Chapter 22.

"Hey, are you okay?" Fin asked. He had been watching Olivia all morning and things just seemed to get worse for her. She broke her favorite mug, and then got some of her lunch on her blouse.

"Fin-" Olivia let out a sigh as she looked up at him

"C'mon, Liv. It's me. If something is wrong with you or that alien, I'd love to know." Fin replied. He motioned for Olivia to sit beside him on her office sofa.

"The baby's fine, but...I'm tired," said Olivia as she yawned. She didn't sleep well last night. She was nervous about meeting Sonny's family. And telling them about the pregnancy. She heard good things about them but the pregnancy made her nervous to tell them about the baby.

"C'mon Liv, spill the beans," Fin said. Olivia She let out a sigh and ran her hands through her hair looking at Fin.

"Sonny wants me to meet his family and tell them about the baby." Olivia said with a sigh.

"That sounds like a big step," Fin replied, trying to be supportive.

"It is." Olivia said her voice cracking a bit.

Fin looked at her "What did you say?" She burst into tears before answering. "I told Sonny the truth, but I can't help but worry about losing the baby. " Olivia admitted with a heavy heart. She tried to dismiss the thought. Olivia continued to think about the worst case scenario. Losing the baby in her belly. It would destroy Liv.

Fin listened before responding with empathy. "I understand how you feel, Liv. It's understandable to have concerns about losing the alien. Especially since your pregnancy is high-risk."

Fin paused in thought for a moment. "Meeting his family while pregnant can be scary," he said with a grin. "If you're stressed about their reaction, don't worry. Just talk to Carisi and tell him how you feel."

Olivia said "Sonny and I aren't a couple but we're excited to have a baby. I'm just nervous about meeting his family."

Fin tried to comfort her by saying, "Why worry? They'll be thrilled to meet their grandchild's mom!"

"What if they don't like me?" Olivia asked, uncertain.

Fin smiled and said, "Olivia you're amazing and anyone would be lucky to have you in their family. I understand that meeting your baby's father's family can be a daunting experience." Fin gently reassured with a sympathetic nod. "But hey, remember that they're just as nervous to meet you too."

Liv smiled shyly at Fin, grateful for the support."It's not meeting them, Fin," Liv responded with a sigh. "What's the matter then?" Fin asked with concern.

"I just don't belong there. I'm not..." Liv's voice trailed off as she struggled to find the right words. "Liv, don't say that. " Fin interrupted with a compassionate tone.

"I am an intruder in their world." Liv continued, ignoring the interruption. Fin listened till he understand what she meant. "I get what you're saying, Liv. Try not to think like that. You are part of their world now. If you feel like it or not. It's important to remember that you and your baby are a part of the family now. You have a right to be there."

"That's easy for you to say," Liv retorted, feeling a bit defensive.

"I know it's not easy," Fin responded.

"Look Fin, I did not plan on all this. It happened and it feels like I took that away from Amanda."

"Olivia, you and Carisi did all you could for the alien sake. Life happens and things happen for a reason. You didn't do anything wrong. It was out of your control."

"I know, but it's still hard not to feel guilty."

"I get it. Sometimes things just happen. We can't do anything about it. It's not like you intentionally caused it. Forget it, Liv. You're making things more difficult than they need to be." said Fin simple.

Her heart ached with the guilt of being responsible for the breakup. Looking back. Olivia remembered how Sonny had been her unwavering support. After the traumatic incident and when she had learned of her pregnancy. He took all responsibility, making sure she ate well and gained enough weight for herself and the baby.

"It 's hard to lose a friendship that was so important to me," Liv said with a sad look.

"I understand, Liv. But sometimes people need time to heal and process things on their own." Fin replied gently. "That's true, I guess," Liv conceded.

"Just take care of yourself and your alien baby for now. The rest will fall into place as it should." Fin said, placing a hand on Olivia's shoulder. She nodded in agreement. It was comforting for Liv to have someone like Fin in her life who always knew how to say the right thing. To make her feel better.

Liv felt relieved as she hugged Fin. He was there for her when things were tough and made everything feel easier. She knew he'd always be there for her no matter what. Liv was thankful for their long-lasting friendship.

Liv said, "I would be so lost without you."

Fin joked, "You're damn right about that!"

They both chuckled and enjoyed the peaceful silence.

"That's what friends are for, Liv," replied Fin with a gentle smile.

Olivia said in her captain tone "We should get back to work." She looked out the window and Fin agreed standing up from his seat. They both turned their attention towards the squad room.
