"We can't tell her," Mika leaned on the table, rubbing her temples, "It will crush her."
"I know...I just don't know if its a secret I can carry..." Hawks stated at the now empty seat. "Maybe Bakugo-"
"No," she looked at him, "you can't ask him to do that either."
"If he is alive...she's going to find out sooner or later."
Mika laid her head down, letting the cool table sooth her oncoming headache, "She wouldn't forgive us, would she?"
"On something like this..I don't think so."
"Then perhaps we talk to Bakugo first," a long breath left her, "I'm sure he'd know how to approach it."
"Are you okay," he looked her over.
"I don't know. The man who has been making our lives hell, has been employing her supposedly dead brother."
He thought for a moment before leaning over her chair, "Come on." Mika sat up, taking his outstretched hand as he led her to the bedroom. He walked over to his dresser and pulled out a random shirt, tossing it to her, "Put it on."
"Why," she pulled off her tank top, pulling the shirt over her head.
"Because I can feel how overwhelmed you are," he glanced at her, "I'm taking today off, to be with you."
"Hawks what if they need-"
"I don't care," he pulled her close, "The person that matters the most to me, needs me right now. The city has other heroes," he smirked, "I'm hers."
Mika buried her face into his chest, breathing in his scent as she felt her tense muscles melt, "Thank you Keigo."
Bakugo huffed as he knocked on the door to Hawks' apartment. Deku and Ochako were currently visiting, so while he wasn't worried for his family's safety, he was annoyed to have to leave their side.
Hawks opened the door, a solemn look on his usual carefree features, "Thanks for coming."
His red eyes studied him as he walked in. Mika sat on the couch, her eyes trained to the floor. "What the hell-"
"Come on, you might want to have a seat."
The hero sat down, eyeing the two of them, "What's wrong?"
Hawks licked his lips, mentally preparing himself, "Yesterday, Dabi gave us some information."
"We...we couldn't just not say something," Mika finally looked at him, "But, we wanted to tell you first."
Hawks rested his elbows on his knees as he explained what had happened when Dabi visited them. As the information left his lips, Bakugo's red eyes bore holes into the wooden floor beneath his feet. How could he? Hallie was so devastated. It cost them their time together, making her leave Japan. Causing them to break up. Causing him to miss so much with his son.
"I just...don't know how to explain this to-" Mika's voice was soft.
"You won't," he looked at her, "I will. But, we need to figure out what the fuck he's up to. His quirk is dangerous."
"What is his quirk?"
"He has a double quirk," Bakugo ran his hands through his hair, "He can shoot out energy blasts, or, he can cast illusions."
Hawks quirked an eyebrow, "Oh?"
"Yeah. He didn't like to talk about it, saying it was a villains quirk."
It clicked, "Wait," Mika sat forward, "What if it's him you guys are feeling? He would have the power to cloak himself."
"Fuck," a sharp breath left him, "you're right..." he sprang up, "I have to go."
Mika pulled out her phone, "I'll tell them to double up."
"No one patrols around there alone," he looked at Hawks, "Keep your word on going to see him. We need all the information you can get."
Hawks looked over to see Mika's eyes brimming with tears, her brain was almost manic, screaming at her. He cupped her face, "Mika, breathe. It's okay."
"I can't help but feel somewhat responsible," her voice was shaken, "I shouldn't have come back. I should've just ran that night. What if-"
"Stop," his voice was firm, but soft, "Take a breath. No one saw this coming. It's in no way your fault."
He kissed her forehead and pulled her against him. The silent rage that filled him reminded him of the day she got attacked at the coffee shop. If Tobias was here right now, he would rip him to pieces. Sure he cared for Hallie, but, Mika was his heart. The thought of both of them being so hurt made his muscles ache for a fight.
Mika silently wiped her tears. She hated being this vulnerable, but, this heavy information weighed on her. Hallie was such a strong light, to know she would be devastated was painful. Right now, she was thankful for a the arms that embraced her.
Hallie felt like her heart was going to jump from her body. Her blue orbs stared blankly at the wall. Deku had offered to take Tobi for the night when Bakugo had arrived. He didn't know the information yet, but he knew the look on his friends face.
"Hallie...I don't really know what to do," his red eyes watched her carefully. She had been so quiet, so emotionless. It worried him more than if she had raged and sobbed.
She took a deep breath and swallowed, looking at the sleeping newborn in her bassinet, "He made his choice, and I've laid the price. There's nothing more to say on it."
"You know if he's there, the day they try to break the prison..."
Her eyes met his, "He's mine."
"If you think for a second I'm going to let you-"
"Katsuki," there was a tone in his voice he had never heard before, making him think twice, "My family has been in danger, I was kidnapped, my son had to fight a villain...at six years old. A friend who is fighting so hard to find her place is in jeopardy...and now, I have another child to keep safe. Not to mention this city...Don't take this from me."
He walked forward and knelt down in front of her, placing his hands softly on her arms as a heavy sigh left him, "Okay. But, just don't try to do this alone, please. That's all I ask."
"I won't," she smiled slightly, though the sadness in her eyes gave her away, "I promise."
