In a spinning blur of robes and limbs (thankfully no vomit as a tornado of it would make for a rather unpleasant voyage), Kingsley Shacklebolt, Septima Vector, Aurora Sinistra, and Terry Boot (he wants to do a mastery in arithmancy and become an Unspeakable and is part of the Calderon-Boot family in the USA, so he opted to train under an American Unspeakable) arrived in front of MACUSA's headquarters in the USA via portkey, although they landed in a tangled heap.

''That was quite a ride,'' remarked Sinistra as the trio disentangled and straightened themselves, ''I wonder what this vortex that the Unspeakables here created is.''

Unlike the British ministry's of magic old traditional brick buildings, MACUSA was the epitome of modernity. It was a tall, steel-gray, sleek skyscraper with lots of large windows, stretching upwards almost into the clouds. The trio looked at it in awe, then entered the reception area.

The American MACUSA president herself -Tammy Tran, a short woman with blonde highlights in her hair and wearing violet robes with a matching hat - awaited the trio, and the two heads of the respective magical communities greeted each other. All four of them took an elevator to the very top floor, where MACUSA's department of mysteries was located.

''Oh yay, here are our expected guests!'' exclaimed a man; with his appearance, it was hard to not notice him. He was a skinny, lanky man (towering above the others in the room) with a prominent Roman nose and wavy -almost frizzy- dark hair tied back in a ponytail cascading down his back. He wore a monocle, but most notable was his choice of outfit: instead of wearing robes, he wore a white lab coat with complex math equations doodled all over it and plain sweatpants and sneakers. He was holding an ink-stained, worn notebook (no time for a break from doing math) with a pen stuck in its spiral.

''I am Dr. Ross Arrow, the chief arithmancer here at MACUSA,'' he said in an energetic voice, ''gotta keep on doing my math. No time to stop, mwahahahaha! Gotta show ya this black hole vortex. It is revolutionary, I am telling ya! I will also give you a tour of the rest of the department of mysteries here.''

The walls, floors, and ceilings of the MASCUSA department of mysteries were entirely black and made out of the same material as chalkboards (gotta be ready to jot down an equation at any time if you have a eureka moment so a convenient writing surface is obviously needed). The hall of this level was dimly lit and winding in a spiral, with differing doors on all four surfaces. Some of the doors on the side walls were wooden and inviting, while others had intimidating brass knockers. The floor had a steel door leading to a bunker, while the ceiling had a concealed door leading to the observatory and radar system.

Near one of the rooms hung a massive, life-sized portrait with 12 regal figures, each of them wearing embroidered uniquely embroidered, hooded robes, but with the hoods down.

''Who are 12 figures?" asked Shacklebolt.

''Ah, we are the 12 original MACUSA Unspeakables,'' replied a tall, thin woman from the portrait. She shared Dr. Ross Arrow's facial features but her long, dark hair was cascading down her back in two braids.
