Chapter 2

Tragedy Strikes Again

By Melon1205

Okay, okay, before we start, you know that thing where a person talks too soon? Or like when they say something like "everything is fine," but it suddenly isn't. Like they jinxed it. This… is exactly what's happening.

After 'Puppy' left, life return to normal. Setsuka continued to train while her mother did motherly things. Honestly, Setsuka doesn't know what her mother does. 37 days after 'Puppy' left and less than a day before his return, Setsuka is training in front of the house. She tries to do as many pushups as her five-year-old strength allowed when… "Setsuka!" her mother shouted from inside, "Come pack up!"

Setsuka sighed. Once in a while, she and her mother would switch to another location to be safe. For the past 3 years, they had been running. "Coming!" she replied and ran into the house, the door slamming shut behind her.

Setsuka made a beeline to the room she shared with her mother. As she passed the kitchen where her mom was packing food, she heard her yell, "Don't take everything! Leave the useless items."

"I know!" Setsuka called back and ran into the room. She grabbed her tiny brown duffel bag. She grabbed the books that 'Puppy' had given her. (Not all of them of course) She purposely left behind the books that she didn't understand, like Icha Icha Paradise or something. She never really paid attention to it. Her mother told her not to.

Then after sorting all the books patiently (not really patiently), she turned to the sword lying on the wall under the window. She reached for it and grabbed the hilt. The sword had belonged to her father Asashi. It was the only physical memory that they had of him. It had also been the only thing they took with them when she and her mother left Kirigakure. Now, it was Setsukas treasure.

"Setsuka!" her mother shouted, a hint of anxiety in her tone, "We need to leave NOW!"

Setsukas grip tightened around the sword and she ran for the door. BOOM!

The entire house shook as the front door was knocked open. Setsuka ran behind the door connecting to the kitchen and hid, her entire body shaking.

Her mother screamed and dropped the stack of plates she was holding with a SMASH. They shattered to the ground and her mother backed up, away from the door. Setsuka didn't dare look as a group of 4 people walked into the house. She knew immediately that they were ANBU from the Bloody Mist.

As they walked in, mist flooded into the house. Setsuka held her breath, not wanting to be heard. "Hello Kira," said one of the men (imagine a Darth Vader voice), "We've finally found you."

"Yeah?" her mother provoked, "How long did it take you? A hundred years? I've been waiting for ages."

Setsuka flinched as the man laughed. "No, more like three years, 2 months, and 23 days." Then, he turned to the rest of his team. "Kill her, then seal her corpse."

Her mother backed against the wall and looked at the incoming three ANBUs. They pulled out ninja tools and threw them at her mother. Setsuka couldn't hold her gasp when her mother screamed in pain. "There's someone else here!" shouted another ANBU, this time a girl.

Suddenly, her mother turned to water. "A water clone!" yelped the same girl as the water splashed onto her uniform, "Since when did Kira no water ninjutsu?"

Setsuka was shaking now. Then, her mother turned the corner and covered her mouth. "Shhh, I'm all right. Now, grab your stuff and head out the window. Hatake-kun should be hear soon."

Setsuka frowned upon hearing the name but shrugged it off and made for the window, the sword, and bag in hand. Her mother followed behind her. Suddenly, Setsuka slammed to the ground as her foot got caught on her futon. She screamed.

"Shit!" her mother muttered picked Setsuka up and began to run. The duffel bag and sworded clattered noisily to the floor. Suddenly, Setsuka felt herself fall again. Pain shot through her head as it banged against the floor. She was dizzy and the whole world was blurred and tilting. When it finally came into focus, she noticed blood on the floor.

Setsuka screamed and looked up to see her mother lying next to her, a sword in her back. Setsuka sat up with shaky legs and crawled to her mother. "Kaa-chan," she whispered while sobbing, "No, no, no, no… waaaah!"

"It's okay, my Snow Flower," said her mom, in a voice filled with pain, "As long as you're all right. 'Puppy' is coming. He'll be coming any second… " her mother's voice trailed off, "Stay safe and always remember, you are Setsuka Yuki..."

Setsuka whimpered as her mother's eyes turned glassy. The four ANBU had witnessed the entire scene. Behind their masks, they seemed to be laughing. "Never thought Asashi had a daughtered," one said.

"Must have hidden her," said another.

"For that, she will be killed too."

Setsuka shook off the dizziness and rose to her feet. In her hand, her father's sword was shaking. It was heavy and unbalanced for her, but she took it and pointed at the four ANBU anyways.

"You think she has the Yuki Clans kekkei genkai?" one of them asked.

"Too bad we'll never find out," said the boss. He walked over to Kira's still body and pulled out his sword. It was blood and he pointed it at Setsuka.

Then, he slashed at her. Setsuka had no time to say anything as the tip of her father's sword was cut off. She dropped it with a yelp. "You monster," she whispered.

Anger welled up inside her. The ANBU in front of her kicked her in the chest, and she fell to the floor coughing. It only made her madder. Suddenly, Setsuka felt an overwhelming sense of power. She could feel the water around her; the condensation from the mist, the water in the kettle, the water by the creek, and her mother's water clone's water. Then, everything exploded.

The last thing Setsuka saw was blue mixed with blood, the ANBU's blood. Then, everything turned black.
