/sorry I haven't been updating as often! Life's been crazy. But, I just put out another fic: Me and the Devil. Feel free to check it out! Happy reading and I hope you're well!/
Hallie knocked on the door, taking a deep breath. Hawks pulled it open and blinked, "Hallie."
She smiled slightly, "Can I come in?"
"Of course you can," he moved aside.
"I came to see her," she turned to look at him, "She and I need to make a plan and have a discussion."
He crossed his arms, "A plan?"
"Yeah," Mika strode into the living room, "she reached out last night."
"I don't like this," his golden eyes moved between them as he frowned.
Hallie chuckled, "Too bad."
"Does Bakugo know what you're scheming?"
"Yes actually, we fought about it already and I won."
"We can go in the spare room and talk," Mika moved and opened the door, "I have a lot of questions."
Hawks eyed the two women suspiciously as they closed the door. He huffed and plopped down on the couch.
Hallie chuckled as they sat down, "You know he's out there pouting."
Mika smiled, "He's good at that."
"Listen," Hallie took Mika's hands into her own, "I want you to understand this isn't your fault. Fate is just a cruel mistress who brought us together."
Truth be told, Mika needed to hear those words. They hit right in her heavy chest, making her feel lighter. She swallowed the lump in her throat, "I know, I just- I want you to have peace. I want Bakugo to be able to relax and just be a father...I know he's tired. Hell, I know you're tired."
"He is tired. His hands are causing him more pain everyday. Luckily, we caught his hearing in time," Hallie smiled slightly, "but this is the price we pay." She giggled, "You're a lot like him."
She blushed, "Why do you say that?"
"You want to save everyone."
"Yeah..." Mika's grey eyes looked out of the window, "I know what you've all been through. And from experience...I know you're tired. I'm tired."
"Then when this is over, let's take a long vacation."
She smiled and nodded, "So, tell me everything I need to know."
Bakugo was sitting on the couch beside Hawks, pouting. He showed up not long after the two began their little meeting. Neither man was happy about this at all.
"How's Sunni," his golden eyes looked at the man beside him.
Even though he was grumpy, he couldn't help but smirk, "Perfect. Like always."
Hawks scoffed with a smirk, "Don't give her your god complex."
Bakugo's eye twitched, "My god complex?"
"Yeah Mr Number One," he teased, "let's be honest here. Between the two of us, yours is way bigger."
Bakugo's smirk turned into a grin, "Hell yeah it is."
The winged hero blinked, "You idiot I'm not talking about-"
"Awwww are you having a play date," Hallie stood in the doorway.
Mika leaned her chin on the other woman's shoulder, "Hopefully they're playing nice. They look grumpy."
Bakugo huffed and stood, "Are you done?"
Hallie brushed off his heated demeanor with a graceful smile, "Yes, we're done for now."
"What do you mean for now," Hawks glared.
"She's going to help me with my quirk," Mika tilted her head and narrowed her eyes at him, "Is there a problem?"
Hallie grinned seeing his feathers ruffle slightly before he shook his head. She chuckled, "She'll be fine Hawks. She needs to know what she's doing."
When they left, Mika closed the door letting out a long breath. She leaned against the door and slid to the floor. Hawks tilted his head as he watched her, "Mika."
"Hm?"
He stood and walked up to her, kneeling down, "Are you okay?"
"Yeah I just felt light headed is all," she opened her eyes to see his worried face, "it's just stress. I'm a little overwhelmed."
He looked her over carefully before holding out his hand, "Why don't you lie down for a bit? I'll pick us up some dinner."
"You're too sweet," she smiled when he blushed.
Hallie smiled down at Sunni as she scooped her up. Bakugo was seeing his parents out with Tobi. She knew she was in for it, he was quiet the entire way home.
Tobi walked into the room, "Momma, dad said he needed to talk to you."
Hallie nodded and set Sunni down, "Will you keep an eye on her?"
He nodded with a grin. Any chance to be a protective big brother, he gladly took. Hallie took a deep breath and walked into the living room. She opened her mouth to speak when he held up his hand.
"Hallie," his red eyes cut to her, making her feel small, "I need you to hear me out." She quietly sat down, "Do not keep me in the dark about this. I get your reasoning, but this has just as much to do with me as it does you. They're my kids too. My friends. You. The city I protect every single day." He rubbed the bridge of his nose, "I'm going against everything in my soul telling me to let you do this. All I'm asking is no secrets."
Her blue eyes stared at him blankly for what felt like ages. He was right. This was just as important to him as it was to her. She stood and sat beside him before speaking, "You're right. I'm sorry. I guess I just got so caught up in my feelings, I didn't take yours into account."
She leaned and placed a kiss on his cheek, "if you want to know what we talked about, I will be more than happy to tell you."
He ran a hand through her soft curls, "Thank you. I just couldn't handle something happening to you."
"This poor city couldn't either," she teased, "You'd be a loose cannon. Bullying everyone." She smiled at his half hearted glare, "Poor Hawks would be at your mercy."
"Don't start," he smirked and looked away, "He's upset too."
"Oh I'm sure, but, Mika knows he's too hot headed and hasty. She'll tell him when it's time."
Bakugo reached and pulled her close, "So spill it."
