Chapter 37.
The next six weeks went smoothly. The test came back and the twins had no genetic defects, which was surprising since Olivia was having a geriatric pregnancy. Even when things were going well, Olivia was exhausted and didn't feel like doing much. But she was still the commanding officer and a mother, and her days were still busy.
"It's rare for us to all have a Monday off." Dominick said, as he led his girlfriend to the couch. She had been out in the kitchen trying to help prepare their meal, but then she couldn't stop yawning and was banished to the sofa to relax or nap.
"I know." Olivia yawned loudly. She sat down awkwardly on a pillow, her hands cradling her belly. If anyone doubted that Olivia was pregnant, it was clear now that she was.
"Lay back and I'll get you a blanket and your phone."
"Sonny-"
"You need to relax for a bit, okay?"
"Fine." Olivia groaned.
Sonny laid a blanket over her as she lay on her side, her eyes focused on the news channel that was on the TV. He kissed her head and went back to the kitchen.
It didn't take long for Olivia to get bored with the news, and she turned her attention to where she could feel her babies moving in her belly. She had felt some movement before, but not nearly as noticeable as now. She smiled as she pulled the blanket back and watched her belly move as her twins changed positions.
"Look at you two, moving around like little people." Olivia smiled to herself as she caressed her belly. She felt either a kick or a blow where her hand was, and she couldn't be more thankful that she was finally getting to experience being pregnant. She could feel the babies move, and she honestly enjoyed watching her belly grow to support the two little lives she was blessed with.
"Liv, are you okay?" Sonny asked, as he walked out of the kitchen with Noah.
"I'm fine. C'mere." Olivia smiled as she fanned them over. They walked over to her, and Noah knelt by his mother's side.
"Why are you holding your belly? Is everything okay? Does it hurt?!" He asked rapidly, as Sonny sank down beside him.
"No, it doesn't hurt. But I can feel the babies. Give me your hands, I want you both to experience this too." Olivia smiled. She took the hands of her boyfriend and her son before placing them on her belly.
The babies had calmed down, and when they were about to give up, the babies started to move again and kick the hands of Sonny and Noah.
"Woah!" Noah exclaimed, his eyes wide.
"It isn't super strong, but it's there. You can tell." Olivia have a broad smile on her face.
"Thanks for sharing this with us." Sonny whispered, tears welling in his eyes. Olivia smiled, her hand reaching out and running through his perfectly slicked back hair.
"I wouldn't want to share this with anyone but you two."

Even if Monday was easy and relaxing, by Wednesday Olivia was stressed out again. She had another pre-trial meeting with David Haden along with Elliot and Ayanna Bell.
"Good morning, everyone. Thanks for coming in again. I just need to address some more things before we start the trial." David spoke, as he looked over those that stood in front of him.
He looked over at Olivia, and she eyed him back.
"What?"
"Can we talk real quick?"
"Sure?" Olivia questioned, before feeling as he grabbed her arm and led her away.
"Are you ready for your case to go to trial? All of the hours of testimony and hours of sitting on one of the wooden benches?"
"I'll be fine," Olivia replied plainly.
"Are you sure? I know that this is going to be hard for you." David said softly.
"I've dealt with a lot of trauma regarding this trial, and I think I've processed it to a point where I'll be fine doing this all." Olivia sighed.
"If this gets too hard, tell me. I can request that we proceed without you being involved. Or even doing a zoom testimony instead."
Olivia rolled her eyes and scrubbed a hand down her face.
"I was attacked by a crazy woman who I never actually met. The last thing I want to do is be put on the sidelines because I'm pregnant. Because you think I'm not strong enough to make it through this trial, when I'm much stronger than you think." Olivia huffed.
"Olivia, I watched the video. Every second of that video where you were stumbling and slurring your words. I don't want you to be pushed back to a dark spot, and I've seen you in dark spots." David panted. Olivia glared and nodded weakly.
"Thank you for being so concerned, but I'm fine."
"I'm just a call away, Liv. So if you ever need to talk about this, just give me a ring and I'll pick up. Maybe not the first time, but at least the third." David smiled. Olivia chuckled softly and stepped forward. She hugged him tightly, before stepping back.
"Are we good?" Olivia mused.
"Yeah, I think so. But are you sure you don't want to change your mind?"
"Keeping asking that, and I'll be mean. You don't want to see me get pissed off, do you?" She warned.
David ran a hand over the back of his neck and smiled.
"No, ma'am. I've seen you angry before and I don't want to see that again." He chuckled.
They walked back to the group, and Elliot eyed them quietly.
"Now that that's done, I think it's time to start preparing again. There is such a thing as being over-prepared, but we're not even close. So let's get moving. Hurry up," David said before turning to the courtroom and opening the door.
