Chapter 5: Inspected

"Mom, please watch over Sam while Pamela and I inspect properties Mr. Loadman intends to show, will you?" Jeremy Manson asked.

"Son, I still think you're wasting your time with the idea of starting your own country club." Ida replied with a frown.

"You'll change your mind when we tell you the good news, Ida." Pamela argued. "One of the properties Mr. Loadman will show us is near that lake house you bought instead of that nice penthouse in New York."

"What?" Sam asked in shock, worried about Dani and Wulf.

"That's right, Sammykins." Pamela happily replied, oblivious to what was going through her daughter's mind. "If we place our country club there, we can finally use that house long enough to make up for the money your grandmother squandered on it."

"Hey." Ida protested.

"Face it, Mother." Jeremy said. "When was the last time either of us went there?"

Ida tried to remember it. "Point taken, son." She conceded. "I suppose it's about time we go there to enjoy nature but I'm still opposing the idea of starting a country club."

"Excuse me, nature calls." Sam quickly said and ran out of the living room. 'Did I sound as lame as Danny does with the bathroom excuse?' She thought.

"Well, as I was saying, if you're going back to the lake house, I'd like to go there as well." Ida said. "How about the four of us go?"

-LINE BREAK-FENTONWORKS-

Danny Fenton was doing his homework when his cell phone rang. "Sam?"

"Danny, Dani and Wulf are in danger!" Sam quickly exclaimed.

"What?" Danny asked in shock.

"My parents are looking for properties to build a country club of their own on and one of them happens to be near the lake house where they're hiding." Sam said. "You must warn them!"

"Are they that upset at Eleanor Wellington for expelling them from her country club?" Danny asked, not believing anyone other than Vlad could be that petty.

"Well, that and the latest ghost attack made them think Eleanor's country club isn't safe enough anyway." Sam explained. "Mom said Eleanor actually did her and Dad a favor by revoking their membership. But that doesn't matter now. Warn Dani and Wulf!"

"Alright, Sam." Danny replied. "Thanks for the warning."

After ending the call with Sam, Danny asked for Jazz's help. "Jazz, cover up for me." He said. "I need to warn Dani and Wulf! Please!"

"Okay, little brother." Jazz replied.

Danny then went ghost and flew towards the lake house. During the flight, he saw some animalistic ghosts attacking the town but, before he'd try to stop them, some Guys in White showed up to do the job and actually defeated the ghosts. "I guess the latest changes did turn them into a better ghost-hunting team." he commented.

"Look!" A Guy in White said. "That's Danny Phantom!" He then aimed a weapon at Danny.

"No!" Another Guy in White stopped him. "He's off-limits!"

No longer being needed there, Danny resumed flying to the lake house, where he was received by Dani and Wulf. "Hi, cuz." Dani Fenton said.

"Bonvenon mia amiko", Wulf welcomed his friend Danny in Esperanto.

"Emergency!" Danny said and then explained his reason to be there.

"Cuz, let me get this right." Danielle said. "Are you saying we must leave our home because Sam's parents want to upstage this Wellington woman by creating a country club to compete with hers?"

"Basically yes, Dani." Danny sadly answered.

"Kion ni faros?" Wulf asked. (Translation: What will we do?)

"I have a plan and you'll plan a very important part in it, Wulf." Danny replied with a malicious smile.

"Mi estas ĉiuj oreloj, amiko." Wulf stated. (Translation: I'm all ears, friend.)

-LINE BREAK-THE PROPERTY NEAR THE LAKE HOUSE-

Reginald Loadman was showing the Mansons a piece of land and hoping they'd buy it. "As you can see, Mr. Manson, this place is just as big, if not bigger, than the land where Eleanor Wellington's country club stands." Reginald said.

"Yes, it seems good." Jeremy Manson replied, sounding uninterested so he could convince Reginald to lower the price.

"You could attach the lake house's land to the club to attract members who enjoy the scenery." Reginald suggested. He didn't really care if the idea would work or not for as long as he sold the property.

"That's an idea." Jeremy commented, sounding slightly less impressed than before.

"Over my dead body!" Ida Manson protested.

"Did you have to bring her?" Pamela whispered to her husband.

Suddenly, a wolf-like ghost showed up. "Uh, that was just a figure of speech." Ida said.

'What are you thinking, Danny?' Sam thought.

"Foriru el mia lando, entruduloj!" Wulf told the "intruders" to leave.

"Tigers, bats, and now wolves?" Jeremy asked with a frown. "Is there a ghost zoo in this town?"

"Did that ghost speak Esperanto?" Ida asked in confusion.

Sam was shocked by her grandmother's question. "You speak Esperanto?"

"I've got this whole secret life that you know nothin' about, Sam." Ida answered.

"Mr. Loadman, I don't think I'll ever buy this property." Jeremy quickly said as he led his family into their car and drove them away.

Reginald Loadman entered his own car and did the same.

As he kept driving, Jeremy Manson ranted about what happened. "We didn't buy that place so what happens there is none of our business but the lake house is another matter." He said. "We should call the Guys in White."

"No!" Sam suddenly shouted, to her family's surprise.

"Samantha, do you expect the Fentons to do a better job?" Pamela disdainfully asked, not understanding Sam's real objections.

"Yes!" Sam quickly answered, not wanting her family to figure out the truth. "In fact, I'm calling Danny Fenton right now."

Danny was at the lake house watching Dani and Wulf return when his cell phone rang. "Sam?" He asked.

"Danny, I was with my family inspecting a land near Grandma's lake house when a ghost wolf attacked us." Sam said, making sure she wouldn't clue her family to the fact she knew more than them about the ghost attack.

Since Sam's feelings had nothing to do with the situation, Danny wasn't too clueless to notice. "So, did they give up on that land?" Danny hopefully asked.

"Yes, but they're now so concerned about the lake house they're thinking about calling ghost hunters to inspect it, Danny." Sam answered, making Danny gulp.

"Are your parents available, Danny?" Ida asked.

"I'm not at home at the moment, Ma'am." Danny replied.

"The lake house can wait." Jeremy said. "We have other properties to inspect."

"I'll call you back later, Danny. Bye." Sam ended the call, glad there'd be more time for Dani and Wulf.

Reginald had brought Pamela and Jeremy to the next listing his company had to offer.

It was place that was near a forest.

"This land is more to the tastes of people trying to get away from city noises..."Reginald explained as he showed off the area.

Pamela and Jeremy frowned, not pleased at all.

"Not big enough..."Pamela criticized, while Ida shook her head.

Sam, not wanting to risk them going back to the land near the lake house, INSERT.

"At least it has a great view..."Sam said, while her grandmother sent her a look.

Suddenly a ghost bear showed up, scaring Reginald and the Mansons away from the property.

"No view is great enough to endure this." Jeremy Manson said as he kept running.

"I have other options." Reginald said, still hoping to make a sale so that day wouldn't be a total waste of time.

The next listing was somewhat more beautiful.

"Wow, now this is rather nice..."Pamela said as she looked around.

Jeremy wasn't convinced.

"I'm not sure we wanna pay for a place that we're not even gonna use. Not to mention that Eleanor's country club has a sauna, so obviously we need one too..."Jeremy said.

Reginald, Sam and Ida all rolled their eyes at that.

"He's not even hiding his true intentions at this point..."They all thought, annoyed.

"I suppose we can add..."Jeremy said, only to trip and suddenly fall down into a hole.

"AHHH...OHH...OFF..."Jeremy let out as he fell down.

"Jeremy!..."Pamela said as she went to check on him.

"I'm fine, Pamela, but we're not buying this property." Jeremy replied. "Every other problem was just making me hesitant but I won't buy such a dangerous place. The next person who trips here might want to sue us for it." He stated, not so subtly implying he'd have sued Reginald had he got hurt.

'Well, I suppose he has a point.' Reginald sadly thought as he made a mental note to have this place checked for hazards before showing it to the next potential buyer. "I have a larger place to show." Reginald told the Mansons.

"Now you're talking!" Jeremy happily replied.

Pamela, Jeremy, Sam and Ida were all brought by Reginald to another place that his company has listed.

It was a large, clean looking plot of land that seemed to be TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE.

"So, what do you think?..."Reginald asked, as the picky Manson parents kept looking around.

Since they were dissatisfied with their previous viewings, they were kind of suspicious right now.

"Alright, what's the catch, Reginald?..."Jeremy asked, suspicious.

"Catch? Jeremy, that's a little rude. I'm a professional and why are you both acting like everything I try to sell has a negative thing about it?..."Reginald asked.

"Well, for one thing we notice is that you brought us way out of the outskirts of Amity Park, and we're too close to Elmerton..."Pamela said, frowning.

"Too close? Well, we are technically in Elmerton's side of the property line and-..."Reginald was cut off when the couple turned around.

"Rejected..."They said, heaving back to the car.

"What a waste of time. I knew this was too good to be true..."Jeremy grumbled, looking mad.

Sam and Ida were surprised.

"What's wrong? This is probably the best piece of land you've guys seen all day..."Sam pointed out.

"It's in ELMERTON, Sammy! Only poor people and riff-raffs live here and I will NOT have our family associated with anything like that..."Pamela said in a snooty way.

"Your mother's right, our country club is suppose to be the best and it needs to be in a GREAT place, not in the poor man's version of Amity Park. I can't believe he had the nerve to waste our time with this dump..."Jeremy said stubbornly.

Sam and Ida heard this and rolled their eyes.

"Why am I not surprised by this reaction?..."They both muttered under their breaths, while Reginald looked frustrated too.

Later

In the car

Jeremy and Pamela were upset and whining.

"Not one place even remotely acceptable..."He complained.

"The same can be said about your attitude." Sam grumbled.

"I heard that." Jeremy said.

"Good. I won't have to repeat myself." Sam replied, no longer caring if her parents knew how she felt.

"Are you giving up on the country club idea, son?" Ida hopefully asked.

"Yes, mother." Jeremy answered with a frown. "If even an elite realtor like Reginald Loadman couldn't offer us anything halfway decent, there's no hope. But I'm still looking for a penthouse in New York."

"Of course." Sam muttered.

"And I'm still calling the Fentons to make sure there are no ghosts at the lake house." Ida replied, making Sam worried.

'I need to warn Danny.' Sam thought.
