The Fic Lab Prompt: I'm not mad, just disappointed
This is just a fun little ditty.
"Bella?"
I look up expectantly at Alice but I can tell from the look on her face this is not good news. After all the times the Cullens have tried to shower me with gifts, the one time I ask for something, it looks like I'm not getting it.
"We really tried, Bella. Jasper tried every way possible to hack into the site, but it didn't work. He's never seen anything like this before. Every avenue was blocked by the volume of people on the site."
Alice looks almost as devastated as I feel. She was so excited that I finally agreed to accept a gift - that I actually requested something for once - that not being able to get it for me seems to break her heart.
"And you didn't see that this wouldn't work?" I ask not to make her feel guilty, just wanting to understand.
Her face drops even more, but I can see she's frustrated, too.
"It's not entirely my fault, Bella. You should have let us hack in originally before you got waitlisted. Then we would have been able to get the tickets for you."
I feel guilty myself now. She's completely right. I thought I wanted to do it the human way. But when I got the email that said I was waitlisted, I knew I'd made a terrible mistake.
"I know, you're right. Don't worry about it, Alice. I'm not mad, just disappointed. I really wanted to see Taylor Swift!"
