Archie normally sat with Veronica, Betty, and Jughead during lunch, but, being the kindhearted person that he was, he was enjoying making Reggie happy, because Reggie had a difficult home life, so he decided to sit with Reggie during lunch. He knew his friends wouldn't mind because they were fully aware of what he'd been doing with Reggie. Reggie was sat with the football players, as usual, and Archie took a seat next to him with his lunch bag.
"What's up, man?" Archie greeted.
"Hey, Arch. I was gonna thank you when I saw you; I got a perfect score on the Battle of Hastings section of my history test earlier," Reggie said.
"That's great, Reggie. I'm sorry I couldn't help you study for the other parts of the test."
"It's cool, man. I did so well on that part that it majorly helped my overall score, so you still saved my ass."
"Glad to hear it. By the way, your hair looks awesome today," said Archie.
"Thanks, bro."
Reggie could feel his face turning a bit red. Archie laughed.
"Your face is totally red. That's so cute, man."
Reggie looked downward, laughing.
"Shut up, Archie."
"Hey, I also brought these snack cakes for lunch, but you can have them," Reggie offered.
He placed the snack cakes in front of Archie.
"No, it's cool. I mean, it's your lunch. You should have them."
"I insist, bro," Reggie said.
"Alright, well, cool. Thanks."
"I almost forgot: I was waiting to see you today so I could ask if you wanna come to a little get-together I'm having after school today? It's just gonna be a few guys from the team just chilling and drinking some beers," Reggie offered.
"Yeah, sure, man. Why not?"
"Awesome, bro. I'm glad you'll be there," Reggie said.
"Why?" Archie teased.
He liked to ask Reggie confusing questions sometimes for his amusement because Reggie was always so endearingly oblivious to when Archie was messing with him.
"What do you mean 'why'? Because you're my friend," Reggie explained.
"I am?"
"Of course you are, man. Are we not friends?" Reggie asked.
"I guess we are. I just didn't realize it," said Archie.
"Oh," Reggie said, looking sad.
"Reggie, I'm just kidding, man. God, you were so sad just now that my heart dropped. That was not as fun as I thought it was gonna be," Archie said, laughing.
"I knew you were joking," Reggie lied with an unconvinvcing smile.
"No you didn't. Aww, Reg Reg, don't cry," Archie teased.
Archie got up and walked to Reggie's side of the lunch table to sit beside Reggie and pull him into a big hug. Reggie enjoyed hugs from Archie because they gave him the feeling of being so loved, something he never got from his father.
"Alright, I'm gonna go give my other friends some time. I'll see you tonight at your thing," said Archie.
