It was the day after Cheryl had blessed Archie with her idea of showing Reggie how much he cares, and poor Archie had been searching all day for opportunities to at least be nice to Reggie, but none of significance had arisen, until he spotted Reggie in the student lounge looking a bit frustrated as he looked down at his textbook.
Archie took a seat next to Reggie on the sofa and Reggie rolled his eyes after looking up and seeing who it was.
"What's up, man? You look upset," Archie inquired.
"Yeah, because you just sat next to me," Reggie said brusquely.
"Come on. Tell me what's wrong," Archie requested.
"Fine, if it'll shut you up. I'm...I'm stupid at social studies, okay?" Reggie admitted.
"Well, it's your lucky day, because that just so happens to be the one subject I'm great at."
"Really?"
"Yeah. It's mainly about memory, dude, and I have a great memory," Archie bragged.
"Then can you help me?" Reggie asked in a cutely unashamed manner.
"Of course, man."
Archie smiled.
"I may be pissed at you, but I'm willing to accept help with this from anyone who offers," Reggie said.
"Wait, couldn't you just look up the answers on the internet?" Archie asked.
"Yeah, sure, man, for the homework, but what about the test I have tomorrow?" Reggie responded.
"Well, I'll help you study for your test. Let me see your study guide."
Reggie handed the packet to Archie.
"That's a lot of chapters, dude."
"Yeah, tell me about it, bro."
"Well, let's start from the beginning: the Battle of Hastings."
Archie was thankful that it was the lunch period of them both, because they were able to cram about an hour of studying in. By the end of their study session, Reggie was grasping some of the material.
"Okay, so, one more time, what year did the Battle of Hastings take place?" Archie quizzed.
"Uhhh...oh, shit, 1066, right?"
"That's right, man. Awesome job."
"Yeah, thanks to you, Arch."
"Well, you're already smart, man."
"Shut up, man. Now you're just talking," said Reggie.
"No, I'm serious. You come up with better plays than Coach, sometimes."
Reggie's face started to turn a bit red. There was no better compliment to him than a football compliment. He pulled Archie into a hug.
"Thanks, bro," Reggie said.
"I love you, Arch."
"Wow. I love you too, man."
