Mika felt strong arms around her as her eyes slowly opened. She didn't remember falling asleep, but, given the upcoming events, it was a deep one. She looked to the clock on her nightstand, it was after ten. The cool sheets felt nice on her skin, Hawks was like a heater when he was asleep. Looking at him, she could see the darkness under his eyes. He must've stayed awake for a while, she thought as he shifted slightly.
His eyes fluttered open sleepily, immediately going to the clock. She gently placed her hand on his cheek, keeping him against her, "Go back to sleep," her voice was barely a over a whisper, "we still have time." He didn't say anything, merely burrowing into her neck and breathing deeply, falling into another slumber.
Golden orbs opened and narrowed. He was in bed alone. Forcing himself to sit up, he looked around the studio apartment, no Mika. He closed his eyes, concentrating to hear any signs of movement. A small smirk fell on his face when he heard the shower.
Mika sighed and the hot water ran over her. She had laid with him until that afternoon before she decided she needed to move. Her mind was playing all of the scenarios it could for tonight. Different escape routes, plans for defense, and how she would go about confronting "Rocky".
"You left me all alone," Hawks voice sounded in her ear, making her spin around to see his grinning face, "Was that payback?"
She chuckled, "Maybe. Do you feel rested now?"
He nodded and grabbed the shampoo, "I do. I couldn't fall asleep." He gently lathered it into her hair.
"Do you do this with your other women," Mika teased.
A blush flashed across his cheek before a smug grin appeared, "No but I'll need an honest review for the future."
She laughed, "I'll spare no feelings."
In all honesty, it felt amazing. She had never showered with a partner, or had someone else wash her hair. It was nice, an act of kindness. Hawks wasn't lying, he had never done this either. When he hooked up with other women, there were no emotions behind it, only lust and need.
He rinsed the shampoo out of her hair and reached for the conditioner. "Not on the scalp," Mika smiled, "My hair is too thick, you'll never get it out."
He nodded, making a mental note as he avoided her scalp. Her grey eyes closed when he rinsed it out, relaxing. She had stopped planning, focusing on here and now.
The rest of her shower was filled with Hawks' pampering touch, and soft kisses. He was so quiet and gentle, taking his time. She couldn't help but admire his handsome face, and toned body. Her cheeks flushed, her mind soaring back to the past two nights with him.
She dressed black jeans that hugged her form and a light grey, long sleeve shirt. Running a comb through her hair, she decided to let it air dry, picking up her phone.
Hawks was finishing his shower. She was going to stay with him, but he insisted she go get dressed. Hallie was going to come by with a specialized comm for their cause. Her attention shifted when her phone buzzed. It was Bakugo, asking for the code to the basement. After she texted him back, she disarmed her system, unlocking the door.
Hallie's blue eyes blinked and looked around, "Okay, this is cool."
Mika smiled, "I think so too."
Bakugo walked around quietly, surveying the area. He had to admit, this was a pretty genius layout. It was commonly known as a condemned building, in an old part of the city that no one ever paid any mind to. His red eyes landed on a surprised Hawks as he walked through the doors, looking around.
Hallie handed Mika a fitted workout jacket, "The comm in is the collar."
"Thank you," Mika pulled it on and zipped it up, "Hallie, if things get bad, don't let them do anything stupid."
The red head smirked, "Incase you haven't noticed," she rubbed her stomach, "I can't exactly deliver on any threats right now."
Mika laughed and rolled her eyes, "I'm just saying don't throw it all out the window, stick to the plan."
"I think I will be the judge of that," Bakugo stood behind them with his arms crossed.
"You know I'm right," Mika looked at him.
"I think you'll be out voted," Hawks casually made his way into the room, his hair still damp.
Hallie grinned, "Oh so you sleep over now?"
Mika's cheeks flushed, "I almost forgot," she walked to her bookcase and pulled out a book. The case slid upwards, "Hallie, if you ever need in here," she grabbed a set of keys from the darkened room. She tossed them to the red head.
"So when I need a break," Hallie teased, earning a glare from her other half.
"Precisely," Mika chuckled.
Hawks tilted his head and looked into the room. She had never mentioned it was there before. It looked like a panic room. His wheels started turning for future scenarios.
"Let's go," Bakugo looked at Mika, "You'll be there around six, right?"
Mika nodded, "Yes. I'm meeting Mina at five thirty."
"We can get into position around five," Hawks looked at Hallie and Bakugo.
When they were gone, Hawks let out a long breath and rubbed the back of his neck. Mika slid the jacket off of her shoulders and tossed it aside. Tension was lingering in the room. Hawks was feeling frustrated and uneasy. Mika was anxious and unsettled.
"Mika," he sighed, his golden eyes landed on her.
"Hm?"
"This isn't right-"
"Hawks," she cut him off, "I'm not debating this with you."
He ground his teeth and sat down, "If you end up dead, I might lose my temper."
She blinked, and took a breath. How could she not have thought about this? Hallies words from the night before rang into her mind. He's afraid. The might Hawks was fearful for her. Mikasa, a fucking vigilante wannabe.
She carefully walked up to him, "Keigo."
He blinked and looked at her, "How do you know-"
"The same way you knew things about me," she sighed and sat down, "We are very similar, you know. After we had our first encounter, I did some digging."
He half smiled, "Makes sense."
"I need you to understand what you're feeling right now is valid...but, we have to keep the bigger picture in the frame." She but her lip, "This city will not be able to withstand another war."
His eyes looked at the floor as he softly answered, "I know."
