"Breaking news. A wormhole of sort has just opened above the skies of Manhattan and… aliens! Have come through, firing at innocent civilians in their line of sight. It is advised to stay inside your homes or take cover somewhere. We've tried to get in touch with the government but—"
Clark Kent watched from one of the flat screens mounted up in the open office of the Daily Bugle as aliens on flying machines poured out of a giant wormhole in droves and began firing at innocent civilians and into sky rise buildings, eliciting explosions of all sorts from everywhere.
"Fuck!"
Jimmy cursed out and no one chided him as they all watched with gasps or dropped jaws as innocent civilians tried their best to run from their alien attackers.
"Am I dreaming this up?"
The red haired boy spoke to himself again.
"Definitely not Jimmy…"
Clark Kent whispered, as he watched the beings on flying machines and his face constricted as he watched people scream in pain or fear.
They needed help.
These people.
"It looks like Iron Man is on the scene and as been spotted as well with a group of other masked… people, trying their best to take out these… things!"
The murmurs increased as some held on hope, after all, the Daily Bugle building was in Manhattan. 39th Street to be precise and if the fight was taking place around the Stark Tower as it seemed to be the cause of the wormhole in the first place, then the Daily Bugle wasn't safe, as they weren't that far off from the tower.
"We should be evacuating right now!"
Clark finally spoke up, looking around the office at the staff all murmuring their agreements, some immediately moving to their cubicles to grab anything of importance.
"ABSOLUTELY NOT!"
They all jumped as Jonah Jameson marched out of his office, a glare on his face and a fat tobacco sitting in his mouth, pointing at one of the mounted TVs.
"This! This is prime news! We should be at the scene of all this craziness! We are the leading newspaper and online news of New York City and the US in general and the people of America deserve to know what is going on!"
He ranted, face turning red.
"Mr. Jameson, there's nothing we can do, the aliens will reach here in minutes!"
Robbie Robertson says as he tries to make his boss see sense, but Jameson didn't care one bit.
"Anyone leaves now and they're fired! FIRED!"
It was quiet for a minute before a woman comes out from his office.
His secretary, her bag in hand as she looks at Jameson with a fierce look on her face.
"Sorry sir, but my son is in school and I'd rather die than hide here when I could be checking on his wellbeing!"
With a huff, she ran out, and Jameson grumbled.
"Bah! She was a piece of work anyway. Lane! See what you can get from your source in the Army! Austen! Find out how this channel is getting their news source! Robertson, call your inside man with that farce of a paper, New York Bulletin! And Kent!"
He finally points at the young man who still had a look on his face as he watched the aliens finally get taken on by Tony Stark and some unknowns.
But still… he could help though…
"Kent! Are you listening to me??"
Jameson glared as Clark jumped slightly startled, straightening his square rimmed glasses.
"Yes sir?"
"I said—"
Before he could continue his sentence though, some aliens flew by, one firing into the building with his staff, breaking the glass wall and thankfully only blowing a table and not a person.
People jumped and screamed and immediately, the whole place was in a disarray as everyone began looking for places to hide or moving towards the exit.
Clark, taking one look at the TV again, spotting the people helping out, his resolve hardened as he gently pushed his way out of the office, taking the stairs instead with speed and suddenly stopped at the flat roofed building of the Daily Bugle, taking off his glasses and seeing the destruction around him.
While it wasn't as much on the 39th, he could hear screams of people in need, a loud roar of something dangerous and he used his x-ray vision to see through buildings where he could still see some Innocents in, and spotted a huge leviathan like creature.
"They won't be able to take this creatures. I have to help out."
With a determined look, he flew up into the sky and towards the destination of his sky rise apartment building, thankfully still left untouched by the invasion as he opened a window up high and entered inside, immediately going through his wardrobe and bringing out a metallic square shaped box.
Removing his glasses and throwing it on his bed, a blue light rose from the box and scanned his eyes and the box unlocked, showing a suit.
A suit he hadn't worn ever.
What better time to use it now and fight for his adoptive world.
With a determined look, he flew back out of his apartment, his red cape billowing in the air as he moved faster than a missile, straight towards the places where civilians were mostly gathered and unguarded.
The avengers gathered around themselves as Hulk took down the leviathan much to the anger of the chitauri as their shrieks were heard loud and clear.
But before the Avengers could sigh in relief though, more began pouring out of the wormhole, guarded by even more of the chitauri.
Captain America turns to his teammates, giving them orders which they immediately executed, leaving him with the black widow on ground as they took on the chitauri that stayed behind to fight.
Tony Stark idly blasts a chitauri out of his line of sight as he looks around him.
These things weren't reducing.
Rather, when one was taken down, 3 more flew through the wormhole.
And not to forget those large snake like things the chitauri have with them!
He'd thought they had only one which Hulk had destroyed.
Rather, it had just been some sort of scout or something!
"Sir?"
"Yes Jarvis?"
"There's an unknown currently helping out some civilians stuck down a few buildings away."
Tony blinked at that as he swerved away from a chitauri who shrieked in anger, turning to pursue him.
"Oh crap."
He murmured as he increased his speed.
"Who's the new guy?"
"No idea sir. But he's flying."
Tony raised an eyebrow.
"Flying?... Show me a clip."
A mini screen appeared a bit from his face and he saw a tall and rather muscular man easily lift up a coaster bus like it was nothing and about 10 or so kids crawled from the slightly destroyed building the bus had been blocking.
"He's strong."
Tony blinked as the kids gathered around him but he gently guided them towards an underground subway that was currently burning.
"Think he needs help?"
He wondered as he swerved from the slowly increasing group of chitauri behind him.
Before he could think of anything though, the man seemed to take a deep breath and blow out and to his surprise, the fire was put out and the children quickly ran down in, the man grabbing a chitauri that tried to fire at the children, throwing it into the air with one hand and punching it with such strength that he was thrown far away.
He then looked around but Tony couldn't see his face as he flew off, his red cape billowing in the air.
"Uhh… did anyone invite another enhanced individual to our little shindig?"
He spoke out, his other teammates getting the message as Natasha speaks, a little out of breath.
"Another enhanced? What are you talking about?"
"He looks human but definitely enhanced. Probably one of Thor's cousins maybe. He's wearing a red drape too."
He snarked playfully.
"Stark, you've got a lot of strings sticking to your tail."
Hawkeye finally says and Tony turned slightly, seeing the chitauri behind him had increased.
"Well, it's better than them being down there and after the civilians. You guys keep an eye on a guy dressed in blue spandex and a red cape."
"Got it."
"Sure."
With that, Tony sped up faster, taking Hawkeye's advice to take tight corners to finish them off instead.
Clark flies towards a leviathan as he sees someone with an hammer, currently covered in thunder, fire up into the wormhole and hundreds of chitauri soldiers and about 2 leviathans that had began to fly out were hit, explosions taking over the skies.
"Wow… that's very impressive."
He murmurs to himself as he passes who he recognized as Thor of Asgard from his research.
Said thunder god made eye contact with him, surprise in his eyes but Clark waves him before going after the leviathan in a blur, immediately landing a powerful punch at the leviathan and a loud boom emanate from it as it shrieks and falls silent, falling to the ground below, but not before Clark goes under it, gently settling it down.
The amount of destruction going on was more than Manhattan could handle.
And this was his home as well… he would protect it as best as he could.
Turning, he spotted a spandex dressed man with the Black widow with his sight and immediately flew over to them, using his laser eyes to attack about 10 chitauri soldiers that had gathered them and landed on the ground as they stared at him in surprise.
"Hi, um… I'm Kal-el. Here to help."
He gives a small smile that Natasha idly thinks is too good to be in the middle of an invasion while Steve goes to shake his hands.
They needed all hands on deck, and if this fellow enhanced was ready to help, then the more the merrier.
"Glad you could join us. I'm Captain America. This is the Black Widow."
Clark's eyes widened at that.
"Captain America?? Wow… huge honor sir."
Steve smiles slightly.
"So, is there a way to stop that?"
Clark points at the wormhole as Natasha quietly watches him.
She hadn't heard of him from Fury before, nor had she seen him either.
Kal-el?
Who and where was he from?
"We should probably find a way to close that off."
He points at the wormhole.
"They will still continue to fly out and attack no matter how many of them we defeat."
Steve nods, a frown on his face.
"Our biggest guns couldn't touch it though."
"Maybe it's not about the guns."
Natasha finally speaks up, pointing at the Stark Tower that currently only had an 'A' on it and Steve turned to her.
"Will you be okay up there?"
The Black Widow smirks.
"Sure. I just need a ride."
She looks around at the chitauri flying ahead and Clark cuts in.
"I could fly you up there."
The two veteran soldiers turn to Kal-el who smiled at Natasha who looked at him for a moment and nods.
"Okay then. I just might need some help taking out the big bad over there."
"Okay then."
Steve nods at the plan.
"You two be careful up there."
Clark turns to Natasha, gesturing towards her.
"May I?"
With a small amused look, she nods and he immediately lifts her up like a bride and immediately flies up into the skies towards the tower as Steve watches with a small shake of his head.
"Definitely not the 40s anymore."
Clark dodges some chitauri on his tail, idly firing lasers at a group about to fly into him and Natasha's eyes sharpened as she took in what this stranger could do.
Fury hadn't mentioned someone like him for the Avengers Initiative. That either meant he didn't trust this person, had plans for him… or hadn't known about him.
Kind of surprising really.
"Hold on Miss."
He finally spoke up and for a moment, Natasha wondered just how many ladies had swooned just listening to his voice.
Also.
Miss?
Clark landed on Stark Tower, carefully placing the Black Widow on her feet and she immediately moved, speaking into her comlink.
"Ugh…"
Clark's head immediately snapped towards a man a few feet away, probably in his 40s or 50s.
He knew this man.
Erik Selvig.
"Dr. Selvig!"
He blurred over, startling him.
"What… how did you do that?"
Clark shook his head.
"No time for that, sir. Are you hurt?"
Selvig looked around.
"Just my head. I had a hand in creating that, am I right?"
Clark looked at the machine powering the portal.
He should be able to take it down.
He heard footsteps behind him and recognized it as the prowl of he Black Widow.
"Eric Selvig. Is there a way to take this thing down?"
She asked him and he nodded.
"Yes. Loki's scepter… it makes you do things… things you can't control."
Clark frowned, not liking that for a second.
"It's not your fault Dr."
Natasha said and Clark nodded.
"Maybe. But I must have had some part of my mind to myself as I built a sort of safety in the machine. A way to cut the power source."
"How?"
Natasha questioned when Selvig looked behind the two, making Clark get to his feet, turning as well.
Loki. The trickster god stood with a small smirk as he held a scepter that pulsed with a strange blue light.
"You need that."
Selvig shakily pointed at said scepter as Loki spread his hand.
"Ah, more heroes for this pitiful world. When will you humans learn?... You were born to kneel."
And he fired a blast at the, but before it got there, Clark stood in front, the blast hitting his chest and doing nothing against him.
"I think you'll find, we're a resistant lot, the people of earth."
Loki stared at the new opponent with a slight surprise.
"Hm, and who are you?"
Clark smiled.
"No one."
He flew towards the trickster god with speed about to land a punch but Loki faded and appeared elsewhere.
"Why don't you join me? You seem to have enough power. You will be rewarded a place as one of my generals when this planet is mine."
Clark sighed.
"There's really nothing you say that'll change my mind, Loki. Hand over your scepter and let's get this over with."
Loki sneered.
"Very well. Let's end this."
Clark gave Black Widow a small shake of her head as she moved to fire a gun at him and then Loki fired a blast which he dodged.
Clark then fired his laser at him and Loki blocked it with the staff, an interested look on his face the more he stared at the symbol on the unknown's chest.
Where had he seen it from?
Clark, wanting to end this, brought his hands together for a mighty clap towards the god and a strong bout of wind hit Loki head on, but seeing as he also was not just a human, he was able to stand on his feet, however difficult, using the scepter to block his face as the glass windows behind him broke when faced with such wind.
Clark wasted no time, blurred towards Loki, landing a powerful punch on his jaw and he was thrown right into the Stark Tower living room, the scepter landing on the ground.
Natasha immediately ran over, making a grab for the scepter, not trusting him to withstand the control.
Greater me had fallen underneath it's will after all.
She turned to where Loki was slowly standing up, giving Clark a salacious grin.
"Why don't you be a dear and put him out for the count?"
Before he could say anything though, The Hulk flew into the tower with an angry growl on his face as he went for the god and he turned back to the redhead.
"I'd rather not."
Natasha walked away a bit amused and Clark watched as The Hulk proceeded to slam Loki like a butcher trying to break the bones in a meat bundle after the god had annoyed him.
The Green guy then looked up at Clark's slightly surprised look and then back at Loki and then grunted.
"Puny god."
With that, he flew out of the building, leaving Clark to his thoughts.
"Well how about that."
He smiled as he turned to walk out.
A Few Minutes Earlier…
Nick Fury was having one of the worst days of his life.
Heck, he could say it was worse than the day he lost the use of his eye!
Aliens invading, destruction here and there, civilians running and screaming about… and if that wasn't enough, there was an unknown flying about and helping said civilians.
How had he not known about this person??
They could fly, shoot fucking lasers out of their eyes, breath out cold air and stronger than the fucking average man!
What the fuck was going on??
"Director, the council is on."
Maria Hill called out and he sighed, letting out a curse.
"Well shit!"
"I can close it!"
Natasha shouted into her comlink as she pressed the scepter into the machine holding the portal open.
"Can anybody hear me?? I can shut the portal down!"
Clark stood next to her just in case she needed help with the machine.
"Do it!"
Clark heard Captain America's voice over the link before another voice cut in. This one, he recognized very well and wasn't sure how he felt about him.
"Wait! Hold on!"
"Stark, these things are still coming! We can't hold them back any longer!"
Captain America spoke up.
"Got that Cap. But we've got a nuke coming in. We've got less than a minute, and there's a perfectly good place to stick it in."
Clark's eyes immediately narrowed a bit as he used his X-ray vision to see through the buildings, locating the missile moving fast and towards their location.
He watched as Iron Man clumsily settled under.
"Stark, you do realize this is a one-way trip, right?"
Clark needed no telling twice as he immediately flew towards the missile.
As heroic as Tony was being, it would be stupid of Clark to let him fly himself out with a risk of dying when Clark could perfectly help out.
And so, he settled on top, grasping the missile in his hands stiffly and ignoring the faint 'what the?!' he heard from Iron Man as he took the missile, blurring upwards and into the Portal.
Back in the Helicarrier, agents celebrated the mysterious hero, Fury included, even though her wouldn't admit it until he knew who he was thanking and if they deserved said thanks.
Clark flew through the hole, his jaw dropping as he saw the entire armada of ships, close to 90 in number.
If he didn't do something crazy now, these ships would find another way to continue the invasion one way or the other.
With that, he let go of the missile, watching it fly towards the main shop and watching in satisfaction as the ship exploded, taking with it the other ships as well.
He looked down in time to see the portal slowly begin to close and he flew through it, letting out a small sigh of relief as he got back in Manhattan.
The invasion was over.
He landed in front of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hawkeye and The Hulk, his red cape billowing in the wind.
Captain America walked forward, a hand out with a small smile.
"Thanks for the help. We really needed it."
Clark smiled, shaking the man's hand back.
"No problem sir. Just doing a… civic duty."
"Even though you took my awesome plan to fly a missile into space, I'm not too mad."
Tony Stark walked forward, his face plate open and a curious look on his face the more he looked at the young man in front of him.
Clark tried to look away from him but it was for naught as Thor laughed out loud, walking over and slapping Clark on the shoulder.
"Well met, Kryptonian!! I had thought your people all dead, but to see one in action again! It has been too long!"
Clark's eyes widened at that.
"Kryptonian?"
Hawkeye asked, a curious look on his face as Tony slowly walked up to the stranger and Clark decided he needed to leave.
He had gotten too much public attention for the day.
He'd only wanted to help, and now that he had done so… his job was done.
Heck, he had enough to write for J.Jameson without the man screaming over his head about his employees running off screaming when they could have been doing their job.
"Well um… I have to go so…"
Captain America raised a hand.
"No, please… you helped us…"
Clark shook his head.
"I didn't do it for the recognition."
As he rose into the air, Tony let out a small breathe as he recognized just who it was.
"Clark?..."
Clark froze for a second, turning back to him.
"Tony."
And he flew off.
Hawkeye immediately rounded on the billionaire.
"Clark?... You know him?"
Even Thor and Steve were curious, even as Hulk grunted, uninterested in their conversation.
Tony though, watched as the flying man became but a speck in the sky.
"Yes… I… he's my brother…"
So I have had a Superman and Avenger crossover on my mind for months now but I hadn't put much into it.
I kept writing a few chapters and then moving on, lol, but then I got the first chapter ready and I was like… lemme just posting for the fun of it.
Heck, it could stand as a one shot, but if anyone is interested I just might continue it.
I won't upload fast though since I have other fics I write, but like I said, it all depends on if people like this idea.
No Justice League, just Clark alone, but of course there will be some characters like you've seen in the Daily Bugle.
Lois Lane will even turn up but that doesn't mean she's the love interest. Heck, that doesn't mean Black Widow is the live interest too. We've seen that quite a lot. Nothing is decided on yet. It only depends on if I can write it.
Love isn't the reason I created this fic. I just wanted to have fun with Clark Kent in the Avengers universe.
How he got there and who found him. Obviously Tony's parents since he called him brother… but there seems to be some little animosity between them both so…
Hope you like it and comment!!
