Chapter 11.

Olivia was on the older side, so Dr. Moore decided that after the tests came back positive, an ultrasound would be a good idea. Amanda sat next to Olivia as she lay on the table, their hands clasped together. As the technician started the ultrasound, Olivia drifted off. It wasn't until a whooshing sound filled the room that she came back to reality.

Looking at the screen, Olivia saw her baby. She could see the flickering of the baby's heartbeat on the screen, the baby didn't look like a real baby. She was on the verge of tears because she couldn't believe that this was really happening.

"Olivia, that's your baby. As you can hear, the heartbeat is strong. You look to be about seven weeks along. Dr. Moore will be able to help you determine a due date soon." The technician smiled. She continued to take pictures of the baby, and Olivia couldn't wait to look at them in the days to come.

But almost as soon as her excitement hit, so did the guilt and fear. She had been keeping a secret, and now it was about to come out. Everything overwhelmed her. Soon she'd have to talk to Dominick and decide what to do.

To make matters worse, Amanda sat and held her hand while her pregnancy was confirmed. But the baby growing in her belly wasn't someone else's. It was Amanda's boyfriend's baby... Dominick was going to be a father.

Olivia decided to go home instead of going back to the precinct. She lay down on the couch and covered herself with a blanket she had kept from cleaning out her mother's apartment.

She was so frustrated, not only with the situation, but with her body. Of course, she was pregnant now, when she wasn't trying, and she just prayed that everything would work out. That sometime this year she would hold a baby in her arms and kiss its sweet little face.

Olivia dozed off on the couch, and as she slept, she dreamed about the night. She had seen the footage of that night, but now she could hear what he said to her.

Dominick couldn't help but smell her skin as he made his way down her shoulder to her cloth-covered chest.

"You smell like vanilla," he murmured between kisses.

"Shut up and keep going," she panted.

It wasn't long before all her clothes were thrown to the floor.

Olivia's nap didn't last long. She awoke to the sound of someone knocking on her door. She stood slowly, swaying as she tried to regain her balance. Olivia went to the door and opened it.

"Elliot, what are you doing here?" Olivia asked as she gripped the door with her hand. She was feeling dizzy and the door was the only thing that was keeping her upright. Elliot was able to see the difference in Olivia.

"Are you all right? I brought us some food if you're hungry," Elliot said. He took the bag and opened it. The moment the smell came out of the bag,

Olivia felt sick. She quickly put her hand over her mouth as she began to choke. She beckoned Elliot into her apartment. Then she ran to her bathroom. She barely made it in time as she began to throw up.

Elliot walked into their apartment and closed the door. He put the bag of food on the table. Then he went into Olivia's bathroom. He walked over to where she was kneeling by the side of the toilet and pulled the brown curls of her hair away from her face. He held her hair back with one hand. With the other, he rubbed gentle circles on her back.

"Let it out, love. Make sure you breathe when you can," Elliot said quietly. They both didn't notice Noah being dropped off because they were so focused on what was happening in the bathroom.

"Mom? What's going on?" Noah asked. He was walking toward the bathroom, his backpack still on his back. Olivia leaned forward for a long moment before leaning back against Elliot's strong chest.

"I think I just have a stomach bug, sweet boy," Olivia said, her voice shaking as she still clung to the toilet.

"Can I be of any help at all?" Noah asked worriedly, staring at his mother. Elliot turned to the boy and gave him a gentle smile.

"I think your mother needs to get some sleep. Why don't you help yourself to some food out there? I'll take care of her," Elliot said with a smile. Noah nodded his head and left the bathroom.

Olivia took a shaky breath of air before she spoke.

"I need to sleep, El. I'm sorry," Olivia whimpered. She didn't want to accidentally tell Elliot that her stomach problem was morning sickness. Morning sickness caused by another man's baby.

She had no intention of telling anyone but Amanda about her current situation for a while. If she did tell anyone now, she'd probably lose the baby. But she knew she had to tell Dominick sometime. She also knew that she had to tell Amanda that Dominick was the unknown man.

"Go lay down. I'm going to stay here and take care of Noah. He can eat what I brought and we can work on his homework together," Elliot smiled as he grabbed a towel and handed it to Olivia after he had moistened it.

Olivia nodded and tried to get to her feet, but she was weak. Elliot lifted Olivia into his arms and carried her out of the bathroom. Noah watched as Elliot carried his mother into her room. Elliot laid Olivia on the bed and grabbed her trash can. He kissed her on the forehead and walked out of the room.

As soon as the door closed, Olivia cried. This was all too much. She knew she had to tell Dominick. And she would go to him tomorrow. How would Dominick react, would he feel the same joy as she did? Questions upon questions swirled in her head.
