Golden eyes snapped open when he felt movement. Mika curled into his chest and settled down once more. His arm wrapped around her gently as he looked for the time. It was still early, too early for him. He noticed her phone light up and reached over, clicking the button. Bakugo had messaged her a couple of times. Hallie as well. His mouth twisted as he played with the idea of opening them.
"You can read them," came her tired voice beneath him.
He set the phone back down, "I have no need to."
"Hawks," she looked at him, "Can we have a discussion?"
He could hear the hesitation in her tone, "Of course."
"I have a plan," she bit her lip, "but you're going to hate it."
He scoffed with a smirk, "Well that saves time."
She smiled slightly, "I'm going on patrol tonight, but I'm going alone."
He furrowed his brows, "Is that why you met with the big three?"
"Sort of. I ran my plan by them to see what they thought," she nodded to her phone their answer is in the messages. "I'm going to do to this new league, what I did to Kenshi."
He blinked, "You mean use your blood..."
He trailed off and she nodded, "He made it obvious what their goal is, I can manipulate them with no casualties."
"Mika you would be tortured," he looked away, "god knows what else."
"Keigo," she used his name, making his eyes snap back to her, "If I do this, it keeps people out of danger-"
"What about you?"
"I'm not worried about it." She could see him working to keep a level head, she was proud for that. Her hand gently stroked his hair, "I know the risks, but I have to do this."
He sighed and closed his eyes, feeling her hand run through his hair, "I can't just sit by knowing what's happening."
"I know," her voice was soft, calming and gentle, "I won't hold it against you."
"If you do this," he nestled into the crook of her neck, "I can't guarantee I'll be there..."
Those words cut deeper than she thought they would, feeling the lump in her throat, "It's okay. I can't expect you to be."
"Mika," he placed a soft kiss on her lips, "Please don't do this."
He could see the emotions running across her features as he looked at her. Her steel colored eyes closed as she took a deep breath, "I have to. I'm sorry."
"It's okay," he wanted to scream and rage, but he knew that wouldn't do any good. Mika was a grown woman. He respected her choice, just like she was respecting his. He trailed soft kisses down her neck, "I'll stay with you today. But when you leave, I'll be gone."
She closed her eyes at the feeling of his lips, "Okay."
Hallie leaned back against Bakugo's chest as the movie before them played. His hands absentmindedly rested on her stomach, her head rested against him. He wanted to spend the day with her, needed to spend the day with her. His decision was weighing heavy on his mind. Hallie wanted to be upset, but, she understood where Mika was coming from. She really was a hero at heart.
"Katsuki."
"Hm?"
"Don't let it sit heavy on your heart," she ran her hands over his, "supporting her is all we can do."
He let out a breath, "I know..." he frowned, "I just don't know how to explain it. I feel like I'm sending someone to their death."
"No," she looked back at him, "You're supporting a hero who is willing to do what she has to, to keep people safe."
He kissed her head and rested his chin on her curls, "I hope Hawks forgives us."
Mika held a sleeping Hawks, resting her cheek on his head. They were tangled with one another, spending all day in bed together. She had responded to Bakugo, and Hallie. They were going to meet her after sundown to give her a few tools to aid in their cause.
His grip on her was solid, she wasn't going anywhere until he decided to let go. She smirked. Even when sleeping he was a pain. At the same time, she didn't want him to let go. When he did, this whole fever dream would be over. She would be going into the lions den, and he would be alone once more.
She felt him shift, bringing her out of her thoughts. He immediately buried his face into her neck, breathing deeply, "You smell so good."
She couldn't help but smile, "I smell like you."
She felt his grin against her skin, "Damn right you do." His eyes landed on the clock, making him sigh, "It's time."
"Yeah," Mika whispered.
He rose off of her and stretched his massive wings. Mika sat up and ran a hand through her hair before reaching for the briefcase under her bed, opening it.
Hawks peeped over her shoulder, "The color suits you."
Her cheeks flushed as she eyed the crimson suit, "I think it's pretty."
Her hand pulled the last buckle into place. Hallie had done well in her design, it fit perfectly. The material was woven, but protective, like the suit she had borrowed. The black leather utility belt was perfect, not too bulky, keeping to her silhouette. She laced the boots and stood, letting out a breath.
"It looks good," he cleared his throat, "Hallie did well."
Mika smiled slightly, "Thank you."
He walked up to her and zipped the collar up on her neck, covering the marks he had left on her skin, "Might wanna cover that."
He smirked when she blushed, "Yeah."
"Listen," he handed her a single red feather, "if it gets bad, and you can't get ahold of them...use this. I can't guarantee I'll be the one to show up, but, I can let them know where you are."
She carefully took it and nodded, "I'll keep it as a last resort, I promise."
He leaned down and pulled her lips to his in a soft kiss, "Please Mika, be smart...I don't wanna read an obituary."
"You won't, I swear," she placed one more kiss, "Thank you, Keigo."
He looked at her for a moment before winking, heading out of the door. When she heard the click, tears fell freely, one's she had been holding back all day. She loved that bird brained, sarcastic, boyish idiot. Mika only hoped he knew that. Wiping her eyes, she grabbed her phone and turned out the lights on her safe house, heading into the night
