
Mika smiled slightly and moved past him, "I wouldn't get too ahead of yourself."
He puffed his cheeks and followed after her, "What does that mean?!"
Bakugo sighed and looked at his son, "Tobi, you can't hit people."
"He hit a girl in class," the small blonde huffed.
He sat down and rested her head in his palm, "I understand, but, with your quirk you can't risk something happening...you could seriously hurt someone."
His blue eyes looked away as he quietly responded, "I know...but what am I supposed to do?"
"You get an adult," he placed a hand on his sons hair, "and if they don't do anything, you get me, okay?"
Tobi nodded, "Okay."
Hallie walked through the door and looked at her son, "Luckily his nose isn't broken."
Bakugo ruffled his sons hair and nodded towards his room, "Go on, I'll buffer for you."
Tobi smiled slightly and took off. Hallie sat down and let out a long breath, "He's too much like you."
"That's a good thing."
"We can sit here and tell him not to hit all day...but if it happens again, he won't think twice."
"I know," he looked her over, "how are you feeling?"
"Cranky," Hallie yawned, "and tired...we also need to talk about something else."
His red eyes looked at her, "I'm all ears."
"You realize your apartment is a target zone..."
"I know," he laid his head in her lap, "I'm working on it. UA might have to be a temporary thing."
Her hand slowly wound into his hair, "I figured as much...we'll make it work." She smiled when he snuggled up to her, closing his eyes.
