The night was passing on quietly, nothing but thunder breaking the silence. Shadow was still keeping watch, guarding his peaceful sleeping friend.
Though his body was resting in the hard wooden chair, The GUN agent's mind was plagued with many questions. 'What is in this forest that is causing all this problems?' and 'Whose cabin is this and why are they obviously staying here?'
The ebony hedgehog's thoughts were interrupted by a high hissing sound and a strong sweet smell. Opening his eyes, Shadow saw the small cabin quickly filling up with green mist. His eyes widened as he realized what it was, strong sleeping gas.
They had to get out quickly. Shadow shakily stood on weak legs, the gas obviously taking effect, and wobbly made his way to a still sleeping Rouge. He tried to arouse her, but unfortunately, the powerful gas was already in her system. The Ultimate Lifeform then proceeded to lift her hoping to carry her to safety, but was too weak to.
His knees buckled, and he collapsed to the floor on his front beside the bed. Too exhausted to rise. His eyelids began to flutter, but before forced sleep could claim him, he saw four tall blurry figures in white hazard suits coming towards them. Then Shadow's eyes unwillingly closed in sleep.
Slowly consciousness returned to the sleeping hedgehog. His mind sluggishly tried to work out just what of mobius happened. Why had he fallen to sleep? He was suppose to be keeping watch.
He could feel himself slightly floating. His turned up quills softly swaying from side to side. And air was steadily being blown into his face.
Shadow painstakingly opened his blood red eyes only to stare through neon green liquid. He found himself to be in a containment status capsule, surrounded by preservation fluid. An oxygen mask had been placed over his muzzle. He could also feel numerous neurotransmitters had been stuck to various places throughout his body.
The room in which the crimson striped hedgehog had been placed was bare save for a mobian size hospital bed, a desktop computer, and the capsule he was imprisoned in. There were no windows and only one door that was closed.
But Shadow's wasn't thinking about his discomfort or predicament, his mind was on his fellow agent that accompanied him.
'What happened to Rouge? Is she okay? And where is she?'
The dark agent was trying to figure out just how to escape without alerting anyone when the door opened and a male human pushing a mobian size gurney entered. The human was obviously there for him. Shadow quickly closed his red eyes and slowed his heart down as much as he could to make himself appear to still be unconscious.
After a few seconds, the hedgehog could feel the capsule being drained of all the fluid. He allowed his body to freely slump against the cold metal back of the capsule as an unconscious body should. All the neurotransmitters released themselves from his body and retracted to the walls of the tube as the front glass opened with a loud hiss.
The human put on surgical gloves and mask before approaching the Ultimate Lifefrom. Quickly, the male human removed Shadow's oxygen mask, placing it on a nearby table. Then he put one arm around the hedgehog's back and the other under his knees. Shadow's head slumped against the man's chest as he was picked up and carried to the gurney.
After being laid on the gurney roughly, the black and red mobian was thinking about grabbing the man by the throat when he heard someone else enter the room.
"He's still unconscious?" A surprised female voice asked.
"Apparently." The man answered as he began to strap Shadow's arm and legs down to the rolling bed.
"I can't believe he's been unconscious for three days." The lady replied.
'Three days?' Shadow internally cried. 'How could I have possibly been unconscious for three days?'
"Well, the bat was unconscious for two days. The boss sure uses strong gas. You know she came around last night, right?" The man asked.
'So Rouge is here.' The agent told himself. 'I wonder where?'
"I know. She wasn't awake for two minutes before the doctors came and took her... What do you think they did to her? The female asked sympathetically.
"I don't know nor do I care." The man evilly laughed as he strapped the ebony hedgehog's last limb parinfully tight.
'This human will pay for that.' The Ultimate Lifeform vowed.
"These mobian creatures are finally getting what they deserve." The man finished coldly.
"I guess." She sadly replied.
"Well, Dr. Wilson wants this mobian in his lab." The man told his fellow assistant.
"Oh, okay...I'll see you later then." The woman said in farewell.
Shadow could feel the gurney being hastily pushed down the bare halls. The GUN agent didn't dare open his eyes, afraid it would be discovered that he wasn't still under the effects of the gas. They took many turns, the facility was obviously very large.
Shadow could hear people, more than likely mobians, yelling. Some begging to be left alone, others crying to be set free, and sadly, most pleading for longing death.
Silently, the hedgehog strapped down to the gurney promised that he would eventually save them. But right now he had to get free himself and find Rouge.
Finally the gurney was brought to a stop, and Shadow could hear a door being closed and locked.
"So, this is the mobian that was brought in with the bat? Right, Phillips?" A new voice asked his assistant.
"Yes, Dr. Wilson. But I'm afraid he is still unconscious." The evil assistant answered.
'So, this is Dr. Wilson. And he knows about Rouge.' The faking unconscious mobian thought.
"It doesn't matter. I was going to sedate him anyway." Dr. Wilson responded. "Remove him from the gurney and place him on the exam table. And be sure to remove his gloves and shoes."
"Yes, Doctor." Phillips politely answered. "But what about the rings?"
"Leave them. I will return once I am washed up." Dr. Wilson informed.
"I will have him ready when you return, Sir." Promised the assistant.
'I think not.' The hedgehog internally growled.
Shadow could hear a door open then close, signifying the doctor's departure. The male assistant, whose name was Phillips, wasted no time in unstrapping the restraints holding the striped hedgehog down. The man roughly picked up Shadow and dropped him none too easily on the table. After removing the gloves but leaving on the rings, Phillips was about to put an IV in the agent's striped arm when Shadow's right hand shot up and rapidly closed around the man's throat, producing a strangled cry.
The ebony hedgehog opened his crimson eyes, a blaze with hate.
"I suggest you be quiet unless you want me to break your neck." Shadow quietly growled.
The pale man with dark black hair and wide hazel green eyes nodded his understanding.
"Good. Now where am I?" The Ultimate Lifeform asked authoritatively, only slightly loosening his grip on the chocking man's throat so he could answer.
"A secret underground lab." Phillips gasped.
"What's the name?" The angry hedgehog inquired.
"There is no name." Was the wheezing response.
"I don't believe you." Shadow growled as he slowly tightened his grip.
"Honest! There is no name. The boss never gave it one." The assistant panicked as he frantically tried to pull the hand around his neck off with no success.
The midnight dark mobian once again loosened his vise like grip making the man's face less blue.
"Where's the bat that was with me?" Shadow demanded.
"What bat?" Phillips tried to play innocent.
Chaos snapping, the Ultimate Lifeform was now standing up on the exam table, his hand still around Phillips' throat, intimidatingly inches from the frightened man's face.
With bared fangs, the GUN agent deeply growled. "You know what bat. The one you and Dr. Wilson were just talking about."
Now Phillips was really scared. He knew the black and red hedgehog before him had been awake longer than he assumed and had heard most if not all of their conversation.
"I don't know where." Phillips honestly answered. "She was assigned to another doctor in a different department."
"What department?" The fiercely angry mobian asked.
"I don't know."
Before the assistant could react, Shadow hit a pressure point on the side of his neck causing the man to collapse to the floor unconscious.
